Team Skull Encounter
The group makes their way back to Seafolk Village with help from the chief.
"Look at you, trial-goers!" said the chief after they all arrive. "You going to the altars to play the flutes?"
"You bet we are!" said Sarah.
"The altar lies past the Vast Poni Canyon. It's a long road there. That path is like nature's own trial!" said the chief.
"We can handle it!" said Maxiley.
"Yeah!" said Ed.
"Good luck to all of you, kids." said the chief. "And why don't you stop by and tell Hapu that you're off before you go!"
"A splendid idea." said Edd.
"Let's get going!" said Eddy.
The group then leaves Seafolk Village and make their way to the Ruins of Hope to see Hapu before continuing on towards Poni Canyon.
They all train their Pokemon along the way as well to get them ready for the Alola League as well.
Ed's Decidueye, Muk, Gigalith, Flareon, and Dewgong all got stronger, and his Ampharos learned Signal Beam
Edd's Primarina learned Captivate, his Toucannon learned Hyper Voice, his Magnezone got stronger, his Ariados learned Psychic and Poison Jab, his Espeon learned Power Swap, and his Stoutland learned Last Resort.
Eddy's Incineroar learned Flare Blitz, his Vikavolt and Noivern got stronger, his Poliwrath learned Circle Throw, and not only did his Meowth learned Night Slash, she evolved into a Persian.
Sarah's Pokemon got stronger, Mrs. Mime learned Safeguard, and her Alomomola learned Whirlpool.
Jimmy's Lucario learned Calm Mind and Heal Pulse, his Butterfree. Raichu, Lycanroc, and Umbreon all got stronger, and his Wishiwashi learned Hydro Pump.
Maxiley trained his Pokemon for Mask Royal's tournament; his Pupitar got stronger, his Crabrawler learned Close Combat, his Vaporeon got stronger, his Trevenant learned Wood Hammer, his Xatu learned Future Sight, and his Turtonator learned Overheat.
They soon reach the Ancient Poni Path and head through the ruins inside. As they turn towards the path leading towards the Vast Poni Canyon, they were surprised to see a lot of Team Skull members lined up across it, blocking their way.
"Not these guys again!" said Eddy.
"What do you scoundrels want this time?" asked Edd. One of the Team Skull members stands up.
"I heard about you numskulls at Aether." the Team Skull member says. "Do you really know a way to save our boy Guzma?!"
"We can make you talk, even if we have to cut you to the bone!" said a female Team Skull member.
"So you wanna battle?" asked Eddy.
"Anything to make you chumps talk!" said the female Team Skull member.
"I got this." said Eddy. The female Team Skull member takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing an Ekans; while Eddy takes out his Noivern's pokeball and lets her out of it.
"Ekans, use Acid Spray!" shouts the Team Skull member, making her Ekans release a spray of acid from its mouth.
"Noivern, dodge and use Air Slash!" said Eddy. Noiver flies up to dodge Ekans' attack and flaps her wings, releasing a large blade made of air from them that hits her opponent, knocking it out.
"No way!" shouts the Team Skull member as she drops to her knees.
"Too easy." said Eddy. The Team Skull member sulks as she gives Eddy pokedollars and returns to her associates.
"That does it; I'm up!" said another Team Skull member.
"Can I take this one on?" asked Maxiley. "I could use a practice battle for when I take on the Masked Royal's tournament."
"Go for it." said Eddy.
"You can do it!" said Sarah.
"Bring it on!" said the Team Skull member as he and Maxiley step forward while everyone else steps away to give them space. Maxiley and the Team Skull member each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Fomantis!" said the Team Skull member, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Fomantis.
"Turtonator, go!" said Maxiley, throwing Turtonator's pokeball, and releasing him.
"Fomantis, use Slash!" said the Team Skull member. Fomantis leaps at Turtonator.
"Turtonator, Flamethrower!" said Maxiley. Turtonator releases a stream of fire from his snout and it hits Fomantis before it can reach him, dealing super effective damage to it, and knocking it out.
"No way!" exclaimed the Team Skull member.
"Yes way!" replied Eddy. The Team Skull member growls and returns Fomantis to its pokeball; he puts the pokeball away and pulls out another. "Go, Mareanie!" He throws the pokeball and releases a Mareanie. "Use Poison Jab!" Mareanie leaps at Turtonator while one of its tentacles glowed purple.
"Turtonator, Iron Defense!" said Maxiley. Turtonator glows white and his body shines, increasing his defense before Mareanie hits Turtonator with its tentacle, but not dealing much damage to it. "Now use Dragon Pulse!" Turtonator opens his mouth and forms a turquoise ball of energy in front of it; he launches it at Mareanie and hits it, knocking it out.
"Go, Maxiley!" cheered Ed. The Team Skull returns Mareanie to its pokeball, then pulls out another one.
"Go, Houndour!" shouts the Team Skull member, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Houndour. "Use Feint Attack!" Houndour jumps to the side and disappears; it reappears in front of Turtonator and rams him, but not dealing much damage due to his increased defense.
"Body Slam!" said Maxiley. Turtonator jumps up and lands down on Houndour, damaging it. As it get up, static surrounds its body.
"I believe Houndour is paralyzed." said Edd.
"Houndour, Foul Play!" said the Team Skull member. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Houndour from attacking.
"Tackle!" said Maxiley. Turtonator charges at Houndour and rams it, knocking it out.
"You go, Maxiley!" said Jimmy. The Team Skull member growled while returning Houndour to its pokeball. He puts it away and pulls out another one.
"Go, Golbat!" said the Team Skull member as he throws a pokeball and releases a Golbat. "Use Venoshock!" Golbat fires multiple globs of purple liquid from its mouth and they hit Turtonator.
"Turtonator, Incinerate!" said Maxiley. Turtonator launches a fireball out of its snout and it hits Golbat, damaging it.
"Wing Attack!" shouts the Team Skull member. Golbat flies towards Turtonator with its wing raised.
"Shell Trap!" said Maxiley. Turtonator turns around; Golbat hits Turtonator shell with its wing; the spikes on Turtonator's shell explodes, sending Golbat flying to the ground, unconscious.
"Brilliant, Maxiley." said Edd. The Team Skull member's eye twitches and a vein forms on his forehead; he returns Golbat to its pokeball, then pulls out another one.
"Go, Raticate!" shouts the Team Skull member, throwing a pokeball and releases a Raticate. "Raticate, Super Fang!" Raticate charges at Turtonator and bites his arm, but not dealing much damage due to Turtonator's increased defense.
"Shell Smash!" said Maxiley. Turtonator becomes surrounded by white energy; the energy shatters and Turtonator's defense and special defense weakens, but his attack, special attack, and speed increases.
"Double Edge!" shouts the Team Skull member. Raticate charges at Turtonator and rams him, knocking him back; Raticate flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Double Edge.
"Turtonator, use Overheat!" said Maxiley. Turtonator releases a large, swirling stream of fire from his mouth and it hits Raticate, dealing damage to it, and knocking it out.
"No! That was my last Pokemon!" shouts the Team Skull member.
"Oh, that's too bad." said Sarah, mockingly. The Team Skull member returns Raticate to its pokeball, then tosses pokedollars to Maxiley, and storms off.
"We may have lost, but listen up, yo!" said another Team Skull member. "Please save Guzma for us!"
"You dummies!" a female voice calls out. "They're trying to save the boss, so what do you want to get in their way for?" Everyone looks around and soon spots Plumeria sitting on a rocky hill nearby.
"What's she doing here?" asked Jimmy. Plumeria walks down from the hill and over to where everyone is and makes the Team Skull members leave.
"Hmph, you girlie..." Plumeria says as she turns to look at Lillie. "You really ready to do this finally? To be honest, I've treated you really badly. Even if I was just doing the work the president told me to do, I shouldn't have done all that. Even if I apologize now, I know it's probably too late for you to forgive me, though. See, Guzma... he really likes the president."
"A little crush, huh?" asked Sarah.
"She's the only adult who ever seemed to see how strong he was." said Plumeria.
"The president... My mother is; she's selfish!" said Lillie. "She decides all by herself what she thinks needs to be done to make other people happy, not even caring what it is they may want. But people ought to help one another out! That's what I learned here in Alola! And that is what I'm gonna teach her, too. Then I think we can save Mr. Guzma!"
"Lillie..." Edd says as he looks at Lillie with a blush on his face.
"You know... deep down, you're kind of like the president." Plumeria says to Lillie. "You've gone in a different direction, but I can tell you have the same strength in your convictions. I have you and your friends have no reason to help, but... could you help us save Guzma?"
"Okay." said Ed.
"I don't see any reason not to." said Edd.
"Fine." said Eddy.
"But this better not be a trick or you'll be sorry!" said Sarah.
"We'll do what we can." said Jimmy.
"And I'll help how I can." said Maxiley.
"That big dummy... I don't think he's even aware of it, but... Alola really means a lot to him. That's why he's doing something reckless to try and save it." said Plumeria.
"Like how me, Ed, and Eddy were willing to climb a tall mountain back in Sinnoh to stop Team Galactic's plan." said Edd. Plumeria steps forward and hands them purple Z-Crystals.
"Those are Poisonium-Z Crystals." said Plumeria. "Maybe they'll help you all out somehow."
"Thank you." said Edd.
"I guess giving you all those is also kind of, what did you call it, helping each other?" said Plumeria.
"I guess so." said Lillie.
"A trainer is only a trainer because of the Pokemon he or she have." said Plumeria. "If you ever forget that, you'll bring the wrath of the tapu down upon yourself."
"We won't forget!" said Ed.
"Agreed!" said Edd.
"You should be fine then." said Plumeria before she turns and leaves.
"I suppose even Team Skull isn't all that bad." said Lillie. "Thank you all for helping me."
"We're glad to do so." said Edd.
"Let's finally get to the altar everyone!" said Lillie. "The Vast Poni Canyon lies ahead of us!"
"Yeah!" everyone else shouts out.
The group is about to enter the Vast Poni Canyon. What awaits them as their Alola adventure continues?
