An hour later, they were making our way across a syrup bog, but since they were walking in syrup, they had some difficulty making their way across since their feet keep getting stuck.

The Sentinels were at the front of the group, followed by Flint, Chester, and Barb while Mirabel, Sam, Brent, Earl, Steve, and Manny in the back.

"Almost there, the FLDSMDFR should be just across this syrup bog," Flint said as he pointed to the other side.

"This is syrup? Syrup is my favorite," Brent smiled, but he slapped his face a moment later. "Darn mosquitoasts!"

"Don't worry, man baby. They, like all the other abominable food creatures will son be no more," Chester stated.

"Wait, guys!" Mirabel called, causing everyone to look at her. "What if we're making a big mistake?"

Chester's eyes narrowed as he asked, "Mistake?"

"About shutting off the machine, some of these creatures, they're….they're incredible!" Mirabel continued, smiling near the end.

"Incredibly dangerous! We were just attacked by a giant tacodile," Chester pointed out.

Flint nodded and replied, "He's right, Mira. I mean we were almost eaten by a cheesespider."

Sam decided to step in and said, "That doesn't mean we have to destroy all of them, some of the food's actually been…friendly."

"It is true, the dessert creatures are especially sweet," Manny agreed from behind them.

"Okay, maybe we-ah!" Flint was cut off when Barb slapped his face.

"Mosquitoast! Was gonna bite you," Barb explained.

"See? Even the tiniest creatures are attacking us," Chester pointed out as he flicked one of the mosquitoasts off Flint's invention.

Sam shrugged her shoulders as she explained, "The only reason they're biting is because of the drop of barometric pressure. Bugs do that before a storm and by the look of those nimbostratus clouds-"

"Miss Sparks, we are not talking about the weather, we are talking about food here. Dangerous food that does not have human emotion, food that is not friendly, food that cannot love!" Chester tried to deny Sam's claim, slapping Flint to keep away the mosquitoasts from touching him.

"Flint, we should be studying the food animals, not killing them," Sam firmly put her foot down.

"What if he's wrong?" Mirabel added.

After a moment of silence, Chester turned to Flint and said, "The choice is yours, son. Live up to your full potential or walk away and let the food monster destroy Lady Liberty."

Flint sighed, taking a few steps toward Mirabel and said, "Listen, Mira, finding the FLDSMDFR and saving the world, that's what matters."

Mirabel was about to reply, but Sam butted in and asked Flint, "Really? Our opinion doesn't matter?"

"Of course it does! Yes! Yes, it matters, but just…not right now," Flint tried to send a smile.

"Uh-oh," Brent spoke up.

"Wrong answer," Earl commented.

"Toast," Steve added.

"Yeah? Well, I guess this doesn't matter either, Young Lockwood!" Sam huffed with a glare, taking the plan of Sparkswood out of Flint's lab coat, pulling off the notepad thinkquanaut vest, before slamming it into his chest.

Flint funneled his eyebrows in confusion as Sam dropped the paper into the syrup.

"I'll see you back on the boat," Sam said as she turned around to walk away.

Mirabel stared at Flint and said, "I knew you were gonna betray again, my brain doesn't lie and my thoughts aren't a fraud, I-"

"Mirabel!" Sam called, cutting Mirabel off.

"Good luck, traitor," Mirabel disappointedly said to Flint as she turned to Sam and they walk away from him.

"Wait! Girls! Come back!" Flint called out to Mirabel and Sam as they walk away. "Hey, Earl, would you talk to them?"

"You bet I will. Hey, girls! Wait for me!" Earl yelled as Mirabel and Sam hear him follow them.

"Adiós. Sayonara. Goodbye, Señor Lockwood," Manny spoke, normally walking across the syrup, passing Sam and Mirabel.

"Bye, Flint," Brent waved.

"Steve," Steve jumped onto Manny's shoulder.

Heading back through the forest to get back to the boat, rain poured as thunder crashed all around them as Earl held up a giant leaf to stop the rain from hitting them, Brent was walking at the back of the group, Steve walked alongside Earl, Manny kept filming, and both Mirabel and Sam walk up the front of their little group.

"I can't believe Flint is still listening to that guy!" Sam ranted.

"Look, Sam, anyone can be dumb enough to listen to him, I'm starting to believe you," Mirabel replied.

"Flint is naive, it appears that he is being manipulated for some nefarious purpose," Manny stated as Sam rolled her eyes at the most obvious thing in the world.

"Of course he is!" Sam shouted at Manny, heading forward in the clearing while the others stop for some reason.

"Sam! Freeze!" Mirabel warned.

Sam turned around to look at them as she asked, "What?"

"Stay calm and walk toward me, slowly," Earl muttered.

"Very slowly," Brent added, hiding behind a plant.

"Oh, come on! Now you're acting weird, I'm in no mood for this!" Sam yelled.

Suddenly, Sam heard a roar behind her, causing her eyes to widen.

Turning around, Sam spotted the cheesespider behind her and she screamed just as it roared at her again, which caused her to trip and fall to the group.

The cheesespider continued roaring at Sam just before Earl jumped in front of her to protect her as Mirabel ran over to her to check if she was okay.

"Stop right there, cheese monster! Nobody eats my friends on my watch!" Earl yelled, dodging the cheesespider, who kept trying to take a bite out of him.

Getting an idea, Sam got up and walked past Earl as she said, "No, Earl, wait! Chester's been lying to us about these creatures and I am going to prove it."

Sam stood in front of the cheesespider, holding her hand out.

"Sam, don't do it!" Mirabel yelled.

"It's foodicide!" Earl added just as the cheesespider roared again.

But Sam did not listen, continuing to hold her hand up to touch it.

"Danger! Danger! Danger!" Steve cried.

"Nice cheesespider," Sam smiled, hesitantly placing my hand on the top bun.

The cheesespider seemed to lightly growl before…it licked Sam, causing her right side from top to bottom to be covered in mustard sauce.

Mirabel walked to Sam and asked, "Are you okay?"

Sam wiped the mustard and replied, "I'm fine, try it."

Mirabel was confused as Sam gently grabbed her hand and gently placed it on the cheesespider's bun.

The cheesespider licked Mirabel as she also got mustard on her side.

"Yellow!" Steve gasped.

"Dude! You girls got special-sauced!" Brent exclaimed.

Sam chuckled, watching the cheesespider happily pant while the others come over as she wiped the mustard off Mirabel and said, "It's okay, guys, see? She's not mean, she's just a little beefy."

The cheesespider looked over at Brent before it feel over onto her side.

"Woah, what's it doing?" Brent asked.

"I think it wants you to scratch her buns," Mirabel suggested.

"Aw, I like that too. Who's a good cheesespider? She's cute!" Brent cooed, scratching her buns for a few moments before hugging her.

"But why did she attack us before?" Earl questioned in confusion.

Looking up, Sam spotted their answer as she replied, "Because we were dressed like them."

Sam pointed to the giant cheese web above them, filled with L.I.V.E Corp stuff, which confused the others, especially Mirabel.

"What…?" Mirabel muttered, pulling out her phone to take photos of it.

"She doesn't like backpacks?" Brent guessed, but Manny shook his head.

"No, it appears she doesn't like L.I.V.E Corp. The food creatures know something…" Manny used his film camera to flip up a screen, showing the image of the company. "We do not."

Manny flipped the screen, showing the true intentions.

Everyone gasped in shock as Mirabel muttered to herself, "I hate to admit it, but that's smart."

"Who's Evel?" Brent asked, confused.

"Not Evel, Evil," Manny told them.

"I knew it! Chester's up to something terrible! We have to warm Flint!" Sam said.

Earl nodded and shouted, "Let's ride!"

He ran off, but did not even make it five feet before he was frozen.

Looking around, Mirabel and Sam spot the sentinels nearby.

"Run!" Sam shouted, but they freeze the cheesespider when she tried to attack them.

Brent was frozen a moment later and Manny was too, but not before they break his camera.

Seeing their numbers dwindling, Sam turned to Mirabel with an urgent expression on her face as she said, "Mirabel, run! Get back to the boat!"

Mirabel looked conflicted as she replied, "But, Sam-"

"Go!" Sam cut Mirabel off as she pushed her toward the forest.

Mirabel gave Sam one last nod before running into the forest as she blocked the path to make sure the Sentinels do not follow her.
