Playing with Fire
Lincoln and Clyde continue going down the path leading to the next Team Star base until they finally reached its front wall.
"There it is." said Clyde. Just then, his Rotom Phone flies out of his pocket and floats in front of him.
"Hello, Clyde." said Cassiopeia's voice from Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Hey, Cassiopeia." said Clyde.
"I see you two are approaching the Fire Crew's base." said Cassiopeia.
"Yeah, we're ready to take them on." said Clyde.
"I hope you're right." said Cassiopeia. "A little bit of advice about the Team Star Fire Crew's leader; Mela has known to play a little rough."
"So Mela is the name of this crew's leader?" asked Clyde.
"Yeah, she has a real fiery personality, so don't take her lightly." said Cassiopeia.
"We'll be careful." said Clyde.
"Be careful." said Cassiopeia. Clyde's Rotom Phone then flies back into his pocket.
"Ready to do this, buddy?" Lincoln asked Clyde.
"Let's do it." said Clyde. They walk towards the front gate where a Team Star member was standing guard, unaware that a Charcadet was watching them from behind a rock.
"Hey! What are you two doing here?!" asked the Team Star member.
"We're here to challenge your leader; that's what!" said Clyde.
"Oh, you must be a comedian." said the Team Star member. "If you wanna get to our leader, then you'll need to get past me!"
"Is that all?" replied Clyde. "Then this won't take long." He and the Team Star member each take out a pokeball.
"Go, Houndour!" said the Team Star member, throwing a pokeball and releasing a black, doglike Pokemon. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Houndour, the Dark Pokemon. It is smart enough to hunt in packs. It uses a variety of cries for communicating with others." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Go, Quaxwell!" said Clyde, throwing Quaxwell's pokeball and releasing him. "Quaxwell, Aqua Jet!" Quaxwell becomes surrounded by water and flies at Houndour; he rams into Houndour, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Houndour, Bite!" said the Team Star member. Houndour lunges at Quaxwell and bites his arm.
"Quaxwell, use Low Sweep!" said Clyde. Quaxwell kicks Houndour's legs and deals super effective damage to it, knocking it out.
"No!" exclaimed the Team Star member.
"Great job, Quaxwell." said Clyde. The Team Skull member lowers his head and returns Houndour to its pokeball; he then tosses pokedollars to Clyde and runs inside the base.
"What Pokemon are you going to use, Clyde?" asked Lincoln.
"I'll go with my Quaxwell, Naclstack, and maybe Litleo." said Clyde.
"I'll use Shellder, Lycanroc, and Finizen." said Lincoln.
"If you're ready, then let's take these guys down." said Clyde. The two push the button on the gate to open it, then stroll on inside. As soon as they did; they hear someone talking over the P.A System.
"Attention all Team Star members! A couple of kids with attitude problems just walked in like they own our base! Teach them a lesson!" said the voice. Lincoln and Clyde look to see a lot of Team Star members throwing pokeballs, releasing a large variety of fire type Pokemon such as Houndours, Torkoals, Larvestas, Growlithes, Charcadets, and Litleos.
"Okay; Quaxwell, use Aqua Jet on the Houndours; Naclstack, use Mud Shot on the Litleos; and Litleo, use Headbutt on the Charcadets!" said Clyde.
"Shellder, use Whirlpool on the Torkoals! Lycanroc, use Accelerock on the Larvestas! Finizen, use Aqua Jet on the Growlithes!" said Lincoln.
The boys' Pokemon went all out against the incoming horde of Team Star's Pokemon, taking them down left and right. After several minutes of battling, the Team Star members were nearly out of Pokemon that were able to battle.
"These runts are too much!" said a Team Star member.
"We need the boss for these guys!" said another Team Star member.
The sound of an engine was soon heard coming from a large tent; two Team Star members open the flap on the front of it, revealing a vehicle like the one at the Dark Crew's base with its engine revving up; on top of it was a girl with fiery red and yellow hair, wearing a black bodysuit with a white vest over it that had a Naranja Academy insignia on it, black fingerless gloves, and red, knee-high boots.
"So, you're the two little kids who took down Giacomo?" asked the girl.
"And we're guessing you're Mela." said Clyde.
"You got that right." said Mela.
"Well, we're here to take you down!" said Lincoln.
"You're welcome to try." said Mela. "So, who do I get to crush first?"
"You can try to crush me, first; but I will beat you." replied Clyde, stepping forward while pulling out a pokeball.
"Cute, and gutsy; I like that." said Mela with a smirk, making Clyde blush; he shakes his head. Mela pulls out a pokeball. "Torkoal, go!" She throws a pokeball and releases a Torkoal.
"Quaxwell, go!" said Clyde, throwing Quaxwell's pokeball and releasing him. "Use Water Pulse, Quaxwell!" Quaxwell forms a blue ball of water between his hands and launches it at Torkoal; it hits it and deals super effective damage.
"Rapid Spin, Torkoal!" said Mela. Torkoal tucks its head and legs into its shell and begins spinning towards Quaxwell, hitting it, and knocking him back; energy begins surging through Torkoal. "Rapid Spin increases the speed of the Pokemon using it."
"That won't matter with this move; Quaxwell, Aqua Jet!" said Clyde. Quaxwell becomes surrounded by water and flies at Torkoal, ramming it, and dealing super effective damage to it, knocking it out. "Great job, Quaxwell." Mela frowns and returned Torkoal to its pokeball.
"Not bad, cute stuff." said Mela, putting Torkoal's pokeball away and pulling out another pokeball. "Now let's see how you handle Revavroom!" The Revavroom on the Starmobile begins rumbling. "Revavroom, use Swift!" Revavroom launches multiple stars from its body, and they hit Quaxwell, knocking him back. Revavroom begins surging with energy. "Looks like Revavroom's Speed Boost ability activated."
"Oh man; so now Revavroom's speed will increases every now and then." said Lincoln.
"Quaxwell, use Aqua Cutter!" said Clyde. Quaxwell jumps towards Revavroom while his hand was surrounded by water and he slashes Revavroom with it, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Use Blazing Torque!" said Mela. Revavroom charges at Quaxwell while surrounded by fire and rams him, but not dealing much damgae to him; fire surrounded Quaxwell's body.
"Oh man, Quaxwell's burned." said Lincoln. Quaxwell flinches in pain from his burn and loses some stamina. Revavroom receives another speed increases from its Speed Boost.
"Good thing burn doesn't weaken special attack strength." said Clyde. "Quaxwell, Water Pulse!" Quaxwell forms a ball of blue water between his hands and launches it at Revavroom, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it.
"Revavroom, Overheat!" said Mela. Revavroom releases a large stream of swirling fire from its mouth, and it hits Quaxwell, but not dealing much damage to him. Quaxwell receives damage from his burn, and he drops to one knee; a blue aura suddenly surrounds his body.
"I think your Torrent ability activated!" said Clyde. "Okay, Quaxwell, Water Pulse!" Quaxwell launches another blue ball of water at Revavroom and hits it, dealing enough damage to knock it out. "You did it, Quaxwell!" Quaxwell lets out a sigh of relief. Mela drops to her hands and knees.
"I guess it's over for me." said Mela. Lincoln walks to Mela.
"Hey, Mela; why did you join Team Star?" asked Lincoln.
"Bullies." replied Mela. "Back at the academy, I was always picked on by other girls because of how cute I was."
"What kind of reason to pick on you is that?!" asked Lincoln.
"A no good one, that's what." said Clyde.
"You two are sweet." said Mela. She hops off the Starmobile and walks over to Clyde. "Because you beat me, you get my Star Badge." She gives Clyde a badge that had a fire-shaped emblem on it; she also had a picture taken with her, Lincoln, and Clyde together, showing her nuzzling her cheeks against Lincoln and Clyde's. After that, a Charcadet walks over to them.
"Hey, a Charcadet." said Lincoln. Mela looks at the Charcadet.
"Charlos, is that you?" asked Mela.
"You know this Charcadet?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes; we used to play together all the time when I use to go to the academy." said Mela. "I can tell more or less of what its thinking just by looking at the way its flames move."
"What is it doing here?" asked Clyde.
"Maybe it wants you to come back to the academy." said Lincoln. He then turned towards the Starmobile. "So, why do you have those big cars?"
"The Starmobiles?" replied Mela. "We were going to use them in Operation: Star."
"What's that?" asked Clyde.
"It was a big fight that was supposed to happen over a year ago to deal with the bullies that bothered me and the other Team Star bosses." replied Mela.
"So, what are you going to do now?" asked Clyde.
"I'll need some time to think about it." replied Mela. She then kisses Lincoln and Clyde on their cheeks, making them blush. Soon, Lincoln and Clyde were exiting the base.
"Well, that takes care of another base." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, but I feel bad for Mela, being the way she is for being bullied." said Clyde.
"I agree, it stinks." said Lincoln. Just then, Clyde's Rotom Phone flies out of his pocket.
"Greetings, Clyde." said Cassiopeia.
"Hey, Cassiopeia." replied Clyde.
"You did a fine job taking down the Fire Crew. Mela is a strong trainer." said Cassiopeia. Clyde's Rotom Phone chimed. "I just transferred some more funds to your Rotom Phone, and I'm sending Penny to give you more TM materials."
"Okay, thanks." said Clyde. His Rotom Phone returns to his pocket. A minute later, Penny arrives.
"H-H-Hi, Clyde." said Penny.
"Hey, Penny." said Clyde. Penny blushes and holds out a medium sized box to Clyde.
"Here are the items Cassiopeia wanted me to deliver to you." said Penny.
"Thanks, Penny." said Clyde, taking the box. Penny takes a long look at Clyde before walking away.
With another Team Star base taken down, Lincoln and Clyde can continue on to Levincia where Lincoln's next gym battle awaits him.
