Chapter 5: Anything she says- Mitchell Tenpenny

January 14th, 7 am

"What made you come over so early?" Bella asked as she put her mug in the sink.

"I wanted to talk to Charlie about some things. Nothing to worry about. And it gave me an excuse to come see your beautiful face." Jacob grinned.

Bella yawned and gently elbow-bumped him.

"Haha, very funny. I have a birthday gift for you. Did you have any plans today?"

Jacob took her hand and guided her to the pullout sofa.

"To be honest Bella, I just want to have a nice uninterrupted sleep with you in my arms for a few hours and then maybe we watch a movie or go out. I just want to be normal for a while."

"What about Billy? And the pack? Didn't you guys make plans?"

"Yeah, but that's not until tonight around 9. So for my birthday, I want to spend the whole day with you ."

"Like a date?" Bella asked with a broad smile.

"Oh, it is a date for sure."

"Alright, well let's get you some sleep. Are you going to be comfortable on the pullout?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine bells. I want to respect Charlie's rules. Don't need him thinking we're up to no good in your bedroom."

"Since when have you ever cared?" Bella laughed. " you used to sneak into my window all the time."

"Yeah and so did Edward. I don't want to do anything… further to have Charlie lose his trust in me. Especially after today."

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"Nothing important at the moment…. I'll tell you later. Now come on, I'm exhausted."

…..

Six hours later, the couple awoke to tangled limbs and the TV sound. However, they were not alone. Sitting in his recliner was Charlie.

"Ohh, hey Dad." Bella yawned.

"Hey, Charlie." Jacob greeted.

"Hey, kids. Sleep well?" Charlie eyes them.

"Dad…" Bella groaned.

Her father chuckled and shook his head.

"Jake, do you want your cake now or during the bonfire?" Bella asked.

"During the bonfire! I want to eat it in front of the guys and not share. Paul's gonna be so mad." Jacob chuckled.

Bella shook her head.

"Always starting trouble. I'm gonna go shower and then we can go. Can we take the rabbit?"

" Of course babe. Where we goin?"

"Nope, you don't get to get clues from me, Jacob Black. It's a surprise."

"Wait, I can't suprise you but you can suprise me?" he questioned.

"Exactly. Besides you like surprises."

"That's true, I do. Alright, go take ten hours primping in the bathroom. I'll be waiting."

" you mean spend ten hours primping just for it to be washed away! Oh my sir you are devious!" Bella said in a southern accent.

Jacob couldn't help but laugh.

As soon as Bella went upstairs, Charlie grunted. Jacob turned with an arched eyebrow.

"Something you need chief?"

"Nope. just watching you play the happy husband role." Charlie smiled behind his mustache.

"Sssh… Charlie. I haven't asked her yet!"

"Sure sure, Jake. Just don't wait too long."

"I won't."

With that said Jacob went to warm up the rabbit.

"Jake behind you!" Bella shouted

Jake was quick to turn and blast the kids who tried to zap him.

To his surprise, Bella took him a few hours outside of town to play laser tag

It had been sensory overload for the first few minutes but after some deep breaths, he was able to calm his wolf and have fun.

But in the back of his mind, he kept coming up with ways on how he would propose to Bella.

As much as he wanted to create some perfect, romantic moment, he knew that wasn't Bella's taste. She didn't want a big crowd, she didn't want anything fancy. She preferred a more intimate setting. But the question was how?

….

Bella was nervous. How in the world was she going to tell Jacob this life-changing news? Should she tell him on his birthday or wait?

They had just finished a few rounds of laser tag and stopped at a nearby sandwich place to pick up a late lunch. Her nose wrinkled at the smell of onions and a wave of nausea hit her.

Warm arms wrapped around her waist as they waited in line, pulling Bella back from the abyss.

"Hey, you ok honey? You look a little green," Jacob asked

"Yeah, not too fond of the smell of onions."

"it is pretty strong. We don't have to put any on the sandwiches. I won't order any either."

" Jake no you can still-"

"Bells relax. I don't mind not ordering the onions. Besides, don't need onion breath when we're kissing." He said as he kissed her temple. "Now, I was thinking, instead of eating here, why don't we go to Lake Crescent for a boat ride?"

"Lake Crescent? Where is that at?"

"It's near the Olympic mountains I-" Jacob's words fell short, as Bella sprinted away to the nearest trashcan just outside the restaurant.

He followed and held her hair, talking soothingly to her. When she was done, she sat up apologizing.

"Don't apologize Bells. This is the second time you've puked this week. Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, my stomach is just upset. I'm gonna rinse my mouth out. Can you order for me?"

"Sure babe, Turkey, bacon, and pepper jack on whole grain bread right?"

"You know me so well."

Jacob snorted ." you know I do. And I'm paying by the way."

As expected Bella sneered and opened her mouth to argue but Jacob stopped her.

"My birthday, my way." he smiled.

With an exasperated sigh, she walked away.

He watched her go, his wolf sitting up to watch his chosen mate, taking in the subtle differences in her body language.

"Somethings different. She smells different. Her scent is stronger. His wolf noted.

"I know. I see it too."

"Jake ! this…. this is beautiful. I never knew this existed!" Bella exclaimed as they stood on the dock overlooking the lake.

"Isn't it? Theirs a story Mom would tell us about how the lake. It's an Indian legend that tells us of the creation of Lake Crescent. There was much fighting between the Klallam and Quileute tribes along a small river that flowed through the present site of Lake Crescent. The disagreements escalated into a great battle that lasted three days. The mountain spirit of the area became very upset at the foolish fighting. He hurled a gigantic boulder down at them, killing all of the warriors. The boulder was so big that it dammed the river and the water backed up, forming Lake Crescent. For many years, tribal members wouldn't visit the area where their relatives were killed. Despite the stories, Mom and Dad used to bring us here every summer before Mom died. After that, we never came up here again. Didn't help that Rachel and Becca had left home by then So yeah, it will be nice to create some new memories."

"Maybe some new memories with our kids one day?" Bella questioned hesitantly. She needed to see how he felt about this before she told him this news. Helpfully Softening the blow.

Jacob's eyes widened at her words.

"You… you think about us having kids?" he asked softly.

"Do you?"

"I do… all the time… I have plans for us Bella. Big plans… If you want that with me someday. Let's go get the boat." Jacob said ending the conversation.

However, Bella picked it back up as Jacob began to row, his muscles tightening with each pull and push of the oar.

" you said you had plans… for us? Want to share?"

Jacob licked his lips and spoke, locking eyes with her.

"A cabin not far from Dad's place on the reservation maybe just in the treeline surrounded by the forest. A small pond, so we can watch the ducks in the morning, and close enough to the first beach where you can have your me time in solitude. I think five bedrooms should do. One for us, two for the kids, and two guest rooms for when Dad and Charlie visit. Then I'm going to add a huge library just for you. We'll have a garage of course and we can still end our days covered in grease and drinking warm sodas. And then a back patio so we can sit and watch the kids play. Oh yeah and a little play set for them! That way they can get outside and play and have their friends over. And of course, once a year we take a big trip to other states. I would love to visit the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls. I didn't get the chance to have that childhood after my mom died. But yeah, that's what I see for us but... What do you see bells?"

"I see it too jake. I've been thinking about what I want to do with my life. I was thinking about taking a few classes and then maybe a small catering business. I like to cook but baking is my favorite thing."

The twosome went quiet as they thought about what the future may hold for them.

"What about our supernatural lives though Jake? It seems like every time we make progress, some supernatural wrench is being thrown."

Jacob stopped rowing as they floated in the middle of the lake. He reached forward taking her hands.

" We deal with it as it comes. Even now, with this nomad running around, has it ruined our day so far?"

"No, to be honest, I kind of forgot thier was a nomad running around," she admitted.

"Exactly. I want our lives to be as normal as we can make it. Yeah, I was... angry about phasing into a wolf at first but now I understand. It's part of me and I can't run away from it. Besides having supernatural powers isn't too bad. " he said as he showed off his muscles.

Bella laughed and blushed as the setting sun began to shine down on them. It made Jacob's skin glow beautifully.

"Wow Jake, you've always been sorta beautiful." she complimented as she blushed.

Jacob didn't say anything as he began to fidget. Looking somewhat nervous.

"You always say that bells but you're the beautiful one. You light up my life. Bella… I've been in love with you for as long as I can remember. I know it's been a hard year for both of us but I can't see my life without you. I want to wake up to you in the morning and fall asleep with you at night. I want to argue and debate, I want to sit in our garage and fix cars with you by my side. And I want to see you succeed, I'll support you in whatever you want to do with your life. I'll even be the taste tester for your bakery."

Bella laughed at that one and Jacob continued.

" What I'm trying to say is Isabella Marie Swan, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

Bella sat speechless as she stared at jacob. Here they were in the middle of the lake, with her best friend, her lover on one knee holding a ring. It was made out of wood with small wolves carved on the side. And in the middle was a sapphire gemstone. Her birthstone.

"Oh .. jake… Jacob... I … I want to marry you …but… are you sure? What about your life Jake? I don't want to hold you up! I would just be tying you down! And what if we end up like my parents!"

" We won't end up like them Bella. Unlike your parents, we know what we're getting into. Don't you feel this right now?" he asked as he placed her hand on his chest. "Please don't be scared baby."

"I love when you call me that. " she sighed. " my answer is yes but i have to ask. Do you want kids with me one day?"

"Yes! Bella, I want it all with you. The whole thing. So you're saying yes? You'll wear my ring? Be my wife ?!"

"Yes, Jake. I will." she laughed.

Jacob stood and hollered out "SHE SAID YES! SHE'S GONNA BE MY WIFE!"

"Jake, be careful!" she warned as the boat rocked.

"Come here, honey. Let me put this on your finger." He soothed as he put the ring on her left hand.

"It's beautiful Jake."

" I knew you would like it. Made it with my own two hands. The sapphire came from my moms ring. Dad gave it to me when I turned sixteen. Told me to hang on to it. Bella thank you, you have no idea how happy you've made has been the best birthday ever."

"You have no idea how happy I am. But I think your birthday is about to get even better. "

It was then Bella handed him a small white paper bag.

"Bells?"

"Just open it." she gestured.

Jacob chuckled and pulled out the contents of the bag.

First was a pair of tiny blue shoes. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he pulled out the next item. It was a blue knitted onesie. That read Daddy's Boy, on the front.

It was then the dots connected. He looked at Bella for confirmation.

With shoulder hitched her to ear, she smiled at him awkwardly saying " Happy birthday Daddy"

He stared at Bella in utter shock as the night that changed everything replayed in his mind.

Flashback:

"Jake, you scared me! What the heck are you doing?" she asked as she stared at him from her window

"Scoot back, I'm coming up!"

The moment he entered her room, Jacob felt his wolf sit up.

"Bella …. Look.. I'm sorry." he began as he walked a little closer. She however stopped him with a fist to his abs.

"For what?" she asked bitterly.

Jacob felt betrayal fill the air as she looked at him. He had broken her, just like the bloodsucker.

"I wish I could explain but I literally can't." he breathed. Sam's alpha order coming over him like a chokehold.

He turned from her trying to calm his rage and just so happened to see the dream catcher he had given her hanging over her bed.

A primal instinct of protection fell over him as he recognized his scent mixed with hers.

He then turned back to her, desperation in his eyes.

"Have you ever had a secret you couldn't tell anyone?" he questioned" One that wasn't yours to share?"

She didn't respond but he saw understanding in her eyes.

"Well, that's what it's like for me. But worse, you have no idea how tightly I'm wound." he explained.

His body shuttered in pain as he tried to fight the alpha order. He hated this.

"I hate this," Bella said as she came to stand between his legs. She then gripped a fist full of his hair. "I hate what they have done to you!?"

Jacob gently untangled her hand from his hair, glancing down to see one thing. A vampire bite on her wrist.

Rage filled him as he stood up.

"And the killer part is that you already know. Bell do you remember the days we'd walk on the beach of La Push? The stories?"

"The stories about the cold ones?" she questioned

He shook his head.

"I guess that's the only part you would remember."

Jacob sighed deeply as he walked towards the window.

"There has to be something, anything we can do ?"

"no.I'm in this for life." he snarled.

Instead of being afraid she laid her hands on his chest.

"Maybe we should just get out of here for a while?" she suggested " we can leave ! just you and me!"

"You'd do that?" he asked in disbelief.

"I would do that for you." she stated confidently.

Jacob looked at her and shook his head. Coming closer, to pull her into a hug.

"You're too good for me, bells."

"And you're too good to me." she admitted as she threw her arms around his neck.

Jacob felt his wolf sit up again, as Bella's scent overtook him. She smelled delicious, She smelled like home.

"I have to go bell, so they don't come looking for me.." he said as she tried to pull away.

"Jacob kiss me." she begged him.

"W-what? Bella.. What?"

"Kiss. me." she asked him again.

This time Jacob didn't hesitate as he cupped her face and locked his lips around hers. Their moans synchronized at the same time, as Bella pulled him gently to the bed.

Before they knew it, clothes had been discarded and Jacob was hovering over her.

"Bells? Are you sure?"

"Please Jake… for the both of us."

She didn't have to tell him twice.

After three rounds, Bella was knocked out cold, Jacob however was wide awake.

Something primal and supernatural had taken place during their coupling. During their second round, Jacob had Bella on her knees, both moaning as he entered her on a deeper level. The overwhelming urge to bite her pushed itself forward as he sank his teeth into her shoulder. It was then he knew nothing would ever be the same.

End flashback

…..

I would wreck all of my plans

Drive until we hit the sands

Catch a sunburn while she tans

I would do, I would do

I'd do whatever she likes

Give her Christmas in July

She ain't gotta tell me twice

I would do, I would do anything

Oh, anything she says

Oh, anything she says

I would up and take a chance

Have a talk with her old man

Put a diamond on her hand

I would do, I'd do anything, yeah

"
