Hello, everyone! Northstar Pokeshipper here, and welcome to the next chapter of "A Long Distance Ship". Last time, Ash learned of a gym in the Petalburg City and made plans to head over there. Meanwhile, Misty started prepping the gym for challengers while Brock headed off on a new journey after helping out his family. Anyways, this chapter will focus on the third episode of the Advanced Generation. How will it go for Ash? Let's find out!

Hey guys, I have finally made it to Petalburg City to take on the gym! When I got to the gym, I met May's family and I learned that her dad is the gym leader! I guess that is why she was nervous about me finding it out. Anyways, I learned from May's brother, Max, that Norman focuses on three-on-three Pokémon battles. But I only brought Pikachu with me, so I ended up doing a trial run against his Vigoroth. Do you guys think it was a mistake to just bring Pikachu along to the Hoenn region? Anyways, I quickly learned that the trainers here are no slouches, as Norman gave Pikachu a ton of trouble, and I am now 0-2 against trainers from the Hoenn region. Anyways, May, Max, and I are heading out for Rustboro City for my actual first badge. Wish me luck!
Ash
PS: It will take me a while to get there, and as me and the others will probably be far from any computer for a while, expect a while before you hear from me again.

I am sorry to hear that your first "gym battle" didn't go so well, Ash. But I think that you have made the correct choice in only bringing Pikachu. Remember how easily you crushed the early parts of the Johto region because you brought Charizard along? You made the right call in leaving your old Pokémon behind to focus solely on your new captures. Anyways, the gym business is going well so far. I haven't received many challengers yet, but it is the off season for trainers, so that is to be expected. Anyways, good luck for the Rustboro Gym, Ash.
Misty
PS: Name starts with M. Name ends with Y. Had her bike BBQed by Pikachu during an encounter with trouble. Has a gym leader in her family. Embarrassed by the fact and tried to slow you down from learning it for as much as possible. Does your new friend remind you of anyone, Ash? ;)

Hey there, Ash. Glad to hear that you have finally started the gym challenge. Even though it was a complete dud as you didn't have enough Pokémon, you at least got a taste of what the trainers in Hoenn had to offer. You didn't make a mistake by leaving behind almost all of your Pokémon, Ash. Anyways, I am almost to my final destination, and I should reach there by tomorrow morning. I will talk to you when I get there.
Brock.
And that is it for this part of "A Long Distance Ship". xavierxaphista asked why I didn't mention the bikes in the one chapter. Well, it is because I wanted to metnion it in THIS chapter. Trust me, watching Advanced Generation after watching the Original series all the way through, you can see many ways how the former copied the latter, especially early on, from the obvious to the more obscure. IHaveSomeThoughts said the story was fun so far, and cannot wait to see where the journey goes as I tie the Hoenn journeys in the canon to the fic. I am sure you will love it, pal. And thanks to him and cufa03 for adding this story to your favorites list. Make sure to keep the favorites, follows, and reviews coming, as they show that you like this and want me to continue! See you next time!
