The youngest children of the Belserion family were taking a quick rest under the shade of a tree.
It was a hot summer afternoon. The air was still, making it unbearable to play on the playground.
The metal and plastic were sizzling to the touch.
Sting was panting as he tried to cool himself off. In between him and Rogue, sat Lector, Forsch, and Wendy contently enjoying their popsicles.
Sting stared at his brother in disbelief. Rogue was calmly reading his book. Like as if there weren't a terrible heatwave affecting Magnolia. He hasn't even broken out into a single sweat.
"Rogue, how are you not sweating?! It's freaking hot!"
The boy didn't even bother looking up from his book to respond.
"It's not that hot, Sting. Natsu's fire burns hotter than this."
Sting groaned as he leaned against the tree bark. Next to him, Wendy giggled as she played patty cake with Lector. Frosch cheered them on from the side.
Sting smiled and gave Wendy a little pat on her head.
"Huh?"
The little girl rotated herself so she was now looking at Sting. Her head tilted in confusion. Like a cute curious puppy.
"Sting-nii? Did you pat Wendy's head?"
Sting blushed in embarrassment and turned away.
"No! You just had something in your hair!"
Wendy giggled and threw herself at Sting, giving her big brother a huge hug.
Everyone laughed at Sting's little yelp as the little girl wrapped her arms around his chest, giving him the tightest hug.
Sting smiled and returned the gesture.
"Yeah, yeah."
