"Can we go home already?" whined 9 year old Natsu as he kicked the office ground with impatience.

"No. Behave." Irene said firmly which silenced Natsu.

The only noises that could be heard in the office were the sounds of pen scratching and papers shuffling.

He and Happy offered to come along with Irene because she promised to buy them new fishing rods they'd been wanting for months now.

Happy and Natsu already played all the games they knew so now they were out of ways to distract themselves from the overwhelming boringness of office work.

Happy was napping but Natsu wasn't sleepy yet and with his buddy asleep, the young boy had nothing else to do but sit in silence.

Natsu cursed himself for tagging along. If only he knew that he had to endure this then those fishing poles might not have been worth it at all.

He checked the time on the mounted clock.

2:45 PM (14:45)

His stomach grumbled with hunger. "Mom, I'm hungry." he pouted.

"There's snacks in the fridge." Irene said without looking up from her work.

Natsu jumped off the chair and went over to the mini fridge she had in the corner. On top was a bowl of fruit which he didn't want.

He opened the fridge and his mouth watered when he saw soda, three chocolate cupcakes, and a half eaten sandwich.

"Natsu, no sugar. I don't want you hyper right now."

Natsu raised his eyebrow in disapproval. "You ain't the boss of me." Natsu grumbled under his breath as he reached for a cupcake.

"I heard that. Natsu, please I'm serious." Irene warned.

Natsu smirked as he came up with a fun idea. "Okay, mom! You're the boss!"

"Thank you, sweetie."

Natsu grabbed a cupcake and unpeeled the wrapper. Irene looked up and frowned.

"Natsu, what did I just say?"

"I'm not eating it. Just smelling it!" Natsu giggled.

Irene narrowed her eyes as her son acted like a smart alek. "You have three seconds to put that down."

"Ahhh!" Natsu said as he opened his mouth and wiggled his tongue close to the frosting.

"Natsu, I'm warning you."

Without hesitation he shoved the entire cupcake into his mouth and chewed it before swallowing.

Irene sighed in defeat and continued her work which made Natsu frown.

He was under the impression his mom would play along with his game but instead she just looked disappointed with him which hurt alot.

He looked down at the ground in shame as he took a seat and sat quietly.

After what seemed like minutes, Natsu broke the silence. "Mom?" he said, calling out to her.

"Hmm?" she hummed in response as she opened up her desk to stash away some folders.

"Are you mad at me?" Natsu whimpered.

"What? No, of course not, honey."

Natsu looked at his mom with sad eyes. "But I didn't listen to you."

Irene shook her head and gave a small smile before extending her arms out to him. He got up and went to hug her.

"I do get a little mad when you don't listen to me. But I'd rather have you hyper than hungry." Irene chuckled as she planted a kiss on his forehead.

Natsu laughed and nodded.

Irene looked at the time as it was finally four in the afternoon which meant time to go home.

Natsu excitedly woke up Happy and the two bounced around excitedly because it meant their mom was finally taking them to buy the new fishing poles they wanted.

After buying what they wanted, Natsu and Happy both kissed their mom on the cheek and thanked her before running off the forest to fish.

She giggled as she made her way home. Irene was happy she could get her kids what they wanted.

Their happiness meant everything to her.
