So I guess not soon. I really need to get better about writing, remembering to write, and thinking of things to write. I'M SO SORRY PLEASE FORGIVE ME!
The guy with curly hair looked at Percy, stunned. "Dude, did you just speak another language? DID I JUST SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE?"
Sophie couldn't help laughing a little. The guy looked offended, "Hey, you try learning another language in 3 seconds!"
"I kind of have. When I manifested as a polyglot."
"Poly- Can we ask stuff now?" Percy questioned.
She crossed her arms, "I'll answer questions later. For now, who are you?"
One by one, they introduced themselves. The blonde girl was Annabeth, the dark-haired girl was Piper, the dark-haired boy was Percy, and the curly-haired boy was Leo.
Piper looked around, "Wow. Not even my dad's house is this fancy. Are you trillionaires?"
"Actually, all elves are far richer than human trillionaires from birth. We've solved poverty and hunger. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say that the quarreling is not quite over." Alden shook his head sorrowfully.
Leo started choking on air. When he regained his breath, he said, "I'm sorry, WHAT? That's like, impossible. There is no way this is real."
Sophie couldn't help smiling. She remembered how impossible this had seemed to her, too. Almost immortal, extremely rich, really pretty, and super-powered beings? Nope. Noooooo. "Well last time I checked we were all flesh and blood."
"So not gods then?" Percy raised an eyebrow.
"I mean … I guess we kind of are compared to humans?" At this point, Leo's eyes rolled up into his head, and he fell to the floor. Piper lunged down and caught him just in time.
"But you're still partly immortal? Are you like the hunters of Artemis?"
Sophie thought hard. Something about this felt familiar. Oh! Right, Artemis was a Greek goddess and the hunters of Artemis were women who pledged never to fall in love and to stay with Artemis eternally. "What are you, Greek mythology experts?"
Leo, who had by now recovered, sat up and said, "I wouldn't say experts, but we probably know a lot more than you do. For instance, did you know that when a god has a child with a mortal, the child is called a demigod? And that those children are not frequently named Leo Valdez, but here I am, so it must happen sometimes, right?"
"Demigods?" Biana called out from the crowd, "So human gods are real? Do you have powers? Can you die? Who are your parents?"
"How about questions later, and answers now. We told you some things so you tell us some things." Leo turned to Sophie, "You seem to be the leader. Tell us about the… elves?"
Sophie looked around and realized for the first time that all the elves had gone back around the walls, leaving her alone in the center of the room with the 'Demigods'. "Uhhhh… so… I'm not actually sure how much I'm allowed to tell you. I think we need to take you to the council."
Leo backed away, "Ok, was this a trap? Let's get back on the dragon people!"
"No, we're just being cautious!" Sophie said.
"I still don't see why we have to go to any 'council'! We're innocent." Leo threw his hands up in the air, like humans do when a weapon is pointed at them.
"Because… humans are kind of illegal in the Lost Cities?" She thought that would probably get a reaction from the demigods, but to her surprise, they all looked unaffected.
"Lady, we're illegal everywhere. We're used to being attacked, captured, and put in danger. And we're not going to a 'council'."
Before anyone could think, Alden threw a disk onto the floor. On contact, it broke open, releasing an opaque, silvery mist. Thankfully, Sophie was able to cover her mouth in time, but everyone else dropped to the floor, coughing. When the smoke dissipated, Sophie hesitantly lowered her arm. After a few breaths in which she did not pass out, she thought it was safe to talk.
"Do you just keep those in your pockets at all times?" She said, raising an eyebrow at Alden.
"That is not of importance now. Will you assist me in bringing these humans to the council?"
Sophie said nothing but grabbed the closest person, Annabeth, and leaped away.
