Momo as she sat on one of her boxes, had come to realize that she had... miscalculated things.
And not simply misjudging the space of her dorm room either, she had clearly missed quite a few steps in her choice to pursue professional heroism.
Her reason to become a hero was not the most moving, but she thought that she could work past that, especially with the help of her tutors and the recommendation of one of the heroes that her parents worked for.
But already she could see that she was lagging in ways she had not accounted for.
Momo couldn't help thinking back to what happened only a few hours ago, she wasn't sure what had happened during the public exam but it was clear that there were some tensions between the class already.
Iida, someone she knew only in vague passing way that came frombeing in related social circles, who she thought was quite pleasant company initially.
But then Iida clearly offended more than a few members of their class from the way that both Bakugou and Uraraka had seemed to argue with Iida.
And from the multiple times Iida spoke up it made him feel like he was being... judgmental from how he tried to have one of their classmates punished based on how their quirk worked.
And when it came to the quirk assessment test, she may have put in the best of her effort but she had absolutely misread the situation.
She had been so sure that Deku-Sensei had only told them he'd expel last place because it was to motivate them.
But it was no idle threat, and her home room teacher was deadly serious.
The speech he gave them all down in the basement had only further showed Momo just how naive she had been about what kind of work she was choosing to get into.
She had no idea that there was an average number for how many students died the year they graduated from hero schools.
But it should have, heroes died in the line of duty, it was a sad but acknowledged fact that she knew since she was a child.
She had been five the first time her parents took her to a wake of a hero client that had passed.
It would only make sense that heroes with less training would be even more at risk of dying in the field.
And yet, it still shook her when Deku-Sensei spoke to the class about the fact heroics was no game, that she would be in just as much danger as the people she was going to save and that she was going into a such a dangerous field of work her personal safety could never be guaranteed.
Momo sniffed and placed her face into her hands.
Her desire to be a hero had not been changed, but Deku-Sensei had very coldly shaken a lot of the glamour of the role and been brutally honest with them about the reality of hero work.
She would need to do some more research, perhaps talking with either Deku-Sensei about where she could find more books to learn from, or maybe even Uraraka given how knowledgeable the girl had been of heroics herself.
She was a touch envious of her classmate if she was being honest.
Uraraka had already shown herself to have far more potential than Momo currently felt she had.
Uraraka had a cheerful demeanor and confidence Momo had tried to fake before during her parents business events, the girl didn't falter either and was easily outspoken when she believed someone crossed a line.
Not to mention Uraraka's steely will and creativity beyond just her own quirk.
Yes, Uraraka was clearly someone to consult with since she truly wished to continue pursuing heroics.
Calming herself down, Momo stood back up and looked over her room to see what needed to be done.
The paint had been finished, and she had put together her bed, though the frame of her bed showed her that she would likely need to send it back for a smaller version in order for her to have the rest of her things usable as well.
Which was a shame, she had wanted the comfort of her childhood bed to help ease her into living in this new place.
She could make a smaller temporary frame for the time in between so that she could put the rest of her things around the room.
Most of her things were still in their boxes on the empty bed frame, and would need to stay in place since there was no room currently.
Shaking her head, Momo checked the time.
In addition to her acceptance letter, she had received a second letter from U.A. explaining that due to her quirk she would be asked to go through a series of medical tests by the school nurse and a quirk counselor to ensure a safe baseline for her to work with in the future.
Her parents were a touch huffy over it, they spent quite a bit of money to get her the best of county's quirk counseling, but she understood why they asked for this.
Using her quirk daily for hero work would be very different and the school was being careful and not taking any risks in their students' health.
It was closer to three than she thought so she got out her P.E. uniform and changed into it, she would be doing some physical tests from what her experience told her and she wanted to put forward a better prepared front.
Looking herself in the mirror she put her hair back up and then placed some water bottles and density bars in her bag before walking out of her room.
Upon leaving Momo was a touch surprised when she saw that Tokage was also leaving her room as well, dressed also in her P.E. uniform.
"Oh, guess you're going too huh?" Tokage said after blinking a couple times.
"Yes, medical tests for your quirk?" Momo guessed, she wasn't sure how Tokage's quirk worked exactly but she could understand why it required some more testing.
Tokage's body could part itself at will and fly, something like that would need to have a few tests at least.
Tokage's smile twitched and she quickly looked away from Momo.
"Y-Yeah, you too?" she asked looking much more uneasy now.
Oh, she had misjudged something again.
She didn't understand why Deku-Sensei had been so vague about why he'd be taking a few of the students for some medical tests. Even at the private all-girls school she went to it wasn't uncommon to hear about people leaving for a medical appointment.
But clearly, some students like Tokage were not comfortable with discussing such things openly.
"Yes, given how my quirk could affect my health I totally understood why. Still though I'm glad to have someone I know somewhat there as well." Momo said trying to move the conversation away from the testing itself.
"Oof, yeah it'd be super awkward if there was just a bunch of 1-B people there." Tokage commented as they started walking to the stairs and elevator.
"Speaking of which congratulations on getting in, you did very well during the exam." Momo told the girl, only for her to again give Momo an awkward grin.
"Thanks Yao, you were kicking too you know," Tokage told her, and Momo barely had the time to file away the new slang term or the sudden nickname Tokage used before the girl hesitantly held her back.
"But would you mind keeping the fact I got in through recommendations on the down low? I don't want to really go around advertising it." Tokage quietly asked her.
Momo felt embarrassed, her parents had given her a lot of teaching about how to avoid stepping on social line mines in conversation, yet she still managed to step on two in as many minutes.
"Of course, Tokage if that's what you want I won't tell anyone." Momo promised.
Tokage seemed to melt with relief after that.
"Thank you, I know it probably sounds weird to hide something like that and that it'll get out eventually but-" Tokage said beginning a justification no doubt but Momo cut her off by taking her hands.
"You don't need to explain yourself Tokage, if it makes you uncomfortable, that's all I need to know." Momo assured the girl.
Tokage looked so grateful and breathed out a massive sigh like a weight was off her shoulders.
"Seriously thank you Yao, and you can call me Suna if you want." Tokage told her sharp grin looking much better now.
Momo felt a touch flustered, she had not been able to make any friends outside of her parents' business partners before, having been much too busy with all of her extra studies and extracurricular activities.
Even then she hadn't traded nicknames with any of them.
"I would be happy to Suna." Momo replied with a small amount of trepidation, wondering if this was how people started making friends when they didn't have previous connections.
"Great, now let's go. We wouldn't want to keep Deku-Sensei waitin'." Tokage told her before she started walking again turning the corner of the hall and pausing.
"Oh, hey Hagakure, did you get a letter too or?" Tokage asked while Momo came around the corner and Momo saw floating pair of clothes and it took her a moment to remember that must be their invisible classmate.
"Wait it's three already? Dang I didn't realize, uh do you think that Deku-Sensei would mind if I come down like this?" Hagakure asked a touch worried as she presumably looked herself over from how her clothes moved.
Hagakure was wearing white elbow length shirt and knee length jeans, with a pair of sneakers.
"Yeah, you look fine, as long as you can move freely in it then you should be fine." Tokage told Hagakure, waving one of her hands dismissively.
"Yes, what you are wearing should not be any problem. Would you like to wait with us by the door Hagakure?" Momo offered.
"Sure! How's the move going for you guys by the way? I just got everything where I think I want it before putting everything away." Hagakure inquired.
Tokage huffed leaning slightly to the side.
"You've done more than me then, it took me forever to figure out how put together that bed frame I got." Tokage answered, keeping her eyes closed.
Momo looked away embarrassed and bit the tip of her thumb, considering whether to tell them about her own problems in moving in, before deciding it would only be fair considering how she stumbled with Tokage earlier.
"I am afraid that I hadn't been able to do much myself, I... misjudged how much floor space there would be in our dorm rooms." Momo confessed one hand pressed to her cheek.
Tokage smiled back at her and pat her on the shoulder.
"Don't worry, it can't be that bad. Plus, I won't mind coming by to help you out, I mean we won't start proper until next Monday, so we have time to figure things out." Tokage offered easily.
"Oh, I can help too! I don't mind helping." Hagakure added cheerfully.
Momo couldn't help looking at the two of them, again feeling touched by the freely given offers of help from the two girls.
They were all hero students yes but she had not expected to be making friends so quickly or to be on such good terms with her classmates within a single conversation.
"Thank you both, I would love your help, though I think I shall most likely need to get a new bedframe and mattress." Momo told them.
A ding came from the elevator and the door opened a second later revealing quite a few of their classmates inside.
Namely Kaminari, Shinsou, Kirishima and the Tokoyami twins.
"Hi, you guys going to wait for Deku-Sensei?" Kirishima guessed with a bit of a chuckle and a wave.
"Yep! Guess we're all going as a big group then huh?" Tokage commented as the three of them got into the elevator with them.
"Sort of, I'm mainly going with Shinsou for support and I think Shishida's already waiting down there as well." Kirishima informed them.
Shinsou scowled at the sharp-toothed boy and punched him on the shoulder.
"Love you too bro." Kirishima said with a laugh.
