Apple Hills
After Lincoln and Kieran's battle, and they get their Pokemon treated quickly; they, along with Clyde and Carmine, start planning on what they were going to do first.
"Where's the first signboard at?" asked Lincoln.
"The first one is in Loyalty Plaza." said Kieran. "We can follow a path west of town that goes through an area called the Apple Hills to get there."
"That sounds easy enough." said Lincoln. "Maybe along the way I can see other kinds of Pokemon that can be found in Kitakami."
"Me, too." said Clyde.
"Be sure to let us watch, Lincoln." said Luan.
"Yeah, my subscribers would like to see what it's like there also." said Iono.
"I'll have my Rotom Phone showing everything I see." said Lincoln.
"And Clyde sweetie, make sure to be careful." said Howard McBride.
"I will, Dad." said Clyde.
"Maybe we should stock up on supplies first." suggested Lincoln.
"There's a store over there." said Kieran, pointing at a small building with a sign reading 'Peachy's' on it nearby.
"Thanks, Kieran." said Lincoln. He and Clyde walk over to the store with the shopkeeper noticing them.
"Hello, young ones; would you like to buy something?" asked the shopkeeper. Lincoln and Clyde look at the selection of items the store had; Lincoln then notices a pink and cream-colored pokeball.
"Hey, those are Heal Balls." said Lincoln.
"Don't those immediately heal any Pokemon you catch, as well as cure them of any status conditions they might have?" asked Clyde.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. "I'll buy some in case I find a Sentret for Lily."
"Good idea." said Clyde. They both each purchase ten Heal Balls; after that, they head back over to Kieran and Carmine.
"Are you two ready yet?" asked Carmine impatiently.
"We are." said Lincoln. Carmine then grabs Clyde's wrist and starts pulling him towards the west exit of Mossui Town.
"Let's go." said Carmine. "I want to get there first before the other pairs do."
"I don't think this is a race." said Clyde. "And I can walk fine on my own so you don't have to pull." As Carmine and Clyde exit the town, Lincoln and Kieran were watching with blank stares.
"Is your sister always so competitive?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah." said Kieran.
"You ready, Kieran?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes, Lincoln." Kieran replies.
"Then let's get going." said Lincoln before he and Kieran head towards their destination.
Meanwhile in the Apple Hills, Clyde and Carmine were walking up the hill on their way to the first signboard. As they do, Clyde sees a Pokemon with a yellow, bell-shaped head and a brown body that looked like a stem that had two, green, leaflike arms.
"What's that?" asked Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bellsprout, the Flower Pokemon. No matter what Bellsprout is doing, if it detects movement nearby, it will immediately react by reaching out with its thin vines." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"I'm catching this Pokemon." said Clyde while pulling out a pokeball.
"Make it snappy; I don't want my little brother and your little friend catching up." said Carmine, making Clyde do an eyeroll.
"Litleo, go!" said Clyde, throwing Litleo's pokeball and releasing him. "Okay, Litleo, use Work Up!" Litleo becomes surrounded by a light red aura and his attack and special attack strength increases. Bellsprout turned towards Litleo and releases a sparkling purple powder from its mouth onto Litleo; it turned purple under Litleo's eyes. "That looked like Poison Powder." Litleo coughs and loses stamina from his poisoning.
"Litleo, Ember!" said Clyde. Litleo unleashes bits of fire out of his mouth and they hit Bellsprout, doing super effective damage to it. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Bellsprout, hitting it, and sucking it in; it moved around until it clicked. "Yes! Bellsprout's mine!" Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and uses it to look up Bellsprout's information.
"Okay, this says Bellsprout's a girl, she knows Vine Whip, Growth, Wrap, Sleep Powder, and Poison Powder." said Clyde. "She has the Chlorophyll ability which increases her speed when it's really sunny out." Clyde uses his Rotom Phone to swap his Cyclizar for Bellsprout; he then takes an Antidote out of his backpack and uses it on Litleo, curing his poisoning.
"Will you hurry up already?!" exclaimed Carmine.
"Okay, okay!" replied Clyde as he returns Litleo to his pokeball. After Clyde puts it away, Carmine grabs Clyde's wrist and pulls him along.
Meanwhile, with Lincoln and Kieran, they were looking around at all the apple trees on the Apple Hills
"Now I see where this area got its name." said Lincoln.
"There are sure a lot of apple trees there." said Leni.
"I can make a lot of pies from all those." said Lynn Sr.
"What kind of Pokemon are there?" asked Lana. As Lincoln looks around, he spots a Sentret near a shed.
"A Sentret!" said Lincoln.
"Sentwet!" said Lily as she claps her hands.
"Don't worry, Lily; I'll catch it for you." said Lincoln, making Lily giggle.
"What are you going to use?" asked Kieran. Lincoln takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing his Finizen.
"Finizen, use Aqua Jet!" said Lincoln. Finizen coats himself in water and propels himself at the Sentret, hitting it; the Sentret responds by repeatedly swiping at him with its paws. "Finizen, use Double Hit!" Finizen moves towards the Sentret and whacks it two times with his tail fin. Lincoln then takes out a Heal Ball and throws it at the Sentret, hitting it, and sucking it in; the Heal Ball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, Lincoln!" said Lana. As Lincoln's new Sentret is teleported to storage, he looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says that Sentret's a girl, she knows Scratch, Defense Curl, Quick Attack, and Fury Swipes; plus she has the Keen Eye ability which prevents her accuracy from being lowered." said Lincoln.
"That was amazing, Lincoln." said Kieran. Lincoln then uses his Rotom Phone to send Sentret to the Loud house.
"I just sent Sentret over, guys." Lincoln says to his family, making Lisa run up to her room to retrieve Lily's new Pokemon; a minute later, Lincoln and Kieran were watching Lily cuddling Sentret.
"Lily appreciates this, Lincoln." said Rita.
"No problem." said Lincoln.
"You're so nice to your baby sister, cutie!" said Iono with a smile.
"Let's keep going, Kieran." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Kieran. As the two continue up the Apple Hills, Lincoln looks at the apples on the ground; he also notices that some of them were moving.
"What's with those apples?" asked Lynn Sr.
"Uggh; maybe they have worms in them." said Lola.
"I hope so." said Lana as she licks her lips. Lincoln gets a close look at them and notice that the leaves had eyes, and that there was a green tail coming out of them.
"There's something in them, but I don't think they're worms." said Lincoln. He takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the 'apples'.
"Applin, the Apple Core Pokemon. It grows by eating the flesh of an apple. Applin uses its own body fluid to strengthen the apple's skin and prevent it from rotting." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Hey, Lincoln; can I catch this Pokemon?" asked Kieran.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "This says that Applin is part grass, so your Yanma would have an advantage."
"Okay." said Kieran. He takes out his Yanma's pokeball and lets it out. "Yanma, use Quick Attack." Yanma flies at the Applin and tackles it; the Applin responds by turning around, then turning back towards Yanma while making a scary face, startling it, and making it fall to the ground.
"Don't worry, Kieran; you can still win." said Lincoln. Kieran gets a look of resolve on his face.
"Yanma, use Air Cutter!" said Kieran. Yanma flaps its wings repeatedly, releasing blades of air at the Applin, hitting it, and doing super effective damage; it falls onto its back.
"Catch it, Kieran!" said Lincoln. Kieran quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Applin, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"I...I did it." said Kieran.
"Good job, Kieran." said Lincoln.
"Nice one, Kieran." said Luna.
"What's it like?" asked Lana.
"I think the only moves Applin would know are Astonish and Withdraw." said Kieran. "It has three different evolutionary forms; what it becomes depends on what apple it eats, but one requires a special process for it to go through."
"Fascinating." said Lisa.
"Let's go catch up with Clyde and your sister." said Lincoln.
"How can we?" asked Kieran. Lincoln thinks for a few seconds before smirking and pulling a pokeball out of his pocket.
Later, higher up the hill; Carmine and Clyde were getting closer to the Loyalty Plaza.
"Hurry, we're almost there!" said Carmine.
"Easy, this isn't a race." said Clyde.
"Just move it!" said Carmine. Just then, they hear the sound of fast-moving footsteps approaching them; they look to see Lincoln's Cyclizar, with Lincoln and Kieran riding it, suddenly run past them.
"Hey, Carmine; eat our dust!" said Lincoln.
"What is that?!" asked Carmine.
"That's a Cyclizar." said Clyde.
"He had that the whole time?!" asked Carmine.
"Yeah, I got one also." said Clyde.
"Well, bring it out so we can catch up with them!" said Carmine.
"I don't have her with me right now; I swapped her for Bellsprout when I caught her." said Clyde.
"Dang it!" said Carmine.
Lincoln and Clyde are already off to a good start with their orienteering exercise. What new things will they discover and experience as their Kitakami adventure continues?
