Sweet and Dark Heart: Chapter 10
"Hey dummy, you actually showed up on time…" Natsuki said as she crossed her arms as John sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
"Well…I admit that being punctual is what I like to do…but I was also a bit worried about you snapping at me if I was even a minute late…" John said as Natsuki stepped closer and leaned down.
"You know…I might be scary sometimes but I wouldn't have gotten that mad at you. Anyways, let's get some ingredients for these cupcakes!" Natsuki said as her gaze lingered on John for a second longer than she intended.
'He's so amazing…the way that his brown hair, short and simple, sways in the wind…the way he walks with his slender frame…it's nearly intoxicating. Ugh, but I gotta get a grip on myself and not seem too obsessed…no matter how much I want to make him mine.' Natsuki thought to herself.
After the two chatted and got the ingredients for the cupcakes and the frosting, John found himself really at ease with Natsuki. Considering the massive woman is a lover of manga, anime, video games and baking like John, the two really had a lot in common to go on about.
Before the two knew it, it was a bit after 10 A.M. and it was time to head to a local farmers' market. After John and Natuski walked for about thirty minutes to reach the place, they were there. John had never been to a farmers' market before but he had a general idea of what it'd be like, and he was right. The farmers' market had an abundance of stalls that are open, with fruits, vegetables, eggs and butter all separated and nearly organized. John turned to Natuski, whose brow was furrowed due to her focus on which stall would be best to go to.
"Okay…let's go to that stall over there! His eggs and butter look good!" Natsuki said.
Natsuki bought enough eggs and butter which were in the vendor's fridge to be enough for the three hundred cupcakes that they need to make for the school club festival. The two carried the eggs, butter and other ingredients that they had picked up earlier back to Natsuki's house, reaching at a few minutes past 11 A.M. right as it begins to look cloudy. Natsuki put the cupcakes ingredients in her pantry while the eggs and butter went into the fridge. Pleased with herself but most importantly, happy that she got to spend time with John outside of the Literature Club; the massive woman lets out a happy huff.
"Nice, we got all the ingredients! I thought this would be an all day thing, you know?" John asked as Natsuki pouted.
"Hmph! I'm glad we got everything we needed, but are you saying spending time with me was that bad, dummy?" Natsuki asked.
John immediately became flustered and gasped, waving his hands quickly.
"N-no! I enjoyed spending time with you a lot! It's just…I just thought you'd be like how you are at the Literature Club; you know, all…aloof." John said as Natsuki huffed and crossed her arms.
"Just because I'm a tsundere doesn't mean I'm like that all the time! Hmph!" Natsuki said as John chuckled.
'Hearing that laugh of his is so amazing. Spending just a few hours with him and hearing his laugh and smile as he opened up to me…it was intoxicating. I want to see if I can have him stay over for at least a few hours…' Natsuki thought to herself.
"Well, fair enough but today was cool; it was nice to hang out with someone out of school, the others, you know, Sayori, Monika and Yuri, are my friends but they're the only people I really talk with…uhm…would you like to be my friend too…?" John asked with the vulnerability being really prevalent for the young man.
'He wants to be my friend…? Yes…yes this is just what I want…this is EXACTLY what I want. To make him mine and mine one day….but yeah, I'll settle for being just friends first…gotta be nonchalant about it.' Natsuki said as she huffed.
"Yeah…I guess I'll be your friend…" Natsuki said as she crossed her arms and looked down at John, but a faint smile showed on her face.
"R-really? I'm…I'm really glad to hear that!" John said as in a moment of relief, he hugged Natsuki.
Natsuki initially stiffened up, not used to affection, especially from someone she's obsessed with. Natsuki returned the embrace and due to her 6'11" stature, rested her chin on top of John's head, making him giggle. Natsuki let out a happy huff from this, hearing that the man of her affection was so happy made her heart race. It made her want to keep him with her forever, never to see or talk to anyone else but her. After a few seconds, the two broke from the embrace, much to Natsuki's disappointment.
"Hmph! You're lucky that we're friends now, not many people can hug me since I'm so big! Since we got all the stuff we need for the ingredients, I guess since you're here already then you can hang out for a bit." Natsuki said as she maintained her nonchalance.
John was pleasantly surprised to hear this, after all, the only person he hanged out with after school on occasion was Sayori since Yuri tended to be busy studying and Monika would be busy doing other things. Plus, considering Sayori doesn't really read manga and doesn't watch anime at all and barely plays video games, the two got along but really didn't share a lot of common interests at all which sometimes bummed him out. Natsuki noticed John's excitement and couldn't help but smile.
