Melee on the Mountain
The next morning in Malie City at the Pokemon Center, Lincoln and his friends and family were just exiting it after having breakfast, and start heading for Mount Hokulani.
"How do we get to Lincoln's next Island Trial, Sophocles?" asked Shelby.
"Well, we just have to head west out of Malie City and head down Route 10, we should reach the base of Mount Hokulani very quickly." replied Sophocles.
"How high is the mountain?' asked Lynn.
"It's quite the climb to get to the top where Hokulani Observatory is." said Sophocles.
"Are there any new kinds of Pokemon along the way?" asked Lincoln.
"Lots of them." replied Sophocles.
"Well, let's get going!" said Shiloh.
The group leaves the city and start heading down the road towards their destination; as they walk by some tall patches of grass, something comes out of it.
"What's that?" asked Shane as he and everyone else spot a Pokemon that looked like a metallic bird; Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Skarmory, the Armor Bird Pokemon. The wing feathers it sheds can be processed and made into knives whose sharpness is recognized by the finest chefs." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Who wants to take on this Pokemon?" asked Lincoln.
"I got this." said Lynn. "It'll give me some training for when I do the Pokemon Battle Royale Tournament."
"The Rotom Phone says its part steel type." said Lincoln.
Lynn nods before she takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing her Talonflame.
"Okay, Talonflame; use Flame Charge!" said Lynn. Her Talonflame swoops at the Skarmory as his body becomes covered in fire; it slams into his opponent and does super effective damage. Skarmory reacts by striking Talonflame multiple times with its beak.
"That was Fury Attack!" said Sophocles. Suddenly, parts of Skarmory's body catch fire.
"Looks like Talonflame's Flame Body ability burned it." said Kiawe.
"Talonflame, use Ember!" said Lynn. Her Talonflame breathes bits of fire out from his beak and hit Skarmory, dealing super effective damage; Skarmory takes a bit more damage from its burn and falls to the ground.
"Looks like it's weak enough, Lynn." said Alola Lana. Lynn takes an empty pokeball from her pocket and throws it at the Skarmory, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yeah! I caught Skarmory!" said Lynn. As her new capture's teleported to storage, Lincoln looks it up on his Rotom Phone.
"Your new Skarmory is a girl, she knows Leer, Peck, Sand Attack, Metal Claw, Air Cutter, Fury Attack, Feint, and Swift; she has the Sturdy ability which makes it so she can't be taken out in one hit if she's at full stamina." said Lincoln.
"Nice." said Lynn.
The group takes the time to train up their Pokemon a bit before they continue on their way.
Lincoln's Incineroar got stronger, his Rufflet learned Air Slash, his Trevenant learned Destiny Bond, his Gyarados learned Crunch, his Lycanroc learned Scary Face, and his Lucario learned Quick Guard and Me First.
Lynn's Crabrawler learned Iron Defense. her Hawlucha learned Endeavor, her Machamp learned Bulk Up, her Talonflame learned Acrobatics, her Kabuto learned Mega Drain, and her Passimian learned Thrash and Bulk Up.
Shiloh's Lycanroc learned Stealth Rock and Rock Slide, his Snorlax learned Snore and Sleep Talk, his Leafeon learned Swords Dance and Synthesis, his Tirtouga learned Brine and Smack Down, his Larvitar learned Thrash, and his Wailmer learned Water Pulse, Mist, and Brine. During the training, Larvitar began to glow.
"Whoa; Larvitar's evolving!" said Shiloh. Larvitar began to change shape; when he stopped glowing, Larvitar was encased in a grayish-blue shell with two holes where eyes can be seen. "What's Larvitar now, Lincoln?" Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Shiloh's newly-evolved Larvitar.
"Pupitar, the Hard Shell Pokemon and the evolved form of Larvitar. This troublesome Pokémon can't wait to evolve, so it relieves its stress by wildly propelling itself around using compressed gas." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
Shelby's Persian learned Power Gem and Slash, her Sudowoodo learned Block and Rock Slide, her Smoochum learned Fake Tears, her Aurora Beam and Aqua Jet, her Espeon learned Future Sight and Psych Up, and Flaaffy learned Confuse Ray. Smoochum and Flaaffy both began to glow.
"Smoochum and Flaaffy are evolving!" said Shelby. Smoochum and Flaaffy began to grow and change shape. When they stopped glowing, Smoochum was bigger, had a purple head with long blonde hair, wearing a red gown with white arms and purple hands and Flaaffy was taller, her body was yellow and rubbery, conical yellow ears, a red orb on her forehead and another on the end of its long tail. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at Shelby's newly-evolved Smoochum.
"Jynx, the Human Shape Pokemon and the evolved form of Smoochum. It sways its hips to a rhythm all its own. The precise movements of Jynx living in Alola are truly wonderful." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"And what's Flaaffy now?" asked Shelby. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at Shelby's newly-evolved Flaaffy.
"Ampharos, the Light Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Mareep. Excess energy from Mega Evolution stimulates its genes, and the wool it had lost grows in again." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Mega Evolution; what's that?" asked Lynn.
"Don't know; but I do know Ampharos just learned Thunder Punch when she evolved." replied Lincoln.
Shane's Trumbeak learned Screech, his Mareanie learned Recover, his Wigglytuff got stronger, his Oranguru learned Instruct, and his Lileep learned Gastro Acid.
During Trumbeak's training, he suddenly froze up and started to glow.
"Hey! Trumbeak's evolving!" said Shane. Everyone watches as Trumbeak starts to change; when he was done, he resembled a toucan.
"What is he now?" asked Shiloh. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at Shane's newly evolved Trumbeak.
"Toucannon, the Cannon Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Pikipek. They smack beaks with others of their kind to communicate. The strength and number of hits tell each other how they feel." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"This says that your Toucannon learned a move called Beak Blast." said Lincoln.
"Sounds strong." said Lynn.
They continue on their way until they reach the bottom of a tall mountain.
"There it is; Mount Hokulani." said Sophocles; the rest of the group looks up and sees it was quite a way up to the top.
"Good thing I did that stamina training for that Pancake Race." said Lincoln.
"And Dad has me and my brothers do lots of cardio." said Shelby.
"This is nothing I can't handle." said Lynn.
"Are you all really gonna walk all the way up?" asked Lillie.
"I could use some more exercise." said Lynn.
"Let's get going." said Lincoln. "I want to try and get to the top before lunch."
"Yeah, can't pass a trial on an empty stomach." said Alola Lana.
"We'll just take the bus." said Kiawe.
"Bus?" Lincoln replied. Kiawe points at a white bus with a seafoam green roof, and the image of Exeggutor's heads above the windshield.
"We don't need no stinkin' bus!" said Lynn as she grabs Lincoln's wrist and starts pulling him up the mountain road with their cousins running after them.
"Suit yourselves." Kiawe says as he, Alola Lana, and Lillie, all get on the bus.
Five minutes up the mountain, the Louds stop for a quick breather.
"I'm gonna get a week's worth of cardio just by going up this mountain." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, it is high up." said Shiloh.
Some rustling from a nearby patch of grass gets their attention; soon, a humaonid, cyan Pokemon with an elongated head with black markings on it, along with a red, yellow, and green orb on each of its hands, comes floating out.
"Is that an alien?" asked Shelby.
"Let me see." said Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the being.
"Elgyem, the Cerebral Pokemon. It controls tremendous psychic power. Most reports of alien sightings are actually just people mistaking Elgyem for an alien." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Zach would like this Pokemon." said Lincoln. "I'll catch it for him." He takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing his Rufflet. "Rufflet, use Wing Attack!" His Rufflet flies at the Elgyem and strikes it with his wing; the Elgyem reacts by firing a beam of psychic energy from its hands, hitting Rufflet. "Rufflet, use Slash!" His Rufflet then flies at the Elygem and slashes it with his talons; Elygem responds by rocketing towards Rufflet and rams its head into his chest.
"That Pokemon is tough." said Lynn.
"We're not beaten by a long shot." said Lincoln. "Rufflet, use Aerial Ace!" His Rufflet does a loop before flying at Elygem as white streaks of energy surround his body and rams into its chest, knocking it to the ground. Lincoln quickly takes an empty pokeball out of his backpack and throws it at the Elygem; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, cuz!" said Shane. As Lincoln's new capture is teleported to storage, he looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"My new Elgyem is a boy, he knows Confusion, Growl, Heal Block, Miracle Eye, Psybeam, Headbutt, Hidden Power, and Imprison; he has the Telepathy ability which protects any Pokemon fighting side-by-side with him from inadvertenly hurting him." said Lincoln.
After Lincoln returns his Rufflet to his pokeball, they all continue up the mountain.
"We must be halfway up by now." said Lynn.
"Look who we have here!" a male voice says from ahead of them; the Louds look to see the green-haired Team Skull member, along with the female Team Skull member with reddish-brown hair, who were with Guzma two days ago, standing on the road in front of them.
"It's Team Skull!" said Shelby.
"We haven't introduced ourselves, have we?" asked the green-haired male Team Skull member.
"Not like we would've cared." said Lynn.
"Well, anyway, my name is Crook." said the green-haired Team Skull member now identified as Crook; he looks next to him and sees that the female Team Skull member was suddenly not there.
"CUTIE!" a female voice says from where the Louds were, making Crook look and sweatdrop to see the female Team Skull member hugging Lincoln while nuzzling his cheek, making him blush.
"Trix, would you get over here?!" Crook shouts to the female Team Skull member now identified as Trix. (a/n: The names for the other Team Skull members were based on a fanart on Deviantart done by florafion19)
Meanwhile, with Mallow in the Lush Jungle, watching Chandler grab a Big Root from a Sudowoodo.
"Just as good as any other one I guess." said Chandler. Mallow suddenly growls, startling the redhead.
'Why am I angry?!' Mallow asked herself.
At the same time in the mansion that Team Skull uses as their hideout, Rapp was choking Tupp.
"What's... wrong... with... you?" asked Tupp as he struggles to breathe.
"I'm suddenly in a bad mood right now!" said Rapp.
"It better not be about that Lincoln dweeb." said Zipp, resulting in Rapp kicking him in the gut, making him bend over in pain.
"Don't... insult... my... cutie!" said Rapp.
Back on Mount Hokulani, Trix finally lets go of Lincoln before heading back over to Crook, while giving the white-haired Loud a wink while swaying her hips.
"What are you all doing here?" asked Crook.
"My bro has an Island Trial to pass." said Lynn.
"Well, we're gonna have to stop you." said Crook.
"Like to see you try." said Lynn.
"You asked for it." said Crook. Lincoln pulls out a pokeball, but Shelby grabs his wrist.
"You should let your Pokemon save their strength for the Island Trial, Lincoln." said Shelby.
"Yeah, cuz; Shelby and I will take these punks on." said Shane.
"You sure?" asked Lincoln.
"Positive." said Shane. Lincoln nods in response.
Moments later, Shelby and Trix were standing several yards in front of each other.
"How many Pokemon you want to use, twerp?" asked Trix.
"One sounds good." replied Shelby. She and Trix each pull out a pokeball.
"Come out, Golbat!" shouts Trix, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Golbat.
"Let's go, Jynx!" said Shelby, throwing Jynx's pokeball and releasing her.
"Golbat, use Bite!" shouts Trix. Golbat flies at Jynx and bites her, dealing super effective damage.
"Jynx, use Confusion!" said Shelby. Jynx holds out her hands and they glow light blue; Golbat becomes surrounded by light blue energy and it gets slammed onto the ground, receiving super effective damage; it begins flying around, dizzily.
"Golbat's confused." said Lincoln.
"Golbat, use Air Cutter!" said Trix. Golbat fights through its confusion and flaps its wings, releasing a strong gust of wind with S-shaped energy blades in it and it hits Jynx, knocking her back.
"Jynx, use Powder Snow!" said Shelby. Jynx blows snow out of her mouth and it hits Golbat, dealing super effective damage, and encasing it in ice.
"Golbat, break out of that ice and use Poison Fang!" yells Trix. Unfortunately, Golbat remained frozen.
"Jynx, use Heart Stamp!" said Shelby. Jynx blows a kiss at Golbat, releasing a pink heart from her mouth and it hits Golbat, dealing super effective damage while shattering its ice prison, and knocking it out. "Yay, Jynx!" Trix growls before returning Golbat to its pokeball; she puts it away and walks to Shelby.
"Next time, you won't be so lucky." muttered Trix. She gives Shelby pokedollars; Shelby notices a piece of paper on top of the pokedollars.
"What's this?" asked Shelby, looking at the paper.
"My phone number; give it to that white-haired cutie." said Trix while pointing at Lincoln.
"Sure, okay." replied Shelby.
With Shane and Crook, they were staring each down while they each pull a pokeball off their waists; Shane throws his and releases his Toucannon while Crook throws his, releasing an Ariados.
"Toucannon, use Screech!" said Shane. His Toucannon lets out a loud shriek that makes Ariados cringe and lowers its defense points.
"Ariados, use Poison Sting!" said Crook. Ariados launches a barrage of poisonous needles from its mandibles that hit Toucannon, dealing damage.
"Toucannon, let's try out that Beak Blast move of yours!" said Shane. His Toucannon flies up into the sky and comes down at a fast speed; the velocity heats up Toucannon's beak as it slams onto Ariados, and thanks to its weakened defense, the attack was more than enough to knock it out.
"No way!" shouts Crook before he returns his Ariados to its pokeball.
"Looks like we win." said Shane. Crook sulks as he hands Shane some pokedollars.
"You're lucky we have better things to do than mess with a bunch of dweebs!" said Crook, making Trix smack him upside the head.
"Don't talk about my cutie like that!" said Trix.
"Whatever, let's get out of here!" said Crook.
"Wait a moment." said Trix before she runs over to Lincoln, grabs him in a hug, pulls her mask down, and kisses him on the cheek, making him blush; after that, she and Crook get on their motorcycles and ride off, with Trix giving Lincoln one more wink as they do.
"At least we can continue on to the top." said Lynn.
"Let's hurry." said Lincoln.
"Lincoln." said Shelby.
"What's up?" Lincoln replied.
"Trix told me to give you this." said Shelby as she hands Lincoln the slip of paper she got from Trix.
"What's this?" asked Lincoln.
"Her phone number." said Shelby. Lincoln blushes when he notices a kiss mark on the paper as well.
"Cuz is a babe magnet here." said Shane with a grin.
"More than Chandler will ever be." said Shelby. "Not that that's saying much."
"I'll say." said Lynn.
The Louds continue their way up Mount Hokulani to the observatory for Lincoln's next Island Trial. What awaits him and the others as their Alola adventure continues?
