Ula'ula Island Grand Trials (Part Two)
Moments later after returning from the Malie City Pokemon Center, Kahuna Nanu and Ed were facing each other on the pier.
"Are you ready, Ed?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"You bet your sweet bippy I am." replied Ed. An official step in between Ed and Kahuna Nanu.
"This Grand Trial is between Kahuna Nanu and the challenger, Ed." said the official. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner." The man walks off the pier while Ed and Kahuna Nanu each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Sableye!" said Kahuna Nanu, throwing Sableye's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Ampharos!" said Ed, throwing Ampharos' pokeball and releasing her.
"Sableye, Shadow Sneak!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye's shadow stretches out towards Ampharos; it comes out of the ground and strikes Ampharos, knocking her back. Sableye begins twitching and static surrounds its body.
"Ampharos' Static ability!" said Ed. "Okay, Ampharos, use Electro Ball!" Ampharos forms a ball of electricity between her arms, and she launches it at Sableye, hitting it, and damaging it.
"Sableye, use Shadow Ball!" said Kahuna Nanu. Unfortunately, paralysis gets the better of Sableye, stopping it from attacking.
"Discharge!" said Ed. Ampharos releases bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Sableye.
"Feint Attack!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye fights through its paralysis and jumps to the left and disappears; it reappeared near Ampharos and punches her across the face, damaging her.
"Thunder Punch!" said Ed. The end of Ampharos arm becomes covered in electricity; she punches Sableye with an uppercut and knocks it to the ground, unconscious.
"Sableye is unable to battle. Ampharos wins the match." said the official.
"Great job, Ampharos!" said Ed.
"Way to go, big brother." said Sarah.
"Keep it up, Ed." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returns Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did well, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Krokorok, go!" He throws Krokorok's pokeball and releases it.
"I hope Ampharos does okay; she's at a disadvantage against ground type Pokemon." said Edd.
"Ampharos, use Brick Break!" said Ed. Ampharos charges at Krokorok and karate chops it with her arm, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Krokorok, use Earthquake!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok jumps onto the ground, creating an earthquake that hits Ampahros, dealing super effective damage to her; she struggles to stay on her feet.
"Ampharos, Brick Break again!" said Ed. Ampharos karate chops Krokorok again, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Earthquake once more!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok jumps onto the ground, creating another earthquake that hits Ampharos, knocking her out.
"Ampharos is unable to battle. Krokorok wins the match." said the official.
"Well done, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Don't worry, Ed; you still have two Pokemon left." said Maxiley.
"You can do it, Ed." said Jimmy. Ed returns Ampharos to her pokeball.
"You were great out there, Ampharos." said Ed. He puts Ampharos' pokeball away and pulls out a Dive Ball. "Dewgong, go!" He throws Dewgong's Dive Ball and releases her. "Dewgong, Aqua Jet!" Dewgong becomes surrounded by water and she flies towards Krokorok; she rams into it, dealing super effective damage.
"Use Assurance!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok charges at Dewgong and rams her, knocking her back.
"Use Brine!" said Ed. Dewgong releases a powerful stream of water from her mouth, and it hits Krokorok, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Krokorok is unable to battle. Dewgong wins the match." said the official.
"You did it, Dewgong!" said Ed.
"You're doing great, Ed!" said Eddy.
"You can do it!" said Edd.
"We know you can!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns Krokorok to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Krokorok's pokeball away and looks at Ed. "You're doing quite well, Ed; but you still have one more Pokemon to beat in order to pass my trial." He pulls a pokeball out of his pocket. "Persian, go!" He throws Perisian's pokeball and releases it.
"Dewgong, Ice Shard!" said Ed. Dewgong launches shards of ice at Perisain, hitting it, and dealing damage. Kahuna Nanu holds up his arm, showing his Z-Ring which held a Darkinum Z crystal.
"I know what's Kahuna Nanu's up to." said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu does poses and channels energy onto Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Perisan, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persain lifts up its head and a sphere of red, black, and purple energy forms above its head; it throws the sphere at Dewgong where it expands into a black hole. Dewgong gets sucked into the hole and it shrinks; it then explodes, dealing damage to Dewgong, knocking her to the ground; she struggles to get up.
"Aurora Beam!" said Ed. Dewgong fires a rainbow-colored beam from her horn, and it hits Persian, damaging it, and weakening her attack strength.
"Dark Pulse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Perisan fires rings of black and purple energy out of the gem on its forehead and they hit Dewgong, knocking her out.
"Dewgong is unable to battle. Persian wins the match." said the official.
"Excellent work, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. Ed returns Dewgong to her Dive Ball.
"You rest, Dewgong." said Ed. He puts Dewgong's Dive Ball away and pulls out a pokeball. "Go, Muk!" He throws Muk's pokeball and releases him.
"Persian, use Slash!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian leaps at Muk with a paw raised with her claws glowing white.
"Muk, use Harden!" said Ed. Muk glows white and his body shines before Persian slashes him with its claws, but not doing much damage due to Muk's increases defense and Persian's weakened attack from Dewgong's Aurora Beam. "Now use Poison Fang!" Muk's mouth glows purple and he bites onto Persian's back, dealing damage to her; it turned dark purple under Persian's eyes.
"Persian's poisoned." said Edd. Perisan coughs and loses stamina from her poisoning.
"Persian, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian fires a red beam from its forehead gem and it hits Muk, damaging him.
"Muk, Gunk Shot!" said Ed. Muk fires multiple globs of sludge from his mouth, and they hit Perisan. It coughs from its poisoning, and it collapses.
"Perisan is unable to battle. Muk wins the match. The winner of the Grand Trial is the challenger, Ed." said the official.
"You did it, Muk!" cheered Ed, running to Muk and hugging him who hugs him in return.
"Way to go, Ed!" cheered Eddy.
"Well done, Ed!" said Edd.
"That's my big brother!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns Persian to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Perisian's pokeball away and walks over to Ed. "Your Pokemon are well trained, Ed."
"Thanks." said Ed. Kahuna Nanu pulls a Darkinium-Z Crystal out of his pocket.
"For passing the Grand Trial, I reward you with the Darkinium-Z Crystal; I'm sure your Muk will make great use of it." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Thanks." said Ed, taking the Darkinium-Z, along with pokedollars; Kahuna Nanu puts a stamp in Ed's Trainer's Passport as proof of him passing the Grand Trial. Kahuna Nanu walks to the rest of the group.
"Which of you will I be facing next?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"I believe I shall battle you next, sir." said Edd as he steps forward.
"Very well." said Kahuna Nanu. "I shall return after I get my Pokemon treated."
"I shall be waiting." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu and Ed all head to the Pokemon Center while Edd starts planning his strategies.
Twenty minutes later, Kahuna Nanu and Ed returned. Kahuna Nanu went to the spot where he battled his last opponents, while Ed goes over to his friends and Sarah.
"Are you ready for your battle, young man?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"I do believe I am." said Edd.
"Then let us begin." said Kahuna Nanu. The official steps in between them.
"This Grand Trial is between Kahuna Nanu and the challenger, Edd." said the official. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner." The man walks off the pier while Edd and Kahuna Nanu each pull out a pokeball.
"Sableye, let's go!" said Kahuna Nanu as he releases his Sableye.
"Ariados, please assist!" said Edd as he lets out Ariados.
"Sableye, use Fake Out!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye quickly moves at Ariados and claps its hands in front of its face, startling her, and making her fall over, hurting herself, along with making her flinch. "Now use Shadow Sneak!" Sableye's shadow extends behind Ariados, then rises up and hits her.
"Ariados, please use Sucker Punch!" said Edd. Ariados moves at Sableye and jabs one of her legs into its gut.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye creates crystals that fire off beams of energy that hit Ariados, doing super effective damage.
"Ariados, use Night Shade!" said Edd. Ariados fires off black beams of energy from her horn that hit Sableye.
"Sableye, use Zen Headbutt!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye charges at Ariados as its body was covered in a blue aura and rams into Ariados, doing super effective damage, and knocks her out.
"Ariados is unable to battle. Sableye is the winner." said the official.
"Excellent job, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu, making Sableye snicker.
"Poor Ariados." said Sarah.
"Double-D can still win this!" said Eddy. Edd returns Ariados to her pokeball.
"You did your best, Ariados." said Edd. He puts Ariados' pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Toucannon. "Toucannon, please use Drill Peck!" Toucannon spirals towards Sableye and rams his beak into it.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye makes more shining rocks and fires energy beams from them, hitting Toucannon, and doing super effective damage.
"Toucannon, use Beak Blast!" said Edd. Toucannon flies into the sky and comes plummeting down as his beak heats up; he slams onto Sableye, driving it into the ground, and knocks it out.
"Sableye is unable to battle. Toucannon is the winner." said the official.
"Excellent work, Toucannon." said Edd, making Toucannon squawk loudly in triumph.
"Way to go, sockhead!" said Eddy.
"Keep it up, Double-D!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did well, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Krokorok.
"Toucannon, please use Bullet Seed!" said Edd. Toucannon shoots a barrage of seeds out of his beak, hitting Krokorok repeatedly, doing super effective damage.
"Krokorok, use Stone Edge!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok stomps on the ground, making a trail of rock spires shoot out towards Toucannon that soon hits him, doing super effective damage.
"Toucannon, please use Rock Smash!" said Edd. Toucannon slams his beak onto the Krokorok, doing super effective damage; Krokorok starts to droop a little.
"Rock Smash weakened Krokorok's defense!" said Maxiley.
"Krokorok, use one more Stone Edge!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok releases another trail of rock spires that hits Toucannon, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Toucannon is unable to battle. Krokokok is the winner." said the official.
"Good job, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu, making Krokorok grin.
"Now Double-D has only one Pokemon left!" said Ed.
"One's all he'll need!" said Sarah. Edd returns his Toucannon to his pokeball.
"You did well, my friend." said Edd. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he tosses it, releasing his Primarina. "Primarina, please use Aqua Jet!" Primarina propels herself at Krokorok while her body coats itself in water and slams into it, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Krokorok is unable to battle. Primarina is the winner." said the official.
"Fine work, Primarina." said Edd.
"She did it!" said Sarah.
"Now all Double-D has to do is beat Nanu's Persian and he'll win." said Jimmy. Kahuna Nanu returns his Krokorok to its pokeball.
"You did well, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Krokorok's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Persian.
"Primarina, please use Moonblast!" said Edd. Primarina draws in energy and forms it into a pink ball; she then throws it at the Persian, hitting it, and does super effective damage.
"Persian, use Thunder!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian releases a large blast of electricity from its head jewel that hits Primarina, doing super effective damage.
"Primarina, please use Bubble Beam!" said Edd. Primarina releases a stream of bubbles from her mouth that hits the Persian.
"Persian, hit it with another Thunder attack!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian hits Primarina with another blast of electricity, doing more super effective damage. Primarina starts to twitch a bit.
"Primarina's paralyzed!" said Sarah.
"That won't stop sockhead!" said Eddy. Primarina suddenly breaks out of the paralysis, surprising Kahuna Nanu.
"That can't be!" said Kahuna Nanu. Primarina's body flares with a blue aura.
"That's Primarina's Torrent ability!" said Jimmy. Edd takes out his Primarium-Z Crystal and puts it in his Z-Ring; he then does the poses required to activate it, making Z-Energy flow from him and into Primarina, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of her.
"Primarina, please use Oceanic Operetta!" said Edd. Primarina sings a beautiful melody that makes Sarah and Jimmy look in awe at her; as Primarina sings, she makes a massive ball of water above her; she then gently directs it over to the Persian who could only gawk at its size as it consumes its body. Primarina sings another melody that makes the ball of water explode and make multiple sound blasts that do more than enough damage to knock it out; Primarina takes a bow after that happens.
"Persian is unable to battle. Primarina is the winner. The winner of the Grand Trial is the challenger, Edd." said the official.
"Fine work, Primarina!" said Edd. Primarina takes another bow.
"Double-D won!" said Ed.
"Was there ever any doubt?" asked Eddy.
"Primarina's so beautiful." said Sarah with awe in her voice. Jimmy could only nod in response. Kahuna Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and walks over to Edd. "Congratulations on passing your Grand Trial."
"Thank you very much, sir." said Edd. He hands his Trainer Passport to Kahuna Nanu who puts a Ula'ula stamp on it. He then pulls out a Darkinium-Z Crystal from his pocket.
"In recognition of your skill, I present you with the Darkinium-Z Crystal." said Kahuna Nanu as he hands the Z-Crystal, along with some pokedollars, to Edd.
"Splendid." said Edd. He then walks back over to his friends.
"Way to go, Double-D!" said Eddy.
"You were great!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu looks over at Eddy.
"I suppose you're next." said Kahuna Nanu.
"You know it!" said Eddy.
"Once I get my Pokemon healed, I will return for our Grand Trial." said Kahuna Nanu.
"I'll be waiting." said Eddy. After Edd and Kahuna Nanu went off to the Pokemon Center, Eddy stood on the spot the others did during their Grand Trials and went over what strategies he would use in his.
Twenty minutes later, Edd and Kahuna Nanu returned; Kahuna Nanu went to the spot he stood during the last Grand Trials, while Edd went back to his friends.

"Sableye, let's go!" said Kahuna Nanu as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Sableye.
"Vikavolt, let's go, pal!" said Eddy as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Vikavolt.
"Sableye, use Fake Out!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye quickly moves over to Vikavolt and claps his hands in his face, startling him, and making him fall to the ground and flinch. "Now use Power Gem!" Sableye creates shining rocks from thin air and fires energy beams out of them that hit Vikavolt, doing super effective damage.
"Vikavolt, use Thunderbolt!" said Eddy. Vikavolt releases a strong jolt of electricity from his mandibles that hit Sableye, damaging it; it suddenly starts to twitch uncontrollably.
"It's paralyzed, Eddy!" said Edd.
"Vikavolt, use Air Slash!" said Eddy. Vikavolt flaps his wings, releasing a large blade of wind that hits Sableye and knocks it out.
"Sableye is unable to battle. Vikavolt is the winner." said the official.
"Way to go, pal!" said Eddy, making Vikavolt do a loop out of joy.
"Good work, Eddy!" said Ed.
"Way to go, man!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out another one and throws it, releasing his Krokorok.
"Vikavolt, use X-Scissor!" said Eddy. Vikavolt flies at the Krokorok and does a double slash on it, doing super effective damage.
"Krokorok, use Stone Edge!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok stomps on the ground, releasing a trail of spiky rocks that reaches Vikavolt and hits him, doing super effective damage.
"Vikavolt, use another X-Scissor!" said Eddy. Vikavolt flies at Krokorok and does another double slash with his mandibles, doing super effective damage.
"Krokorok, use Crunch!" said Krokorok. Krokorok leaps at Vikavolt and bites down on him hard, doing enough damage to knock him out.
"Vikavolt is unable to battle. Krokorok is the winner." said the official.
"Great job, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Don't worry, Eddy." said Edd. "You still got two more Pokemon you can use." Eddy returns his Vikavolt to his pokeball.
"Rest up, pal." said Eddy. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Poliwrath. "Poliwrath, use Bubblebeam!" Poliwrath releases a barrage of bubbles from his body that hits Krokorok, doing super effective damage, and knocks it out.
"Krokorok is unable to battle. Poliwrath is the winner." said the official.
"Great job, pal!" said Eddy. Poliwrath flexes his arms in response.
"Just one more to go, Eddy!" said Jimmy.
"You can do it, Poliwrath!" shouts Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns his Krokorok to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Persian.
"Poliwrath, use Mind Reader!" said Eddy. Poliwrath closes his eyes and focuses his energy into his brain.
"Persian, use Thunder!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian releases a blast of electricity from its head gem that hits Poliwrath, doing super effective damage; Poliwrath starts to twitch.
"Poliwrath's paralyzed!" said Edd.
"Not for long." said Eddy. Poliwrath uses his willpower to break the paralysis. "Now use Dynamic Punch!" Poliwrath throws a devestating punch at Persian, hitting it, and doing super effective; it then starts to stumble around.
"What's wrong with Persian?" asked Jimmy.
"Dynamic Punch can make the Pokemon it hits confused." said Edd.
"Persian, try another Thunder!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian tries to gather electricity into his jewel, but in its confused state, he loses control of it and damages itself enough to knock itself out.
"Persian is unable to battle. Poliwrath is the winner. The winner of the Grand Trial is the challenger, Eddy." said the official.
"We won!" said Eddy.
"Way to go, Eddy!" said Ed.
"Splendid job." said Edd.
"That was awesome!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"Rest up, my friend." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and walks over to Eddy. "You really earned your Lily of the Valley Conference championship, young man."
"You know it!" said Eddy. He hands his Trainer Passport to Kahuna Nanu who puts a Ula'ula stamp on it. He then pulls out a Darkinium-Z Crystal from his pocket.
"In recognition of your skill, I present you with the Darkinium-Z Crystal." said Kahuna Nanu as he hands the Z-Crystal, along with some pokedollars, to Eddy.
"Sweet!" said Eddy as he accepts the items, then rejoins his friends.
"Congratulations, Eddy." said Jimmy.
"We all passed our Ula'ula Grand Trials!" said Sarah.
"Just one more to go and we can enter the Alola League!" said Eddy.
The group have passed their Ula'ula Grand Trials. What adventures await them on the final island as their Alola adventure continues
