Clyde vs Carmine (Round Two)
Lincoln, Clyde, and Kieran make their way down from Oni Mountain and soon reach Kitakami Hall where they see that more stands were set up.
"The festival tonight looks like it's going to be lots of fun." said Kieran.
"I'm glad the class trip was around the time of it." said Lincoln.
"Me, too." said Clyde.
"I wish I was there." said Lana.
"It does look like a lot of fun." said Luan.
"I'd go there with Lincoln." said Iono.
"Let's head back to Mossui Town." said Kieran. "I want to get home and change into my festival clothes."
"Is there a dress code?" asked Lincoln with worry.
"Don't worry." said Kieran. "I'm sure there's some extra outfits you can get."
"Thanks." said Clyde.
The three then exit Kitakami Hall and make their way down Reveler's Road; Lincoln then spots some movement in the air and looks to see a black spectre-looking Pokemon that had a brown tree stump with eyeholes around its head.
"What is that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Phantump, the Stump Pokemon. Legend tells that its green leaves can cure any illness. When plucked, however, the leaves will instantly wither away." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"At the academy, I learned that this Pokemon was made when the soul of a deceased child possessed a tree stump." said Lincoln.
"Wicked." said Lucy.
"Would you like me to catch it for you, Lucy?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes, dear brother." said Lucy.
"Since Phantump's a grass type, this will be a good opportunity to give my Chimchar some more training." said Lincoln as he takes his Chimchar's pokeball out of his pocket and throws it, releasing the Pokemon inside.
"Do it, buddy!" said Clyde.
"Chimchar, use Ember!" said Lincoln. Chimchar releases bits of fire from his mouth that hit Phantump, doing super effective damage; parts of its body suddenly catch fire.
"It's burned!" said Clyde. Phantump retaliates by launching seeds at Chimchar that suddenly sprout vines that wrap around him; they suddenly drain some of his stamina that is transferred to Phantump and heal some of its wounds, but then its burns do some damage to it.
"That's a good way to offset the damage from its burns." said Lincoln. "Chimchar, use Ember one more time!" Chimchar hits Phantump with another barrage of embers, doing more super effective damage to it. Lincoln, deciding the opponent was weakened enough, takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Phantump, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, Lincoln!" said Clyde.
"He's good." said Kieran. As Phantump's pokeball is sent to storage, Lincoln looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says that Phantump's a girl, she knows Tackle, Astonish, Branch Poke, Leech Seed, and Confuse Ray; she has the Natural Cure ability which heals her when she's returned to her pokeball during battle." said Lincoln. He then uses his Rotom Phone to send his newest Pokemon to the Loud house.
After Lincoln returns his Chimchar to his pokeball, the three walk all the way back to Mossui Townn where they then go to Kieran and Carmine's grandparents' house. When they get there, they see an elderly man wearing a green shirt, brown shorts and sandals, standing outside.
"Grandpa, I'm home!" said Kieran.
"Welcome home, Kieran." said Kieran's grandfather; he turned towards Lincoln and Clyde. "Who are these two with you?"
"These are Lincoln and Clyde; they're part of the same trip as me and Sis." replied Kieran.
"Oho! These are new friends of yours, eh, Kieran?" asked Kieran's grandfather.
"We sure are." replied Lincoln.
"W-What, r-really?! We're friends?" asked Kieran.
"Of course we are." replied Clyde. "We hung out together, so that makes us friends."
"F-Friends; I feel all tingly and funny hearing that." replied Kieran before he began chuckling.
"Thank you for befriending Kieran here, you two." said Kieran's grandfather just as an elderly woman wearing a tan shirt, brown pants, and sandals walks next to him.
"Oh, Kieran made friends?" asked the elderly woman.
"Y-Yeah; these are Lincoln and Clyde." replied Kieran. He turned towards Lincoln and Clyde. "This is my grandma."
"Please to meet you." said Lincoln.
"We're delighted to have friends of Kieran." said the woman, revealed to be Kieran's grandmother. She and Kieran's grandfather look up at the sky.
"Oh, my, is it already sundown?" asked Kieran's grandfather.
"Goodness me, I'd nearly forgotten; the Festival of Masks starts tonight, doesn't it?" asked Kieran's grandmother; she turned towards the boys. "Come now, you three; I'll get some jinbei for you three so you can go to the festival all gussied up."
"Hear that? We get to dress up in jinbei! Yay!" cheered Kieran.
"What's jinbei?" asked Lana.
"A traditional Japanese summer garment." replied Lisa.
"Now, don't you three go running off just yet; we still have to do your hair, too." said Kieran's grandmother.
Moments later, the boys were dressed in jinbei's and sandals, and their hair was done in top knots; Lincoln was dressed in an orange jinbei with light orange designs, Clyde was dressed in yellow jinbei with blue designs, and Kieran was in white jinbei with light gray designs.
"They suit you boys mighty fine, just like I thought they would." said Kieran's grandmother.
"Oh, my Linky looks so cute!" said Iono, making Lincoln blush.
"They, totes, suit you, Lincoln and Clyde." said Leni.
"Goodness; it's like we've gain two more grandsons." said Kieran's grandfather. Just then, Carmine comes walking out of the house, wearing blue jinbei with light blue designs on them.
"Hey, Gran, d'you know where my..." Carmine started to say before she sees Lincoln and Clyde. "Hi, Linky. You look so adorable in that jinbei."
"Don't try anything with my cutie!" said Iono, making Carmine smirk at her.
"Don't tempt me." said Carmine before looking back towards Lincoln and Clyde. "So, what brings you two here? Did you come to see me, Lincoln?"
"Actually, they're coming with us to the festival." said Kieran.
"Oh, is that so?" asked Carmine as she rests her arm on one of Lincoln's shoulders, making him blush.
"What's it matter anyway?!" asked Kieran. "What're YOU doin' back here?!"
"Oh, right." Carmine said before looking toward her and Kieran's grandmother. "Gran, I couldn't find my mask for the festival."
"Oh, the masks?" Kieran and Carmine's grandmother replied. "They should be in the shed. I put them there after last year's festival."
"It shouldn't be locked, so you four can go have a rummage and see what you find." said Kieran and Carmine's grandfather.
"All right! To the shed! First one there wins!" said Carmine as she runs towards the shed.
"Wait; sis! You're such a cheater!" said Kieran as he watches his sister run off.
"Talk about competitive." said Lincoln.
"She's, literally, almost as bad as Lynn." said Lori.
"Hey!" Lynn responds before she leaps at Lori and the two start to fight, making Lincoln, Clyde, and Kieran sweatdrop.
"Are they always like that?" asked Kieran.
"Yeah." replied Lincoln.
"You have no idea what they're willing to do just to win." said Clyde in a sour voice, making Lincoln clench one of his fists.
"Let's hurry and get to the shed." said Kieran before he runs off after his sister.
"Forgive those two." said Kieran and Carmine's grandmother. "They can be a bit rambunctious."
"So can my family." said Lincoln. He and Clyde then walked down the direction Carmine and Kieran ran down until they reached a shed that Carmine and Kieran were digging through.
"But there's got to be another one!" exclaimed Carmine.
"What's going on?" asked Lincoln, getting Carmine and Kieran's attention.
"There's only two masks in the shed." replied Carmine. "Too bad, right? There's nothing I can do about it. Guess you two have to do without masks, eh? First come, first served, and all that?"
"Don't worry; we saw a stand that was selling masks back at Kitakami Hill; me and Clyde will just do with those instead." said Lincoln.
"Yeah." said Clyde. Carmine turned towards Clyde.
"How about you and me battle; I want a rematch with you after our first battle." said Carmine.
"Sounds good to me." replied Clyde. Moments later, Clyde and Carmine were standing several feet from each other while Lincoln and Kieran watched. Clyde and Carmine each pull out a pokeball. "How many Pokemon are we using."
"We're using four Pokemon this time." said Carmine.
"Fine by me." said Clyde.
"Morpeko, go!" said Carmine, throwing a pokeball and releasing a rodent like Pokemon that had black fur on the left side of its body, brown on the right, and a cream color in the middle and lower half. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Morpeko, the Two-Sided Pokemon. Morpeko eats seeds constantly to keep its hunger at bay. If it's hungry for too long, it grows wild and brutish." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Kirlia, go!" said Clyde, throwing Kirlia's pokeball and releasing him.
"Morpeko, Quick Attack!" said Carmine. Morpeko charges at Kirlia with incredible speed and rams him, knocking him back.
"Okay, Kirlia, use Disarming Voice!" Kirlia lets out a yell and releases pink soundwaves surrounded by hearts and musical notes that hits Morpeko, dealing super effective damage. Morpeko suddenly begins to glow and his fur was now black on both its left and right sides, purple down the middle, and lower half, and it had red eyes.
"What happened with Morpeko?" asked Luna.
"Morpeko's Hunger Switch Ability; the form Morpeko was in before was its Full Belly Mode, now it's in Hangry Mode." said Carmine. "Morpeko, Thunder Shock!" Morpeko releases electricity from its body and it hits Kirlia, damaging him.
"Kirlia, Draining Kiss!" said Clyde. Kirlia runs at Morpeko and kisses it, dealing super effective damage while draining its remaining stamina and healing his wounds; Morpeko collapses to the ground, unconscious.
"Way to go, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Yeah! Show that hussy!" said Iono.
"That's our boy!" said Howard McBride. Carmine growls and returns Morpeko to its pokeball, then pulls out another one.
"Swadloon, go!" said Carmine, throwing a pokeball, releasing a round, yellow Pokemon surrounded by a leafy cloak. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Swadloon, the Leaf-Wrapped Pokemon, and the evolved form of Sewaddle. Swadloon lives quietly at the feet of trees. It prefers eating fallen leaves that have grown soft rather than fresh ones." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Kirlia, Psybeam!" said Clyde. Kirlia fires a multicolored beam of energy from his hands and it hits Swadloon, damaging it.
"Swadloon, Trailblaze!" said Carmine. Swadloon moves quickly toward Kirlia while surrounded by a green glow and rams into him, knocking him back; a surge of energy goes through Swadloon.
"Trailblaze increases the speed of the Pokemon using it." said Lincoln.
"We won't let that stop us, right, Kirlia?" replied Clyde. Kirlia nods in response. "Use Confusion!" Kirlia's eyes glowed purple and Swadloon does as well; it ges lifted up into the air and gets slammed onto the ground; it gets up and begins stumbling around.
"Swadloon's confused!" said Lincoln.
"Swadloon, Razor Leaf!" said Carmine. Unfortunately, confusion gets the best of Swadloon and it ends up hurting itself.
"Disarming Voice!" said Clyde. Kirlia unleashes more pink soundwaves with hearts and musical note in them and they hit Swadloon, knocking it out.
"Wow." Kieran said quietly so Carmine couldn't hear him.
"You're doing fine, Clyde." said Harold McBride.
"Keep it up!" said Lola. Carmine growls before returning Swadloon to its pokeball; she puts it away, and pulls out another one.
"Go, Mightyena!" shouts Carmine as she throws the pokeball, releasing a gray and black, canine-like Pokemon. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Mightyena, the Bite Pokemon, and the evolved form of Poochyena. They faithfully follow the orders of their leader. Prey targeted by Mightyena is never allowed to escape the outstanding teamwork of its pursuers." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone. It glared at Kirlia, making him nervous and lowering his attack strength.
"My Mightyena has the Intimidate ability." said Carmine. "Mightyena, use Howl!" Mightyena lets out a loud howl and its attack strength increases.
"My Kirlia's attack strength may have weakened, but we won't let that stop us!" said Clyde.
"You tell her, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Kirlia, Disarming Voice!" said Clyde. Kirlia lets out another yell and releases more pink soundwaves that hits Mightyena, dealing super effective damage.
"Mightyena, Take Down!" shouts Carmine. Mightyena charges at Kirlia and rams him, knocking him back; Mightyena flinches in pain from the recoil damage done by Take Down.
"Draining Kiss!" said Clyde. Kirlia leaps at Mightyena and kisses it, dealing super effective damage while draining its energy and healing his wounds. "Even with his attack strength weakened, his fairy type moves will still be strong against your dark type Mightyena."
"Mightyena, Fire Fang!" shouts Carmine. Mightyena charges at Kirlia while fire covered its fangs.
"Teleport!" said Clyde. Kirlia glows white and disappears, making Mightyena miss with its attack.
"Pokemon are capable of teleportation?!" asked Lisa.
"Some Pokemon are." replied Lincoln.
"Brother; please acquire a Pokemon capable of the move, Teleport, so that I may study it." said Lisa.
"As soon as I can find one I will." replied Lincoln. Mightyena looks around for Kirlia until he appeared in front of it, surprising it.
"Draining Kiss!" said Clyde. Kirlia grabs Mightyena by its head and he kisses it on the nose, draining the last of its stamina, healing more of his wounds, and knocking Mightyena out.
"You're doing great, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Clyde's, like, winning." said Leni.
"No surprise; me and Clyde spend most of our time training our Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"And judging by how bad Carmine's losing, she doesn't." said Lynn Jr. Carmine's teeth clenched and a vein was in her forehead before returning Mightyena to its pokeball; she puts it away and pulls out another one.
"I won't let you win! Poltchageist, go!" shouts Carmine, throwing Poltchageist's pokeball and releasing it.
"Kirlia, use Psybeam!" said Clyde. Kirlia fires another multicolored beam of energy from his hands and it hits Poltchageist, damaging it.
"Use Astonish!" shouts Carmine. Poltchageist flies at Kirlia and makes a scary face at him, surprising him, and dealing super effective damage, along with causing Kirlia to flinch. "Now use Stun Spore!" Poltchageist shakes its body and releases an orange powder onto Kirlia; he begins twitching and static electricity surrounds his body.
"Oh man; Kirlia's paralyzed." said Lincoln.
"Poltchageist too." said Clyde.
"What are you talking about?" asked Carmine. "My Poltchageist is just..." Carmine stopped mid-sentecne when she saw Poltchagiest twitching and static surrounding its body also. "What happened?!"
"Kirlia's Synchronize ability happened; any status condition an opposing Pokemon afflicts him with, the opposing Pokemon will get the same one." replied Clyde. "Kirlia, use Confusion!" Unfortunately, paralysis stops Kirlia from attacking.
"Poltchageist, use Mega Drain!" shouts Carmine. Poltchageist tries to do so, but paralysis stops it from attacking also.
"Kirlia, Psybeam!" said Clyde. Kirlia was able to fight through his paralysis and fires a multicolored beam of energy from his hands and it hits Poltchageist, damaging it.
"Astonish!" shouts Carmine. Poltchageist fights through its paralysis and flies at Kirlia, making a scary face at him and dealing super effective damage.
"Draining Kiss!" shouts Clyde. Kirlia fights through his paralyis again and kisses Poltchageist, dealing damage while draining some of its stamina and healing some of Kirlia's wounds.
"Poltchageist, Foul Play!" shouts Carmine. Poltachageist fights through its paralysis and grabs Kirlia; it throws him to the ground, damaging him.
"Kirlia, Disarming Voice!" said Clyde. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Kirlia.
"Astonish!" shouts Carmine. Poltchageist fights through its paralysis and makes a scary face at Kirlia, dealing super effective damage.
"Psybeam!" said Clyde. Kirlia fights through his confusion and fires a multicolored beam of energy at Poltchageist, hitting it; Poltchagiest begins to float around, dizzily.
"Mega Drain!" shouts Carmine. Confusion gets the better of Poltchageist, and it ends up knocking itself out.
"Great job, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Our Clyde won!" said Howard McBride.
"I'm so proud of him." said Harold McBride. Carmine drops to her knees with a stunned look on her face as she returns Poltchageist to its pokeball.
"Oh well; it's not like beating me was going to magically make another mask appear." said Carmine as she gets up while Clyde walks over to her, joined by Lincoln and Kieran. Carmine gives Clyde pokedollars. "Come on, Kiki; let's get our masks."
"Okay, Sis." replied Kieran as he and Kieran went to get their masks.
"Like I said before, we can always get masks at the festival." said Lincoln.
"Good to hear." said Clyde. A minute later, Carmine and Kieran return, each with a mask on their heads; Carmine's looked like a blue simian face with a pink-beaded headband and a blue visor over the eyes, while Kieran's looked like a fierce, green, beast face with gold horns.
"How's that? Look good, don't I?" asked Carmine before she winks at Lincoln.
"You'll look better with the mask on since it'll cover your face!" said Iono, making Carmine snarl.
"I-It's okay, Lincoln... You can just wear my mask." said Kieran.
"What?!" shouts Carmine. "No! I already said it's first come, first served! And besides, that's YOUR ogre mask! You've always loved that mask best!"
"Yeah, but..." Kieran started to say.
"Don't worry, Kieran." said Lincoln.
"We have plenty of cash for masks, and I just got more, courtesy of Carmine." said Clyde as he smirks, making Carmine frown.
"See? They said it was okay! Now let's get moving!" said Carmine before she runs off.
"S-Sorry, you two." said Kieran. "I know my sis seems kinda harsh, b-but she's not really all that bad..."
"I know what it's like to have a sister like that." said Lincoln.
"Hey!" Lori responds.
"It's great to hang out with someone I can relate to." said Kieran.
"Let's get going!" said Clyde. Lincoln and Kieran look at each other and smile before all three boys run off towards Kitakami Hall.
Lincoln and Clyde are about to go to the Festival of Masks. What things will they do their as the class trip continues?
