Author Notes

And here it is, the second chapter of Diana's special. I don't know if it will be the last one because, according to the plan I have in my mind, there are a few more chapters needed to properly end the story. So, it depends on you and your support. Maybe I can make it into a separate fanfic, or not it's all in your hands. Since there is no more to say, I hope you like it.

Any constructive review is really appreciated.

Chapter XVI

Conventus

She was regaining consciousness and as the darkness created by her eyelids began to fade, a white ceiling started taking shape in her pupils, she realized she had made a mistake.

It was the first time she had fainted in public, well, public as one could say, since it was too early for most of the Luna Nova students to be awake. However, she knew that at least someone had seen her and that was not good at all.

Looking around, Diana noticed she was in a small infirmary bed; it was covered with a curtain from side to side, giving her the privacy she truly appreciated. When she tried to raise her hand to scratch her eyes, she noticed there was something on her wrist an IV line. Startled, she followed the tube and saw that they were administering saline.

'Was I really that weak?'

'God, what's happening to me?'

Lying back down, she let out a sigh as she waited for the doctor to realize she had woken up. The wait didn't take long, as Mrs. Wong, being a thorough professional, kept a close eye on her patients.

"Ah, Diana, you're awake, how do you feel?" she said as she approached and began to give her a quick check-up.

"Numb and dizzy," Diana replied, watching the lady jot something down in her report. "It's rare to see you in the infirmary, Miss Diana. You can't imagine the surprise I had when I saw that it was you they were bringing in unconscious through the door." Diana, feeling an internal embarrassment, did nothing but close her eyes and take a deep breath.

"Anything else you want to report?" Shaking her head and releasing the breath she was holding, she looked at the doctor in anticipation of her continuing. "Well, everything seems normal with the quick check, however, you won't be able to leave the infirmary until the IV bag is empty, so rest, Miss Diana."

Nodding and thinking about all the explanations she would have to give to those who saw her in that state, she felt the weight on her eyelids succumbing to sleep again.

The sun was peeking through the windows of the infirmary, and as a ray of light caressed her cheek, Diana opened her eyes realizing she had managed to sleep without any nightmare tormenting her. Immediately reasoning the reasons why this had happened, she considered several factors, among them one that stood out from the others was that the place reminded her of her mother. From the smell of disinfectant to the paleness of the ceiling, it made her rewind to the past, generating a peace that she no longer found in her day-to-day life and that she probably would never find if things continued this way.

Sitting on the edge of the bed and realizing that not a drop of the liquid was left, she expertly removed the needle and, putting on her shoes that were next to her bed, pulled back the small curtain that gave her privacy. Looking around, she noticed she was the only one in the rest room, so without having to start giving excuses to the first person who saw her coming out of one of those beds, she headed to the doctor's desk.

As she approached, she noticed that the lady was talking to someone else; it was a tall girl, with black hair tied back in a long ponytail that reached her waist, whose uniform revealed that she was a Luna Nova student. Her voice, though energetic, did not suggest that she was very extroverted. Wanting to leave the place as quickly as possible, she cleared her throat as she approached the doctor, knowing that if she stayed longer in that place, the rumors around the school would increase exaggeratedly, causing her more problems than she already had.

The two people, upon noticing the presence of the prodigy witch, turned to look at her and she was immediately greeted with an angelic face, beautified by a pair of gray irises that only accentuated the girl's mysticism.

"Ah, I see you're well," she said, now noticing that her tone was soft and striking.

The doctor, understanding that the comment had taken Diana by surprise, as her gaze was quite confused, said, "She's the girl who brought you here when you fainted."

"It's good that it was nothing serious. I got quite a scare when I saw you collapsing in front of me," said the mysterious girl as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Diana, who after the brief shock hadn't been able to react, responded, "Thank you for helping me, uh..."

"Elise... Elise Hofmann," she said as she extended her hand cordially. Diana, accepting the gesture, repeated, "Thank you for helping me, Elise. I owe you one."

"No problem, and as for the debt, don't worry about it. It's not like I wasn't going to help seeing you lying on the ground." Diana, who obviously would not accept a no as an answer, narrowed her eyes and replied, "No way, this is something I must repay, so ask for anything you want; I'll do my best to get it for you." The girl, who was a bit taken aback, just nodded her head.

"Well, nevertheless, I have to apologize because I can't give you anything right now, as due to this morning's mishap I've lost a lot of time, so find me whenever you want." Again, the girl said no words, she was astounded by the language and manners of the blue-eyed witch, and without saying a word, nodded again. Diana, taking this as the end of the interaction with the girl, looked at Dr. Wong and continued, "Dr. Wong, do you need anything else from me, or may I leave?"

The elder, who was just smiling at the exchange between the young witches, looked directly at Diana and spoke, "No, you can go now, Miss Diana."

Diana, internally celebrating that she could now leave the place, gave a courteous bow and, turning around, headed towards the door, not without giving one last quick glance back at the black-haired girl who just continued to watch her.

"Eli..., Eli"

"Elise! Are you okay?"

Several minutes had passed since Diana had left the infirmary, and for the poor girl, it had felt like a hurricane had passed through and turned her head upside down.

'That girl really was something else,' she thought while still hearing a voice in the back of her mind. When she felt a slight push on her shoulder, she realized she had been in her own world for too long.

Turning to look at the only person who was still in the same place as her, she noticed a curious look on her face and asking again said, "Are you okay?" The girl with black hair just nodded, and not to leave it at just that signal, she spoke, "Yes, Aunt Wong, I'm fine."

The elder, accepting the young German girl's response, looked at the report she was about to finish and said, "She's an amazing girl, isn't she?" Eli, who just turned to look at her with a confused expression, waited for her aunt to continue, "I mean Diana," she heard her say.

Reflecting a bit on the comment, she responded, "Yes, I had only heard the rumors, and it seems that most of them are true," she said, looking again at the door through which the girl had exited.

"But that burden seems to be affecting her," said the elder in a whisper that Eli definitely heard.

"Alright, little Lisel, it's time for you to go to class," the girl, turning to look again with disdain in her voice, reproached, "But auntie, you promised me you'd teach me some magical medicine today."

"No buts, it will be for another day, shoo shoo, the last thing I need is trouble with those old witches, so hurry up." The girl, who sighed reluctantly, headed towards the door and, giving one last look now at the bed from which Diana had risen, made her way to her respective classroom.
