Chapter 5: New Rival and Space-time Distortion

The three Royal Woods trainers left the pokecenter first thing in the morning, after breakfast, and headed to Route 2 to start making their way to Striation City. They made a plan to stay a day or two on Route 2. So they can try to catch some more Pokemon and train their Pokemon. All the while, they were unaware that they were being followed by a purple feline.

"It was nice to sleep in a bed again," Lincoln said while stretching.

"You said it dude," Sam agreed with the white hair boy. Lucy, who was walking ahead of both of them, was looking at her phone. "Whatcha looking at dudette?" She asks the little goth.

"Sigh, I've been looking in on our family," Lucy replied, not looking up from her phone. This got Sam and Lincoln to have a guilty expression, since neither one of them had done that yet. "None of them remember us and are going on as if it's normal. However, on the plus side, Luna looks to be better and has left her room."

"That's good," Sam said with a small, but slightly sad smile. "It's a good thing I came here then." Lincoln could sense the sadness coming from her, so without thinking, he hugged her. Sam was surprised by this, but realized he was trying to comfort her. So she returned the hug and smiled gratefully at him.

Lucy noticed the silence and looked back at them, to see them hugging. She raised a hidden eyebrow at this, but shrugged it off and went back to looking at her phone. She knew her brother was just a kind person who would help anyone he could.

Then they heard a nearby bush start to shake near them. All three put their guard up and grabbed one of their pokeballs, ready for whatever was going to come out of it. Lucy then pointed her phone towards the bush.

Axew the Tusk Pokemon. It's hard tusks have a tendency to break, but each time they grow back, they grow in harder and sturdier.

"An Axew out here?" Lucy questioned out loud.

"It sounds cool, I'm going to catch it! Use Vine Whip Snivy!" Sam said, tossing her partner's pokeball. As soon as Snivy came out, she shot Vine Whip into the bush. However, they heard a loud female cry of pain, before a girl jumped out of the bush.

It was a 12 year old thin girl. She is dark-skinned with a medium brown complexion, brown eyes and abnormal long purple hair, tied back with yellow bangles in thick ponytails that resemble the petals of an iris blossom. She wore a cream-colored long-sleeved top with a pink collar and cuffs, a pink puffy miniskirt with a slit on the left side and a big ribbon over it. She also has white leggings with yellow colored ends at the legs, and pink and white yellow-strapped shoes with no socks.

"Ow! Who did that!" She shouted in anger, turning to glare at the three trainers.

"Whoops, sorry about that," Sam apologized with an embarrassed smile. "I thought there was a Axew in there,"

"I apologize as well," Snivy said, bowing to the girl.

The girl then marched up to Sam. "Does this cute face…" she started saying with a large smile, before it turned into a furious expression. "…Look like an Axew to you?!"

Sam didn't like this girl's attitude and was about to snap back, but Lucy intervened. "Our pokedex app told us there was an Axew in the bush," she said from behind the girl, scaring her.

Suddenly an Axew popped its head out from the girl's hair. "Hi!" The Axew said happily seeing the new people.

"Oh! So it was your Axew it picked up," Lincoln said, figuring out what happened. "We apologize for the mix up," he then said with a friendly smile. "I'm Lincoln and this is my sister Lucy, and our friend Sam." Lucy and Sam gave a small wave, although Sam had a frown on her face.

"I'm Iris," she said with a frown. "At least one of you doesn't act like a kid."

"What was that?!" Sam asked with a glare.

"Attacking someone out of nowhere and scaring people for no reason, you two act like such little kids," Iris said with a smug, superior tone. Sam glared intensified, Lucy had a little frown, and Lincoln frowned at her attitude.

"We apologized and told you it was our mistake!" Sam said, trying not to shout at the younger girl. Lincoln moved over to her and tried to calm her down. "What's with the attitude?!"

"Aren't you a kid as well?" Lucy asked.

"I'm not a kid," Iris said with a smug voice, ignoring Sam. "While I'm young, I'm mentally an adult. Making me more mature than you,"

"Sounds like something a kid would say to sound like an adult," Lucy commented.

"What do you know! You're just a kid!" The tan skin girl shouted, poking Lucy in the chest.

"Hey! Don't touch my sister!" Lincoln said leaving Sam side and stepping between Iris and Lucy.

"What's your problem?!" Iris screamed at the white hair boy. "Why are you suddenly acting like a little kid!"

"How am I acting like a kid?!" Lincoln shouted back at her. "I'm not going to let some strange girl insult and bully my friend and sister!"

"Then why don't we settle this with a Pokemon battle!" She said with a smug smile.

"Fine with me!" Lincoln replied. They then move into position, with the pathway acting as their battlefield.

"Kick her butt Lincoln!" Sam cheered with a fist in the air. Lucy said nothing, just mimicking Sam's gesture.

"Let's do this Axew!" Iris shouted, with the Pokemon leaping from her hair.

"I'm sorry about this," Axew apologized, looking a little embarrassed.

"Come out Raticate!" Lincoln shouted. The Mouse Pokemon came out with a sigh. "Can you battle?" He asks in a concerned voice, seeing her expression.

"Yeah, I just hate that I have to do everything by myself again," Raticate said in a depressed tone. "Let's get this over with."

"Axew use Bite!" Iris ordered. The Tusk Pokemon then charged.

"Dodge with a Quick Attack and counter with Tackle!" Lincoln ordered. Raticate easily dodged the Bite and then hit Axew with a Tackle.

"Grrr! Axew, use Take Down!" Iris shouted in anger.

"Now use Focus Energy and then Take Down!" Lincoln called out.

Axew got back up and charged again. Raticate glowed while using Focus Energy, before charging at her opponent as well. Both crashed into each other. Both got sent flying back, with Axew being sent higher and further.

"Finish this with Quick Attack!" Lincoln shouted with a smile.

Raticate got back up and then charged towards the Dragon Type Pokemon. Axew struggled to get back to its feet, only to be hit again, knocking it out.

"Oh no! Axew!" Iris shouted in worry, running up to her Pokemon.

"Thanks Raticate, take a long rest," Lincoln said, grabbing her pokeball. Sam and Lucy were cheering, while the teenager was cheering loudly.

"Whatever," the Mouse Pokemon said in a tired tone, before being returned to her ball.

"This isn't over!" Iris screamed, picking up her Pokemon while throwing some money at Lincoln. "Just wait and see! I'm going to win the gym challenge and become the world's best Dragon Master!"

"Dragon Master?" Sam asked confused, walking up to Lincoln.

"I think she means a master of Dragon Type Pokemon," Lincoln answered her question, while picking up the money.

"But wouldn't that put you at a disadvantage for anyone who has a Ice or Fairy Type Pokemon?" Lucy pointed out to the girl, walking up to her brother.

"Shut up! You're all just little kids!" Iris shouted before running off.

"She ran off," Lucy commented, seeing her disappear.

"She's doing the gym challenge?!" Lincoln said with a voice filled with dread.

"I really hope we don't run into her again," Sam said with a frown. "Let's go find a place to camp." Both younger kids nodded and they started walking again.

As they walked, Sam and Lincoln were chatting about his battle against Iris, while Lucy was silently listening to them talk. After walking for about an hour, they suddenly found themselves in a weird energy dome. While in the dome, the sky looked purple and it sounded like they were in the middle of a storm.

"What just happened!?" Lincoln asked in a concerned voice, looking around.

"Where are we?!" Sam asked in an equally concerned voice.

"Gasp, we're in a Space-time Distortion!" Lucy shouted, her voice actually sounded surprised.

"A what?" Both her companions asked at the same time.

"A Space-time Distortion," she replied, voice going back to normal. "Back when Sinnoh was known as Hisui, there are records of these appearing there. These distortions are linking two different time periods."

"Uh, can you simplify what you just said?" Lincoln asked her with a confused expression.

"Sigh, basically it's linking the present to a different time period, like the future or past," Lucy simplified, getting a nod from Sam and Lincoln.

"But which one is this linked to?" Sam asked out loud. "Also, are we trapped here?"

"I don't know and no, we can get out if we find the edge of the distortion or it vanishes," Lucy replied. "However, it's unknown how long a distortion lasts. So it might be best to try to find the edge of the distortion." Lincoln and Sam nodded, and all three started walking forward.

As they walked and looked around, Sam noticed something on the ground. "Hey! Check it out!" She said bending down to pick it up. It was an odd color stone. "This is a Star Piece right?" She asked, showing them the stone.

"Yeah it is," Lincoln said in amazement, looking at it.

"That's not all, look," Lucy said, pointing on the ground not too far away from them. She then went over and picked it up, it was a dark color stone. "This is a Dusk Stone."

"That's not all!" Lincoln said, finding something else on the ground. He ran over and picked it up, it was a teal stone. "Here's a Dawn Stone!"

"What are all these doing here?" Sam asked in a confused tone.

"It might be a result of the distortion," Lucy replied while thinking about it. "Records do say people found odd things within the distortions."

"How do you know all this?" Lincoln asked with a raised eyebrow. Just as she was about to answer, he then held a hand up to stop her. "Wait, let me guess. Arceus?" He said, which she gave a nod of confirmation. Resulting in all three trainers sighing. "Well let's continue and keep an eye out for any more valuable items." Both nodded and they started walking, while looking out for more items.

As they walked forward they found more rare items. Sam found a Shiny Stone, 2 bags of Stardust, and Leaf Stone. Lincoln found a Comet Shard, an Electirizer, an Ice Stone, and an Thunder Stone. Lucy found a Magmarizer, Water Stone, Fire Stone, Moon Stone, and an Upgrade Disc. Suddenly they heard the loud roar of an unknown Pokemon.

"What was that?!" Sam shouted in a frightful voice, hearing the roar.

"What should we do?" Lucy asked her brother, grabbing onto his arm in fright.

"I think we should avoid whatever made that sound and get out of here," Lincoln said with a nervous voice. Both nodded and all of them started to run.

They ignored any items they came across and ran looking for the edge of the distortion. They heard the roar again, with it sounding closer. After a couple of minutes of running, they soon saw the edge of the distortion. As they almost reached it, something then crashed into Lincoln and Lucy knocking them over.

"Ow!" Lincoln said, sitting up after being knocked down. As he did, he felt something on his chest.

"What hit us?" Lucy asked, sitting up as well. She too felt something on her as well.

"Are you two okay?" Sam asked in concern, rushing over to them. She then notices the two Pokemon on top of both of them.

However, before either one of them could answer, an extremely large Pokemon with glowing red eyes appeared in front of them. "What is that?!" Sam whispered in fear, instinctively pointing her phone at it.

Sneasler the Free Climb Pokemon. Because of Sneasler's virulent poison and daunting physical prowess, no other species could hope to best it on the frozen highlands. Preferring solitude, this species does not form packs.

All three trainers looked up at the Pokemon with fear. "Run!" A voice shouted. All three trainers immediately got to their feet and ran, with the younger trainers subconsciously grabbing and carrying the Pokemon that crashed into them. The Sneasler roared at them and started to chase after them.

They ran and made it out of the distortion, only to see the large Pokemon still running towards them. Just as they were about to continue running, the distortion suddenly vanished and took the Sneasler with it.

"What just happened?" Sam asked, confused.

"The distortion vanished," Lucy replied.

"At least that Sneasler is gone," Lincoln said with a sigh.

"Thanks for helping us!" A female voice said from Lucy's arms. The trainers looked to see the Misdreavus she was holding, smiling up at them.

"Who's that Pokemon?" Sam curiously asked, pointing her phone at it.

Misdreavus the Screech Pokemon. It loves to watch people it scares. It frightens them by screaming loudly or appearing suddenly.

"You're actually very cute~" a new female voice said. This time it came from the Pokemon in Lincoln's arms. They then looked at it to see a Zorua, who was giving the boy a sultry look. However, it was different then the one they saw. It was white and red, instead of black and red.

"That one looks like a Zorua, but it's different then the one we saw before," Lucy said, pointing her phone at it.

Hisuian Zorua the Spiteful Fox Pokemon. A once-departed soul, returned to life in Hisui. Derives power from resentment, which rises as energy atop of its head and takes on forms of foes. In this way, Zorua vents lingering malice.

"Hisuian? Then that means that distortion was linked to the past, right?" Sam asked the little goth.

"Most likely," Lucy said, putting the Misdreavus down. Lincoln followed suit, although the Zorua was whining for him not to. "I wonder why that Space-time distortion happened?" She questioned herself.

"I don't know, but we should be careful from now on," Lincoln said, ignoring the Zorua clinging to his leg. "Whatever the reason for it appearing, it might happen again."

"It wouldn't surprise me if Arceus has a hand in doing it," Sam commented with a frown. "Anyways, let's look for a good camping site." Both Louds nodded and they started walking, only to stop when they heard a shout.

"Wait!" Misdreavus shouted, flying towards Lucy. "Take me with you!" She said, nuzzling her face.

"You want to come with me?" Lucy asked, surprised.

"Yeah!" The Screech Pokemon said happily. "You helped me when that strange dome appeared. If you didn't, I would've been hurt by that large Sneasel!"

"It was actually a Sneasler," Lucy corrected. "But, are you sure?" Misdreavus nodded, and Lucy smiled while getting an empty pokeball. "Alright then," she said, tapping it against the Pokemon. The pokeball did an instant capture and Lucy smiled.

"I also wanted to go with you cutie~" Zorua said, giving the white hair boy a flirty look.

"Uh, no thanks," Lincoln replied in an awkward tone and expression. Sam and Lucy saw this, and started to giggle at his situation.

"What?! Why not!?" The Spiteful Fox Pokemon shouted with a glare.

"I just don't think your- Hey!" He started saying. Only for the Pokemon to suddenly jump on him and start digging into his pockets. She then found one of his pokeballs, made it larger, and then tapped its head against it. Just like Misdreavus, it was instantly captured.

"Did I just catch a Pokemon, without actually catching a Pokemon?" Lincoln asked in a stunned voice.

"Good for you brother," Lucy said to him.

"You should be careful dude," Sam said while patting his back. "Tepig is clingy, but Zorua seems like the possessive type. Now come on and let's find a campsite!" She chuckles as she walks off, with Lucy following. Lincoln eventually snaps back to his senses, grabs his new Pokemon, and follows them.
