Darkness once again has taken the skies...nothing but the sounds of fire and blood curdling screams echoed across the hollow forests. Down in the darkened grass was the lone red hooded girl, Ruby Rose, searching her surroundings...more Grimm appearing to attack the village. She won't let that happen, as long as Team RWBY's by her side.
"Blake! Go with Weiss! Evacuate as many as you can! Yang, let's keep up the suppression!" Ruby orders
"You got it, sis!" Yang complies, punching a nearby Ursa away.
The two sisters take out anymore Grimm they could see, a slash here, a punch there and a series of shots everywhere. Ruby and Yang were able to kill enough Grimm until there was one lonely Beowulf. The Grimm whimpers and starts running away
"Hey! Get back here you!!" Ruby shouts, chasing the Beowulf into the woods.
"Ruby, wait!!" Yang calls out but her words fall on deaf ears.
Ruby continues to chase after the past Grimm, Petal Bursting around enough trees to scare it. Ruby was right on its tail until...it disappears into darkness, not even a trace. Ruby skids herself to a stop, noticing she's alone in the dark woods covered in snow. She stands still to listen for...anything, the fire, people's screaming...even the call from her sister...but nothing. Only dead silence.
"Yang?!" Ruby calls out, her voice echoes to the silent ambiance
"HELP!!! Somebody please help me!!!"
Ruby nearly jumps from the sudden scream that sounded closer. A scream she's too familiar with.
"Yang?! Where are you?!!" Ruby calls out.
"Ruby!!! Please help me!!" Yang cries out
Ruby quickly runs toward the agonizing screams. She runs and runs as fast as her own Semblance could take her.
"Yang!!! Say something!! I can't find you!"
"Ruby!! RUBY!!!! AAAAAAGGGHH!!!!"
"YANG!!!!"
Ruby was in a panic, her sister's in danger and she can't find her. She looks behind, then her left, then her right. Trying to find whatever direction the screams are coming. Ruby bursts to her left, she hears gunshots and the sight of explosions in the distance. She's close, she can make it, she just needs to be faster
once she arrived to the source of the screaming...she sees Yang laying against the tree, covered in her own blood and about to be finished by a pack of Grimm.
"Yang!!!" Ruby cries, charging at the Grimm
In an act of desperation, Ruby swings and shoots her weapon at every Grimm in sight. Dodging their attacks and returning twice as fierce.
Ruby stops herself to catch her breath, looking at the bodies of dissolving Grimm everywhere. Panting, nearly out of breath, but she did it...she saved Yang...
"Yang!" Ruby turns around only to notice...she's not moving. "Yang...?"
Ruby slowly approaches her sister's buddy, crouching down and nudging Yang to wake up...but nothing. She failed...failed to save her sister, failed to make it in time, this is because she ran off alone.
"Ruby..."
The young girl gasps, that voice...it couldn't be, they're supposed to be helping the villagers. Ruby slowly turns around, sees Weiss and Blake lying on the ground, bleeding with their broken weapons at their side. How are they here? Why are they here?
"There's no one left...we went back to help Yang until...until..." Weiss coughs out whatever blood she still has. "Ruby...why?"
Ruby couldn't think straight, the way they're looking at her...thinking she's the enemy. She looks at her palms only to notice the blood stand on them...the same blood staining Crescent Rose's blade. It didn't take long for Ruby to figure out what happened...but she didn't want to believe it; tears surfacing the corner of her eyes.
"No...I couldn't have...I didn't mean to-," Ruby chokes on her words, she tries to speak whatever excuse she has...but they only feel like lies. "I wouldn't do this to you...please."
"I trusted you, Ruby. I gave you a chance and this...this is how you repay me?" Weiss is nearly on the verge of tears, her fingers gripping the snow under her. The look of sorrow gradually changes to one of anger, the feeling of betrayal. "I was right all along, you're not fit to be a leader...you never were..."
"People don't get a fairy tail ending..." Blake chokes, looking at Ruby, who gazes back with hurtful eyes. "This is the only ending...for people like us. Always remember that."
Ruby couldn't speak, the grief and self-loathing was too much for the girl to say anything. She hangs her head low in regret, the bodies of her teammates dissolve into rose petals. Ruby's alone...with no one to turn to...nobody there to pick her up again; She's supposed to keep her teammates safe and she failed...failed as leader, failed as a Huntress...failed as a hero. Her regrets stop when she hears something growling, Ruby lifts up her head and sees the red glowing eyes of a Beowulf hiding inside the bushes. She tries to reach for her weapon...but feels nothing, only the snow of where her scythe should be. She was trapped...no way to run, no weapon to defend herself. Ruby wanted to run but her body wouldn't let her...she was too scared to move, too tired. The Beowulf runs out the bushes and lunges at the young girl. Ruby raises both her arms up in defense and screams for dear life when...

Ruby wakes up with a sudden scream, able to escape from that terrible nightmare. She clutches her hand to her chest, steadying her rapid breathing, drenched in a cold sweat. She looks around her dorm room to see her team still sleeping in their respective beds; they're alive, they're ok. Still terrified, Ruby pulls in her legs and wraps her arms around them, curled up into a tiny ball. What a horrible, horrible nightmare, but at least it's over...why would Ruby have such a dream like that? Was it just her worries...or was it a message? Realizing the paranoia in her thoughts, she quickly shakes them away; it's better she doesn't think of it anymore. Ruby looks at the time to see it's 3:20 AM, figuring she won't get much sleep, she carefully climbs down from her bunk, picks up her combat gear and goes into the bathroom to change. After a moment of changing, Ruby steps out of the bathroom fully dressed and carefully leaves the dorm room, as to not wake her teammates up.

The screams never stop, people are dying everywhere and there's nothing anyone can do. Fenrir knows this, that's why he shouldn't stop running, not if his life still depended on it. He never felt so powerless as he is now; a scared little boy who's too afraid of anything to fight back, he couldn't save his parents, couldn't save the people...all he's good for is saving himself, like a coward.
Fenrir looks back if there's any Grimm still following, until he trips on a rock and hits the ground, face first into the snow. It hurts...everything hurts; his head, his legs, his arms, everything is so sore. He just wants everything to be over, why can't he be strong? What did Fenrir ever do to deserve this much tragedy? The growls start again, Fenrir looks up from the snow to see Beowolves approaching from behind the trees. They can smell the fear, the sadness, emotions the Grimm practically feed off. They see their prey, Fenrir, and they're starving.
Fenrir picks himself up, but is too tired to stand. He crawls away from the Grimm as well as he could, as the Beowolves jump around, barking and growling, playing with their prey. Fenrir's back hits the tree, gasping, he can't escape anymore...he's too tired to run...this is the end for him. He's scared...he doesn't want to die, but there's nothing else he can do...it's over. Fenrir closes his eyes, waiting for his demise.
Instead of the painful end he was expecting, he hears the Beowolves howling and whimpering in fear. Fenrir opens his eyes, seeing a figure cloaked in black, decimating the Grimm with its scythe, the figure's eyes glowing as bright as the moon. For the first time...Beowolves feel genuine fear against whoever this savior is. After the reaper kills enough Beowolves, the rest whimper and run away from them, they're evil but they're smart enough to understand when beaten.
Fenrir gazes upon his savior in awe, just who is that? The figure glances at Fenrir behind them, then turns around, slowly approaching him with their eyes still glowing brightly under their hood. Fenrir almost thought this savior was just another attacker, so in fear, he braces himself for whatever the figure's about to do. Instead, they gently kneel in front of him, pocketing their scythe under the cloak and rummages for something else. Fenrir looks at the figure curiously as they pull out a red rose from their cloak and offer it to him.
Fenrir can almost feel the mystical glow from one simple flower...the aura it gives off. When he carefully takes the rose off the figure's hand, Fenrir can feel every type of emotion it's giving simply by touching it. Hope, Compassion, Bravery, Honesty...Love. Every single feeling he hasn't felt in a while.
When Fenrir looks at the figure, the glow from their eyes began to shine brighter. The shine was almost too much for Fenrir's eyes to handle as he quickly closes them before it becomes too much.
*
Fenrir opens his eyes to see the dark area of his dorm room, his teammates still asleep. He sits up from his bed, rubbing his eye from the odd dream he had. Fenrir had odd dreams before...but this feels out of the norm; it felt more like a normal dream than the usual nightmares he always had.
He looks at his teammates, Jotaro is sleeping soundly, wearing his sleep mask in a position that would almost make it look like he's in a coffin. River is asleep, music still playing through his headphones; Fenrir still has no idea how he's able to sleep like that, or it could be for canceling out the monstrous snoring from Crimson. His snoring is so bad, people could easily mistake him for a Grimm.
Fenrir looks at the digital clock beside him; it's 3:10 AM, suppose he can use the rest of his time to get some fresh air. The shattered moon would be a nice sight to help him meditate too, hopefully nobody will see him going out past curfew.
Fenrir grabs his combat gear and steps in the bathroom to change. He steps out a few minutes later, dressed in his gear and carefully steps out of his dorm so the boys won't wake up from the noise.

Ruby arrives in the woods near Academy grounds, feeling a moonlit walk will help clear her mind from that nightmare. She continues walking, hearing only the sound of her feet crunching against the soft grass and the occasional owls hooing. Ruby stops and sits down against the nearest tree, looking up at the shattered moon, its shine reaches through the crack of leaves and branches. Ruby continues to stare at the moon and smiles...she feels calm, relaxed. When Ruby looks to her left, she sees Fenrir sitting on the grass, near the cliff's edge where their initiation started.
"Fenrir? What's he doing up so late?" Ruby whispers. She stands up and carefully sneaks behind the trees, getting a closer look at Fenrir. She stops at the closest tree behind him, peeking out so she can get an idea as to what Fenrir's doing.
"You can come out, Ruby, I know you're hiding." Fenrir speaks up, making Ruby gasp in surprise.
Sighing, Ruby sees no point in hiding. She steps out from behind the tree and approaches Fenrir, who looks at her with a smile.
"It's alright, I don't bite." Fenrir chuckles, patting on the grass beside him, ushering her to sit with him.
"How'd you know it was me?" Ruby asks, sitting beside Fenrir
"It was your scent that gave it away." Fenrir answers.
"My scent?" Ruby asks, tilting her head in confusion
"The perfume you were wearing, not so easy to forget." Fenrir clarifies, tapping his nose.
"Right...guess that would explain it." Ruby chuckles nervously. "How're you able to smell things so well?"
"The kind of Huntsman training my grandmother offered made sure I'd rely on more than just sight. Considering there's a chance I may lose that asset." Fenrir says, caressing his eyepatch. "So...what brought you out here?"
Hesitant to answer, Ruby turns her head away from Fenrir, too reserved to tell him about the nightmare she had
"Well...I couldn't really sleep so uh...I thought I could just go for a walk at night." Ruby chuckles, avoiding eye contact
"Really? What kept you up?"
"Umm...well it's...it's a bit embarrassing..."
"You had a nightmare." Fenrir assumes.
"Y-Yeah! Wait, how did you know that I...?"
"I know that look on your face, I had nightmares frequently. You know it's nothing to be ashamed of."
"I know...it's just not easy to talk about."
Ruby wraps her arms around her legs. Fenrir can see the anxiety building in her, can practically smell it.
"Do you WANT to talk about it? I'm happy to listen if this is bothering you."
Ruby gives Fenrir's words some thought, sighing, she decides to be open with her nightmare and recounts everything that happened, how she was defending a village with her team, running off without them, seeing them all dying, and getting attacked by the Beowulf. Ruby explained every little detail she could remember as Fenrir silently listened
"And...when the Beowulf lunged at me, I woke up." Ruby finishes, sighing to herself.
"Sounds like a pretty extreme nightmare." Fenrir comments, it's not unlike his own dreams.
"Honestly...I'm scared." Ruby admits.
"Because of your dream?" Fenrir asks, arching an eyebrow curiously.
"What if it becomes a reality? How will I move on if I fail them? Weiss admitted I have what it takes...and they all have faith in me...but what if I screw up? What if my choices let them down? Let them all down because of one stupid mistake?"
"Hey, don't start thinking like that." Fenrir puts a hand on Ruby's shoulder, stopping her from admitting any more worries. "Yeah, it's your responsibility, but that doesn't mean everything happening is your fault. We're still people, even with our Semblances and skills, there's only so much we can do. We all have limits, but we can't let those limits stop us from being who we are."
"Is that what you think when you're leading?" Ruby asks.
"Not exactly, I don't feel worthy of being a leader either but...it's because of a different reason." Fenrir sighs, looking at the moon. "I'm more of a follower than a leader, I don't know why Ozpin appointed me as one, but I know he has his reasons...much like how he had reasons for inviting me to Beacon."
"I guess we both got in simply by luck." Ruby gently smiles.
"I've never believed in luck, only skill." Fenrir laughs. "I just know we both have a responsibility, to our teams, to the people of Remnant; that we can only do the best we can. It'll be hard, but I'm sure we'll be fine as long as we remember what's important."
Ruby was so invigorated by his words, the emotions he put in them, the amount of compassion and empathy he already adopted as a Huntsman. Ruby couldn't help but hug him, surprising Fenrir.
"Thanks, Fenrir...I really needed that talk." Ruby thanks, her arms tightening Fenrir's arm and chest.
"Heh, anytime." Fenrir rests his head on hers, staring at the moon. "Think it's time we head back, wouldn't want anyone to catch us past curfew."
"Mhm...Fenrir?"
"Yeah?"
"Could you...carry me to my dorm, please? I'm tired and...I don't wanna let go." Ruby mumbles, her eyelids getting heavy
"Sure thing, you get some rest, Rubes." Fenrir smiles
"Ok...goodnight."
As her words slow, Ruby closes her eyes, falling back to sleep. Hopefully, able to have good dreams now; Fenrir carefully picks her up, using his left arm to pick up her legs and carefully freeing his right to pick her up by the shoulders. To Fenrir, Ruby is very light compared to how she carried her scythe, thought she would be a bit heavier...regardless, Fenrir carries her back to the dorms, watching his step to make sure he doesn't trip on anything and wake her up.
*
Arriving at Team RWBY's dorm, Fenrir lightly kicks the door since his arms were occupied. The door opens up and he sees Yang, noticing Ruby being carried in Fenrir's arms
"Hey, anyone order a red rose?" Fenrir jokes, smirking
"Ruby!" Yang gasps, taking a closer look at her sister to see if she's been hurt.
Yang takes Ruby off Fenrir's arms and carries her to Weiss' bed with haste. The same white haired girl was awake and so was Blake as they both notice Ruby in Yang's arms
"Ruby? What happened?" Blake asks Yang, more curiously than worried.
Yang doesn't answer as she places Ruby down on Weiss' bed gently. Both Weiss and Blake look over Ruby to see if she's hurt. Noticing the dry tears on the young girl's face could show she was crying...and if Yang saw Fenrir carrying her here...just the thoughts alone was enough to anger her as the blonde's hair began to glow. But Yang knows Fenrir enough that he wouldn't hurt her, he tried to save Ruby from the Death Stalker after all. So, taking deep breaths, Yang clenches her fists and walks to Fenrir.
"Care to explain why she was crying?" Yang crosses her arms.
"I'm not in trouble, am I?" Fenrir asks, backing away.
"You might be, I'm giving you a chance to explain yourself and the reason better be good." Yang says, her hair glowing brighter. "It doesn't look good that you're carrying my sister, unconscious, and recently crying, so you start explaining yourself."
"Yang..." Weiss puts a hand on Yang's shoulder, to keep her from igniting the dorm on fire.
Yang looks at Weiss, who gives her a stern look. Yang exhales, her hair returning to normal; they both look at Fenrir, waiting for the explanation.
"She woke up after having a nightmare, Ruby went out for some air. She saw me, told me what happened; she started crying, I spoke to her, she calmed down...fell asleep and asked me to carry her to the dorm room."
"That's all?" Yang drops her arms, slightly surprised
"That's all. Yang, I'd never hurt Ruby; it wouldn't make sense." Fenrir shrugs.
"Yeah, sorry I doubted you." Yang sighs, shame written on her face. "It's just, whenever Ruby gets hurt, it makes me...I get so worried that..."
"Hey, no need to explain." Fenrir raises his hand to stop Yang. "I understand, she's family."
Yang smiles and nods at Fenrir, happy that he's understanding.
"What I don't get is why Ruby would go out in the middle of the night. What kind of nightmare did she have?" Weiss asks, hand on hip.
"That's not for me to tell, you'll have to ask her when she wakes." Fenrir shrugs.
"We will...thanks for bringing her here, Fenrir." Yang smiles.
"My pleasure." Fenrir waves goodbye with a smile and leaves to his dorm.
End of Chapter 6
