The Treasure Hunt
One Month Later:
In the schoolyard of Naranja Academy, Clyde and Quaxly were on a battle arena facing another student and a Tarountula with Lincoln watching.
"Quaxly, Water Gun!" said Clyde. Quaxly unleashes a spiral of water from his bill, and it hits the other student's Tarountula, knocking it to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Tarountula!" said the student.
"You did it, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"Way to go, Quaxly." said Clyde. The other student returns Tarountula to its pokeball. He walks over to Clyde.
"Good battle." said the student, giving Clyde pokedollars.
"Thanks." replied Clyde. The student walks away while Lincoln walks over to Clyde.
"Good job, Clyde; you're really getting good at Pokemon Battles." said Lincoln.
"Thanks to everything I learned here, as well as the support of my best buddy." replied Clyde. He takes out pokedollars he has in his pocket and combines it with the pokedollars he won. "I think I have enough money for that Mystic Water."
"Want to head down to Delibird Presents to buy it?" asked Lincoln.
"How about after lunch; I'm getting hungry." replied Clyde.
"Sure. I also want to hear the announcement Mr. Clavell has for us later." said Lincoln. Clyde returns Quaxly to his pokeball and he and Lincoln walked into the academy for the cafeteria.
Lincoln and Clyde have done a lot together since Clyde enrolled at the academy. They put all their efforts into their studies, and supported and helped each other as they did. When they weren't studying at the academy, they trained up their Pokemon in South Province Area One.
Clyde caught some more Pokemon for his team there; such as a Hoppip, which was a girl, knew Tackle, Splash, and Tail Whip, plus had the Chlorophyll ability which boosted her speed when it was really sunny out; he also caught a Fidough, which was also a girl, knew Tackle, Growl, and Lick, and knew the Own Tempo ability which prevents his attack power from being lowered by the Intimidate ability.
While the two were training up their current Pokemon, Lincoln's Sprigatito learned Magical Leaf and Quick Attack; his Pawmi learned Nuzzle and Dig, his Tarountula learned Feint and Bug Bite, his Hoppip learned Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, and Sythesis; his Vivillon learned Light Screen and Psybeam, and his Lechonk learned Mud Shot and Covet.
Clyde's Quaxly learned Aqua Jet, his Ralts learned Draining Kiss and Teleport, his Hoppip learned all the moves that Lincoln's Hoppip knew, and his Fidough learned Tail Whip, Covet, Bite, and Baby-Doll Eyes.
Lincoln and Clyde also did some Tera Raid battles as well. During them, Lincoln caught himself a Shroomish that was a boy, knew Tackle, Absorb, Stun Spore, Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Headbutt, and Spore; and had the Effect Spore ability which could poison, paralyze, or put any Pokemon that hits him with a physical move to sleep.
Also, during their Tera Raid battles, Clyde caught himself a Swablu that was a girl; knew Growl, Peck, Disarming Voice, Mist, Fury Attack, Dragon Breath, and Round; and also had the Natural Cure ability which will cure her of any status condition when returned to her pokeball.
Lincoln and Clyde would call their respective families and friends back in Royal Woods to tell them about what they've done so far in their days at the academy.
Lynn Sr and Rita finally finished their community service, much to their relief in more ways than one.
Lincoln talked to Bobby and Sam and after talking, managed to convince them to forgive Lori and Luna and get back together with them, which Lori and Luna were very grateful for.
They also spent their time hanging out with the friends they made there. Lincoln and Clyde would go over battle strategies with Nemona and talk to Arven about the Titan Pokemon. After a short time, Penny would start spending some time with them, with her seeming to be interested in Clyde.
Lincoln and Clyde were really enjoying their time at Naranja Academy, aside from Ms. Dendra's rigorous workouts, and Clyde's fainting spells when he sees Professor Sada when she visits the academy when she's not working in Area Zero.
Right now, Lincoln, Clyde, Nemona, Arven, and Penny were in the cafeteria having lunch together, talking about something that the teachers told them that very morning.
"What do you think Mr. Clavell's announcement is?" Lincoln asked his friends.
"I don't know, buddy." said Clyde.
"Maybe there's a big assignment coming up?" suggested Nemona.
"When is the announcement again?" asked Lincoln.
"After lunch I think in the Schoolyard." said Penny.
"Then we should all head there after we finish eating." Clyde says to Penny, making her blush a little.
After everyone finished eating, they hurry over to the Schoolyard where a lot of students were already waiting in front of a large stage that had Mr. Clavell, along with the rest of the academy staff, plus Professor Sada, on it. Once it was confirmed that everyone was in attendance, Mr. Clavell walks over to a microphone that was on the stage.
"Excellent, it seems everyone is here. Well then, I think it's time I explained your independent study assignment." said Mr. Clavell. "As usual, the theme will be 'a treasure hunt'. I ask each of you to set out and travel the world in search of your own treasure. You have learned much within the walls of our fine academy. But now it's time to open your eyes upon the wider world and deepen your understanding. Explore Paldea's abundant nature, soak in its rich culture, discover the Pokemon that live and get to know the people, too. Of course, your Pokemon partners will be there to help you." Hearing that, Lincoln takes Sprigatito's pokeball out of his belt and looks at it with a look of determination on his face while Clyde does the same with Quaxly's. "You will journey together, learn new things together, share each other's thoughts and feelings, and find something you might always treasure. Let the Treasure Hunt begin! Onward!" All the students roared with applause.
Later at an ice cream cart in Mesagoza, Lincoln and Clyde were having ice cream while what they're going to do on their Treasure Hunt assignment.
"Man, this assignment sounds so awesome!" said Lincoln.
"I know. Travelling the region, seeing new kinds of Pokemon other than the ones we found in South Province Area One." said Clyde. "It's going to be so cool." After they finished their ice cream, they run back to the academy. Later in Lincoln's dorm room, he was talking to his family were on video chat about the Treasure Hunt assignment.
"Wow, Lincoln; this Treasure Hunt assignment sounds very exciting." said Lynn Sr.
"Traveling the entire Paldea region, seeing new Pokemon and new places. Sounds like fun." said Rita.
"It does." said Lincoln.
"You are so lucky you get to do all that." said Lana. Lynn Sr suddenly whips his head towards Lana with a frown on his face.
"Next person who says the L-word in this house gets litterbox duty next time we go see Aunt Ruth AND has to scrape the calluses off her feet!" exclaimed Lynn Sr.
"Cool." said Lana.
"Except for you, Lana; instead, you'll take two baths a day with scented soap." said Lynn Sr.
"Yes, sir." said Lana, nervously.
"Anyway, be careful while travelling around Paldea." said Rita.
"And you and Clyde stick together and watch each other's backs." said Lynn Sr.
"We will, Dad." said Lincoln. "We'll have our Pokemon with use too." They all talk for a while longer before ending the call. Lincoln then walks over to his dorm room window and looks out over Mesagoza.
'Out there in the Paldea Region, my biggest adventure so far is waiting for me. I wonder what kind of Pokemon me and Clyde will see? What kind of cities will be visit? What sorts of areas will we explore? Tomorrow we're going to find out.' Lincoln thinks to himself. After that, he starts packing things for his Treasure Hunt.
