Battling the Three
After the Mask Retrieval Squad left Mossui Town, they head to an area called the Mossfell Confluence, and begin to train their Pokemon for their battle with the Loser Three. Lincoln notices one of Kieran's Pokemon was a large, blue, birdlike Pokemon with light purple feathers on its chest and a yellow beak.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Cramorant, the Gulp Pokemon. Cramorant instinctively swallow everything whole. They're at their most formidable when they're struggling to swallow overly large prey." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
Lincoln's Floragato and Pawmot got stronger, his Lycanroc learned Rock Slide, his Finizen learned Encore, his Monferno learned Torment, and his Tinkatuff learned Slam and Flash Cannon.
Also, while Floragato was training, he froze up and started to glow.
"Hey! Floragato's evolving!" said Lincoln. He and his friends watch as Floragato started to change before their eyes; when he finished, he had a big, four-pointed mask on his face with three green diamonds on it, his arms looked like poofy sleeves, a pink collar around his neck that looked like flower petals, a black and green cape that splits in two near the base of his back, blackish green legs and feet, and a four-petaled flower hanging from a hard-to-see stem attached to his mask.
"Awesome!" said Clyde. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly evolved Floragato.
"Meowscarada, the Magician Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Sprigatito. This Pokémon uses the reflective fur lining its cape to camouflage the stem of its flower, creating the illusion that the flower is floating." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"A magician Pokemon suits you, Lincoln; considering you like magic." said Clyde.
"And this says my Meowscarada learned Flower Trick after evolving." said Lincoln.
"Not sure if he'll help against Pokemon that could be part poison type." said Carmine.
"Don't ruin my cutie's moment!" said Iono.
"Even if what she said is true, I'm still happy he evolved." said Lincoln.
Clyde's Quaxwell, Kirlia, and Dachsbun got stronger; his Naclstack learned Rock Slide, his Litleo got stronger, and his Grotle learned Leech Seed.
During the training, Quaxwell, Litleo, and Grotle all began to glow.
"Now Quaxwell, Litleo, and Grotle are evolving!" said Clyde.
"Wow; three evolutions at once!" said Lincoln. Everyone watched as Quaxwell, Litleo, and Grotle all began to change; when the glowing stopped, Quaxwell had a more humanoid appearance, with dark blue feathers all over his body except his shoulders, and tail, which are light blue, three feathers on each of his forearms with three fingerlike feathers on the end of them, a yellow pointed beak, and bulbous yellow feet. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at the newly-evolved Quaxwell.
"Quaquaval, the Dancer Pokemon and the final evolved form of Quaxly. A single kick from a Quaquaval can send a truck rolling. This Pokémon uses its powerful legs to perform striking dances from far-off lands." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Cool! This says Quaquaval is part water and fighting, and he learned Aqua Step when he evolved." said Clyde.
Litleo now resembled an adult male lion with dark brown fur on its body with light brown legs and face, and an orange and yellow mane around his head. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at his newly-evolved Litleo.
"Pyroar, the Royal Pokemon and the evolved form of Litleo. The females of a pride work together to bring down prey. It's thanks to them that their pride doesn't starve." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
Grotle was now bigger with a green shell with a white rim that had a small tree and three stony extensions on it, brown legs and underbelly, and a green head with a stony extension on each side of it. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at his newly-evolved Grotle.
"Torterra, the Continent Pokemon and the final evolved form of Turtwig. Ancient people imagined that beneath the ground dwelt a gigantic Torterra." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"This says Torterra is part grass and ground, and he learned Earthquake when he evolved." said Clyde.
"Congratulations, buddy." said Lincoln.
"And Earthquake will help if any of the Loser Three are poison types." said Carmine.
Kieran's Yanmega learned Feint, his Gligar learned Slash and Screech, his Poliwrath got stronger, his Cramorant, who already knew Peck, Stockpile, Spit Up, Swallow, Water Gun, Fury Attack, Pluck, Dive, and Surf, learned Drill Peck, and his Dipplin learned Dragon Pulse.
Carmine's Mightyena learned Taunt, her Morpeko learned Torment, her Leavanny learned Fell Stinger and Helping Hand, her Ninetales simply got stronger, while her Sinistcha learned Hex and Rage Powder.
Once they felt their Pokemon were strong enough, they try to figure out which of the Loser Three they'll be taking on first.
"Which one is the closest to where we are?" asked Kieran. Lincoln brings up his map of the Kitakami region on his phone and looks at the locations the villagers pointed out to them.
"They all look to be more or less the same distance from where we are." said Lincoln.
"We should take on Munkidori first; since he's probably worn out from when I battled it." suggested Clyde.
"It might be fully-rested by now, so we should still be careful." said Lincoln.
"Let's head over to Wisteria Pond and look for it." said Carmine.
"We should use me and Clyde's Cyclizars to get there faster." said Lincoln.
"Good idea, cutie!" said Iono.
"I'll ride with Linky!" said Carmine as she wraps her arms around Lincoln in a hug.
"BAD IDEA, HUSSY!" said Iono.
Lincoln swaps his Lycanroc for his Cyclizar, while Clyde swaps his Dachsbun for his; after that, Lincoln and Carmine climb onto Lincoln's Cyclizar while Clyde and Kieran climb onto Clyde's.
"Hop on, Ogerpon." said Kieran as he holds out his hand to the group's new Pokemon friend; Ogerpon grabs it and is pulled up and set down behind Kieran.
"Let's go!" said Lincoln before Carmine wraps her arms around Lincoln's chest, making him blush and Iono growl.
"Keep your hands off Linky!" shouts Iono.
"What if I fall off while we're moving?" asked Carmine with a grin.
"I'll be okay with that!" said Iono, making Carmine stick her tongue out at her.
The Mask Retrieval Squad starts heading towards Wisteria Pond with determination on their faces.
They soon arrive at their destination and start to look around for the thieving Munkidori.
"Do you see it yet?" asked Carmine.
"No; we'll keep looking." said Lincoln.
"Wait, I think I see it." said Clyde as he points at an edge of Wisteria Pond where they see Munkidori, picking its nose.
"That's disgusting!" said Lola.
"Do you expect anything less from it?" asked Lincoln.
"Good point." said Lola.
"I wonder what its boogers are like." said Lana. Munkidori sees the group and gets up while energy surges through it.
"What's going on?" asked Kieran. They all watch as Munkidori starts to grow to a great size.
"How did it grow like that?!" asked Carmine.
"It's the size of a Titan Pokemon!" said Clyde.
"Maybe it was something it ate?" suggested Lincoln.
"Doesn't matter." said Kieran. "We came to get Ogerpon's mask back, and that's what we're gonna do!"
"You said it, Kiki!" said Carmine.
"Let's do this!" said Lincoln as he lets out his Tinkatuff, Clyde lets out his Pyroar, Kieran lets out his Gligar, and Carmine lets out her Ninetales. Munkidori glares at the group and lets out a loud yell.
"Bring it on you overgrown poop flinger!" exclaimed Lynn Jr.
"If you somehow acquire some of this Pokemon's fecal matter, would you mail it to me?" asked Lisa, making Kieran and Carmine shudder.
"Why would your sister want that stuff?!" asked Carmine.
"She has... unique interests." said Clyde.
"Tinkatuff, use Flash Cannon!" said Lincoln. Tinkatuff holds out an arm that wasn't holding her hammer and fires a silver beam of energy out of it and it hits Munkidori, damaging it. Munkidori holds out its hands and fires a multicolored beam of energy out of it and it hits Tinkatuff, but not doing much damage.
"Pyroar, use Work Up!" said Clyde. Pyroar becomes surrounded by a red aura and his attack and special attack strength increases. Munkidori runs at Pyroar and scratches him.
"Gligar, Acrobatics!" said Kieran. Gligar flies at Munkidori at multiple directions, striking it every time Gligar passes it. Munkidori fires another multicolored beam of energy at Gligar and hits it, damaging it; Gligar begins stumbling around.
"Oh man; Gligar's confused." said Kieran. "Snap out of it, Gligar!" Gligar shakes its head and snaps itself out of its confusion.
"Ninetales, Incinerate!" said Carmine. Ninetales leaps up and releases a beam of fire out of its mouth; it hits Munkidori, dealing damage. Munkidori leaps at Ninetales while one of its hands glowed purple and it jabs Ninetales with it, damaging it; it turned purple under Ninetales eyes. "Ninetales has been poisoned!" Ninetales coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Tinkatuff, use Brutal Swing!" said Lincoln. Tinkatuff swings her hammer while dark energy surrounds it and hits Munkidori, dealing super effective damage. "Hey; dark moves work on Munkidori, so it must be either a psychic or ghost or part of one of those types." Munkidori leaps at Tinkatuff while its hand glowed purple and jabs Tinkatuff with it, but it didn't have any effect.
"Tinkatuff is part steel, you big ape!" said Carmine.
"Pyroar, Fire Fang!" said Clyde. Pyroar leaps at Munkidori while fire surrounded his fangs and bites Munkidori, dealing major damage, thanks to his attack strength being increased by Work Up, as well as Pyroar's Rivalry ability. Munkidori's eyes glowed blue; Pyroar gets lifted up and slammed onto the ground.
"Gligar, Aerial Ace!" said Kieran. Gligar flies at Munkidori while white streaks of energy surrounds its body and it rams Munkidori, dealing damage. Munkidori jabs Gligar with one of his hands that was glowing purple, but it didn't do much damage.
"Ninetales, Flamethrower!" said Carmine. Ninetales unleashes a stream of fire from its mouth and it hits Munkidori, hitting it; part of its fur catches fire. "Ha! You're burned, banana breath!" Munkidori runs at Ninetales and scratches it, but not dealing much damage due to burn weakening its strength. Ninetales coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Use Brutal Swing again!" said Lincoln. Tinkatuff runs at Munkidori while dark energy surrounds her hammer and she hits Munkidori with it, dealing super effective damage. Munkidori fires a multicolored beam of energy at her and hits her, but not dealing much damage. Munkidori takes damage from its burn and drops to one knee.
"Pyroar, Headbutt!" said Clyde. Pyroar charges at Munkidori and rams his head into its gut; Munkidori collapses onto the ground.
"It's weak enough!" said Kieran. Clyde takes out an Ultra Ball and throws it at Munkidori, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around several times until it clicked.
"Way to go, Clyde!" cheered Lincoln. Munkidori's Ultra Ball vanishes and gets transported to storage.
"I'll make sure Munkidori doesn't cause trouble ever again." said Clyde.
"You make sure to be a positive role model to Munkidori, Clyde." said Harold.
"Maybe your manners and good behavior will rub off on Munkidori." said Howard.
"I hope so." said Clyde. A notification appeared on Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as Clyde looks at his Rotom Phone's screen.
"It's Munkidori's information." said Clyde. "This says it's a boy, he's part poison and psychic, he knows Scratch, Confusion, Fake Out, Flatter, Helping Hand, Psybeam, Clear Smog, and Poison Jab; he has the Toxic Chain ability which allows him to poison just about any Pokemon he hits with a move."
Ogerpon starts running over to where Munkidori stood and stops in front of a blue mask with a light blue feminine face with wavy blue hair framing it.
"That must be the mask that Munkidori took." said Lincoln.
"I heard someone refer to this one as the Wellspring Mask at Kitakami Hall once." said Kieran.
"That mask is, totes, beautiful." said Leni.
"Kieran and Carmine's ancestor really does good work." said Lincoln.
"That's one down." said Carmine.
"Let's go to Paradise Barrens." said Kieran. They all then cure Carmine's Ninetales of its poison, return their Pokemon to their pokeballs, hop back on Lincoln and Clyde's Cyclizars, and head off towards the location of Okidogi.
They soon arrive at the barren area and start looking around for their target; they soon find it standing around, scratching its rear.
"Are all those thieves so disgusting?!" asked Lola.
"If it wasn't for the fact that they were bad, I would like them." said Lana.
"Hey, mutt!" shouts Carmine, getting Okidogi's attention. "Give Ogeron her mask back or else!" Okidogi growls before it too starts to grow.
"Not this again!" said Clyde.
"Size isn't everything, Clyde." said Lincoln. "Our battle with Munkidori and those Titan Pokemon we battled before proved that."
"Yeah!" said Kieran.
"I'll send out Tinkatuff again in case this thief is part poison like Munkidori." said Lincoln as he lets out his fairy/steel type again. Clyde takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing his Kirlia; Kieran tosses a pokeball, letting out his Yanmega; and Carmine tosses a pokeball, letting out her Sinistcha.
Lincoln notices the chain around Okidogi's neck that looked similar to the one that Munkidori had around its head.
"Okidogi could have the Toxic Chain ability like Munkidori had, so we should be careful." said Lincoln. "Tinkatuff, use Brutal Swing!" Tinkatuff swings her hammer while it was coated in dark energy at Okidogi and whacks it across the face, but with very little effect.
"I guess it is part fighting type." said Clyde. Okidogi thrusts a palm at Tinkatuff, striking her chest, making her skid back a bit; she starts to twitch.
"That must've been Force Palm!" said Lincoln. "My Tinkatuff is paralyzed."
"Since Okidogi is part fighting and possibly part poison; psychic type attacks should be very effective against it!" said Clyde. "Kirlia, use Psybeam!" Kirlia fires a beam of multicolored psychic energy at Okidogi, hitting it, and dealing lots of super effective damage to it; it starts to stumble around.
"I think it's confused!" said Kieran. Okidogi manages to fight through its confusion and lunges at Kirlia with its jaws open and fangs coated in poison.
"Kirlia, use Teleport!" said Clyde. Kirlia vanishes right before Okidogi could bite down on him.
"Yanmega, use Air Slash!" said Kieran. Yanmega flaps its wings, releasing a blade of air that hits Okidogi, dealing super effective damage. Okidogi reacts by biting down on Yanmega with poison-coated fangs, dealing damage; Yanmega started to look ill.
"Yanmega's poisoned!" said Lincoln.
"No one messes with Kiki's Pokemon but me!" said Carmine. "Sinistcha, use Hex!" Sinistcha releases an orb of black energy that had a red eye in the center of it that hits Okidogi; it reacts by biting down on Sinistcha, dealing damage, and poisoning it.
"That attack looked wicked." said Lucy.
"Tinkatuff, use Slam!" said Lincoln. Tinkatuff tries to do so, but her paralysis stops her; Okidogi laughs before it hits her with another Force Palm attack.
"You can't do that to my friend's Pokemon!" said Clyde. "Kirlia, use Psybeam!" Kirlia hits Okidogi with another beam of psychic energy that deals a lot of super effective damage to it, making it drop to one knee; it tries to attack, but confusion kicks in, making it trip and crash into a rock; it then falls flat on its face.
"Looks weak enough now!" said Carmine.
"You want this one, buddy?" Clyde asked Lincoln.
"Sure!" said Lincoln as he pulls out an empty Ultra Ball and tosses it at Okidogi, hitting it, and sucking it in; the Ultra Ball wiggles a few times before it clicks.
"You did it, cutie!" said Iono. A notification appears on Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I just received Okidogi's information." said Lincoln. "Okidogi's a boy, he's part fighting and part poison, he knows Bite, Low Kick, Bulk Up, Howl, Poison Fang, Force Palm, and Counter; and like I figured, he had the Toxic Chain ability like Munkidori."
"Where's the mask he took?" asked Carmine. The four see Ogerpon picking up a gray stone mask with a rectangular face with a wide jaw and blue whiskers.
"That's called the Cornerstone Mask." said Kieran.
"That mask is cool!" said Lana.
"That's two masks." said Carmine.
"One to go." said Kieran. Lincoln uses a Paralyze Heal to cure his Tinkatuff of her paralysis; he then uses his Rotom Phone to swap her for Lycanroc. Everyone then climbs onto Lincoln and Clyde's Cyclizars and head up to Oni Mountain.
They find a path nearby that leads to the Infernal Pass and ride up it to the top where they soon find Fezandipiti flying in place who notices the group.
"Hey, you flying feather duster!" said Carmine. "Give Ogerpon's mask back or we'll do to you what we did to your friends!"
Fezandipiti looks at the four trainers and quickly flies into a nearby cave opening.
"It's getting away!" said Kieran.
"Not if we have anything to say about it!" said Lincoln as they all ride after it in pursuit.
As they all ride across the cave's stone bridges while being careful not to fall off them, Lincoln sees the different kinds of Pokemon that inhabit it; such as a brown Pokemon with a pig snout, a small black Pokemon wearing a yellow, cone-shaped cloak with orange trim, and a Pokemon that looked like a rock with a dome head, long diamond-shaped ears, and jewels embedded in it.
They soon exit the cave to see a large cliff ahead of them and Fezandipiti hovering over it; directly under the thieving Pokemon was a red and yellow mask with a fiery mane on it, and a fierce, determined face.
"The last mask!" said Carmine.
"You got nowhere left to go, Fezandipiti!" said Clyde.
"Give Ogerpon her mask back!" said Kieran.
"What type do you think it is?" asked Lincoln.
"You did say it looked it's at least part flying type." said Carmine. The Mask Retrieval Squad each pull out a pokeball.
"Lycanroc, go!" said Lincoln, throwing Lycanroc's pokeball and releasing her.
"Naclstack, go!" said Clyde, throwing Naclstack's pokeball and releasing her.
"Go, Cramorant!" said Kieran, throwing Cramorant's pokeball and releasing it.
"Come out, Morpeko!" said Carmine, throwing Morpeko's pokeball and releasing it.
"Lycanroc, use Rock Slide!" said Lincoln. Lycanroc summons up a bunch of rocks and showers them onto Fezandipiti, dealing damage. "That didn't look like it was super effective against Fezandipiti."
"Guess it wasn't a flying type after all." said Clyde. Fezandipiti lets out a yell, releasing pink, heart-shaped soundwaves at Lycanroc, hitting him.
"That looked like Disarming Voice." said Lincoln.
"Naclstack, use Rock Slide!" Multiple gray rocks appear in front of Naclstack and she launches them at Fezandipiti, hitting it, and dealing damage. Fezandipiti flies at Naclstack and kicks her twice, dealing super effective damage.
"Cramorant, use Dive!" said Kieran. A pool of water appears in front of Cramorant and it dives into it; Fezandipiti looks around for Cramorant.
"How did Cramorant turn solid ground into water?!" asked Lisa.
"Morpeko, use Thunder Shock!" said Carmine. Morpeko releases electricity from its body and it hits Fezandipiti, dealing damage. Fezandipiti flies at Morpeko and kicks it twice, dealing super effective damage; Morpeko started to look ill.
"Morpeko's poisoned!" said Kieran.
"How?" asked Carmine. Lincoln notices the same chain that Munkidori and Okidogi had around Fezandipiti's waist.
"It must have Toxic Chain also." said Lincoln.
"We really should be careful now.' said Clyde.
"Lycanroc, use Rock Tomb!" said Lincoln. Lycanroc drops more rocks onto Fezandipiti, damaging it, and lowering its speed.
"Naclstack, Smack Down!" said Clyde. Naclstack forms a ball of gold energy and launches it at Fezandipiti, hitting it, and dealing damage. Fezandipiti flies at Naclstack and jabs its beak against it, but not dealing much damage. A pool of water appears below Fezandipiti; Cramorant flies up from it, and rams into Fezandipiti; it strikes back by hitting Cramorant with one of its wings, knocking it back.
"This Pokemon is tough!" said Carmine.
"We won't give up!" said Kieran.
Lincoln and Lycanroc glare harshly at Fezandipiti with fists and teeth clenched.
"You and your friends stole Ogerpon's masks, you took her only friend from her, and condemned her to over a century of loneliness!" shouts Lincoln as some sort of strange white aura covers him and Lycanroc; surprising everyone else.
"What's going on with Lincoln?" asked Kieran.
"I don't know." said Clyde. "I've never seen this before." Lincoln's family and Iono were watching Lincoln with stunned shock.
"Linky?" Leni and Iono say in unison.
"What's going on with him?" asked Lynn Sr with concern.
"I... will not... let you... get away with what... you... DID!" shouts Lincoln as a massive aura of energy erupts from him and Lycanroc.
"Whoa!" shouts Kieran.
"Hey, what's going on with Lycanroc?!" asked Carmine. Everyone looks to see some of the fur on Lycanroc's head suddenly turn white, as well as his eyes turning from green to blue
'What's going on?' Lincoln was thinking to himself. He could still see, but he felt strange; he saw Fezandipiti, but it looked a bit closer, and higher up than before; it was as if he saw everything from Lycanroc's point of view right now.
"Lincoln, are you okay?" asked Clyde.
Lincoln didn't know what was going on with him, but he knew that he had a battle to win, so he pressed on.
"LYCANROC, USE ACCELEROCK!" shouts Lincoln, making a powerful surge of energy erupt from Lycanroc that created a shockwave that forced everyone to cover their eyes while Fezandipiti look at Lincoln and Lycanroc with fear; Lycanroc runs full force at the thieving Pokemon and rams it in the gut so hard it knocks the wind out of it and sends it flying into a nearby cliff wall where Fezandipiti passes out.
'Whoa!' Lincoln says to himself. 'Why did it feel like I attacked Fezandipiti?'
The white aura that surrounded Lincoln and Lycanroc disappears,with the color of the fur on Lycanroc's head, and his eyes, returning to normal, and the two collapsed as they both struggle to catch their breaths. Lincoln noticed he can see Lycanroc now and the weird feeling he got had faded.
"Lincoln!" said Clyde, Kieran, and Carmine as they run to their friend to check on him.
"Are you okay, buddy?!" asked Clyde.
"What did you do?" asked Kieran.
"Do you need mouth-to-mouth?" asked Carmine with a grin, making Lincoln blush.
"DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" said Iono, making Lincoln's sisters giggle. Carmine notices that Fezandipiti was still stunned and decides to take the opportunity to grab an Ultra Ball from her pocket and throws it at Fezandipiti, hitting it, and sucking it in; the Ultra Ball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Fezandipiti!" said Carmine.
"Make sure it stays out of trouble." said Clyde.
"I'll keep it in line like I do with Kiki." said Carmine.
"What's Fezandipiti like?" asked Kieran. Lincoln gets up and holds his Rotom Phone to Carmine's Ultra Ball and gets the Pokemon's information.
"This says that Fezandipiti's a boy, he's part fairy and part poison, he knows Double Kick, Peck, Poison Gas, Disarming Voice, Quick Attack, Attract, Wing Attack, and Cross Poison; and just like I figured, he has the Toxic Chain ability." said Lincoln.
Ogerpon walks over to the last mask and picks it up; she begins hopping up and down, happily.
"That's the Hearthflame Mask." said Kieran.
"We got all three masks back!" said Lincoln.
"We're happy for you, Ogerpon." said Kieran. Ogerpon runs to Kieran and hugs him, surprising him; he then hugs Ogerpon back.
"Mission accomplished, everyone!" said Carmine.
"Let's get back to Mossui Town." said Lincoln.
"Are you sure you're okay, buddy?" asked Clyde.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. The group returns their Pokemon to their pokeballs, then starts to make their way back to town; as they do, Lincoln was trying to figure out the strange occurence that happened during the battle with Fezandipiti.
'What happened to me?' Lincoln asked himself.
The Mask Retrieval Squad have gotten all three of Ogerpon's masks back, as well as captured all three of the Loser Three. What will Lincoln and Clyde do now as their class trip continues?
