"Hey, Tutor-Mom," Brooke greeted as she met her friend. "How are we doing today?"
"Oh, exhausted," Haley chuckled, rubbing her forehead. "Nathan and I were up all night..." She paused and noticed Brooke's lips curling into a cheeky smile.
"You were up all night..."
"We were up all night talking about everything," Haley replied, and Brooke slumped her shoulders, letting out a sigh.
"I guess pregnancy means no more Naley sex for a while."
"Brooke!" Haley whisper-exclaimed looking around to make sure no one had heard.
"What? you've obviously had sex, Haley." She gestured to the small bump extruding from her friend's stomach. "I'm living vicariously through you. I haven't had sex in so long; I've been Brooking myself just to feel less lonely!"
"Oh god," Haley said, burying her head in her hand. "Where's your filter?"
"Okay, prude!" Brooke shot back.
Haley burst into laughter and wrapped an arm around Brooke's shoulders as they continued to class.
"Hey," Lucas greeted, brown paper bag in hand as he joined his brother and best friend at the table. "Got you lunch from the café." He handed them both their bags.
"Ahh, thank you! I completely blanked on food!" Haley beamed as she opened her bag.
"Hales, you gotta stop doing that!" Nathan groaned. "You are pregnant, you know." Haley rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at him before leaning forward to kiss him tenderly.
"Hey!" a grumpy voice interrupted. "No PDA isn't void to married and pregnant!" Whitey called from a classroom window. The three Scotts exchanged amused glances and laughed.
"Sorry!" Haley called back before digging into her sandwich bag. She moaned at the first bite, then suddenly stopped chewing. "Luke, what's in this?"
"Uh, tuna, celery, tomatoes..."
"Tomatoes?"
"Yeah, you love tomatoes."
"I'm gonna be sick!" Haley exclaimed, jumping out of her chair and running to the nearest bathroom.
"Oh, Haley," Nathan called after her, standing up. Lucas looked at him, puzzled. "Pregnancy thing. She can't stand tomato anything or she throws up."
"Oh, sorry."
"Don't worry, man; you didn't know. I should probably—" he gestured with his thumb in the direction Haley had run off.
"Yeah, of course. Tell her I'm sorry." Nathan nodded and left, walking quickly, leaving Luke alone at the table.
"You alright?" Nathan asked as he rushed into the girls' bathroom.
"Yeah, no, I'm fine. Stupid pregnancy." Haley leaned back from the toilet and sat against the cubicle wall as Nathan gently traced small circles on her back. The bell rang, signaling the end of their lunch break, and Nathan and Haley shared a look.
"You wanna skip?" he suggested, helping her to her feet.
"Oh, we can't! We've only got like five months till graduation,"
"Do you hear yourself?" he chuckled. She rolled her eyes and dried her hands. "C'mon. In five months, we'll have triple the responsibility of anyone else here. Let's just go, okay?"
She contemplated, gazing into his excited cobalt eyes. Damn it, he really could make her do anything. "Fine," she finally agreed, pulling him into a side hug as they walked out of the bathroom. "But we have to stop by the library and study for at least half an hour."
It was now his turn to roll his eyes. "Only if you take a nap when we get home. You need to rest."
"Trust me, babe, there is nothing I want to do more."
"Great. Then we have a deal." They shook on it. "Once Tutor Girl, always Tutor Girl," he sighed, stuffing his hand into his pocket.
"Actually, I'm going by Tutor Mom now," Haley giggled.
"Oh, Tutor Mom. I like it." He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "You are going to be an amazing mom, Haley James." His hand gently caressed her small bump.
"Thank you, baby." She looked at his lips and pulled him by his shirt to meet hers, creating the familiar electric spark between them.
He smiled softly as he watched her sleep. Her hand was protectively perched on her stomach. God, it was crazy. In 5 months they were going to have a kid. He was going to be a dad. He couldn't have a better partner, though. Haley was born to be a mother. She was so beautifully kind-hearted and protective, she was just perfect. And watching her like this, looking so small, filled his heart with joy at the life they had made together.
He gently stroked her hair, admiring her beauty.
"Hey," She said tiredly, yawning.
"Hey you," He responded, pulling her onto his chest. "Good nap?"
"Oh, the best. How long was I out?"
"About an hour?"
"You should've woken me up,"
"You just looked so peaceful," Nathan said, making her smile.
"Well now I'm up, what do you wanna do?" She perked up, lifting her head to look into his eyes. She gently began tracing circles on his chest seductively.
"Haley," He chuckled.
"Yeah?" She answered, her hand slowly moving down from his chest to his lower stomach, making his breath hitch.
"It's 2:30 in the afternoon."
"So everyone is busy. We could be too," She slipped her tongue into his mouth, pulling him back and moving so she was straddling him. "Unless you have other things to do,"
"I,"
Haley went pale and leaped out of the bed before he could get another word out, running to the bathroom.
"Oh, baby," Nathan whispered to himself, sighing and throwing his legs over the side to go to her. "Why don't we just watch a movie or something?" He suggested, rubbing her back as she bent over the toilet.
She breathed out deeply and put her hand on her head, eyes closed. "Yeah." She cleared her throat and stood up with Nathan's help. "That sounds nice."
