Chapter 1: A Broken Soul
It was another day for the Justice League as many were out on missions in the world protecting Earth and it's people as there were others while there were some people who were at the Watchtower doing their assigned tasks. Ever since the events with Luthor and Brainiac, the Justice League had made attempts to be closer to the people and to be more involved in their lives rather than just protecting them.
"I'm glad that things are finally looking up for us with how everything went recently against Luthor. I wonder how he would've changed things or done differently. He always was different from us and could always solve things that no one else could along with disasters being avoided. Makes you wonder how he's doing." Superman said to Batman.
"You're not the only one to have all of that behind you. I'm not sure what could've been different, but we can't be thinking about it now since he went back to his home dimension." Batman replied stoically like usual, but also wondering the same thing.
"It has been two years since he left after all, it would make sense to wonder how the kid is doing. He was certainly something else that's for sure. He could be joking, laughing, happy one moment and than do a 180 the next when he needed to be." Shayera said being nostalgic about the past.
"We're getting off topic here, we're to decide what is next with the league and becoming more involved with the people and gaining their trust back." Batman said getting nods from everyone.
"Well one thing we can do is-" Flash would've continued when the alarm in the tower went off.
"What's happening?" John asked.
"I'm not sure, we need to find out what's causing the alarm to go off. We'll continue this meeting at another time." Batman said as everyone scattered to find the source.
"ATTENTION ALL JUSTICE LEAGUE PERSONELL, THERE'S A DISTURBANCE IN THE CAFETERIA." Someone said pinpointing where the source was coming from.
"We better hurry up and find out what it is. Can't we have one day where nothing is happening at all? Is that too much to ask for?" A young blond woman asked irritably.
She was at the height of 5'4 and had platinum blond hair, beautiful pale blue eyes, C-cup breasts with a slender frame and a firm, but nice ass. She was wearing a suit of sorts that had a blue top that had sleeves going to her wrists with a the letter S on the front. She wore a red skirt that went to her mid thighs and wore boots reaching up to her lower part of her knees.
"I'm not sure, but the sooner we can find out, the sooner we can finish our shift." someone said to her.
They made it to the cafeteria where and a number of other heroes could see a portal opening up waiting apprehension when they saw someone walking out of it. The person looked like he had been through a grinder and more. His clothes were torn with cuts everywhere, blood dripping down his head. He had blond spiky hair that went down to his neck with two bangs framing his face with a headband over his forehead that many people recognized immediately. He had purple rings eyes with tomes in them until his eyes changed to bright blue eyes like the ocean, but what made everyone's breath hitch were the three noticeable whisker marks on each of his cheeks. They heard him say one thing.
"I made it." He said before collapsing from exhaustion and other things that they couldn't tell.
"N-Naruto?" The blond asked worriedly with her breath hitching.
"We need to get him to the infirmary now!" Batman shouted uncharacteristically making others look in shock at his behavior. Normally he was always calm and collected in nearly every situation, so for him to act out like this caught many by surprise, but not for certain members of the league.
"You heard Batman! Get him to the infirmary! Make way!" Superman shouted snapping people out of their shock.
"John use your ring to keep him from furthering his injuries to get him there. I don't want to risk them getting worse. Everyone else go back to what you were doing, there's no threat here." Batman ordered as everyone went back to what they were doing aside from a few people them being Wonder Woman (Diana), Hawk Girl (Shayera Hall), Flash (Wally West), Green Lantern (John Stewart), Superman (Clark Kent), Batman (Bruce Wayne), Martian Manhunter (J'onn Jones), and lastly Supergirl (Kara Danvers).
"What happened to him? He looks like he went through a war zone or something." Flash asked horrified seeing the blond boy in such a state.
"I don't know, but whoever did this will be in world of pain." Hawkgirl growled with her mace electrifying.
"I know what you mean. To see Naruto like that would be hard to see, knowing how tough the kid is, but we can't do anything about it now until he recovers and wakes up." Superman said angered and worried for him.
They all looked at the blond girl who looked like she'd been sucker punched by Dark Side her face looked pale and white horrified by seeing one of her best friends in two years in a death-like state scared her tremendously.
"Kara?" Superman asked softly.
She didn't say anything, but flew off at speeds the Flash would've been proud of to where they were taking Naruto so she could be with him as he recovered.
"She'll be alright Supes. She's just worried about him. You know how close they were when he was here. They were nearly inseparable and came to be the best of friends to each other." Flash said.
"I couldn't agree more. Poor boy, we'll take turns watching him so nothing happens during his recovery here until he wakes up." Diana said wanting to the see the boy she saw as a son.
"Agreed. I'll let you, Hawkgirl, and Supergirl watch first since you three are the closest with him." J'onn said as he didn't wanting to further anger them by wanting to watch over him as he could see how they looked like they wanted to murder someone making the other guys step back from them.
'If whoever did this to him, I pray you aren't found by those three, they'll be as good as dead.' The men thought scared even the infamous calm Batman couldn't help, but sweat a little.
They managed to get Naruto to the infirmary and set up with monitors, iv's, a breathing tube, bandages over him and other things that they would need with Kara sitting in a chair next to him taking his hand in hers as she wept silently.
"Who could've done this to you Naruto? Please recover soon, I don't need you getting hurt anymore." Kara said to him scared for him.
Doctors walked in with notes on what Kara assumed were about Naruto.
"What do you have so far?" She asked.
"It's incredible, he's healing at an accelerated rate much like the Flash except he isn't healing as fast, but we don't know what is causing it. From what I can tell is, he'll be okay in a few days and with proper rest too. He'll need some therapy because the damage he sustained would've paralyzed a lot of other people and seems to be struggling internally as well. His brain waves show that he's battling in his mind about something, but we won't know what it is until he wakes up." He said.
Kara breathed a sigh of relief in knowing he'd be okay, but was scared on what could be happening in his mind. She knew about his Jinchuriki status and how he was treated in his village, but it never stopped him before. Things must've gotten worse and something happened to him.
Hours had gone by and people had been talking about the new guy appearing suddenly and how the original members and Supergirl knew him as they would take turns watching him as they never paid this much attention on someone or worry about someone. Than again he was in horrible shape when he appeared out of nowhere. It was startling to them to see him looking as he did.
Two Days Later
Not much has changed for Naruto's condition except for how he healed so quickly as it was similar to the Flash's speed healing, but a little slower. They also had been running tests on him to find out he had multiple fractures, broken bones, dislocated shoulder, among other things and it was astonishing as to how he was still alive, but the ones who knew him just assumed it was Naruto being too stubborn to die. When they saw the scar on his chest, they wondered what caused that since Naruto never mentioned anything like it as it looked to be at least a few years old, but would worry about it later.
Kara rarely left his side not wanting to miss him as she would see tears leak his eyes thinking he was having nightmares making her worry even more about what happened to him. Diana, Shayera, Flash, and Superman would spend about as much time with him as Kara did, but would let her be there the longest knowing their friendship and how much she cared for him.
Naruto's eyes fluttered open groaning when he saw the bright light wondering where he was until his eyes cleared making it easier for him to see.
"W-Where am I?" He asked weakly when he saw Kara sleeping with her head on his bed he smiled at her as she had grown even more beautiful in his mind which he thought was impossible.
He squeezed her hand gently which stirred her awake when she saw him smiling at her she gasped and hugged him like her life depended on it.
"NARUTO!" Kara sobbed as she hugged him tighter not wanting him to disappear.
"Shh. It's okay, I'm here Kara." Naruto said weakly calming her down as he was rubbing her back.
She calmed down as she looked at him with concern in her eyes making him raise an eyebrow.
"What's wrong?" He asked, but immediately regretted it as she glared at him reminding him of how his mother Kushina used to do that.
"What happened to you Naru? When you arrived you were in horrible condition. You were nearly dead and it scared me and everyone else." Kara asked teary eyed.
He sighed knowing how difficult this would be to explain knowing how they would react.
"That's a long story and one I don't want to explain more then once, so do you mind getting your cousin, Diana, John, J'onn, Wally, Bruce, and Shayera for me? They will want to hear about this as well. It would be to troublesome" Naruto said getting a nod from her as she walked out, but not before glancing at him one more time before leaving.
Naruto looked around the room he was in to see how vastly different last time he was her and he was impressed as he noticed that there were others there.
'They must've expanded on the league like they planned. Good for them, it was hard enough when it was just the 9 nine of us back than.' He thought.
With Kara
Kara had been looking for the founding members when she was told that they were in the conference room in a meeting. She said thank you before leaving to go tell them.
When she got there, she knocked on the door and waited as she knew they were in a meeting.
"Come in." She heard her cousin say.
When she walked in she saw everyone was there with her cousin smiling at her, Batman looked like Batman similar to John, but not as menacing, everyone else was curious to what could she need.
"What is it Kara?" Her cousin asked.
"Naruto's awake and when I asked what happened, he said to get you guys since you'd want to know. He also said it would be a troublesome to explain more than once." She said with everyone chuckling what she said at the end.
"Fair enough. I see at least some things haven't changed with him. We should get going since I doubt he wants to be there any longer than he wants to be if he still hates hospitals like before." Shayera laughed.
"That's true. He kept grumbling about stupid hospitals." Kara giggled with everyone laughing even Bruce smirked.
"Let's go than. I've been worried though this whole time myself." Diana said with a serious look.
"Yeah me too. I've missed him as well." Flash said with a grin.
"You're not the only one. Let's go as he deserves a beating for scaring me like that." Shayera said cracking her knuckles.
"Maybe you shouldn't be so hard on him since I doubt it was his fault with how he looked when he got here." John said calming her down, but still would give him an earful as they all followed Kara.
With Naruto
'Kurama you still there buddy?' Naruto asked him.
'Yeah I'm here. You're lucky to have gotten here when you did otherwise you would've been off a lot worse.' Kurama said.
'Don't remind me. I still can't believe after everything that happened, they tried to kill me. Even Grandma Tsunade tried and seeing the anger and hate in her eyes.' He got teary eyed.
'Damn it Tsunade! This is all your fault, why did you have to become like everyone else when he only had me at the time?! If I ever meet you again, I'm going to kill you for what you and everyone else did to the kit. He's broken now because you stupid bitch.' He said to himself.
'I think your friends are coming in now, we'll talk more later.' He said ending the link between them.
"Hey kid, it's good to see you. You had a lot of us here worried about you when you appeared out of nowhere. Mind explaining what happened?" John asked.
"Yeah, but it'll take awhile to explain, so might want to sit down and get comfortable." He said with a sigh.
They all gathered around with chairs as they assumed it would take awhile. Naruto went on to explain about the group known as the Akatsuki who he told were capturing the Jinchuriki's and sealing the Tailed Beasts in the Gedo Mezo Statue killing the Jinchuriki's in the process until there were just him and the eight tailed Jinchuriki known as Killer Bee left. The true leader invaded the Kage's meeting instigating the Fourth Great Ninja War making them gasp with Diana, Kara, and Shayera worried since he was so young to be in a war with John, J'onn, Clark, Flash, and surprisingly Bruce growled knowing how it would change him. He went on to explain how the real Madara had been revived and was able to become the ten tails Jinchuriki after betraying Obito. With Madara killing Sasuke and as Naruto struggled, he managed to seal him into himself along with the Juubi making him the new Juubi Jinchuriki, but when he returned he wasn't expecting for everyone he ever cared about to start attacking him calling him names like a monster, demon, Juubi, among other things angering the group of hereos. When the person he saw as a grandmother even took part in it trying to kill him it broke his heart as he never expected her to do any of the sort. It didn't take long after that for them to have him on the ropes with him being too exhausted and injured from the war as they were beginning to overpower him until he managed to open a portal by accident, but didn't question it as he took it as an opportunity to escape his death and he arrived in the Watchtower. By the end of it he was crying his heart out and couldn't stop shaking as everyone he ever knew and loved turned their backs on him trying to kill him and let their angers and losses consume them breaking his heart, especially Tsunade, Shizune, and Gaara.
No one could believe what they heard or what to think as it was hard to see the usual cheerful and smiling blond young man look so broken both mentally, emotionally, and physically. They were all horrified by him being in a war and everything that he went through and to top it off his family and friends all tried to kill him for simply hosting the Juubi who was still Kurama.
Diana, Kara, and Shayera wanted nothing more than to go there and kill all of them for wanting to kill someone they considered a nephew/aunt. They could understand where he was coming from when they met him and finding out that he was from another dimension and away from everything he knew. It brought them closer together and they would treat him like a son/nephew more than anything and it made him smile more knowing they thought of that of him. They wanted to hug him and let him cry, but let Kara be there at the moment.
The men were also wanting to go and "speak" with them even Batman who hated killing wanted to do something along those lines. Clarks eyes started glowing red, Johns ring began glowing, Wally began vibrating at a dangerous pace, and J'onn's eyes began to glow as well wanting to fry all of their brains with his telepathy. They thought of Naruto as family hated hearing how he was treated by everyone he knew.
"Shh. It's okay Naru. They won't hurt you anymore and you're here with us now." Kara soothed him.
After a few minutes he was able to calm down to a degree.
"Now that you're back, what is it you're going to do now?" Shayera asked softly.
"I'm not sure. I want to settle down somewhere, but not sure where yet. I'm tired from all of the fighting though, so I may not take up being a hero for a long time or ever. I just want to live peacefully." He said unsure of anything.
"Why not stay with me in Kansas?" Kara asked surprising him, but not so much the others.
"I don't know. I don't think you want someone as broken as me living with you right? I appreciate the offer though. I'm sure I'll figure something out." He said with a fake smile that everyone caught.
"No, it would help you recover having a familiar face. That and Ma and Pa would like to see you again as well, maybe even help him out on the farm. He could use an extra pair of hands out there." She argued making him sigh.
"You aren't going to let this go are you?" He asked seeing her smirk and nod.
"You got that right. Right now you don't need to be alone, but with friends and family." Kara smiled.
"She's right you know. Being alone would make things worse for you, so living with the Kents would indeed help you." J'onn said with Batman agreeing with him.
"Hmm okay fine. When would we leave?" Naruto asked.
"When you're checked out, so a couple of days at most." Kara said getting a groan from Naruto having to be in the hospital or infirmary longer making everyone chuckle at his antics. At least some things haven't changed for him.
Naruto nodded at this and everyone left, but not before giving him a handshake or a hug, until it was just Diana and Shayera left as Kara left to go talk to John and Martha about the arrangement.
"You're going to be okay. You know that right Naruto?" Diana asked softly.
"I know I will and thank you for looking out for me, but I'll be alright you two. I always do bounce back." He assured them, but was failing.
"You don't have to lie to us about it. You're like family to us and a son to her and a nephew to me. Please don't lie trying to assure us when you need us right now. We'll always be there for you." Shayera said as she kissed his cheek wiping it with her thumb over his tears leaving with Diana doing the same, but not before kissing his other cheek making him blush in embarrassment.
"Mom! Auntie!" He yelled as they laughed at his embarrassed state.
With Diana and Shayera
"You think he'll be okay?" Shayera asked worried for him as he would be suffering from what happened to him.
"I do hope so. He's a strong young man, but we'll be there for him though like he was for us when it was just the nine of us back than." Diana replied with a frown.
"You bet your ass we will, but no one will be there more so than Kara. You know how much she cares about him. It's easy to tell that she has feelings for him much more than a friend, but knowing how dense he is, he might not see it." Shayera smirked with Diana shaking her head.
"You're going to help get them get together aren't you?" Diana asked.
"Of course I am. Even Superman would let it happen since he cares for Naruto like a son. He needs her and they'd be cute together too." Shayera said with a grin.
"I can't argue with how well they'd look together and with the fact that he'll need her, but try not to push too much." Diana said with a sigh.
"I won't be doing too much, especially if they'll be living together now, most of it will be happening on it's own. Seriously though, I'm glad he's here now things will be interesting and will have to catch up with him. Maybe he can help us on missions from time to time." The winged woman said.
"That's true and I feel the same way with him being here again. I just worry how he'll change as something like this will no doubt affect him and has me worried. He won't be doing anything of the sort right now with him recovering and it might be a good idea to have him out once he's recovered enough as it would keep him busy. Wonder what he'll do in the meantime though until he can work with us again if he decides too that is?" Diana asked at the end.
"Maybe write again, you remember how good he was before right? He must've improved even more, but we'll have to wait and see what he'll do." Shayera said.
Two Days Later
It had been an interesting two days for the blond male as he would get visitors from other members of the league and had met quite a lot of them and had enjoyed their company. One of the ones who did visit him more was someone called Oliver Queen who was also called Green Arrow. He was a human that had skill like Batman and no powers. He'd come in and they'd play cards and talk about a lot of things, much to his embarrassment, he talked about his times with his girlfriend named Dinah Lance with her league name being Black Canary. He even brought her once or twice and he had to admit she looked beautiful. They got along well and much to his embarrassment she'd tease him about him checking her out which wasn't true and Oliver knew it was a tease so he'd join in on it making him blush like Hinata level red nearly fainting.
Another person who he got reacquainted with was Kara's best friend Barbara Gordon who was known as Batgirl one of Batman's coworkers and was his and Kara's age too. She had red hair and had blue eyes. She had a similar build to Kara with a bubbly yet firm ass like hers. She was beautiful. She had a smaller frame, but had an athletic build with a toned stomach and wide hips like Kara. She had met him before and would hang out on occasion, but wasn't like with Kara yet he enjoyed her company. They would visit together and would talk about any number of things while playing poker which they cursed as he seemed to win all the time making them grumble about unfair and the devil's luck.
The original members would make visits on him to check on how he was doing, but they noticed how he would keep quiet for the most part almost like he was scared of them, maybe not of them, but for their rejection and if they'd betray him too like his former friends had. It broke their hearts to see that look on his face with Shayera, Diana, and Batman boil in rage and vowed if they ever met Tsunade and anyone else from his world that they would make them pay for what they did to him.
Now we find Naruto being checked out finally getting a long sigh from him.
"It's about time I could get released I thought I'd never get out of there." Naruto said in exasperation.
Kara giggled at his antics.
"It's not so bad. They were just doing their jobs and making sure you were ready to leave. Can't blame them for taking care of you." She said with a smirk.
"You know I hate hospitals or anything like it." He argued getting a giggle from her.
"We should go now. Ma and pa are expecting us and have a room ready for you." Kara said.
"I still don't like taking up a room at your house. I can take care of myself." He said, but a glare from Kara shut him up further.
"You may be able too, but with what happened, I would feel a lot better if you stayed with us. You're hurting still and I don't mean physically as much, but more emotionally. We still have some physically that you'll be doing as well. So please let me help you Naruto?" Kara asked begging.
"Sigh. Alright. I hear you loud and clear Kara. Just stop with the using those eyes. I can't take it anymore." he said as Kara grinned and surprised him by kissing his cheek making him sputter.
They walked until they got to the teleportation pads with J'onn waiting for them.
"We're ready J'onn." Kara said getting a nod from him.
"Do be careful Naruto and I hope you can be safe and will be okay." J'onn said with a smile.
"Of course. I'll be fine in no time and thanks for looking after me. See you around." Naruto said as they disappeared from their spots.
Kent's House
They appeared at the front of the house as Naruto smiled seeing that nothing had changed on the outside.
Kara seeing this smiled seeing an actual smile from him for once. He rarely gave those since he came back and it was worrying her that he would be smiling less and be the kind and happy person she knew.
"Hard to believe that nothing has changed. It has been a couple of years, so I expected something different, but this is okay." Naruto said.
"Only two years you've been gone, but I can understand what you mean. Come on let's head inside, ma and pa are looking forward to seeing you again." Kara dragged him into the house.
"Ma, pa we're home!" Kara shouted.
"Welcome back Kara. Naruto. It's so good to see you again." Martha said with a smile seeing the young man again.
"Hello Mrs. Kent. It's good to see you too and to be back." Naruto returned with his own.
"Now now. You know not to call me Mrs. Kent. Call me ma like Kara and Clark do. My you've gotten taller and more handsome. Kara sure is lucky isn't that right dear?" Martha asked with a smirk making Kara blush at the thought.
"That's true. Good to see you boy. Hope you've been doing okay. Heard you needed a place to stay for awhile and we're glad that you're staying here. I could use some help on the farm since Clark isn't able to be here as much with him living in Metropolis." John Kent said.
"Thank you for letting me stay here. As much as I tried to tell Kara that I'd be fine getting a place of my own, but she's very stubborn about it. I'll be glad to help out on the farm. Must be harder without having some help." Naruto said.
"Kara can show you to your room and than she'll be taking you out shopping for clothes and some other things, but make sure to be back by dinner." Martha said as Naruto and Kara went upstairs.
"I do hope that Naruto will be okay. From what Kara and Clark told us, he arrived where Kara and Clark were looking horrible and finding out that the home and people he fought for turned their backs on him, must've hurt him." Martha said worried as she noticed how different he just seemed and how guarded he was.
"He'll be okay in time. Kara will be there for him every step of the way. She may not realize it, but it's easy to see she cares about him greatly beyond that of a friend. She'll help him get through this, but it won't be easy for him." John smiled at his wife as he hugged her.
Fifteen minutes later they came back down as Kara took the truck into town to take Naruto shopping like was planned.
"Well here we are, now we need to find a variety of clothes for you since I don't want you wearing the same ones over and over again as it would be lame on your part. Let's go!" She shouted dragging him to the clothes section to find a large amount of clothes for him.
Hours went by and they had managed to have enough clothes for him to wear and he wouldn't have to worry about anymore.
"It's about time we finished. I'm not sure how much more I could take from being your dress-up doll. I feel like you enjoyed this a little too much for my tastes don't you think?" Naruto asked while she smiled "innocently".
"I'm not sure what you're talking about? I was merely wanting to make sure you had enough clothes for a while. We'll have to worry about other things such as a tv and the likes until you can afford it." Kara said with an innocent smile on her face making him grumble about girls and their shopping habits.
"That reminds me. I do have a way to earn some money." Naruto said.
Naruto looked at his wrist that had kanji for storage and he pushed chakra into it creating a puff of smoke and when it cleared some books were revealed that she hadn't seen before.
"What's with the books Naru?" She asked confused.
"You see I can go to a publisher and get these books out for people to read. I'd have to translate them to English since it's written in Japanese, but that shouldn't be too hard to do. These were my godfather's books with his first one and his series." Naruto said sweating a little knowing exactly what books they are.
"Awesome. What are they about? I can help with the translation since I know Japanese too and my English is a little better than yours." She asked excitingly making Naruto more nervous not sure what to say about them.
"It's nothing. I can handle it no problem, but thank you." He answered quickly, but it didn't help at all.
"Oh really? Why can't I help? You make it sound like you don't want me to read them. Any reason why?" She suspiciously asked.
Naruto was sweating bullets by this point making her narrow her eyes.
"It's just I'm sure you have stuff to do with the league and I wouldn't want to take time away from that." He responded hoping she'd buy it.
Kara stared at him for a minute looking for any lies, but found none and nodded.
'Oh thank god. If she had stared at me like that any longer I would've cracked.' He said to himself.
'Whipped' Kurama laughed.'
'Shut up Kurama! No one asked you?' He shouted ending the link.
"Well now we have everything we need for the time being. It's almost dinner time anyway, and ma wouldn't be too happy if were late to dinner." She said as they checked out of the store and headed home for the night.
The rest of the night went pretty good, they had dinner with John and Martha which was nice. They talked for awhile with John talking to him about what to expect and what he will be doing on the farm and if he had any plans aside from that which they were told about him publishing his godfather's books under Jiraya instead of his name for not wanting people to know. He also said that he wanted to start training his new powers that he gained from the Juubi. He admitted he thought about separating the Juubi back into the nine tailed beasts again, but Kurama said it would kill him as it would be like having them extracted, so he had to accept it for the time being.
It was late in the night as everyone was asleep when Kara woke up to get a drink of water when she passed by Naruto's room as he heard him mumbling things.
"Die demon!"
"You Monster!"
"You're not my grandson! You filth!"
"We're going to kill you for everything you did in this war."
Those words were appearing in his dream making him whimper.
"I'm not the Juubi though. Please don't do this." He pleaded in his sleep as tears were being shed.
"I'm so sorry Naruto." She whispered to herself out loud.
She decided to comfort him, so she stepped into his room and sat down next to him and took his hand in hers making him relax slightly.
"I promise I'll help you get back on your feet. You won't be alone anymore." Kara whispered as she sat there for a few minutes when he settled down and went back to bed after getting something to drink.
And that's the end of the chapter. I hope you guys enjoyed it. This one will be a single pairing, so no requests on who else he should be with as it won't happen this time.
