Chapter 9: Uzumaki Katsuyi
Kofa took a deep breath, trying to calm the tremor in his hands. He knew he couldn't lie to Kakashi, but he also wasn't sure how to explain what had happened. Without hesitating any longer, he said, "You see, I have a certain understanding with Hinata, and I know that strange eyes need chakra to activate. So, I figured Sasuke had never tried adding that chakra, and that's why I mentioned it to him. It's obvious; we all know that the Uchiha need a certain stimulus. Kofa stopped when he saw Katsuyi's blushing face looking at him and continued, "Not that kind of stimulus, I mean the stimulus of hate, anger, or sadness to achieve a certain level of stress, and with the help of chakra, the eye can be activated." He smiled to himself.
Kakashi looked seriously at Kofa and, after a moment, just nodded. He didn't forget to turn his head to look at Katsuyi with a raised eyebrow. He looked at Sasuke and asked, "Sasuke, why didn't you add chakra to your eyes?" At this question, Sasuke felt something was wrong and spoke, "When I thought about adding chakra or trying to awaken it, a feeling of forgetfulness filled my mind. It was as if some law of the world wouldn't let me do it," said the Uchiha with a serious face.
Kofa sighed internally and thought that the laws of the world were still written and functioning. Sasuke should have awakened the Sharingan after that night, but he didn't. It seems the plot was at work. A sudden chill ran through his body, and without hesitation, he turned in the direction where he felt it. What he saw was the almost hidden moon. "Toneri," he thought, swallowing hard.
Kakashi looked seriously into Sasuke's eyes and said, "It could possibly be some genjutsu from Itachi. Your brother is an expert and prodigy in illusion arts. He was also known as one of the greatest Uchiha with potential," he said, still serious and in a low voice.
Sasuke shuddered when he heard Itachi's name but tried to calm himself and act as if it didn't matter. With a final grunt, he walked away to join the other two.
Kakashi once again looked at everyone and smiled with his eyes before speaking, "Each of you will attack me solo, and then we'll see your teamwork skills. We'll start now. Katsuyi, come, you're first," he said, pulling out an orange book.
Katsuyi, with a cross seal, said, "Shadow Jutsu!" Several puffs of smoke appeared out of nowhere, and five identical Katsuyis ran to strike the jounin. Kakashi raised an eyebrow but said nothing and continued with his book.
Kakashi, without taking his eyes off his book, watched as Katsuyi charged at him with determination. With a quick movement, he dodged the first attack and blocked the second with his arm. Katsuyi didn't stop, continuing to attack with a series of quick and precise strikes.
"Interesting technique, Katsuyi," commented Kakashi, while performing a seal with one hand. "But you'll need more than speed to surprise me."
Katsuyi, undeterred, performed a hand seal and shouted, "Shadow Jutsu!" Several puffs of smoke appeared out of nowhere, and five identical Katsuyis ran towards Kakashi. Kakashi quickly scanned and saw the hidden Katsuyi, smiling. "There you are!" exclaimed Kakashi, disappearing in an instant and reappearing behind Katsuyi.
Before she could react, Kakashi performed his famous versatile technique: "A Thousand Years of Death!" Katsuyi's eyes widened, and she let out a surprised scream, flying forward and landing ungracefully on the ground with her rear still raised. Kakashi, with a smile on his lips, closed his book and put it in his pocket.
"Good try, Katsuyi," said Kakashi. "But remember, you must always be aware of your surroundings and your opponents. Always look below, from below," he said confidently. What he never expected was that suddenly several clones of Shadows emerged from the ground beneath his feet, and all of them successfully struck him, breaking through his guard. Strong blows sent him to the ground. Although he tried to react, he was outnumbered, and the confidence he felt was shattered along with his bleeding nose.
The Katsuyi who was lying on the ground disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Sasuke and Kofa, who were watching the scene, looked quite amazed. Kofa wasn't too surprised, remembering that in the anime, Naruto managed to break through Kakashi's defenses, but since he was a bit slow, he just stood there and never attacked. As a result, Kakashi took him down in a painful way that left him unable to sit for a thousand years. Fortunately, when they went out to eat after graduation, he kindly reminded him to be careful and not to get overconfident, and he gave him some advice that he seemed to have used very well.
At some point, Kakashi had managed to escape the violent and aimless attacks of the angry Uzumaki. Katsuyi's attacks had no pattern, making her very unpredictable. It's no wonder she's an elite jounin. Without losing his composure, he glanced sideways and smiled to himself; it seemed the daughter of his sensei was growing.
