"FOU FOU KYUUU!". Fou let out what sounded like a mix of thrilled purrs and panicked noises as he clinged to Sonic's back, one second they were in a room with Romani, the next they were half-way to the Rayshift room!

"Sorry bud! Can't slow down!". The hedgehog pushed himself faster, but Chaldea was to small for him to go all out in speed! Still, it only took him a few seconds to arrive at a fire, without hesitation he ran through it, his sheer speed serving as a shield against the flames.

He took in the damaged walls, the holes, the clear proof of an explosion... And the bodies, some of them were so destroyed he could barely recognize them as human, but the amount of dead was...

Sonic was a hero, but he couldn't save everyone, that was a weigh nobody could hold. That didn't mean he wouldn't grieve for those he couldn't save here, and save those he could.

"Hold on Fou! I'm going sonic speed!". Blue electricity danced along the Blue Blur's legs, and with a sudden burst of speed the various fires were put out as he arrived in a large room, the smell of burning flesh hitting him. He glanced to the strange pod-like devices, but his attention was quickly grabbed by something else. "MASH!".

"{Generator operation stopped. Power level critical. Switch to backup generator, error. Please make the switch manually. The containment wall will close in 50 seconds. Those who remain in central area, evacuate immediately}". The metallic voice over the speaker's was ignored as Sonic rushed over.

"S-senpai...Fou? What are you... Doing here...?". Mash Kyrielight struggled to look up, the floor around her was covered in blood, and her lower body was covered in debris. Sonic didn't hesitate, pushing as much strength as possible into his arms. "D-don't bother, S-senpai... Y-you need to get out of here, the... The automatic lockdown will...".

"Don't worry about it! I get out of these situations all the time!". The hedgehog grunted, managing to remove a large piece of the rubble, but the rest was still there. Times like this he was jealous of Knuckles strength. Fou did his best to help, leaping down and digging into the rubble.

"{System switching to the final phase of Rayshift. Coordinates, AD 2004, January 30th. Fuyuki, Japan. Laplace's shifting protection was established. Singularity's additional factor slot is secured. Unsummon program set, please set final adjustments}".

"S-senpai, why are you...?". Mash couldn't understand, even as metallic walls started to fall down on any hope of escape and she bled from wounds to severe to survive, Sonic was still...

"Because you're my friend! I'm not going to let you die here!". Sonic lifted another piece of rubble, wincing as he started to see the condition of Mash's legs. Even with Mobius technology, she'd never be able to walk again.

"{Warning all observation staff. Chaldea's state has changed. Now rewriting Shiva's near-future prediction data. Unable to detect the existence of mankind for 100 years shortly of Earth. Unable to confirm human survivors, unable to guarantee mankind's future}".

"Chaldeas... Has turned bright red...". Mash noticed as a red light replaced the blue light of the planet-like machine, Sonic honestly could care less, focused on removing the rubble. Fou however had stopped.

"Central Area, sealed. One hundred eighty seconds till internal containment procedure".

"T-they shut off the area... There goes, any chances of getting out". Her vision was getting dark, the only things she could focus on were the flashing red lights and the blue quills of her Senpai.

"Mash! Hold on Mash!". Sonic was starting to lose his cool, he just needed to get her out of the rubble and he could use a Power Ring to-

"{Coffin Vitals: Master baseline not reached. Rayshift requirement not met. Searching for qualifying Master Candidates... Found. Unidentified Candidate reset as Master. Unsummon program, start. Spiritron conversion, start}".

"Uhm... Sen...pai? Would you mind, holding my hand...?". A small, but warm hand enclosed her hand. "Ah... You have very warm hands... Senpai...".

"Mash...". Dammit, dammit! Sonic cursed in his head, he was to slow! Fou let out a pitiful whimper, staring at Mash with sadness in his eyes.

"{Rayshift starting in 3... 2... 1... All procedures clear. First order, commencing operation}".

Suddenly, the world was filled with blinding light.

"It was never about chivalry to me. I just gotta do what I gotta do, that's all!".

"Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but...That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have".

"Senpai... If you don't wake up, I will kill you!".

"Gah! I'm up Shadow...? Huh? You're not Shadow". Sonic raised an eyebrow, that was... "Okay, I'm happy to see your alive, but why in the name of Dark Gaia are you wearing something that looks like it came from Rouge's closest?".

"A-ah! I didn't choose this outfit, Senpai!". A flustered, but very alive Mash Kyrielight exclaimed. Her covering outfit was completely replaced by what look like fetishistic knight's armor, black and purple armor covering her arms, most of her chest, and a steel skirt. However, large portions of her stomach were revealed, her shoulders were completely uncovered, and there was nothing protecting her legs besides a pair of steel boots... That for some reason had high heels.

Mash Kyrielight, True Name Unknown. As a result of a process of trying to create a human who can wield a Servant's power, Mash was infused with the soul of a Servant, but until now it has never awakened. She is the first recorded proof of a Demi-Servant in all of history.

Her class is Shielder, she lacks any typically offensive abilities but in return her defense is off the charts.

"Yeaaaa, I like the knightly spirit... But no knight would ever wear something like that, trust me, I had a great mentor on these type of things". Sonic's gaze quickly switched the the utterly massive and unique shield Mash was carrying. "A shield huh? Can you use it?".

"Y-yes? But why?". Mash seemed confused, until she heard a groaning sound.

"Because the parties just arrived, and I have a feeling we're the main course". Sonic took in the dozens of skeletons approaching them. "Undead huh? I don't think I've fought those before, Knuckles usually dealt with the ghosts and ghouls, do Zombots count? Wait no, there was that one time...".

The hedgehog suddenly shot forward, spin dashing through six skeletons and lashing out with a fierce spin kick to destroy the skull of a seventh. By the time those had crumbled down he'd already moved forward using a mixture of kicks and punches to take down most of the hoard.

"I-incredible! Even with Servant tier vision, I can barely follow Senpai's movements!". Mash was in awe of the sheer speed Sonic was showing off, casually dodging blades inches from his skin. "I can't fall behind him!".

The Shielder rushed forward, using her massive shield as a battering ram to push the skeletons back. Swinging it around dozens of skeletons were shattered upon contact, but her movements were more brute force then any kind of skill. An arrow slammed into her thigh, but it shattered upon impact with her incredible defense. She raised her shield and brought it down onto a skeleton, crushing it but leaving her open to a sword from behind.

"Keep a better eye on you're back okay? You don't have sharp quills to protect it". Sonic grinned as he was holding the blade between the palm of his hands, quickly kicking and sending the skeleton it was attached to flying. Mash could only stare in awe, hadn't he been on the opposite side of the battlefield a moment ago? "Heh! Close your mouth, or you may catch some flies!".

Flipping the blade around, Sonic grabbed onto its hilt and zoomed forward, every skeleton in his way cut down. A rain of arrows fell towards the hedgehog, but with a grin he began to spin around, forming a blue tornado that flung the arrows back!

Sonic gave a bow, all around him were crushed or split bones, victory was theirs.

"Great job Mash! I didn't know you had a transformation of your own!". The hedgehog held out his hand for a fist bump, a hesitant Mash giving her own.

"I... I usually don't, this is a new phenomenon for me to, Senpai". Mash admitted, while she was fit (It would be completely illogical for her not to be), she'd never shown feats of strength like this. "We should-".

"Hello!? This is Chaldea Command Room! Does anyone hear me?!". The sudden voice of Romani threw both off, as Mash raised her hand to her right ear, where Sonic now noticed was some kind of earbud.

"This is Mash Kyrielight, a member of A-Team. At this time, I've successfully Rayshifted to Singularity F, my sole companion is Sonic the Hedgehog, mind and body both intact. Rayshift and Master compatibility both satisfactory. Please register Sonic as an official researcher". Mash spoke in a professional tone, but a hint of nervousness could be hear coming through.

"What?! Mash!? Sonic!? I can understand Mash Rayshifting successful, but we never even tested Sonic for any compatibility I'm impressed you didn't lose your existence, I'm really glad". Romani's voice was relieved, but his next sentence earned a laugh from Sonic. "Also Mash... What's up with that outfit?! It's shameless! I didn't raise you to dress like that!".

"Huh, so this outfit wasn't planned? Because I have a LOT of complaints to give the designer". Sonic added in, trying to supress his giggles at Mash's blush.
"I-it happened so fast I didn't have time to fully realize it... Dr. Romani, please check my condition, I think you'll understand the situation better". Mash explained, there was the sound of keys being pressed.

"Wh-whoa! whoa, whoa! Physical strength, magical circuits, everything's increased! You're not so much a human, but-".

"Yes, it seems I've become a Servant. I don't remember how it happened exactly, but there was somebody I was talking with... He wanted me to eliminate the cause of the Singularity and... I don't understand why, but he said something about serving the king?". Mash seemed confused, completely missing Sonic's suddenly widened eyes.

'Couldn't be... Right? The chances of something like that, but now I'm looking at it, that shield really does feel familiar, its design is almost like...'. Sonic frowned, he didn't want to make a quick judgement and make Mash confused. He'd have to check if that story existed in this world too, and then he'd talk with Mash to explain the situation.

A part of him was hoping he was wrong, there was a reason he didn't talk much about his adventures in Camelot, or the fact he was technically royalty.

"A Heroic Spirit and a human, fused... A Demi-Servant? That's Chaldea's sixth experiment, I see... So it finally succeeded, huh? Does the Heroic Spirit still have his consciousness?". Romani asked, but Mash shook her head.

"No, he gave me some basic combat abilities and then vanished. He never revealed his True Name even at the end, so I don't know who I've fused with... Nor what kind of Noble Phantasm I'm holding. At this point, there's too much I don't know". Mash looked down, she was essentially a half-baked Servant.

"Ah come on, cheer up! Who cares if you don't know who's powers you got? If he was rude enough to vanish without introducing himself, then he's not worth the effort! There you're powers now anyway, and I'm sure you'll do WAY better then whoever gave you you're powers". Sonic placed a hand on Mash's shoulder, it was somewhat awkward with Sonic being smaller then her, but it still brought a smile to the Shielder's face.

"Ah, thank you Senpai... But still, compared to the speed you just showed... What exactly is Senpai? I've never heard of anything like you". Mash asked, Sonic had said a lot of things and now she was starting to realize she really didn't know much about him.

"I'll admit I'm curious to, at first I thought you were just some chimera or experiment, but to much evidence is against that. Speed surpassing that of anything we have on record, an unknown energy never detected in all of human history, no rejection from the Counter-Force, and now the ability to Rayshift and Master compatibility? Just what are you, Sonic the Hedgehog?". Romani asked, he didn't think Sonic was a threat, something about the hedgehog was just to trustworthy for that. But he couldn't ignore everything going on.

"Well... You guys ever heard of the multiverse?". Sonic's reply confused both, before Romani's eyes widened in shock.

"Are you saying you travelled from across the Kaleidoscope?!". The doctor's shocked exlaimed had Mash's eyes widen as well.

"Kaleidoscope? I fell through a rainbow rift, almost killed me as well, but I'm talking multiverse here. I was helping my little brother with an experiment, there's this basically... Digital dimension a group we've been calling The Ancients made, Cyber-Space. Tails, thats my brother's name by the way, was trying to gain stable access to it, and I ended up jumping in as I'm the only one able to escape at will, an enemy of mine theorized it was because of my speed". Sonic began to explain, Romani and Mash both staying quiet. "Cyber-Space basically recreates things from your memory, so I was exploring a temple I'd been to before, when a bunch of freaky purple lightning started shooting out of a vortex".

"A digital dimension? These Ancients... Their technology must be hundreds of years more advanced then our own, how did they even generate the energy for such a thing?". Romani wondered.

"Chaos Emeralds, I'll explain em later, because if I start explaining every little detail we'll be here for weeks. Anyway, I was avoiding the lightning trying to find an exit, but couldn't find any, so I decided to take a risk and jumped into the vortex. It hurt... A lot". Sonic brushed a hand through his quills. "Thankfully, the machine my brother was using was connected to the Chaos Emeralds, which for a short term explanation can grant major power, so I ended up calling them to transform into Super Sonic".

"Super Sonic?". Mash asked curiously, for some reason she imagined her Senpai's quills getting even more spiky.

"By absorbing the seven Chaos Emeralds, you can transform into a Super Mode, it boosts all my powers, and I tried using a technique to destroy the vortex, Chaos Control. Its powerful and can be used in a lot of ways, but I'm guessing the space-time warping abilities of Chaos Control, plus the unstable rift, threw me into what you guys called the Kaleidoscope. Even with my Super Form it was dealing a ton of damage, so I used another Chaos Control, and bam! I'm in a snowfield, passed out for a bit, and then met Da Vinci". Sonic's explanation sounded fantastical, and impossible...

But.

"I believe you, Senpai". Mash smiled at the hedgehog. "If you really are from another world, that would explain all your abilities, maybe the Age of Gods never ended in your world?".

"That would make sense, the Age of Gods only ended because of the White Titan's attack on Earth, but if it never came to Earth, who knows what kind of world would be created? Still, I'm curious... What could have ended a civilization that could create an entire dimension?". Romani wondered, it would have to be a cataclysmic threat.

"...Something I'm hoping to never encounter again, but I've lived a life that tells me I won't be that lucky". Sonic's tone, that until now had been calm and confident... Was shaken.

"Y-you actually encountered such a creature, Senpai!?". Mash couldn't believe it, no wonder the Blue Blur had been so calm despite everything, if he had survived such a horrific threat, a city filled with undead must seem calm.

"Yea, it was a few months back, but I really doubt I'm going to forget something like that for a long time". Sonic shook his head, his confident grin returning. "Anyway! We have a city filled with skeletons to deal with, we can talk more later!"

"A-ah yes you're right! Well, if you find a Leyline, we should be able to build a better connection, I'm surprised its held up this long... There should be one, two km from-". Romani's voice suddenly cut off, drawing a frown to Mash's face.

"Connection lost, ah, this is...". Mash looked nervous, but smiled when she felt a furry form on her shoulder. "Ah, I forgot to tell about Fou...".

"Eh, its alright, little guy is tough. shouldn't take more then a minute to reach this Leyline thing. Lets head out!". Sonic quickly pulled Mash into his arms in a bridal carry, causing the Shielder to turn red.

"S-senpai! You can't just- AAAAAAAAH!". Mash's screams filled the air as they suddenly shot off at immense speeds, a boom echoing behind them from the shattering of the sound barrier.

"FOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!".

"Adventure, here we come!". Sonic only grinned further, a city filled with undead, a new world, new friends, it was the start of a brand new adventure for the Blue Blur!
