Getting Clyde Started
Lincoln and Clyde's lessons went smoothly enough, with Lincoln helping Clyde understand some of the stuff Mr Jacq said easily enough. After the first class ended, the two walk down the hallway and chat as they do.
"It's so cool that you're here in Paldea, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"I'm happy about it, too, buddy." said Clyde. "I missed you."
"I missed you, too, Clyde." said Lincoln. "Did Mr Clavell give you your first Pokemon yet?"
"Yeah, Lincoln." said Clyde as he takes a pokeball out of his pocket, then tosses it, releasing a Quaxly.
"Cool!" said Lincoln. He takes out his Rotom Phone and uses it to check out the Quaxly's data.
"Quaxly, the Duckling Pokemon. This Pokémon migrated to Paldea from distant lands long ago. The gel secreted by its feathers repels water and grime." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I have one of those Rotom Phones, too." said Clyde as he pulls a blue Rotom Phone out of his pocket.
"So have you been shown around the academy yet?" asked Lincoln.
"I only had time to see only a few parts of it." said Clyde.
"We have some time before our next class, so I can show you around a bit more." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, man." said Clyde.
"Oyeee, Lincoln!" Nemona calls out from behind them. Lincoln and Clyde look to see her running over to them.
"Hi, Nemona." said Lincoln. Nemona stops when she gets close to them, then she looks over at Clyde.
"Who's this?" asked Nemona.
"This is my best friend from America; Clyde McBride." said Lincoln. He then introduces Nemona to Clyde.
"It's nice to meet you, Clyde." said Nemona as she shakes Clyde's hand.
"Nice to meet you, too." said Clyde.
"So what are you up to?" asked Nemona.
"I'm gonna give Clyde a quick tour of the academy before our next class starts." said Lincoln.
"Can I help with that?" asked Nemona.
"Sure." said Lincoln. The three walk around and Lincoln and Nemona show him where some more stuff is; they also do the same thing after each class until the end of the school day. After their last class, the three exit the academy.
"What do you think of Naranja Academy, Clyde?" asked Nemona.
"It's so awesome." said Clyde. "And most importantly, I get to hang out with my best buddy again."
"So, what now?" asked Nemona.
"Maybe we can help Clyde catch some Pokemon for his team?" suggested Lincoln.
"I don't see why not." said Nemona.
"Let's get Clyde some pokeballs first." said Lincoln.
"Good idea." said Nemona. After they buy some pokeballs at the Pokemon Center, the three exit Mesagoza and head into South Province Area One.
"So how do you catch Pokemon?" asked Clyde. Right after he asked that, they hear something moving from behind a rock. They look behind it and see a white, humanoid Pokemon with a green dome covering the top half of its head with red horns sticking out of the front and back of it.
"That's a Ralts." said Lincoln. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and holds it towards the Ralts.
"Ralts, the Feeling Pokemon. The horns on its head provide a strong power that enables it to sense people's emotions." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"It's so adorable." said Clyde. The Ralts looks over at Clyde and walks over to him. It then circles him as if checking him out, then smiles and waves at him.
"This Ralts seems to like you, Clyde." said Nemona.
"To catch a Pokemon, you have to battle it to wear it out." said Lincoln.
"But I really don't want to hurt it." said Clyde.
"Well, if the Ralts likes you, then it might let you catch it without putting up a fight." said Nemona. "Lincoln's Pawmi let him catch her the day he came here to Paldea."
"Really?" asked Clyde.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. Clyde kneels down towards the Ralts.
"Would you like to be on my team?" Clyde asked the Ralts. The Ralts tilts its head, then jumps into Clyde's arms and hugs him.
"I'll take that as a yes." said Nemona as she laughs a little. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball and examines it.
"How does this work?" asked Clyde. The Ralts reaches towards the pokeball and presses the button on it, enlarging it; then presses it again, making the pokeball suck Ralts in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You just caught your first Pokemon, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"Awesome!" cheers Clyde. He then looks at Ralts' data on his Rotom Phone. "This says my new Ralts is a boy, he's part psychic and part fairy, he knows Growl, Disarming Voice, Double Team, and Confusion; and he has the Synchronize ability which makes it if an opposing Pokemon gives him the poisoned, paralyzed, or burn status conditions, the Pokemon will get the same thing."
"Let's work on training the Pokemon you have with you right now, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"Okay, buddy." said Clyde. The three worked on training Clyde's Quaxly and Ralts for the rest of the day; Quaxly learned Work Up and Wing Attack, and his Ralts learned Hypnosis.
Soon, the sun was starting to go down, so the three decided to head back to Mesagoza. They were just getting done climbing up the long flight of stairs in front of the academy.
"Man, that's a lot of work climbing those." said Clyde.
"You get used to it." said Lincoln.
"I'll see you all tomorrow." said Nemona as she runs off towards the academy entrance. After that, Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and calls his family; his father soon answers video chat, and Lincoln sees him, and the rest of his family gathered behind him.
"Hi, son." said Lynn Sr. "How's the Naranja Academy?"
"It's more awesome than ever." said Lincoln as he holds the phone towards Clyde.
"What's Clyde doing there?" asked Lana.
"My dads got me enrolled here yesterday because they knew how much I missed Lincoln." said Clyde.
"So, you get to hang out with cute Pokemon along with Lincoln?" asked Lola.
"That's right, it's so cool." said Clyde.
"What Pokemon do you have, Clyde?" asked Lana. Clyde takes out his two pokeballs and tosses them, releasing his Quaxly and Ralts.
"They're so cute!" said Leni.
"I wish I was there." said Lana. After the family talks for a while, they end the call.
"Let's head inside and get something to eat from the Cafeteria." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I could use something to eat." said Clyde. The two head inside the academy and do just that. After they ate, they all head towards the dorm rooms.
"So, where's your room, Clyde?" asked Lincoln.
"Believe it or not, my room is next door to yours." said Clyde, surprising Lincoln.
"That's so cool." said Lincoln. Just then, Lincoln notices Professor Sada walking down the hallway who then notices him.
"Hello, Lincoln." said Professor Sada.
"Hi, Professor Sada." said Lincoln with a blush, making Clyde turn around and gawk at Professor Sada who notices him.
"Isn't this one of your friends from America?" asked Professor Sada.
"Yes, this is Clyde McBride. His dads enrolled him here yesterday." said Lincoln.
"Well, I hope you like it here, Clyde." said Professor Sada with a smile. Just then, Clyde starts to jitter.
"RED ALERT. RED ALERT. DOES NOT COMPUTE. SYSTEM OVERLOAD. SYSTEMS SHUTTING...dooooowwwwn." said Clyde before passing out. Professor Sada looks at Clyde with concern.
"Is he okay?" asked Professor Sada.
"He does that sometimes; don't worry, he'll be fine." said Lincoln.
"I see." said Professor Sada. "Well, I'll let you handle him." She then turns and walks away. Lincoln then searches Clyde for his room's keycard and finds it, then uses it to get Clyde's door open, and lies him down on his bed. Clyde shortly wakes up and looks around.
"What happened?" asked Clyde.
"You saw Professor Sada and did the malfunctioning robot thing you used to do with Lori." said Lincoln.
"Sorry about that." said Clyde.
"No harm done." said Lincoln. The two hang out for a while before Lincoln heads back to his room. He then takes a shower, gets into his pajamas, and goes right to bed, more eager to continue his education at Naranja Academy with his best friend.
