Welp, here it is, the first season finale of Yu-Gi-Oh! CHRONIXII. Hard to believe that I was able to make it this far; something I never thought would be possible, even when I first attempted to do something like this as far back as February 2006. In any case, though, this story will be put on hiatus while I struggle to complete the second season (and Lord knows how long that's gonna take…).

Enjoy the first season finale, and I hope you're all hyped for what season two will bring!

"Now, Wielder, take one last look at your precious sisters!" Those were the same taunting words Uranus spoke to Lincoln, who both looked and felt like his heart was about to shatter into pieces.

Previously, Lincoln and Clyde had entered the abandoned power plant after Lincoln's victory against Caliban. After a few minutes of exploration, the two finally arrived at a room where they were confronted by Uranus, one of the Knights of Itzamna, who subsequently challenged Lincoln to a Game Duel. At first, Lincoln was determined to win. But after attacking one of Uranus's monsters, Lincoln's confidence was quickly diminished upon the heart-wrenching discovery that the monster he destroyed somehow contained the spirit of his oldest sister, Lori.

But that wasn't the worst part – after Lori severely berated her younger brother for recklessly and selfishly sneaking out of the house which resulted in the endangerment of both herself and some of her younger sisters who went missing, her spirit was absorbed into a card Uranus flung into the air, and one that had no real text or artwork. Speaking of Lori's younger sisters, Uranus had brought them out – and they, too, were entrapped in some of his cards, and each one expressed a different negative emotion of doubtfulness, sadness, and anguish. All three trapped sisters were staring down at their younger brother, expressing their respective negative feelings towards him and his actions.

"No… No, why are you looking at me like that!?" the trembling Lincoln cried, his agony intensifying by the second.

"Why shouldn't we?" Leni doubtfully asked. "Did you, like, even stop to think of what might've happened if you snuck out like that?"

"Dude," Luna gloomily added, "why haven't you thought of your own safety, and the safety of your sisters, young and old?"

"Linky, how could you!?" Luan wailed. "How could you let us get captured and have us be carded like this!? …I'm so upset that I can't even laugh at my own jokes!"

"Please… stop looking at me like that!" Lincoln loudly pleaded, tears welling in his eyes. "I didn't do anything wrong, I swear!"

"I believe you have, Lincoln," Uranus taunted, "and now you're about to pay the ultimate price!" Uranus maniacally cackled as Lincoln fell to his knees and stared at the ground, gradually crushed by despair. The frowning Lynn contemptuously stared at Lincoln and what his recklessness led him to. Lincoln had to come up with a way to free his other trapped sisters – but what?

YU-GI-OH! CHRONIXII

LEVEL 1-26
THE PROOF OF HIS SELFISHNESS

A car pulled up and abruptly halted outside the abandoned power plant, just as the duel between Uranus and Lincoln was underway. Hurryingly climbing out of the car was Bobby, followed by Ronnie Anne and Mira, all in their quest to rescue Lincoln.

"Look! It's Vanzilla!" Bobby cried, pointing to the abandoned van as soon as the three exited the car. Now there was no further doubt that they were on the right track.

"Now that we know Lincoln's here, let's go get 'im!" Ronnie Anne declared, hotheadedly running to the entrance.

"Ronnie Anne, wait!" Mira shouted at the girl.

But Ronnie Anne was in too much a hurry to listen – a costly mistake, because a forming cluster of green pixels in front of the gate entrance stopped the girl dead in her tracks. Standing in place of the exploding cluster was an android closely resembling Robotic Knight – specifically, the form taken by Nezbitt of the Big Five. However, his body armor was primarily emerald green mixed with some silvery white. His bicorne hat was absent. And as for his mask, it was a silvery white Kanohi Hau with red eyes shining through the eyeholes and an emerald planetary symbol of Uranus on the forehead.

"Halt!" the android shouted in an electronically altered English accent. "Who dares attempt to trespass into Uranus's domain!?"

"Hey, outta my way!" Ronnie Anne shouted at the robot. "I need to rescue a friend, so I don't have time for you!"

"You dare talk that way to the great Francisco?!" the enraged robot fumed. "I shall not tolerate your defiance!" Without warning, a green digital blade projected across the emerald crystal installed in his left cuff.

"Ronnie Anne, don't let this guy duel you!" Mira loudly pleaded. "He's more dangerous than you think!"

Ronnie Anne remained silent for a few suspenseful seconds as she defiantly stared directly at Francisco, her fingers wriggling. But to the surprise of everyone, especially Francisco, she ran and slid directly underneath the robot's legs, making the android bend down in astonishment. This proved to be a costly mistake of his own, for Ronnie Anne found a nearby lead pipe and whacked it on the back of Francisco's head, rendering him unconscious.

As the cybernetic sentinel fell, Mira was visibly astonished at Ronnie Anne's capabilities. "Surprised, huh?" Bobby playfully remarked. "Let's just say you really don't wanna get on her bad side."

"Yeah, yeah, save the flattery for later!" Ronnie Anne impatiently said. "We gotta find Lincoln, quick!"

"But we don't know where he could be inside," Mira argued, "and we don't know if we'll run into any more of those robotic freaks!"

"I'll admit, I don't know about all that, either," Ronnie Anne confessed, repeatedly tapping the lead pipe in her open palm. "But if we do come across any more of those robotic goons, I'll be sure to take 'em out! Now let's go!" Without wasting a second, Ronnie Anne ran into the plant, with Bobby and Mira quickly trailing behind.

Back at the duel, the emotionally distraught Lincoln was kneeling and staring at the floor, trying to hold back his tears. He hadn't forgotten about what happened to Lori, and the harsh criticisms she lashed out at him before her untimely and unexplainable demise. He also wasn't sure if his other older sisters would meet the same fate – he certainly hoped they wouldn't.

But what especially weighed upon Lincoln's mind was the way Lori berated Lincoln before her soul was absorbed into Uranus's blank card. She almost acted the same way she did when she first confronted him outside the abandoned plant – perhaps, even more harshly by comparison. Even worse was the way his other sisters trapped in the statues acted, and the criticisms aimed at him. It slowly made him think: Was it truly wrong for him to sneak out of the Loud household? And was it all worth it just to show off a card he was excited to use? As Lincoln was twisted by confusion and agony, Clyde and Lynn just stared at him and his predicament, Lynn's contempt more visually evident.

"Something the matter, Wielder?" Uranus mocked, prompting Lincoln to slowly get himself back up. "Was the shock of seeing your sisters turn into cards too much for you? Well, if you have nothing else to do, you should end your turn – after all, we have a duel to get through!" [LP: 3600]

Still dazed and confused, Lincoln looked down at the last two cards in his hand. One of them was Ace Savvy's Last Ace – a Trap Card he didn't think of placing face-down earlier, for he conceitedly thought he could defeat Uranus rather quickly. With no other options available, Lincoln drooped his shoulders and timidly announced, "Y-Yeah, my turn's done…" [LP: 4000]

"Very well – it's my move!" Uranus snootily declared. After drawing five cards, he looked up at the rusted card floating up between him and the yellow portal. The card was now shrouded by a faint red miasma. 'Yes,' he thought with conceited excitement, 'it won't be long before I finally reconstruct my ace Itzam card and prove my knightly worth! But I need to have my other offerings destroyed, and they're not allowed to attack on their own accord.' Then he shifted his attention to the contents of his hand. 'Fortunately, I have just the cards that'll get me closer to achieving my destiny!'

"I activate the Spell Card, Contingency Fee!" he said aloud, swiping the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. The EARTH Spell Card picturing the black-suited ninja in front of the open briefcase of banknotes materialized. "This card forces you to draw until you have six cards in your hand! But for every card you draw, I'll regain one thousand Life Points!

"Let's see – if I've been paying attention, you only have two cards in your hand. That means you'll draw four cards, and I'll regain four thousand Life Points!" The ring appeared around Lincoln's wrist, which caught him off guard. Four stacked cards materialized halfway through the ring's topmost ridge, which Lincoln drew. Afterwards, Uranus was briefly shrouded by a white miasma. [LP: 3600 7600]

"Okay, I get the 'Life Point increasing' part," the uneasy Lincoln said, "but why would you still use a card that forces me to draw cards?"

"You're about to find out, Wielder!" Uranus cackled as another card materialized in his hand. "I activate another Spell Card, Footsteps of the Goddess!" After swiping the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots, a WHITE MAGIC Spell Card materialized. Its artwork featured a smiling, barefoot, long-haired blonde angel in a lavender satin dress, floating just above a pool of water.

"This card forces me to look at your hand, and if I see a monster with fifteen hundred or less Attack Points that can be summoned, I can Special Summon it right to your side of the field in Attack Mode! Let's see what you've got!" Six cards materialized before Uranus, in the order from left to right: Ace Savvy's Last Ace, Fusion, Swordsman of Roadstar, Hyper Refresh, Joker's Bower, and Boost Warrior.

"I know just the card to choose: your Swordsman of Roadstar!" To Lincoln's surprise, an orange portal materialized on his field, and the black-armored star knight flew out of it. [ATK: 1200]

"Okay, this doesn't make sense!" the mildly frustrated Clyde shouted. "First that freak uses a card that forces Lincoln to draw, and now he uses a card that summons a monster to Lincoln's field? What's this guy even up to?!"

Before either Clyde or Lynn could further speculate on Uranus's unusual moves, a shouting female voice caught their attention: "Lincoln!" It belonged to Mira, who ran into the same room, followed by Bobby and Ronnie Anne.

"Mira! Ronnie Anne!" Lincoln gasped as he saw the three running into the room. "How'd you find us here?"

"It's kind of a long story," Ronnie Anne said. "I'm just glad you're okay!" But it wasn't long before she noticed the statues that entrapped Leni, Luna, and Luan. "The heck!? Linc, how did your sisters get inside those statues?!" Hearing this, Mira noticed Lincoln's sisters trapped inside the statues, astonishing her as well.

"We don't know how they got there, either," Lynn muttered, "just don't ask Lincoln what happened to Lori…"

"What happened… to Lori?" the trembling Bobby uncomfortably asked. "Wait… what happened to her?"

"I'll tell you what happened to her!" Uranus haughtily replied. "This Wielder over here foolishly attacked my monster that contained her essence, and her soul has now fueled my ultimate card! And it won't be long before his other sisters are next!"

He proceeded to cackle maniacally over his own claim. But this bit of exposition startled the three who just entered, especially Ronnie Anne. "Lincoln… is this true?!" Ronnie Anne breathlessly asked him. Lincoln shied away, too ashamed to confess that it was. But Lynn, almost defiantly and contemptuously, nodded yes.

"Lincoln…" Mira softly but sadly spoke. It was then that the spirit of Shai appeared beside her. 'Mira!' she hastily greeted her startled partner.

"Shai!" Mira yelped. "How did you get here? I don't have my Duel Disk with me!"

'You may not have your Disk with you,' Shai explained, 'but my spirit will always be with you, whether you possess it or not.'

Mira did remember Shai saying something like that while she was hospitalized. But now was not the time for this kind of reminiscing. "I saw the vision about Lincoln facing some kind of mechanical monster," Mira discreetly said to her spirit partner, "but it doesn't look like it's been summoned yet. Is that why you're here?"

'Partly,' was Shai's response. 'I was with you when Giichi instructed you on the main objective of your interdimensional journey, and I have a strong sense that one of the gateways you must activate is located somewhere here in this abandoned building.'

"That's what I suspected, too," Mira said in agreement. "But we can't go looking for it now – not while that creep's still here!" She pointed directly to Uranus, still on top of the altar.

The emotionally distraught Lincoln, meanwhile, slowly pulled himself together, remembering that he was still engaged in a duel against Uranus. "I don't know what you're planning," Lincoln said, his voice slightly breaking, "but it's not gonna work! I'm not going to attack you – not while my sisters' lives are at stake!"

"We'll see!" Uranus taunted. Looking down at the three newcomers, he added, "Actually, you should be thankful that your little friends arrived – because now they shall know the reason why you truly set out to seek your sisters!

"I activate the Spell Card, Hand Control!" After activating the card, a BLACK MAGIC Spell Card materialized before Lincoln. Its artwork merely depicted a human hand placed over five cards shrouded by a dark purple miasma. "All I need to do is guess the name of a Spell Card – and if it's in your hand, you'll be forced to activate it at once! Of course, I already know what's in your hand, but I also know which one I'm going to force you to activate: Fusion!"

Lincoln flinched, but it wasn't long before he found himself uncontrollably grabbing the card and swiping it through one of his blade's horizontal slots. The WHITE MAGIC Spell Card picturing the two white creatures merging in the fusion vortex materialized.

"Behold, as your Ace Savvy fuses with Swordsman of Roadstar!" Uranus bellowed. Lincoln watched in horror as he saw the black-armored star knight and the red-suited hero slowly merging until they overlaid themselves with each other. Once the two fully merged, there was a burst of white-gold light, and was replaced by the red-suited hero, now clad in the armor worn by the star knight, and wielding the same weapon.

"Behold, the card Lincoln was so ambitious to use: High Card Paladin, Ace Savvy Slash!" Uranus mockingly presented the knight to the audience. [ATK: 2600]

"Lincoln…" Ronnie Anne breathlessly spoke.

"No… No, you got it all wrong!" Lincoln cried defensively, waving his hands. "I didn't do all this just because I wanted to show off this card! I swear, I wanna save my sisters! And for their sake, I'm still not gonna attack – I'm sure I'll find another way out of this!"

"Unfortunately, rescuing your sisters shan't come to pass!" Uranus corrected him as another card materialized in his hand. "Especially not after I gathered all I need to complete my grand plan! Behold – the Spell Card, Hell Draw!" After viciously activating the card, a DEMON MAGIC Spell Card materialized. Its artwork featured a clawed demonic hand riding out of the lava, shrouded by a sinister green miasma with two cards of sinister violet light floating just above its open palm.

"This card lets me draw two cards!" Uranus explained, doing just that. "But after that, I am forced to activate a Spell Card on your side of the field! And I know just the card to give you!"

He flung a card towards Lincoln, which dissipated into green pixels halfway in the process. However, the pixels quickly transferred to Lincoln's field and reassembled themselves, turning into a FIRE Spell Card. Its artwork depicted an enraged War Rock Fortia recklessly charging at the demonic monster featured in War Rock Ordeal.

The mere sight of this card shook Lincoln to his core – he had seen this card plenty of times before, and he unfortunately knew exactly what it did. "Oh, no… not Blinded Rage!" he wailed. "It… It… It forces my monster to attack every one of his monsters!"

"It what?!" Clyde cried in disbelief. Without any further warning, the red-suited swordsman stuck out his blade.

"Wait! Ace Savvy, don't!" Lincoln pleaded. But it was too late – the swordsman charged directly at the mechanical statues containing Lincoln's trapped older sisters, and ruthlessly swung at Leni, Luna, and then Luan, each one of them screaming in agony the moment they were struck.

Uranus also screamed from the pain he sustained from each of their attacks. [LP: 7600 6400] But his screams of pain gradually turned into fits of laughter. "Even if I forced your hand, Wielder," he taunted, "you've still attacked my monsters containing your sisters' essences, and it is just glorious! Now observe, as they join Lori in the ultimate offering!"

The first was Leni, who was shrouded by a white-gold miasma. "Linky," she said with sad doubtfulness, "I know that Uranus was, like, the one who forced you to attack, but you seriously couldn't have just called off the duel? I mean, you've been selfish before, but wow."

"No, Leni, you're wrong!" Lincoln tearfully pleaded. "Please, ya gotta understand! I wasn't sure if calling off the duel would mean you'd be set free!"

"So dueling is more important to you than the safety of your sisters?" Luna glumly asked as she was shrouded by a light blue miasma. "Are we, like, not as important as the card you wanted to use? Just knowing we're all second best just brings me down…"

"No, you are just as important!" Lincoln protested before realizing the mistake in what he just said. "Wait!" he quickly corrected himself. "What I meant to say was-"

"What you meant?!" the visibly agonized Luan wailed as she was shrouded by a light green miasma. "Did you mean to ditch the house because you wanted to show off your card?! Did you mean to endanger us like this?! Did you mean to let this guy force you to attack us, or even duel him, when you couldn't have just found an altar-native?! …Damn it, I still can't laugh at my own jokes!"

All three distressed sisters transformed into ectoplasmic energy of their respective colors, each one shooting up into the rusted card. The armor they were imprisoned in also broke into pieces and got sucked into the portal, flying in the vortex with the dismantled jaguar armor. A white-gold, blue, and green flame lit in each of the unlit fire bowls that previously contained the statues.

At this point, this was all Lincoln could take. He fell to his knees in despair and stared at the ground, tears dropping from his eyes. As his companions just stared at him, some more contemptuously than others, Uranus looked up at the card, now shrouded by swirling miasmas of red, white-gold, blue, and green. 'Yes…!' he gleefully thought. 'All four of the Wielder's sisters are now offered to the card! And once I draw the card I truly need to begin the ritual, my ace will be equal to the greatness of both Jupiter and Itzamna himself!'

He was so excited that he hadn't thought about the cards he just drew. Looking down, he saw one of them was another humanoid statue with a snake motif. 'Itzam Gear Prisoner, Hateful Snake,' he thought as he closely looked at the card. It had the same exact stats and effect as his other Itzam Gear Prisoners, except the Attribute was BLACK MAGIC. 'I would have been able to use this to sacrifice the last of Lincoln's older sisters, had she not avoided getting captured the same way as his others. But I'm still positive that based on what the ritual manuscript foretold, four sacrifices should be plenty to reach my ultimate achievement! And besides, I'm not allowed to summon this monster anyway, since the Spell Card I made Lincoln activate moved us right to the End Phase after his monster attacked!'

"My turn's over, Wielder," Uranus snootily announced. "But are you going to forfeit this duel, or do you have the strength to face me like a true warrior?"

Lincoln, still emotionally crushed, said nothing as he slowly got himself up. After a few suspenseful seconds, the ring appeared around his wrist, a card materializing halfway through the topmost ridge. "I draw!" he shouted, drawing his card.

"What?!" Lynn scolded in disgust. "You mean you're still gonna duel even after what just happened to Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan?! So you really would choose using that Ace Savvy Slash over protecting those closest to you?!" Lincoln's other companions remained speechless. They were certain that Lincoln had good intentions. However, they, even Mira, had to admit that perhaps Lynn did have a point about Lincoln choosing his fascination for his newest card over his sisters' wellbeing.

But Lincoln desperately shook off that claim, then grabbed a card and slid it into one of his blade's horizontal slots. "I place this face-down!" he said as a card materialized before disappearing.

"Battle! Ace Savvy Slash, attack Uranus directly! Steel Suited Slash!" The red-suited knight charged directly towards the altar, then leapt up and slashed his sword across Uranus's chest. [LP: 6400 3800]

"Attack me all you like," Uranus taunted upon recovering. "That doesn't change the fact that I have everything I need to commence the ritual!"

"Okay, I'll bite," the annoyed Ronnie Anne interrupted. "What's this 'ritual' that's part of this 'grand plan' you keep mentioning?! And why did you need Lincoln's sisters for it?!"

"I was wondering when someone would ask," Uranus pompously replied. "I am Uranus, one of the Knights affiliated with the Forces of Itzamna – an organization dedicated to cleansing all of these worlds of impurity and sin, and starting anew!" Everyone had no idea what he was talking about, except for the awestruck Mira – it was closely similar to one of the matters Giichi had informed her about when being briefed about her interdimensional journey.

But Uranus disregarded his audience's ignorance as he went on. "Each of us Knights wield a card containing the essence of an assigned deity affiliated with Itzamna and his top subordinates. But of the cards each of the Knights possess, only two of them are more powerful than the others. But I wanted my ace to be just as equal in their power and greatness!

"Before my departure to my assigned position in this world, I came across a manuscript that contains instructions for a ritual that would reconstruct my ace into one equal to the power and greatness of the aces held by my two superiors! But to achieve this, I had to acquire two things: the presence of Itzamna's Spirit Battle, and the offerings of four people closest to one of the Wielders we seek! …Actually, it was either four or five, but I've reread it multiple times in advance, and I'm positive that I needed to sacrifice four people closest to one of the Wielders! Wielders just like Lincoln… and the girl with the reddish hair right there!" He pointed to the visibly startled Mira.

"Wait, you're one of those so-called 'Wielders?!'" the astonished Clyde asked.

"…Yes, I am," Mira confessed, knowing that her identity was no longer a secret among the present group. To Uranus, she argued, "But if you knew that I was one of the Wielders you're after, why couldn't you have dueled me instead of Lincoln?!"

"It's true that you, too, are one of the Wielders we must defeat," Uranus explained. "But I wasn't sure if the people closest to you were sufficient enough. No, I needed true offerings worthy for the ritual, and who better than blood relatives of a Wielder!? After all, family is more important than friends, am I right?

"Thanks to Puck's spying, I was able to detect you as one of the Wielders we sought, and that you were residing at a household containing a rather large family. I also remember how Lincoln soundly defeated Puck the following day, and how Lincoln dueled in your place to protect you from harm. Only a Wielder would be able to protect their fellow companions like that! And that's when it hit me: If Lincoln is one of the other Wielders we seek, who better to sacrifice than four of his sisters!?"

This last bit of Uranus's exposition left Lincoln's companions with varied reactions of confusion, doubt, and disbelief. They were sure that Lincoln had good intentions, and that he hadn't truly meant to endanger his sisters like that. Then again, Lincoln did sneak out of the house on account of his fascination for his newly acquired card, so his motives weren't exactly what one would call 'heroic.' Regardless, they were weren't entirely sure how to feel about Lincoln and his actions, especially since they themselves hardly knew what to make of Uranus's explanation. With no idea what to think or do, they all just stared at the trembling and distraught Lincoln in dumbfounded silence.

Jupiter, meanwhile, was showing considerable contempt towards Uranus after overhearing his exposition as to why he would sacrifice Lincoln's sisters. "Uranus dares attempt to sacrifice the souls of the innocent to try and strengthen his ace more than he is allowed to?!" she fumed, anger flaring through the eyeholes in her mask. "I shall put a stop to his defiance!"

Raising her arm, she was shrouded in a cluster of yellow pixels, making her disappear from the altar. In a little over a split second, she reemerged through the same cluster beside Mira and the gang. "Uranus!" she shrilled at the subordinate on top of the altar.

"Mistress Jupiter!" Uranus gasped with excitement, quickly rushing down the steps to bow before her superior. "I didn't expect to see you here! I was just in the middle of a battle against this Wielder, and am doing everything in my power to appease you-"

"Appease me?" Jupiter spoke scornfully, contemptuously crossing her arms.

"Yes, you and Itzamna!" the oblivious Uranus exclaimed with a twirl of excitement. "I may have found another one of the Wielders we're after, and I strongly feel that I'm about to make a significant comeback!"

"You don't even know if this child truly is one of the Wielders we seek!" Jupiter thundered. "And don't even think that I haven't heard everything you said about coming across a ritual that would strengthen your ace – you know that only I and Itzamna are allowed to have our ace cards possess such capabilities!"

Uranus was aghast by Jupiter's berating. "But… But Mistress Jupiter!" he cried. "I was only trying to strengthen my ace so that I could help complete Itzamna's grand objective much faster!"

"Your ace doesn't need to be stronger than it already is, and you know that!" Jupiter scolded.

"Don't forget that I assisted you in capturing a handful of other souls for Itzamna's goal!" Uranus argued. "After all, I am destined to be one of the greatest Knights!"

"You were recruited to serve Itzamna!" Jupiter fumed.

"DO NOT DISCOUNT ALL THAT I'VE CONTRIBUTED!" Uranus loudly shouted.

"Listen carefully, you bastardly knave," Jupiter seethed, staring Uranus down. "You are not one of the greatest Knights of Itzamna, nor will you ever be! Who is the greatest Knight is of little importance, yet you continually fail to realize that! And you actually think you would increase your reputation by conducting a ritual you clearly know you're not allowed to perform?!" Uranus was unable to utter so much as a syllable – the mere fact he was being dressed down as a 'knave' was like several daggers piercing his heart.

"Now," Jupiter hissed, "I strictly order you to call off this duel, and release the souls entrapped in that card!"

Uranus remained silent for a few seconds. Then he defiantly screamed, "NO! I will become one of the best Knights of Itzamna, especially after being this close to gathering everything I need to perform the ultimate ritual!" With a superhuman leap, he jumped back on the top of the altar. "IT'S MY TURN!" he shrieked, maniacally drawing three cards. 'Yes! Exactly what I need to complete the ritual!'

"Prepare yourself, Lincoln!" he bellowed. "I activate the card that is not only born from Itzamna's will, but will also be the final step to commencing the ritual! I ACTIVATE – ITZAMNA'S SPIRIT BATTLE!"

He revealed the rusted card with the dark red seal before viciously activating the card. The red seal with the Krana Xa in the center formed, enlarging until it was underneath both Lincoln and the altar where Uranus stood. The shockwave that followed nearly knocked everyone over, except for Jupiter, who was unphased by the force. Mira, however, was starting to get worried – she saw Itzamna's Spirit Battle being used in her recent vision, and she could only anticipate what was to come next.

Meanwhile, Uranus was laughing maniacally, the planetary symbol on his mask amplifying. "With the power of Itzamna's Spirit Battle, everything is all set!" Facing directly at the card above him, he bellowed, "O Great Itzamna, I call upon your power! Accept these offerings, and enhance my assigned god, Ikmen, to further assist you in cleansing these worlds!"

He stretched out his right hand, and green pixels transferred from it to the card. Slowly, some text began to form in both the name and the lore box. Furthermore, an image slowly began to form in the card frame, and it appeared to resemble a mechanical winged humanoid.

"Yes, YES!" Uranus squealed. "With the power of Itzamna, I shall now upgrade Ikmen to – HUNH?!" To Uranus's horror, the text and artwork slowly reversed, leaving the card textless and artless once more.

"No… This can't be happening!" Uranus wailed, falling to his knees. "Could it be… that I did need five offerings for the ritual after all?!"

"It isn't just that," Jupiter scolded through a virtual screen that popped before Uranus. "You have significantly defied Itzamna on multiple occasions through this duel alone! Now once again, I order you to forfeit this match, and perhaps Itzamna will show you mercy!"

But Uranus refused to obey. "If I truly need five sacrifices to acquire my upgraded Ikmen, then I guess Lincoln's will suffice, once I defeat him!" He viciously pointed at the startled Lincoln.

"Maybe I won't be able to use Ikmen now, but don't think I came unprepared!" Uranus laughed as another card materialized in his hand. "I activate the Spell Card, Xibalba Void Fusion!" After activating the card, a BLACK MAGIC Spell Card materialized. Its artwork depicted the dismantled armor pieces of various warriors swirling together in a fusion-like vortex in the same yellow portal featured in its related Field Spell.

"As the name suggests, it lets me Fusion Summon any monster I can make, just as long as I'm able to use all of the monsters trapped in the void! But with the deck I've constructed just for this ritual, it shan't be a problem!" Raising his arms, he bellowed, "Now, empty shells of the Wielder's sisters, become one, and combine to form the monster to grant me ultimate victory!"

The dismantled pieces of mechanical armor in the vortex began to swirl more violently than before, increasing in intensity every few seconds. But it wasn't long before a sickly yellow portal shot down from the portal above to the very bottom of the altar, making the ground shake violently. Now Mira was more scared than ever, because she had a hunch of what was about to happen, based on what she saw in her vision.

"Behold, foolish Lincoln, for this is the last monster you will ever see!" Uranus maniacally bellowed, speaking the exact same words he said in Mira's vision. Suddenly, a roaring mechanical monstrosity shot up from the depths of the earth. Its bottom half was serpentine, but its upper half contained the head of a jaguar inside the mouth of a crocodile, muscular monkey arms, and demonic eagle's wings.

"I FUSION SUMMON – ITZAM GEAR GOD, BOLONTIKU!" Uranus screamed. The monstrous mechanical mishmash unleashed another frightening roar, completely terrifying the onlookers.

With a sinister chuckle, Uranus resumed, "Bolontiku's Attack Points become the combined Attack Points of the monsters I've used to Fusion Summon it. Normally, that would only be thirty-two hundred – however, thanks to Xibalba Void Fusion, all the monsters I used for this card's Fusion Summon have been treated as though they were on the field, and thus will have gained additional power from both Itzamna's Spirit Battle and the 'Wasteland' Terrain!"

"So those 'Itzam Gear Prisoners' of his each have eight hundred Attack Points to begin with," Clyde said, counting on his fingers, "and this 'Wasteland' Terrain gave them two hundred more Attack Points, bringing it up to one thousand. And if I remember correctly, 'Itzamna's Spirit Battle' gives his monsters – oh, no, that means through all that, one Itzam Gear Prisoner's Attack Points would've been fifteen hundred!"

"And with him using four of them," Ronnie Anne frightfully added, "that's a total of six thousand!"

"Combine all that with this Terrain and Itzamna's Spirit Battle in play," Uranus cackled, "that brings my Bolontiku's Attack Points to a grand total of sixty-seven hundred!" The dark red Krana Xa appeared on the monstrous machine's forehead as its eyes shone red. [ATK: 6700] At this point, Lincoln was outright horrified at his current predicament.

"Don't worry, Lincoln," Uranus taunted as he slid another card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. Another card materialized before disappearing. "You'll still be in this duel after Chimera Idol attacks… but only by a thread!" He proceeded to cackle at Lincoln's misfortune, much to everyone else's contemptuous disgust, especially from Jupiter.

"Bolontiku, cut this Wielder down to size! Xibalba Ray!" The mechanical monster unleashed an intense laser from its mouth that was swirling with colors of red, white-gold, blue, and green. The laser struck at the red-suited swordsman, who screamed as he was vaporized. The laser also struck at the screaming Lincoln, violently flinging him backwards and slamming him against the edge of the seal before he fell flat on his face. [LP: 4000 200]

"LINCOLN!" all of Lincoln's friends wailed as they witnessed the attack.

Everyone remained silent as Uranus mockingly observed the boy lying motionless on the floor. But to everyone's surprise, Lincoln slowly struggled to get himself back up. "I… I activate… Ace Savvy's… Last… Last Ace…!" he exhaustedly spoke. The WHITE MAGIC Trap Card materialized on his field, the artwork picturing the regular Ace Savvy struggling to get himself up while holding the ace of spades.

"Since you've destroyed… a monster that mentions Ace Savvy… the real Ace Savvy… comes… right… back…!" A white-gold portal appeared on the floor in front of Lincoln, and the red-suited hero floated up from it. [ATK: 2100]

Uranus was astonished at first. But then he started chuckling at Lincoln's move, which evolved into tauntingly laughing. "Wow, that move just reeks of desperation!" he cackled. "You actually think you can defeat me with a monster like that, especially when you're in dire straits?! …But then again, I am glad you brought out your ace – it only shows how determined you are to use Ace Savvy and its evolution, even at the cost of losing those closest to you!"

He resumed to laughing at Lincoln's expense, which only increased Lincoln's guilt. Aside from the obvious of losing the lives of his four oldest sisters, as well as potentially losing the respect of his remaining friends and companions, he began to wonder why he even brought Ace Savvy back when it was clear he couldn't find a way to win. 'What… have I done?' he tearfully thought.

But just when Lincoln thought all hope was lost, a mysterious voice called to him. 'Lincoln!' The startled Lincoln looked up, and saw that it belonged to a slowly forming silhouette of a red-eyed teenage boy closely resembling Karamar Isonek. Only Lincoln was able to take notice of this silhouetted stranger.

The breathless Lincoln could only bring himself to ask this individual: "Who… are you?"

'I am Itzamna,' the figure introduced himself. 'I am he who has created the origin of all of these worlds, and it is I who provided the knowledge to my fellow creators that resulted in the birth of all of these other worlds, yours included. Unfortunately, I fear that my knowledge may have been taken for granted, for all the worlds have been plagued by impurity, and I must do everything in my power to correct what has been wronged.'

"Y'know, that's almost what that guy said!" Lincoln shouted, pointing to Uranus.

'Yes, and he is the precise reason I am approaching you,' Itzamna explained. 'He may have been appointed one of the Knights, but deep in his heart, he only wishes to achieve fame and glory. That is the only reason he conducted that ritual – to acquire power he is unfit to possess. You, on the other hand, are a much different case – I truly resonate with you, for you and I share a common trait: You feel wronged in only achieving what you believe is right, and for good cause.'

In a way, Lincoln felt Itzamna's claim did make sense, but he still wasn't sure what was going on. "Why… are you here?" he asked.

'Because,' Itzamna solemnly replied, pointing to the rusted card above Uranus, 'both your ambition and your true motives have proven you more worthy of possessing that card than that ungrateful knave! That is the only way to acquire that card with the upgraded power Uranus has failed to acquire! Now go, and punish those who have wronged you, and avenge those you have lost!' He imploded as quickly as he came.

The distressed Lincoln only clenched his eyes shut and ran his fingers through his hair, completely torn by confusion. But eventually, he opened his eyes wide and screamed loudly, stretching his left hand out at the card above Uranus. To everyone's shock, especially for the horrified Uranus, the card above him slowly transformed into orange pixels that transferred all the way to Lincoln's Disk. 'What… What's happening?!' the distraught Uranus thought. 'Why is my card suddenly going to him?! …No…! Could it be that… the great Itzamna is favoring him… over me?!'

Everyone watched in shock as the pixels continued transferring to Lincoln's Disk. About halfway into the process, the pixels slowly transformed from orange to light green, as did the blade of Lincoln's Disk. Even more startling was that just before the completion of the transfer, Lincoln's hair became slightly unruly, and his eyes shone red. Lincoln also showcased an almost demonic demeanor, as if he was possessed and now in a fit of rage.

"Shai!?" Mira cried to her spirit partner who was still beside her. "What's going on?! What's happening to Lincoln?!"

'It must have something to do with Uranus sacrificing Lincoln's sisters like he claimed!' Shai frightfully hypothesized. 'It must've made Lincoln so overwhelmed with despair, making him give in to his rage!'

"But how was he able to acquire Uranus's card like that?!"

'I don't know,' was Shai's ominous response. 'But I sense grave danger for Lincoln…!'

Once the process of Lincoln extracting Uranus's card was complete, he seethed through his grit teeth, lividly glaring at Uranus. His Disk's ring appeared around his wrist, and a card materialized halfway through the topmost ridge. Before drawing the card, his right hand became shrouded by light green pixels. "IT'S – MY – TURN!" he screamed, wildly drawing the card.

Without even looking at the card he drew, he shouted, "You've destroyed me, Uranus, so now it's only fair that I destroy YOU!" He raised the card high into the air, the card being shrouded by a light green miasma. "I ACTIVATE-

"IKMEN'S DESPAIR!"

He ruthlessly swiped the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. A man formed from light green digital pixels. At first, it closely resembled Uranus himself, but it wasn't long before the being quickly shapeshifted to resemble Lincoln, thus horrifying Uranus. Suddenly, there was a strong gust of wind, and everyone tried their best to prevent themselves from being knocked over.

"With Ikmen's Despair," Lincoln snarled, "I get to fuse it with a monster on my side of the field to create a monster of greater power! Now, spirit of Ikmen, fuse with my Ace Savvy!" The green digital figure flew directly into Ace Savvy's chest, making the superhero scream in agony as he was transformed into light green digital wires. During this transformation, Ace Savvy appeared to become demonic, with skeletal wings forming out of his back. It wasn't long before a flash of green light blinded the audience.

"ARISE – ITZAM DEVIL'S ACE, IKMEN SAVVY!"

Emerging out of the light was a completely demonic version of Ace Savvy, whose costume was now tattered, and with skeletal wings. He donned a demonic black steel sword similar to the one wielded by Ace Savvy Slash, and he wore a white mask that resembled Uranus's Krana Vu, complete with the emerald Uranus symbol on the forehead. Upon the demonic hero's emergence, red lights shone through the masks eyeholes, and he unleashed a blood-curdling battle cry. [ATK: 0] Everyone except Jupiter was left shaken. None of them dared to ask how Lincoln could possibly win with a monster that had no Attack Points.

"I activate the card I drew on my previous turn: Graceful Charity!" Lincoln furiously continued. He swiped the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots, and the WHITE MAGIC Spell Card picturing the angel looking down at a card of white-gold light materialized. "This card makes me draw three cards, but then I have to discard two from my hand!" He viciously drew three cards, and then recklessly pressed his finger on two cards, causing them to pixilate.

"Now I activate another Spell Card: Joker's Bower!" After activating the card, the ILLUSION MAGIC Spell Card materialized, the artwork showcasing the grinning face of Joker's Knight surrounded by eleven different colored orbs. "I choose a monster on my field, and then all the monsters in my Graveyard become that monster's Attribute for the rest of this turn! I choose my DEMON MAGIC-Attribute Ikmen Savvy!" Lincoln was briefly shrouded by a sinister violet miasma. "Everything's all set for your ultimate defeat!

"I activate Ikmen Savvy's effect by returning my monsters of different Levels, one to five, from my Graveyard back into my deck! I return my Level One Boost Warrior, my Level Two Doron, my Level Three Swordsman of Roadstar, my Level Four Obnoxious Celtic Guard, and my Level Five Flame Swordsman!" Phantasmal projections of all the aforementioned monsters appeared beside Lincoln, and were absorbed into the demonic swordsman's chest.

"Now Ikmen Savvy will gain Attack Points equal to the combined Attack Points of all the monsters I returned to my deck! And just to do a little quick math for you, that's a total of fifty-six hundred Attack Points!" The demonic swordsman screeched as he swung his sword. [ATK: 0 5600]

"S-Still not enough to defeat me, foolish Lincoln!" Uranus frightfully shouted.

"I wasn't done!" Lincoln barked, making Lincoln flinch. "Since I shuffled five monsters of the same Type and Attribute for this card's requirement, I also get to choose one monster in my Graveyard, and it'll gain even more Attack Points equal to that monster's Attack Points! But as for your monster, it'll lose the same amount of Attack Points! The monster I choose is none other than Ace Savvy himself!" The runes of the demon's black sword shone violet as the phantasmal projection of the red-suited hero appeared before being absorbed into the sword. [ATK: 5600 7700] The swordsman fired a beam of violet energy at the mechanical mishmash, making it roar in agony. [ATK: 6700 4600]

"Even if you destroy my monster," Uranus loudly vowed, "I'll still be in this duel!"

"You've overlooked one thing," Lincoln solemnly corrected him. "Glorious Grandopolis is still in play, which means that when Ikmen Savvy attacks, you take double the damage you'd normally take since he's a monster containing Ace Savvy's name!" Uranus heavily gasped and stepped back in fear.

"That means… Lincoln's gonna win!" Clyde said. But he sounded more concerned than enthusiastic. Mira was the first to take notice of it. "What's wrong, Clyde?" she asked him.

"I dunno…" was Clyde's response. "I should feel happy for Lincoln, but after all that's happened up to this point, I feel kinda different…" And he wasn't the only one – Lynn felt contemptuous towards her younger brother, while Ronnie Anne felt a strong urge of discomfort.

"This is for all you've done to me!" Lincoln loudly bellowed. "Ikmen Savvy, attack and destroy his Bolontiku!" The demonic swordsman flew up and headed directly towards the mechanical mishmash, ready to use his blade.

"You fool!" Uranus shouted. "You've activated my Trap Card, Sakuretsu Armor!" An EARTH Trap Card materialized, the artwork depicting a blue-haired, stone-scaled demon in front of two red-tinted warriors being flung. "It destroys your attacking Ikmen Savvy right on the spot!"

A barrage of stone shards immediately shot out of the Trap Card and headed directly towards the demonic swordsman. However, a swing of the demon's sword unleashed a streak of violet light, completely disintegrating the shards, much to Uranus's horror. "You're the one who's foolish!" Lincoln shouted. "Once I use Ikmen Savvy's effect, he can't be destroyed by Trap Cards this turn!" This shook the already horrified Uranus to his core as the swordsman continued his attack.

"AVENGE MY SISTERS!"

The swordsman ruthlessly slashed his sword across the mechanical monster, creating a massive explosion on Uranus's field. Not only was the machine destroyed, but the yellow portal dissolved, and the altar violently crumbled into massive debris, with Uranus hollering as he fell to the ground below. [LP: 3800 0]

Upon his defeat, a virtual screen displaying Lincoln's profile with the golden 'WIN' underneath popped open before the demonic swordsman faded away. But as Uranus struggled to pull himself from the debris of the altar, the seal shrank until it was directly beneath him. It was then that Jupiter slowly approached the defeated Uranus. "One other thing you should know," she scornfully spoke to her fallen cohort. "All that with you failing to acquire the power for your former ace, and the way Lincoln defeated you with your own card… It was all as Itzamna willed."

"It… It what?!" Uranus squeaked. But before he could say or do anything else, he felt his soul being ripped out of him, spiraling into the air. Once the seal subsided, the lifeless Uranus fell upon the rubble, completely unmoving.

But no sooner had all that happened when Lincoln heavily gasped as if he awoke from a nightmare. His eyes were back to their original state. "Wha… What happened?" he breathlessly asked, looking around. "I remember that Uranus attacked me with that machine o' hi – guys!" He immediately saw his audience, four of them aghast and one looking like her heart shattered into pieces.

"Lincoln… what have you become…?" the heartbroken Ronnie Anne tearfully asked. It wasn't long before she proceeded to bury her face into her brother's shirt and break down sobbing. Bobby tried her best to comfort her.

"Wait, what's wrong with Ronnie Anne? Why's she crying?" the bewildered Lincoln asked. Turning to Clyde, he asked, "Hey, Clyde, you don't know what's wrong with her, do you?"

"I… I can't believe you…" Clyde snorted with disgust, slowly turning away from Lincoln.

"What's going on?!" Lincoln pouted. "Why's everyone giving me the cold shoulder all of a sudden?" He looked at the startled Mira, who remained speechless. Then he shifted his attention to Lynn, the last of his older sisters. "Lynn, I'm just thankful you're okay!"

Lynn flinched, giving Lincoln a look that he had never seen on her before. It was a look that wanted to love him as a sister, and to believe in him. And yet something was holding her back as she regarded him – something like doubt, trust, and uncertainty. It was a look shared by everyone in the group, and as Lincoln remembered everything that happened today, guilt and horror started to reform in his heart.

Mira had the lightest expression of those around him, but it likely due to her being the least connected to him. "Um, Lincoln-" she softly began.

"Are you really Lincoln?" Lynn interrupted, almost listlessly.

"Wh-What are you talking about? Of course I'm Lincoln – why wouldn't I be?" her oblivious younger brother replied.

"But… you're dressed…" the gradually horrified Bobby spoke, his voice trailing off as he pointed at Lincoln.

"Like those guys who attacked us," Clyde finished, also looking at him as if he didn't know what to make of his friend.

"Don't tell me you actually joined them!" Lynn yelled. "That guy just sacrificed our sisters!"

Lynn's words stung Lincoln, who once again became heartbroken. Suddenly, there was a brief flash of yellow light, and Lincoln saw that everyone else was in a state of paralysis. Everyone, that was, except for Jupiter and Mira. As the dumbfounded Lincoln blinked his eyes, Jupiter approached the confused and emotionally distraught boy.

"Do not let the girl's words get to you, child," Jupiter said, consoling Lincoln by placing a hand on his shoulder. "I resonate with the loss of those closest to you, but I can assure you that such an act was out of your control."

"Thanks, but… why are you comforting me?" Lincoln asked, still crushed despite Jupiter's consolation.

"Based on the way you were able to master the power of Ikmen, even with its upgraded power Uranus attempted to harness," Jupiter explained, "our revered creator, Itzamna, sees much potential in you. So much so that you have proven to be a worthy replacement for our previous Uranus…"

It didn't take long for Mira to discover that she wasn't among those who were currently paralyzed, and she heard everything Jupiter said, including her offer for Lincoln to join Itzamna's forces. "Lincoln! Don't do it!" Mira loudly pleaded. "She'll only be using you!"

"Ah, the Wielder of Darkness," Jupiter said, calmly shifting her attention to Mira. "I see that you're not among those I've temporarily stunned. Your Iroa Spirit must be protecting you, I take it?"

Mira didn't know that for certain, but now was not the time for assumptions. Her top priority was to prevent Lincoln from joining an organization as evil as Itzamna's forces. "Lincoln, think about what you're doing!" Mira warned him. "She's only taking advantage of your emotions and trying to trick you into joining her evil team! Don't forget, these guys attacked us!"

"'Taking advantage of him?' 'Evil team?'" Jupiter coolly but mockingly quoted. "Mira, I'm hurt. I'm simply telling Lincoln how Itzamna has resonated with Lincoln's situation."

"I can't let this happen to Lincoln," Mira seethed, "so I challenge you to a Game Duel, here and now!" She raised her arm, but was so concerned for Lincoln's wellbeing, she forgot that her Disk was currently in the care of Lisa. "Damn it, I forgot that I don't have my Disk on me!"

"Save your strength, Wielder," Jupiter said, calmly raising a hand. "I have no desire to duel you at the moment, especially not after what has happened earlier."

"You mean you know that I'm one of the Wielders you're after, yet you don't want to duel me?!" Mira cried in disbelief.

"Unlike some bastardly knaves who shall remain nameless," Jupiter reasoned, "I do possess some level of humanity. Although, it is uncertain if we, ourselves, will be engaged in a battle during Itzamna's quest for purification. However, we know that we do not intend to let Wielders like you stop us. For now, let us retreat with Lincoln – he has gone through quite enough."

"No, I can't let you do this!" Mira shouted.

"What's done is done," Jupiter firmly stated. To the android keeping watch over Lynn, she ordered, "Come, Trinculo – untie the girl, and return to Itzamna's lair." The android, Trinculo, nodded and obediently undid Lynn's bonds before returning to Jupiter's side. The robot then disappeared in a cluster of light green pixels.

"And Mira," Jupiter said ominously, "if you ever see Homanu, please tell him I said hello." She, along with Lincoln, disappeared in a cluster of yellow pixels.

"No! Come back!" Mira shouted, but it was no use. Trinculo, Jupiter, and Lincoln were all gone without a trace. But after their disappearance, everyone broke free of their paralysis, and Lynn quickly but dumbfoundedly discovered her hands were no longer tied.

"Whoa, what just happened?" Lynn cried, rubbing her wrists. "One minute I was chewing Lincoln out, and the next thing I know I'm not tied up anymore!"

"Worse than that – Lincoln's gone!" Clyde cried. Indeed, Lincoln was nowhere to be seen.

"Lincoln's gone?!" Ronnie Anne cried. "But what happened to him?! Where'd he go?!" She, Bobby, Lynn, and Clyde all looked around for any trace of Lincoln, but to no avail.

"Mira! Do you know what happened to Lincoln?!" Bobby pleaded, grabbing hold of Mira's arms.

Mira sadly released Bobby's hold on her and replied, "Unfortunately, I do. You know that one girl, Jupiter, who was chewing Uranus out earlier? …She has him."

This revelation struck fear and sadness into Mira's colleagues. "So Lincoln… is gone?" Lynn cried, her eyes welling with tears. "I… I can't believe it! Was it because of what I said?!" The startled Clyde remained speechless, while Ronnie Anne once again buried her face into her older brother's shirt.

"I doubt it was whatever you said," Mira said, placing her hands on Lynn's shoulders. "And I don't know where Lincoln is now, or what might become of him – but I'll get him back, one way or another!"

"You… You promise?" Lynn sniffled.

"I promise," Mira replied, before embracing Lynn.

"Well, if Lincoln's gone like Mira said," Bobby said, "we should probably be going back. I'll call Lynn's parents and ask tell them where we are, so that we can bring Vanzilla back."

Lynn, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne nodded, and the four were about to walk out of the plant before Mira stopped them. "Wait," she said. "There's something I need to do first."

"What?" asked Ronnie Anne. But Mira didn't reply. She and Shai, the latter of whom once again became visible, began walking around the room for something that would even resemble a gateway that needed to be activated. After a little over ten seconds, Shai's essence caused a technologically advanced pedestal with a Mesoamerican motif to instantaneously materialize. The pedestal included a hollow slot on the front, and the lavender symbol above the slot was a crude eye, the same symbol as the one engraved on Mira's crest.

'This must be the 'gateway' I'm supposed to activate,' she thought. Without any further hesitation, she ejected the crest from her tag, and inserted it before quickly removing the tag. Lavender circuits on the pedestal lit up before the pedestal dissipated into pixels of the same color, never to be seen again.

"Alright, let's go," Mira said upon returning to the others. Her friends weren't sure what happened, but after what they just experienced, especially with Lincoln, they were in no mood for debating. They picked up where they left off: leaving the power plant to inform the police of what just happened.

'Well, that's one gateway unlocked,' Mira thought as the group walked. 'But I know that there are plenty of others to be visited, and who knows what dangers we might face in those worlds… But Lincoln, wherever you are, and whatever happens to you… don't worry. We'll come to rescue you, somehow, someday!'
