Chandler vs Kahuna Hala
The next day, after classes were done at the Pokemon School, the Louds and their Alola friends, along with Chandler, were walking out the front gate and heading towards Iki Town for Chandler's Grand Trial.
"Can't wait to dominate that old guy and get my Z-Ring." said Chandler.
"Don't underestimate him." said Lincoln.
"Hey, Larry; if you and your sister can beat him, then obviously I can." said Chandler, making Lynn smack him upside the head.
"Kahuna Hala is tough." said Lynn. "And he probably got stronger after my battle with him."
"Whatever." said Chandler. "Let's just get to that village so I can pass my Grand Trial thing." said Chandler.
"Chandler should be in court on trial." said Shane.
"Yeah, but unfortunately, being an obnoxious, stuck up, pain-in-the-butt, isn't a crime." said Lincoln. (a/n: Yeah, too bad.)
"Hey, Loud; I caught a Pokemon yesterday, but I don't know what it is since I didn't have a Rotom Phone like you." said Chandler. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and goes through it while Chandler is looking over his shoulder until the image of the Pokemon comes up. "That's the one."
"Dunsparce, the Land Snake Pokemon. It travels by digging through the ground. Diglett and Dunsparce share one another's tunnels happily." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"This says your Dunsparce is a girl, she knows Rage, Defense Curl, Rollout, Spite, Pursuit, and Screech; she has the Run Away ability which has her retreat from battle with wild Pokemon when they hit her." said Lincoln.
"With an ability like that, she's useless in battle; I'll have her dig up stuff for me at the Poke Pelago." said Chandler. Everyone frowns in response.
"What are you going to do after the trial, cuzes?" Shane asked Lincoln and Lynn.
"I'm going to head back to the Poke Pelago and see if the Pokemon at the Isle Aphun found anything cool." said Lincoln.
"Maybe they'll find something super valuable you can rub in Chandler's smug face." said Mallow.
"Nah; I don't want to stoop to Chandler's level." replied Lincoln.
"Good point." said Mallow.
"I'll go there also to check on the Eevee I left in Isle Eveup." said Lynn. "Maybe I can find a way to evolve her into a Pokemon that's a type I don't have yet."
"Good to have a large variety of types on your team." said Lillie, who was carrying a duffel bag with her Pokemon Egg in it, before Chandler grabs her hand and starts pulling her along, much to her annoyance.
"Come on, babe." said Chandler. "You got a trial to watch me win."
"I'll bet Lillie's going to disinfect that hand tonight." said Shelby.
"For about an hour." said Shiloh.
"Wouldn't blame her if she did." said Mallow.
"Let's just watch Chandler's trial and get it over with." said Lincoln.
"But don't worry, maybe he'll lose." said Shane.
"Here's hoping." said Lynn as she crosses the fingers on both of her hands as she, Lincoln, her cousins, and her Alola friends follow after Chandler while dragging their feet.
Later, in Iki Town, everyone there, along with Lincoln's group, were watching as Chandler was standing on the battle platform with Kahuna Hala.
"I heard you passed the Verdant Cavern trial yesterday, young man." said Kahuna Hala.
"Was there ever any doubt?" asked Chandler with a smug grin.
'Yeah!' everyone in Lincoln's group thought to themselves in unison.
"And also, I found this while doing it." said Chandler as he pulls the Sparkling Stone out of his pocket.
"You found a Sparking Stone?" asked Kahuna Hala with disbelief.
"What can I say?" asked Chandler. "I'm just that good."
"Well, you better hope you're good enough to defeat me." said Kahuna Hala as he does a sumo stomp on the platform, shaking it, and making Chandler fall onto his pimply little butt, surprising him. A woman, wearing a blue dress with floral designs, along with a garland made of flowers on her head, steps up onto the platform and in between the two trainers.
"This Grand Trial will be between the Island Challenger, Chandler McCann; and Kahuna Hala. Both trainers will use three Pokemon. Whichever trainer defeats all of their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the Grand Trial begin." said the woman who then steps off to the side while Kahuna Hala and Chandler each pull a pokeball off their waists.
"Come out, Tentacool!" said Chandler, throwing Tentacool's pokeball and releasing him.
"Go, Machop!" said Kahuna Hala, throwing Machop's pokeball and releasing it.
"Tentacool, Toxic Spikes!" said Chandler. Tentacool forms an orb of dark purple energy between his tentacles; he launches it up into the air where it explodes. Several smaller, dark purple energy orbs fall onto the entire battle arena. "What do you think, old man? Now every time you bring out a Pokemon, it'll get poisoned."
"I must admit, it's a good strategy; but I won't let that stop me." replied Kahuna Hala. "Machop, Focus Energy!" Machop flexes its arms and its muscles grow.
"Tentacool, Acid Spray!" said Chandler. Tentacool fires a stream of purple liquid at Machop, hitting it, dealing damage to it, and weakening its special defense.
"Machop, Revenge!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop becomes surrounded by an orange aura; a wave of it comes out of it at Tentacool, hitting it, and landing a critical hit.
"Tentacool, Water Pulse!" said Chandler. Tentacool forms a blue ball of water between his tentacles, and he launches it at Machop, hitting it, and dealing more damage than it normally would due to Machop's special defense being weakened by Tentacool's Acid Spray.
"Machop, Seismic Toss!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop runs at Tentacool and grabs him; Machop jumps up and throws Tentacool onto the ground, dealing damage to him. Tentacool struggles to get up.
"Tentacool, use Wrap!" said Chandler. Tentacool reaches his tentacles towards Machop and begins squeezing it; Machop soon passes out.
"Machop is unable to battle; Tentacool wins." said the woman.
"How'd you like that, Louds?!" Chandler asked Lincoln, Lynn, and their cousins.
"We don't!" replied Lynn. Kahuna Hala returns Machop to its pokeball.
"You did well, Machop." said Kahuna Hala.
"Doing well for losing?" asked Chandler. Kahuna Hala frowns and puts Machop's pokeball away, then pulls out another one.
"Makuhita, go!" said Kahuna Hala, throwing Makuhita's pokeball and releasing it. Makuhita becomes surrounded by a purple aura and it turned purple under its eyes.
"Makuhita's poisoned." said Kiawe.
"That Toxic Spikes won't make creaming Chandler easy." said Lynn.
"Makuhita, Fake Out!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita jumps in front of Tentacool and claps its hands together, releasing a shockwave that hits Tentacool, damaging him, and making him flinch. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses some stamina. "Now use Arm Thrust!" Makuhita runs at Tentacool and thrusts its palms into it; despite fighting type moves not being very effective against poison type Pokemon, Arm Thrust was able to do enough damage to knock Tentacool out.
"Tentacool is unable to battle. Makuhita wins." said the woman.
"Way to go, Kahuna Hala!" said Mallow.
"I liked that, Chandler!" said Lynn. Chandler frowns before returning Tentacool to his pokeball; he puts it away and pulls out another pokeball.
"Vullaby, come out!" said Chandler, throwing Vullaby's pokeball and releasing her. "Vullaby, use Leer!" Vullaby glares at Makuhita and her eyes glowed red, weakening Makuhita's defense.
"Makuhita, Force Palm!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita runs at Vullaby while an energy orb forms in front of one of its palms and thrusts it into Vullaby, damaging her. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning.
"Vullaby, Pluck!" said Chandler. Vullaby flies at Makuhita while her beak glows white and she jabs Makuhita with it, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to its defense being weakened.
"Makuhita, Arm Thrust!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita runs at Vullaby and thrusts its palms repeatedly into Vullaby, dealing damage to her. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Fury Attack, Vullaby!" said Chandler. Vullaby flies at Makuhita and pecks it repeatedly, dealing damage to it.
"Makuhita, Force Palm!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita runs at Vullaby and thrusts an orb of light into her with her palm, dealing damage; Vullaby begins twitching.
"Vullaby's paralyzed." said Lincoln. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses more stamina.
"Vullaby, Gust!" said Chandler. Vullaby was able to get through her paralysis and flaps her wings, releasing a gust of wind that hits Makuhita, knocking it out.
"Makuhita is unable to battle; Vullaby wins." said the woman.
"Aw, man." said Shiloh.
"Don't worry, Shiloh; Kahuna Hala can still turn this around." said Shelby. Kahuna Hala returns Makuhita to its pokeball.
"You fought hard, Makuhita; you have nothing to be ashamed of." said Kahuna Hala.
"Want to give up now, old man?" asked Chandler.
"It's not over until it's over." replied Kahuna Hala as he pulls out a pokeball. "Go, Crabrawler." He throws Crabrawler's pokeball and releases it; Crabrawler becomes surrounded by a purple aura and it turned dark purple under its eyes.
"Gotta love those Toxic Spikes." said Chandler.
"No thank you." said Lincoln.
"Vullaby, Pluck!" said Chandler. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Vullaby from attacking.
"Crabrawler, Power-Up Punch!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler's pincer becomes surrounded by an orange aura; it charges at Vullaby and punches her, dealing damage. Crabrawler begins surging with energy and its attack strength increases.
"Now Power-Up Punch, I do love." said Lynn.
"Yeah; powers up the attack strength of the Pokemon that uses it." said Lincoln. Crabrawler coughs from its poisoning.
"Vullaby, Gust!" said Chandler. Vullaby was able to get through paralysis and flaps her wings, releasing a gust of wind that hits Crabrawler, dealing super effective damage.
"Crabrawler, Rock Smash!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler runs at Vullaby and smashes its pincer onto her, knocking her out.
"Vullaby is unable to battle. Crabrawler wins." said the woman.
"All right, Kahuna Hala!" cheered Shane.
"He's doing well." said Sophocles. Chandler returns Vullaby to her pokeball; he puts it away and pulls out another one.
"I'll admit, you're doing okay for an old timer; but you still have one Pokemon left to beat, if you can." said Chandler. "Arbok, come out!" He throws Arbok's pokeball and releases her. "Arbok, Fire Fang!" Arbok lunges at Crabrawler while flames covered her fangs and she bites Crabrawler, damaging it.
"Crabrawler, use Pursuit!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler runs at Arbok and hits her with its pincer, damaging her; Crabrawler coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Arbok, Thunder Fang!" said Chandler. Arbok lunges at Crabrawler while electricity covered her fangs and she bites Crabrawler, dealing damage. Kahuna Hala holds up his Z-Ring that had a Fightinium-Z on it.
"Yeah, I know where this is going!" said Lynn. Kahuna Hala becomes coated in Z-Energy; he does multiple hand thrusts, sending Z-Energy into Crabrawler, making the Z-Power symbol appear on it.
"Crabrawler, All-Out Pummeling!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler does air punches, releasing open palm-shaped energy blasts at Arbok, but not doing enough damage to knock her out. Crabrawler coughs from its poisoning and loses more stamina.
"Arbok, Ice Fang!" said Chandler. Arbok lunges at Crabrawler with ice covered fangs and bites onto Crabrawler, dealing damage.
"Crabrawler, Rock Smash!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler smashes its pincer onto Arbok, not dealing much damage, but weakening Arbok's defense. Crabrawler coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Arbok, use Bite!" said Chandler. Arbok bites Crabrawler, not dealing much damage, but makes Crabrawler flinch. Crabrawler loses more stamina from its poisoning. "Now use Acid!" Arbok sprays a black liquid from its mouth, and it hits Crabrawler, knocking it out.
"Crabrawler is unable to battle. Arbok wins. The winner of the Grand Trial is the Island Challenger, Chandler McCann." said the woman.
"Yeah!" cheered Chandler.
"BOOOOO!" shouts Lynn, making Chandler scowl at her. Kahuna Hala returns his Crabrawler to its pokeball.
"You did well, Crabrawler." said Kahuna Hala.
"Not well enough." said Chandler as he returns Arbok to her pokeball. Kahuna Hala frowns before walking over to the smug boy.
"Well, since you won, I have to give you the Fightium-Z Crystal." said Kahuna Hala as he pulls a Fightium-Z Crystal out of his pocket and hands it to Chandler, along with some pokedollars.
"I deserve this." said Chandler as he holds his prize up.
"He deserves a punch in the face." said Lynn.
"What's stopping you?" asked Shane.
"Too many witnesses." said Lincoln.
"I won't say anything." said Shelby.
"Now where's your Trainer's Passport?" asked Kahuna Hala, confusing Chandler.
"What?" Chandler replied.
"Oh yeah." said Lincoln. "You need one for kahunas to put a stamp on to prove you've beaten them."
"You didn't mention that." said Chandler.
"Just go get one from Professor Kukui and I'll put a stamp on it." said Kahuna Hala with exasperation.
"Fine." said Chandler as he pulls his Sparkling Stone. "But in the meantime, turn this into a Z-Ring."
"I'm sure he's gonna keep bugging you until you do, sir." said Lincoln, making Kahuna Hala groan before taking the Sparkling Stone from Chandler.
"It'll be ready by tomorrow." said Kahuna Hala.
"Sweet." said Chandler. "I'll stop by after school tomorrow."
"I'm off to the Poke Pelago." said Lincoln as he takes out his Ride Pager and summons a few Charizards for him, and his family and friends.
"Thanks, bro." said Lynn.
"Yeah, we want to get away from Chandler for a bit." said Kiawe as he and the others, except Chandler, climb onto the Charizards.
As they fly away, Chandler watches them with a smirk on his face.
"You Louds are going down. I'll be the strongest trainer in Alola, and Lillie will be my girlfriend." said Chandler. (a/n: Yeah, right!)
Unfortunately, Chandler defeats Kahuna Hala, and is going to get a Z-Ring. What other surprises, good and bad, await the Louds as their Alola adventure continues?
