Chapter 34: The Homecoming Dance!
2 days before the dance...
"Alright girls, ready for some formal shopping?" Colette asked them.
"Oh yeah! I wanna look beautiful and formal." said Nichelle.
"Same thing!" said Miyumi.
"Let's get sexy for the dance!" said Lucia as the girls cheered and laughed together. Except for Emma who's still feeling down from what happened between her and Kappei.
"Hey Emma. Why the long face?" Maeve asked.
"Oh...it's nothing. Don't worry about me." She replied.
"Is it about Kappei?"
"Uh...no."
"Oh come on Emma! The whole class knew that you got this thing going around with him. You're head over heels for him aren't you?" Anais spoke in as the rest gathered around.
Emma on the other hand was too nervous on how to reply back when, "Come on girls. We're on a tight schedule so best to prepare for the dance as early as possible. After we do some shopping, we're going for a movie night!" Colette told the girls and all headed to the clothing store including Emma.
A couple of minutes later, the 11 girls are seen checking out the dresses as some of them discussed with Colette about their attire.
"She's known to the fashionista for our class." Emma thought as she looked around and she found something dazzling in beauty. "Wow...I like this dress!" She thought as she admired it when, "Oh my gosh! That dress looks perfect for you Emma! Go and try it on!" Colette encouraged her.
"You think so?" She asked.
"Trust me on this one! My keen sense of fashion will make you dazzle in the spotlight!" Colette assured to her.
It now cuts to the fitting room and Emma emerged out. She wore a sexy, sparkling emerald green dress as the girls ooh at her dazzling appearance. The dress reaches down to her ankles and there's a pink sash tied around her waist. The dress is also strapless as the other girls complimented her.
"Looking good Emma!" said Chantelle.
"It fits you perfectly!" said Midori
"Goes well with her diamond earrings." said Ting Ting.
"She's definitely gonna win the Homecoming Queen!" said Maeve.
"Damn girl! You're gonna melt Kappei's heart soon enough!" said Vega.
"If only he can see me..." She thought as she looked in the mirror. She really is beautiful in that dress and with that, she decided to buy it.
And after that, the 11 girls went to sing karaoke for an hour and after that, drink smoothies with Miyumi treating them.
The day of the dance and in the afternoon...
"Sigh...after what happened, I still feel like I can never patch up the open wound between us..." A depressed Kappei spoke to himself as he lay on his bed. He's been in his dorm for some time only coming out for mealtimes. He didn't even feel like going out. Well at least after the tournament, no classes for the rest of the term until summer vacation where the real fun begins. And then, he heard a door knock as he went to answer it.
Outside, "Hey mate. Excited for the dance?" Davis asked.
"Maybe. Maybe not...ah what am I saying?" Kappei closed the door but Davis put his foot forward. "Something bothering you mate?"
"Sigh...it has nothing to do with you."
"Ah, ah, ah. I ain't leavin' until you talk with me mate."
Sighing again, Kappei let him in as, "Can you keep this between us?"
"No problem mate. So what is it that's been bothering you now?" Davis as he sat his chair and Kappei sat on his bed and told him everything.
"Oh...bummer...that was...unexpected..." Davis exclaimed.
"I know right? I'm such a fool for saying this. I wish I...I wish I can think of something..." Kappei sighed as he started to cry.
"Mate. Don't cry. Look at me." Kappei wiped his tears as he looked at Davis.
"I must say, you really are a fool for being a crappy person to Emma but you still got time to patch it up. I know for sure, you apologize to her sincerely, she'll forgive and who knows, you might win her heart."
"What?"
"You don't know mate?" Davis was so perplexed at this so, "I'll explain the last part in a more understanding way, Emma is in love with you." This made Kappei gasp. "Yeah you heard me. One time when me, Vega and Maeve are hanging out at Malishido Mall, the girls told me how Emma feels for you. I mean, you both met at the WNA Academy in Eagle City right?"
He nodded as, "Emma also once told the girls during one of their hangouts that it began during a tournament block where you heroically saved her. After that, she began to feel something for you and it grew as the years go by and when we began high school, it became a monster crush on you."
"No way..." Kappei thought and was speechless as, "I'll let you think about it. In the meantime, I gotta pick up my best suit at the mall before the dance tonight." Davis told him.
"Who are you going to the dance with?"
"Vega."
"Heh. That's nice." Kappei told him as, "You're going to the dance right?" Davis asked.
"Hmmm...that depends on my mood." He replied.
"Alright mate. Hope to see you there tonight." Davis left his dorm and after that, "Was he right? Emma loves me this whole time?" Kappei started to ponder about it but in an instant, he became tired and took a nap.
That night...
In the gymnasium, all the students are gathered for the dance. Boys wearing tuxes and girls wearing sexy dresses as they mingled together.
For Emma, she just arrived wearing the same dress that she tried on before with red pump shoes as she walked around. Already, many of the boys noticed her appearance and are lovestruck.
"Yo girl. Wanna dance with me?" Gunner approached her first and, "ZIP!"
"Hey there! Care to be my dance partner?" The older twin brother, Reiji showed up when, "ZIP!"
"Step aside bro, I'm gonna dance with her!" The younger twin brother, Reiki made his move and the next thing it happened, several more boys joined in and they argued among themselves. They never knew Emma was able to sneak off as, "Emma! Over here!"
Near the refreshment table, Vega and Maeve are there calling for her. Now for their attire, Vega wore a purple dress with 2 bracelets on her wrists each and Maeve wore a cyan dress with a necklace. Both girls are also wearing black pump shoes. "Glad you can make it." Maeve told her. "And you really look like a model with style."
"Thanks." Emma thanked her as Vega gave her a cup of fruit punch. "Where are the boys?" She asked as she sipped her drink.
"They're hanging around anywhere. Some of our female peers are chatting with the other girls from the other classes and Anais is spinning records again." Maeve told her and their classmate is seen working on the turntable enjoying the beats. She wore an electric blue dress that reaches to her knees with a belt.
And then, "Hey ladies." Archie called out as he, Cruz, Davis and Jeong joined the 3 girls. They're wearing sleek tuxes as, "Hey...Kappei ain't here with you guys?" Maeve asked.
"Huh...I spoke with him this afternoon. He said he might come. Hoepfully if he's in a good mood." said Davis.
"Hope so." Cruz whispered to Jeong and he nodded.
"Is Kappei alright or something?" Vega asked.
"He'll be." Davis replied.
"Are you lying?"
"Vega, what's with the questions?" He asked.
"Something must have happened to him right? And is it between him and Emma?"
"No!" He replied with the other 3 boys nodding with him.
"Hey Emma. Anything to say about this?" Maeve asked.
"Um...nothing. He'll come eventually. I believe he will..." Emma replied as the boys went to snack on the refreshment table. There's tempura, mini sausages with a strip of bacon wrapped around it, roast potatoes, chargrilled chicken drumlets, coleslaw in cups, a chocolate fountain with a bowl of marshmallows, butter cookies and oatmeal bars and finally, a bowl of fruit punch which is refillable.
There's also a photo booth for couple shots and a ballot where students can place their votes on who gets to be the Homecoming King and Queen.
Meanwhile...
Back at his dorm, Kappei is still asleep in his nap when Gumchi entered the dorm holding onto some book. Waking up from hearing his presence, "Shoot...it's 8pm...how long did I sleep?" He asked himself as, "Oh hey Gumchi, what is that?"
"Bookee! Bookee!" He answered as he handed it to Kappei. "Wait a minute...this is a school yearbook! How did you get your hands on it?"
"Teachee! Teachee!"
"Oh...you wanted to read something and Sensei Tatsu just gave it to you?" He asked. Gumchi nodded as he sat on his bed while Kappei went to get a can of cola. As he opened it and had a drink, he sat beside Gumchi as he flipped through the first few pages. "Interesting..." Kappei then read a bit with Gumchi and then, flipped through a few more pages and is pretty impressed when he noticed something unusual, "Wait a minute..."
There was photo of a group students in the Technology Club. Among them, a girl that almost resembles Coral is in there. Kappei looked closer for a moment. And then, he took out a photo of her that he got during one of their hangouts. Comparing them, "No way...how can this be?!"
"Kappee? Confusee?" Gumchi asked.
"Emma's right about her...what if..." He then heard something from the school as, "Trouble...Gumchi, we have to go!"
"Okee! Okee!" He replied as they hurried their way.
Back at the dance...(It happened at the same time Kappei started reading that yearbook)
"Another year has passed. Everyone will move on with the seniors graduating and the rest moving up to the next school year." Principal Bingram announced through the mike on the microphone stand. "To begin with, I have the Student Council President, Coral Grayman to come on stage to give us a speech about the school year. Yes, and she just got onstage to do so. Thank you."
Everyone applauded for her as she went to the front. She wore a long, black dress with a decorative belt in which there are jewels embedded on it with a big diamond on the center.
"Dudes. She dresses simply and yet, she's still a hot chick." A sophormore told his peers and they agreed gleefully.
Now onstage, "Thank you Principal Bingram and firstly, this school year is a blast! Don't you all agree?" Coral asked as many cheered with her. "I know? We had fun studying, hanging out, training and we even had time for school events like the Sports Festival and the recent Ninjala Tournament. "
Everyone cheered some more and applauded in excitement as Coral smiled and continued on. "In fact, to celebrate the end of the school year, I have come up with something special for everyone."
This amazed the whole crowd as she smiled about it...

But suddenly, her smile disappeared and she got serious with an angry frown as she pressed the embedded diamond on her belt and a technological transformation took effect. The dress hardened into metal and it reshaped itself around her and seconds later, all can see her wear an armoured battlesuit that sealed her completely as she pressed a button on her left gauntlet.
In the center of the stage, a machine in the shape of a cube emerged from below as electricity crackled about and it's powering up at the same time.
"What the frick is going on..." Cruz asked.
One answer, trouble...
Uh-Oh...Coral's true colours have been unveiled. What a shocking twist for the whole school now.
What happens next? Will Kappei realize the truth between himself and Emma?
And that dress Emma picked suits her perfectly! But no put that aside, trouble has brewed in school and more will be revealed in the next chapter. See ya!
