Episode 5: Backstabbers Ahoy

"Last time, on Total Drama Revenge of the Island! Eleven campers went on a scavenger hunt that was spoo~ky~! And very, very, painful!"

"And just when we thought it couldn't get any weirder, Arachna-Izzy showed up to do an eight-legged tap dance for a captive audience."

"In the end, Beardo left his teammates behind, and got himself booted off the island."

"Hey, it's my show. I can do what I want. Watch," Chris said as the montage ended to show him standing on the Dock of Shame next to Chef holding a sleeping and pajama-clad Dakota. The host snapped his fingers, and Chef hurled Dakota into the water.

Dakota was quick to wake up and resurface with a gasp. "Where am I?" she wondered until she saw three piranhas resurfacing and surrounding her.

As Dakota got attacked by them off screen, Chris continued his recapping. "Who will ride the Hurl of Shame next? How many times can I laugh at them before then? Find out right now, on Total! Drama! Revenge of the Island!"

(Theme Song)

A shot of the morning sun opened the episode, a flock of geese flying across the sky in formation in the distance. The scene cut to the boys of the Rat cabin, the camera angled to show all three sound asleep in their beds – Tyler and Noah on top, and Alejandro sleeping below Noah.

The shot cut in close to Noah as he began to murmur in his sleep. "Like there was any doubt that I'd get my college diploma before graduating from high school," he began happily before suddenly stiffening up. "Wait, is that?...wait...why...no! No! NO!" Noah bolted awake with a start, screaming and flailing and tumbling off his bed with his sheet and landing on the floor with a thud.

"What is it now?" Alejandro asked groggily as he sat up.

"I think he was having a nightmare," Tyler answered plainly.

"Doesn't he have enough of those?" Alejandro asked dryly.

"You'd be having them if a shark was hunting you down for no reason," Noah told them, now on his feet but somewhat tangled up in his bedding. "Especially one that got mutated."

"Dude, that's nothing to worry about," Tyler replied, now sitting on the edge of his bed. "You just gotta show that shark who's boss!" He hopped off to the floor, then started getting dressed.

Alejandro watched the two boys converse, then rolled his eyes secretly.

Confessional: Alejandro

"Noah is a worthy ally to have on the team," Alejandro told the outhouse camera, "but if he's going to keep interrupting my sleep with his nightmares, then he's someone that should go home sooner rather than later. Fortunately, Beardo's not around to make those noises anymore."

Confessional: Tyler

"I was in the middle of a great dream where I bought a house made out of gold medallions," Tyler confessed. "I don't have anything against Noah, even if he's not the most social guy around, but he needs to get the shark out of his head."

Confessional: Noah

"Don't call me a Chicken Little just 'cause I have nightmares about Fang," Noah mused in the confessional. "It's natural, and we already have a cowardly dog on our team, also known as Shawn."

Confessionals End

The scene cut outside the Maggots' cabin, the voice of Mike rising up over it as he said "Oh, all right guys, settle down." As he spoke, the shot cut inside to show Cameron sitting in his cocoon bag and taking notes while Mike stood on top of his bed and gasped into Svetlana.

"Stick the landing, Svetlana. Practice makes perfect ten, hi-yah," Svetlana said and front flipped off the bed and into the floor with a thud, causing Cameron to wince.

Mike was now back to sleeping until he inhaled into Vito. "You're goin' down, Twinkle Toes."

Vito then switched to Chester. "I've had it with you punks!" he ranted.

"Fascinating!" Cameron commented with interest and wrote into his notepad.

Confessional: Cameron

"So far, I've documented three separate personalities within Mike," Cameron confessed. "He's like a walking, talking psychology textbook. And it's a total page turner!"

Confessional Ends

The scene moved to Dawn collecting some stray small logs at the campfire and putting them in her bag when Shawn walked over. "Hey Dawn. Do you need help with the wood chopping?" the conspiracy nut offered and grabbed a log.

"You don't have to help just because you feel like an outsider among us," Dawn told him.

"What?!" Shawn asked in shock. "Who told you that?! An alien?!"

"It's right there in your aura. Between your trust issues and your need to protect your own life from harm constantly," Dawn said and walked off with her bag, leaving Shawn by himself.

"Self preservation comes first!" Shawn reminded his teammate before hearing a chuckle from Axel.

"Bonding with your new teammates already, Shawn?" Axel smirked teasingly.

"What do you want, Axel?" Shawn asked in annoyance.

"I just came to tell you not to get too comfortable because we're bringing everything we've got!" Axel declared in a bragging manner.

"And why should I care about your taunts?" Shawn rolled his eyes. "You failed to get me eliminated."

"I'm a survivalist with a primitive survival rating of nine point seven, and I will make sure that my team will beat yours," Axel said.

They then looked over to Cameron, who was kneeling in front of the steps of his cabin reading off a book. "How to do a push-up. Step one, lie on the ground. Step two, push up." He got himself in the push-up position, but when he tried to execute the exercise, he fumbled and landed on his face.

The scene flashed to Tyler and Noah in the boys' side of the Rat cabin, the former doing sit-ups on the top bunk and the latter reading on the bottom.

"So…" Tyler began a conversation with Noah as he paused his exercise. "Have any of the girls on the island caught your eye recently?"

"Of course!" Noah answered with a surprisingly happy smile. "Dakota is such a goddess of beauty!"

"Hey!" Tyler became mad at the snarker. "I'm into her!"

"I know you are," Noah said seriously. "The only thing I'm into is the one million big ones. Dakota's far away from being my type."

"My bad, Noah!" Tyler quickly apologized. "It's hard to tell when you're being sarcastic."

"Gentlemen," Alejandro said as he entered the cabin, "I would like to propose something between us."

"Hopefully not a three-way marriage," Noah snarked. "I'm straighter than a race track."

Alejandro gave him a quick glare, but continued. "As you can tell by now, there are currently five members on this team, and us three are rather close."

"Yeah!" Tyler agreed. "Dawn's the only chick on our team, and Shawn just switched."

"Which is why I say we should join forces as an alliance in order to boot the two off," Alejandro discussed. "Any objections?"

"As long as I'm in the majority, there won't be any objections from me," Noah joined in.

"I don't want them to be left in the dust, but I do want to win, so I'm in the dudes alliance," Tyler smirked.

"Excellent," Alejandro smiled.

Confessional: Alejandro

"Two loyal allies that I can make use of and dispose of once I'm nearing the end and two obvious threats I can eliminate if we do lose," Alejandro spoke coolly. "Double check."

Confessional Ends

A loon called as the scene moved to the Mess Hall, cutting inside to Axel, Cameron, Mike, Lindsay, and Emma, who were seated at the forward table this time around, while the five Rats had been forced to claim the table closer to the kitchen. All of them were eating what appeared to be trays of mostly meat – bacon and roast chicken and some kind of intestines, with a bit of mashed potatoes and an apple on the side.

Noah was in line with his tray out. After it got filled with breakfast, he smiled a bit. "This is looking pretty good," he said to Chef, to which the cook actually smiled in appreciation.

Dawn walked up to Noah with her own tray. "This is too much protein," she said out of Chef's view to Noah.

"I'm aware, but this is something I can actually eat," Noah told his teammate.

"Attention campers!" Chris announced. "Breakfast is cutting in to precious time that you could spend getting injured!" The shot cut to the loudspeaker outside as Chris laughed. "Grab your swimsuits and meet me at the dock, pronto!"

The campers, who'd already gathered in the middle of the lodge aside from Dawn, Noah, and Shawn, began to groan and complain. "You have ten seconds to exit the Mess Hall," Chris added, "before I release...The Raccoon!"

"The raccoon?" Emma repeated in disbelief, and the seven teens started to laugh as the camera pulled back and a large crate was lowered down from the ceiling on chains. It stopped just before it hit the floor, and the campers immediately looked at it with dread.

The front face of it was punched off, revealing the giant mutant raccoon inside. It roared, and with a shriek, the two teams fled the building.

The camera cut to the entrance to the kitchen, where Shawn was wheeling in a service cart full of the morning meal. "Hey," he asked, apparently not hearing the warning. "Where are you guys going? Well," he shrugged, "more fuel and energy coming up!"

He started eating, unaware of the menacing shadow creeping toward him.

The scene cut outside to the campers catching their breaths, Chris watching them nearby with an impish smile.

"What was that about?" Alejandro asked him. "That thing could've killed us!"

Chris just laughed. "Nah, only if you got between him and food." He sent a pensive look off-screen and said "Team Rat, looks like you're still missing a player."

The camera cut to the main lodge, where Shawn was tossed out of a window with a scream.

"Nevermind," Chris said jovially.

The footage flashed ahead to the two teams assembled on the Dock of Shame in their swimsuits – Maggots on the left, Rats on the right, Chris in the middle. Each team also had an old-fashioned diving suit connected by hose to a hand pump lying between them and the host.

"Alright," Chris began, "here to help us get today's competition underway, say hello to one of our classic competitors, Damien!"

The camera zoomed out as the nervous wreck and Dakota arrived at the dock in a patched-up red canoe.

"I'm ready to go," Damien told the host, "but remember," he gave a reminder, "my contract said demonstration only."

"Relax," Chris smiled, "no demo needed! Just chum the water and try not to get eaten."

Dakota reached into the canoe and picked up a bucket of green slop. She took one whiff of it and retched. "Ew! What is this stuff?" she asked in disgust.

"Leftovers," Chris grinned. "From last season."

"Gross!" Dakota shuddered.

It was then that Fang rose out of the water and chomped down on the end of the boat, devouring the bit of chum that had been spilled on it and forcing Dakota to yelp and dart over to Damien.

"This is so not safe!" Damien scolded him.

"Challenge, part one!" Chris moved on. "Each team must get a pair of water-skis in an underwater mission." The shot cut underwater as he spoke, showing two sets of water skis tied to a pair of rocks on the lake bed. A school of vicious, spiny fish swam past from the right to the left, and a second later, a school of eels passed through from the opposite direction. "Or drown trying," the host added as the camera zoomed in on the skis.

"One victim-I mean camper," Chris continued with a sly look, "will snag the skis in an old-school diving suit," he held up the Rats' suit, "and float them to the surface while the rest of their team pumps them oxygen," he held up the Maggots' pump. "First team to surface their skis wins, and gets an advantage in part two."

The focus moved to the Maggots, Axel standing before her teammates and holding the diving suit's helmet. "I'm diving. No questions asked."

"Can't any one of us do it?" Emma objected.

"At survival camp, I was voted 'Most Likely to Make You Regret Stuff'," Axel glared, "and I will make you regret asking that."

"Axel makes a solid point!" Cameron quickly agreed.

"Thank you," Axel said with a small smile. "All you guys have to do is pump me air."

Confessional: Lindsay

"Ally is really rude, but I'm sure I can reach out to her," Lindsay confessed. "I get along great with everybody, even ugly girls, and maybe I can impress her by helping her win the challenge."

Confessional Ends

The focus moved to the Rats, Alejandro at the center of their attention. "Okay," he told his teammates, "does anybody want to dive?"

"I'd like to give it a shot," Tyler volunteered.

"Really?" Alejandro asked skeptically. "Not to be offensive, but you're not usually the most skilled team player."

"Come on," Tyler said in disappointment.

"Let me do it. I managed not to get captured last episode," Shawn said, stepping forward and lifting up the diving helmet. "And if you want me to prove my loyalty and usefulness to the team, then let me volunteer."

Alejandro pursed his lips. "Well...if you insist...," he finally said.

"Thanks," Shawn added as he put the helmet on, and his grin showed through the glass. "This thing is just so cool!" he gushed.

Confessional: Alejandro

"Shawn isn't the most socially adept person around," Alejandro said to the confessional camera. "Though if he wants to put himself out there, then I guess I shouldn't complain. He either proves his worth or he gives us an easy target."

Confessional Ends

"Ready?" Chris asked, now standing between Axel and Shawn, the two now fully dressed in their diving suits. Axel glared at her opponent, while Shawn did the same, and with a sharp "GO!" from the host, the two were off.

The shot immediately cut underwater as the two splashed down and sank to the lake bed. The perspective moved behind them as they looked ahead to the tied-up skis in the distance, and after sharing a brief glance the two raced off...rather slowly through the water, thanks to the heavy suits and water pressure. They kicked up air bubbles and small clouds of sand with each step they took through the rock-and-trash-littered landscape, and the camera focused in on Shawn as he suddenly stopped as though his hose had been caught on something.

He looked back and the camera panned to follow, revealing Fang holding back the theorist's hose with a single hand. He grinned toothily, and Shawn screamed.

The scene moved back above the water, focusing on the Rats. Tyler was currently pumping with Alejandro and Noah flanking him, and Dawn nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, you're not getting tired already, are you?" Noah asked the jock as his breathing became heavier.

"I can take over for you if you want," Alejandro added.

"I got this," Tyler countered, pumping more furiously so that the hose started bulging as air pockets moved down it.

The scene cut back to Fang swimming viciously at Shawn; the conspiracy nut turned around and screamed just as the bulging air pocket moved through the hose towards him...blowing up his suit like a balloon, causing Fang to ram into him and bounce off.

"Go Axel! Go Axel!" Cameron cheered excitedly as the camera cut back above the water, the bubble boy kneeling at the edge of the Maggots' half of the dock.

"Don't mess up!" Emma added behind him.

The camera panned away from them and on to Mike and Lindsay, the latter operating the pump while the former talked to her...absentmindedly standing on the hose while doing so.

"Hey Mike, can I ask you something?" Lindsay said.

"Sure thing," Mike replied, looking at his teammate. "What's on your mind?"

"Why was your shirt off last challenge?" Lindsay asked. "And why were you talking in a Jersey accent?"

"That was just Vito," Mike answered. "Sometimes I get so deep into character that I don't know what I'm doing."

"So you're like a method actor?" Lindsay wondered.

"One of my many talents!" Mike explained. "Look, Lindsay, you're like, the most amazing girl I've ever met."

"The most amazing?" Lindsay's eyes widened in surprise.

"Yeah! And if you like my um, funny characters, then I won't retire them!" Mike said.

"I never wanted you to give up on acting," Lindsay said, "and I'd love to see you and your characters in a play someday."

"I'll see what I can do." As Mike spoke, the camera focused down on the slowly-growing bulge in the hose, trapped from moving onward by Mike's weight.

The shot cut back underwater, Axel eagerly approaching the water skis...until she suddenly gasped, stopped, and held her breath with a look of shock. She frantically started tugging on her hose, and the scene returned to the edge of the dock as the other end of the hose began to yank and twang.

Lindsay quickly noticed it, and moved her wide gaze up the hose to Mike's feet. "Wait, have you been standing on the hose this whole time?" she asked. "Get off! Angel's probably choking!" Lindsay shouted, causing the theater boy to jump back off the hose, allowing the air pocket to finally rush down the hose.

Back underwater, Axel's face had started to lose a bit of color as she kept on tugging at the hose. The air bubble finally reached her, and she let out a sigh of relief.

Confessional: Mike

"Man," Mike said nervously. "I do not like Axel, but I don't want her to die."

Confessional Ends

The static cut away to another part of the beach, where Dawn was collecting seashells and putting them into her bag.

Back to the Rats, Tyler continued to pump air at a fast pace.

"So what do you think of the new guy?" Tyler asked his teammates. "Shaw, or is it Shawn?"

"It's Shawn, and I'm not that fond of him," Noah shrugged. "I barely even know the guy."

"That I can expect," Tyler said. "What about you Al?"

Alejandro briefly shivered at the name. "Well, I could either see him as a reliable teammate or the one that's going home depending on his performance today."

"It's hard getting Shawn to open up to us, but we should give him a little time to get used to being on the team," Tyler suggested. "That's a thing that me and my sport buddies do to any of the newcomers."

"I don't trust him," Noah said before adding "yet. This'll show us whose side he's really on."

The scene flashed back underwater where Fang had gotten a hold of Shawn's air hose and was using him as a punching bag. The hose snapped from the unintended stress and the conspiracy nut was sent flying through the water.

Shawn quickly, and completely on accident, capitalized by getting to the Rats' skis first. His diving suit knocked Axel down and smacked into the rock holding the skis, the force was enough to dislodge them; seconds later, the two skis floated up to the surface.

A ship's horn was blown, and Chris called out "The Rats win the first challenge!" over the shot of Shawn flying out of the water between the skis with a scream.

"The Rats are the first to grab water skis," Chris announced the scene flashed to everyone assembled on the dock, "and their reward?" he said as a light-skinned female intern with a black ponytail drove a speedboat up to the Rats' side of the dock. "A McLean Brand Speedboat to use in part two of the challenge."

"Cool!" Tyler cheered in excitement.

"Perfect!" Alejandro chimed in, the rest of their teammates smiling.

"And for the Maggots," Chris turned to the losers, a spluttering engine attracting their attention to the lake as well as the southeast Asian male intern drove up an inflatable boat to the left side of the dock. "A totally leaky dinghy!"

The five Maggots groaned and hung their heads in disappointment.

"This challenge is so ours," Noah said to Tyler before he saw Shawn catch up to the Rats with his diving suit torn up.

"Did we win the advantage?" Shawn asked the snarker.

"We sure did!" Noah answered.

"Part two of the challenge," Chris continued, "a death-defying water ski race! The goal? Be the first to ring four bells on these four totally harmless buoys."

As he spoke, the shot cut first to one of the bells, then zoomed out to show it – and the others floating nearby – were attached to the top of what were very obviously sea mines. Dakota and Damien arrived just then, the former frantically bailing out water while the latter paddled their canoe up to one of the mines. They bumped into it just as Chris proclaimed its harmlessness, and both the canoe and the people on it were blown away by the resulting explosion.

Dakota, singed and screaming, crashed head-first into an actual buoy but quickly grabbed onto it. "Rude!"

Chris laughed. "Make that three bells," he corrected as a screaming Damien landed on the dock beside him. "See?" he told the slightly-charred young man. "You totally got to demo the challenge." The host then looked at the camera. "Who will cry for their mommy? And who's cries will be drowned out by explosions?" he asked with a wide smile. "Find out when we return." He looked down at Damien, who coughed out a little more soot.

(Commercial Break)

"Before the break," Chris said over a shot of the speedboat, the perspective a rare side-view of the end of the dock, "the Rats got dibs on a sweet speedboat. Which, they'll need." The camera panned on to the winning team standing confidently in their bathing suits, and Noah and Dawn shared a quick fist bump.

"Meanwhile," the camera panned to the left past the host and onto the other team, "the Maggots are stuck dodging water mines," the shot kept panning from the glum-looking losers onto their vessel, "in a leaky dinghy that couldn't float in a kiddie pool." True to the host's word, the inflatable boat appeared to have already taken on a little bit of water.

"That sounds about right!" Noah mocked.

"Choose three campers to water ski, one to drive, and one to operate your gull cannon," Chris continued.

"Gull cannon?" Dawn asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, you heard me," Chris said with a mischievous grin, taking out a remote control, pointing it at the boats, and pressing its single button. With a mechanical whir, two identical turrets rose up from the two vessels; multi-barreled things with small sights and a large glass tank on top containing three noticeably snake-like gulls.

"A cannon? Can this get more cool?" Tyler commented from off-screen.

"Each team gets three chances to shoot the bells," Chris explained. "Or the other team. Especially the other team," he grinned darkly.

"This seagull looks abnormal," Cameron said, kneeling down at the edge of the dock to get a closer look at his team's cannon.

"Ohhh, that's not a seagull," Chris said. "These babies are half seagull, half rattlesnake, all with paralyzing venom."

Cameron turned his attention back to the glass tank and tapped on the side of it until one of the birds screeched at him, baring its fangs and causing the bubble boy to recoil with fright.

Chris laughed. "Whichever team rings the most bells, wins!"

"Ooh, I'll drive!" Lindsay quickly suggested, looking at Axel next to her. "If that's okay with everybody."

"Whatever," Axel said. "I'm gunning."

The two girls walked forward past their teammates, Mike looking toward the Rats while Cameron and Emma smiled.

"Well boys," Emma said, grabbing the arms of the boy on either side of her, "looks like we're skiing. Which is great, because I have expertise in this sort of stuff back home."

"So Emma's on one ski," Cameron said. "You have the other, Mike?"

Mike turned his attention back to his team. "Yes," he gave a thumbs-up.

"Good," Cameron said with a grin. "Then I'm on top."

Confessional: Cameron

"My body is short, so that's why it can come in handy for this challenge," Cameron said with confidence.

Confessional Ends

The focus cut over to the Rats as Noah sat down in the driver's seat. "I'm driving," he said confidently, pulling a lever and turning on the engine.

"And I'll take the cannon," Alejandro said, the camera panning over to him taking control of the boat's weapon. "I do have a perfect aim from archery back home."

"So I guess we're skiing," Shawn said as Tyler picked up the tow line's handle.

Chris smiled, then blew an airhorn to signal the start of the challenge. The Rats' speedboat immediately started moving, causing Tyler to gasp as he was suddenly yanked along for the ride – and Dawn and Shawn as well as they were frantically grabbed and pulled along as well.

The camera zoomed out and the Maggots got their start as well, the dinghy moving away from the dock at a much slower pace, enough to drag Mike, Emma, and Cameron off the dock but not quite enough to keep them afloat on their skis.

The focus flashed back to the Rats' boat. "We've got this in the bag!" Noah bragged. "Those Maggots won't catch up!"

The camera cut from them to a trail of bubbles behind the Maggots' accelerating dinghy, which soon revealed themselves to be Mike and Emma on one ski each while Cameron sat on Emma's shoulders.

Also rising up from the water was Fang, who snapped his jaws at the Maggot trio. "Drive faster!" Cameron called up to his other teammates.

"It doesn't go any faster!" Lindsay called back to them.

"Well keep trying!" Emma called out. "Fang's gonna eat us!"

"Wait! I have an idea!" Cameron called out suddenly, then whispered something in Mike's ear.

Mike then proceeded to pull off his shirt, causing him to turn into Vito. "Don't worry guys, I got this," the Jersey personality said and punched Fang's nose, causing the shark to fly away.

"Now that was awesome!" Emma said as they sped up.

Back to Fang, he rubbed his nose that had become red and sore. Casting a look at the Maggots, he snarled at them.

The focus cut to the open water as the speedboat sped in and out of view, then the Maggots' dinghy. "Let's see if we can slow down those Rats," Axel called out to Lindsay as she readied the cannon.

"Be careful!" Lindsay replied. "We only have one gull!"

"And it's all we'll need," Axel said darkly, firing off her cannon. The gull shot past Dawn and Shawn and Tyler, who had gotten into a pyramid formation with the moonchild on the shoulders of the conspiracy nut and klutz – and hit Noah in the back, and he immediately felt its effects.

"I've been hit!" Noah cried out in alarm, standing up and holding his head. "I've...been...hiiittt..." he slurred, finally toppling over onto the boat's windshield and Alejandro immediately ran to his side.

"Noah!" Alejandro said, struggling to move his teammate. "Team, we lost steering!" The shot zoomed out to show the speedboat swerving off-course and plowing into a stand of reeds.

The focus moved ahead back to the Maggots, where Axel was looking back and smiling. "Sucks for them," she said with a chuckle before turning back to the course.

The perspective moved to show through her cannon's aiming sight as the cross-hairs aligned with the bell. She readied her cannon but was distracted by another gull, whizzing through and ringing the bell. The mine exploded as the Maggots passed by it, and the five half-cheered, half-screamed.

"Great shot Amber!" Lindsay called back to the gunner.

"Axel, and that wasn't me," Axel replied bitterly.

Just then, the Rats sped by; Noah still slumped over the windshield while the skiers cheered and congratulated Alejandro on his shot.

"Yes!" Dawn cheered.

"Great shot Alejandro!" Tyler said next.

"Not a victory yet," Alejandro said to himself. "We still need some way to steer this thing."

The focus cut back to the Maggots as they approached the second mine.

"Oh my gosh, we're losing! What do we do!?" Emma asked.

Cameron thought for a moment. "What we need is an Olympian!" he said.

Vito inhaled and turned into Svetlana. "It's time for Svetlana to get gym-nasty!"

"Watch out!" Shawn called out in sudden panic, pointing ahead of their boat. Alejandro looked from him to the direction he was pointing, then cried out in shock.

They sped past the buoy that Dakota was on - the intern was using the chum bucket to bat away Fang screaming "Get away from me, you big jerk!" - and Noah snagged his head on the bucket. "Hey, my bucket!"

A slurp was heard from within the bucket and Noah woozily said "Is this protein..." then fell on the throttle to the boat.

Moments later, the speedboat slowed to a stop, causing the waterskiing Rats to crash and fall into the boat as the Maggots passed them.

"Svetlana will now perform the triple point dismount!" Svetlana said before doing a flip with one of the skis still attached to her, landing on a mine, ringing the bell, and grabbing back onto the tether and speeding off before it blew up.

"Whoa!" Tyler said as the waterskiing Rats got back up.

"The Maggots are ahead!" Shawn cried out in alarm as the skiers got to their feet.

"And we lost our skis," Tyler added.

"That's because our designated driver got his head stuck in a bucket," Alejandro replied, the camera cutting to the sleeping bookworm.

"Everyone calm down, I have a plan," Dawn interrupted. "Tyler, you drive."

"Sure thing! I've been go karting ever since I was seven!" Tyler got to the driver's seat.

"Shawn, we'll have to ski with Noah," Dawn told him.

"I know a way we can use him," Shawn nodded.

"Alejandro, don't you dare fire anymore of those defenseless gulls!" Dawn ordered the latino.

"I'm not a fan of needless violence, so you can count on me," Alejandro smiled.

The footage skipped ahead to the Rats back in motion, the members in position according to Dawn's plan – Tyler driving, Alejandro at the cannon, and Dawn and Shawn using Noah as a ski.

"Way to go, Dawn!" Tyler cheered.

"Nice strategy!" Shawn added as well.

Another flash took the scene to the Maggots, their boat moving to the right with Axel looking down her cannon's sights.

"The Rats are back!" Lindsay called back.

"Not for long," Axel said as she readied another shot... only for the cannon to explode presumably by a jammed gull.

"Are you okay?" Lindsay asked. Axel coughed up a few feathers in response.

"Look out!" Axel yelled. Lindsay looked from her to the direction she was pointing, then cried out in shock.

Moments later, the dinghy crashed in to a tall rock jutting out of the lake, knocking the girls off their feet and causing their waterskiing teammates to crash and fall into the boat in turn.

"My thoracic vertebrae…" Cameron moaned, having the displeasure of slamming into the motor.

The Rats sped past them, all cheering. "There's the last mine!" Shawn called out as the camera quick panned to the bell on the mine.

A featherless gull fell from the sky and stung Tyler's left shoulder. "Why is the purple meatball playing the piano?" he slurred as his eyes widened briefly, then glazed over as he passed out.

"We lost another one!" Alejandro yelled out.

The camera cut back to the Maggots as Axel glared up at Lindsay. "Nice driving," she shot.

"I'm like super sorry," Lindsay said to the team. "But we're not that far from the last bell." The camera once again cut to the lone mine in the water.

"I know how we can win now!" Axel said to Cameron.

"Wait!" Cameron yelled. "What do you mean by THAAAAAAT?!" Axel picked him up and threw him at the buoy.

Meanwhile, the Rats sped along uncontrollably until they hit a particularly ramped-shaped rock. The boat, and Tyler and Alejandro, were sent into another rock while Shawn and Dawn fell into the water and Noah was sent flying through the air.

The camera cut to a shot of Cameron screaming through the air, then Noah screaming through the air, then to the two boys crashing into each other. They fell onto the mine and plunged it underwater, with Noah being the one who actually touched the bell.

The camera backed away, becoming the view through a pair of binoculars.

"No explosion?" Chris said from the dock, the camera cutting to his side as he lowered the binoculars. "Not cool," he turned and told Chef.

Moments later, an explosion from off-screen lit up the area, and the camera moved behind the two adults just in time to catch the plume of smoke and water rising up from the lake and dissipating just as quickly.

"Sha-boom!" the host laughed.

"And the Rats win!" Chris announced as the footage skipped ahead to the winning team assembled on the beach around a bandaged Noah on a stretcher next to an ambulance. They cheered, and Shawn and Tyler high-fived.

"Aw yeah!" Shawn celebrated.

"That was amazing Noah!" Dawn told the bookworm.

"You came through for us," Tyler said.

"Well done," Alejandro said with a smirk.

Noah said something through his bandages, but the reply was too muffled to understand.

The focus cut over to the Maggots as they came up to the beach and exited their boat, Emma dragging Cameron to shore and Mike now back to normal.

"We lost?" Lindsay asked in disappointment.

"You're correct about that," Cameron answered.

"Sure we lost again, but that doesn't mean we can't do better in the future!" Emma said positively.

Confessional: Cameron

"This is our second time being up for elimination," Cameron told the outhouse. "And this time, one of us is definitely going to get hurled. Maybe I can convince Emma to help me vote out Axel, and I know that Mike will follow suit. I figured out about Mike's DID after studying him. Sixteen years in a bubble makes a guy pretty observant. I think I can help him control it."

Confessional Ends

Cameron stepped out of the confessional, and started heading back to camp. After he was gone, Axel poked her head out from behind the outhouse.

"I am not going to be the one that goes home," Axel said to herself.

The footage cut to Lindsay sitting on a stump seat next to the fire pit as she brushed her hair while frowning to herself.

"Don't worry, Lindsay. You won't be leaving the island when you have goals to accomplish," the voice of Dawn said, making Lindsay look and see Dawn sitting next to her with her bag.

"Oh, hey Diana," Lindsay greeted. "I'm not sure which one of us is gonna get eliminated, and I don't want to leave when I haven't told Mike about my feelings for him."

"Trust me. Mike likes you a lot," Dawn assured.

"How are you so sure about that?" Lindsay asked.

"It's all over his aura," Dawn answered, then added "The Mike parts of it, anyway."

"What do you mean, "the Mike parts"?" Lindsay turned around as she asked, only to find out that Dawn was now nowhere to be seen. "Dawn? How did she turn invisible?" the dumb blonde asked aloud.

Confessional: Dawn

"In case you're wondering why I'm collecting things into my bag, let's just say that the universe wants me to sell these discarded TDR keepsakes on Crud's List, so I can start a sanctuary for all the poor mutant creatures on this island!" Dawn confessed.

"I'm not blind to being the only remaining girl on my team," she continued. "I'm just not taking action yet since we're in a good spot right now.

Confessional Ends

The scene flashed ahead to Mike leaning up against the side of the Maggots' cabin until he noticed Axel walking by.

"Mike, just who I wanted to see," Axel said as she slid out in front of him. "You mind if we talk for a second?"

"Uhh...," Mike began, but Axel quickly cut him off.

"Okay, good," Axel said. "Now, I know I haven't been the nicest leader around, but I need you to help me vote off Cameron tonight."

"Why should I do that?" Mike asked.

"Because he figured out about your disorder and told me about it," Axel recapped.

Mike gasped. "Why would he tell you, and how did he know?"

"He studied you to figure it out," Axel mentioned. "He also used your disorder just to make us win. Do the math. I'll go talk to Lindsay about voting with us." The shot zoomed in on Mike as he began to feel conflicted.

The camera cut ahead to Emma sitting outside. She was fixing her scrunchie and picking out her hair. "Why did Chris have to take my blow dryer away? My hair is so uneven!" she grumbled to herself.

The sound of footsteps on creaking wood caught her attention, and she looked up to see Cameron.

"Hey Emma. I've been looking all over for you," Cameron said.

"Cameron, what do you need?" Emma asked.

"I want to talk about the vote," Cameron got to the point. "I was thinking that we-"

"Vote for Axel," Emma finished for him.

"How did you know I was going to say that?" Cameron wondered with surprise.

"Axel looks down on you, and I'm not a big fan of her," Emma said. "It's pretty easy."

"Mike will vote alongside us," Cameron said. "Now we just have to wait for the ceremony."

The crackle of a campfire rose over the night's chorus as the camera cut to the moon high in the sky. The scene panned down to a bush rustling just at the edge of the clearing, then zoomed out to show the five Maggots – Mike on the left, then Lindsay, Emma, Axel, and Cameron on the far right end – seated all in a line in the front row of stump seats around the fire pit. Their eyes were a mixture of sadness and disappointment as they looked towards the just-off-screen host, and the ceremony began.

"After an episode filled with questions of friendship and loyalty, it's the Maggots whose bonds must be tested," Chris began, Chef already standing by with his hazmat suit and strongbox. "The following campers are momentarily safe," the host continued, holding up his tray of four ordinary marshmallows.

"Mike," he threw the first treat to the theater boy, who caught it with a smile.

"Lindsay," the camera panned over to the dumb blonde next as she caught her confection cheerfully.

"And Emma," the host said next, tossing the happy Emma the penultimate marshmallow from the tray.

Axel gaped in shock, then narrowed her eyes.

"And, the Toxic Marshmallow of Loserdom goes to...," Chris said as Chef plucked the glowing thing from the box and held it in his tongs.

"Cameron."

Cameron's eyes went wide, standing up and moving to the side in order to avoid the toxic marshmallow. "How come I'm the one getting hurled?"

"Let's see," Axel pretended to think. "Maybe it's because you tried to get me out today."

Cameron stared at her in horror. "How'd you know about that?"

Axel smirked at him. "Because you just told me, Cameron!" she gloated and tossed her marshmallow in her mouth.

After listening to Axel, Cameron smacked his forehead with his hand.

Emma stood from her seat. "I know you have to go, Cam, but I certainly didn't vote for you."

"Thanks, Emma," Cameron smiled at her. "I may not have won, but I did survive. And that counts for a lot when you grow up hermetically sealed in plastic. Just being alive is a personal victory, and I don't need to go back to my bubble ever again."

The screen flipped around a central axis, transitioning the scene to the Dock of Shame with Cameron sitting in the bucket of the Hurl of Shame.

"Is there a soft place for me to land?" Cameron asked the smiling host below him.

"Yeah, no," Chris told him just before he launched the bubble boy into the night with a scream. "That's the sound of an inexperienced kid getting a crushing reality check," he said, turning around to face the camera. "What kinds of danger will I have for the campers next time? Find out, on Total! Drama! Revenge, of the Island!"

The camera jumped outwards with each part of the title as usual, but the scene lingered there even as the capstone theme faded as Dakota was still hanging onto the buoy from earlier.

"Uh, hello? Somebody? Anybody?!" she called out as Fang was circling her.

Author's Note: And thus Axel shows another sign of her power over her team by making sure Cameron goes home. I hope the way I handled the vote made sense to all of you and was respectful enough to Cameron's character. I love him but I do recognize his arc could've worked even as an early boot.
