It was dawn and Hiccup had a feeling. He had been waiting for days and there had been no raids, but today felt different. A smile plastered on his face as he walked around his room gathering items. Today was the day. He could feel it. A raid would happen and he would finally be free. It was only a matter of time. As he packed he whistled a tune. Today was going to be a great day.

It was not in fact a great day.

He had been chased and beaten by Snotlout. He fell into a puddle of mud. Ripped his tunic and lastly had been made fun of by some rando and then laughed at by the whole village.

He was so tired. Today sucked. His luck was nonexistent and there hadn't been a raid in three days.

With the exception of unfortunate events it had been too peaceful and he hated it.

He walked up the trail to his home. His luck could not get any worse than this.

The walk home was silent. Only cicadas chirping in the forest and grumbling of dragons….

Wait, dragons.

Hiccup looked up in the trees and saw a pair of eyes.

A dragon.

A nightmare at that and it was pissed. It lit itself on fire and screeched.

Lunging from the trees it began its chase, Hiccup did the only thing he could think of, run.

He ran into the forest and away from his home.

The sky lit up with fire and ember. Orange engulfing the stars.

Screeching echoed in the sky.

It was finally happening.

A raid.
