In the Dark light common room of Slytherin a young dark haired boy watched as an immoral blond snickered with his peers. Abraxus's deplorable display at dinner in the Great Hall with the Beckford girl caused Tom's blood to curl. It reminded him of how the older muggle children at the Orphanage treated him. From watching the Ravenclaw he met on the train, he noted that she seemed to be nice to those who treated others with kindness. But anytime Malfoy approached her she would curl her lips into a sneer that did not go with the natural jeweled eyes she had been given. She hadn't spoken a bad word against his blood status as others have in the school and in his own house. Many have sneered at him once he got to the common room that first night.
The Slur MUDBLOOD was one he learned quickly from Malfoy. Tom didn't believe he was a typical muggle born student as he can communicate with snakes and as much as he had seen in classes, those who are considered Pure couldn't even handle a simple charm that was to levitate an object. Tom wanted to find his bloodline if it coincided with one of a pure family, then maybe he could get out of that dark gloomy Orphanage he always lived.
Flash Back;
As Tom hid in the furthest corner of the library away from other's prying eyes, he was reading a book on bloodlines. He had been looking into it since the first day of classes as to prove to the other Slytherins that he wasn't a lowly Mudblood. Deep in thought he hadn't noticed the presence of another in the corner until a voice pulled him from his reading and thought.
"Tom, if you're looking into your bloodline the easiest way in the Lineages Potion. It's simple to brew but the ingredients are difficult to picure at our age." A soft voice spoke as someone sat across the table from him.
Looking up he found the Cardia Beckford had joined him. She pulled out her own books and parchment and sat them on the table.
"It's rude to sit at ones table with out asking Beckford." Tom said evenly hiding his surprise.
"And it's rude to call one by their last name when one has permission to use another's first name Tom." She smiled at him.
Tom blinked at her, he knew that she had given him permission to call her Cardia on the train when she said they should be friends. Tom being how he is didn't believe that she would be friends with him. Given Mrs. Cole had always steered children away from him stating that he was not the sort that they would want to be friends with.
"Well Beckford I've thought you would go back on your word as your not to friendly with others in my house." He raised an eyebrow at her.
"That's not true, I'm good friends with Alphrad Black and Lissanna Greengrass who are Slytherins along with you." She blinked at him reminding him of an owl.
"But not those like Malfoy, Nott, Parkinson, Crabbe or Goyle."
"They are vile and nasty to those that they think them better then." She pushed her nose into the air.
"Malfoy seems to have it in for you Miss. Beckford." Tom looked back at his book.
"It's Cardia, Tom; and he doesn't like me due to some extreme displays of accidental magic and other occurrences when he opens that Ferret mouth of his." Cardia rolled her eyes.
The two students worked on their own things until Tom came across what Cardia had mention at the beginning of their earlier conversation.
The Lineage potion shows the family tree of ones origin's in the magical world. Those who created the potion wanted a way to confirm or disprove those who claim to be of ones family. The potion was also used to prove infidelity if ones Heir was doubted to be a true heir to a family. The wizard who created the potion was Sir Louis Andre Beckford, son of the French Lord when doubt had been casted on his Heir. None before could prove that those who claimed to be of the blood where of the blood. But once the potion was created many had begun to use the potion to their families benefit.
"Beckford, you said that the Lineage potion was simple to make correct." He asked as he eyed her while she worked on transfiguration's essay that Professor McGonagall had given then that day.
"Tom, I'll answer you when you call be Cardia." She spoke not looking up from her essay.
Rolling his own eyes at her; "Cardia, the lineage potion is easy to make right?" He asked.
"Well, it is Tom. It's just a bit difficult to pecure the ingredients with out anyone gaining suspicion of what one is doing." She looked up from her essay.
"Why is that?"
"Well because back in the 14th or 15th century PureBlood Families where beginning to use it to weed out, or in many cases kill those who where bastards of a family or kill those who claimed to be of ones family and it turned out to be incorrect. SO the Ministry had out-lawed the potion." She explained.
"How would one be able to brew said out-lawed potion?" Tom asked feeling disappointed.
"Well if one was a Potion's master who have permission to brew it with their Mastery or if your very careful when purchasing ingredients. Many potions have one or two of the ingredients that are found in the potion." Cardia spoke as she began to work on her essay once more.
"Great, now I have to come up with the money to buy more ingredients to cover up what I'm doing." Tom muttered to him self.
"Well, I could ask my father who has a mastery in potions." Cardia heard his muttering.
"I thought he was an Alchemist?" Tom asked.
"He is, after he finished his Alchemist Mastery, he began his Potions Mastery since Alchemy and Potions go almost hand in hand as a Charms Mastery and Ancient Runes Mastery go together for Cure Breaking."
"Why would he do such a thing?" Tom asked as his eye brows drew together at his inner thoughts.
"Because you're a friend and I want to help." Cardia laughed at the ridiculousness of the question.
End of flash back.
Tom watched as Abraxus bragged about showing Beckford that everyone had to grow up and leave childish things at home when coming to Hogwarts. Tom had known that Cardia had brought with her a special stuffed animal that her Uncle had given her to help her not feel homesick while away. Abraxus had found a way to get said belonging from Ravenclaw tower.
"I cant believe you where able to get Milly Umbridge to get that stupid thing for you." Nott Laughed.
"From what I heard Milly isn't a fan of the Beckford girl, said she sides with those of lesser blood." Crabbe said with a sneer.
"Maybe Beckford will learn to not be so vocal about her views or cause us much embarrassment." Parkinson added.
"I wanted to give the stupid girl a taste of her own medicen. After that last Christmas party last year I've been waiting to do something to her in retaliation. Hearing Umbridge wine about the stupid doe stuffed animal Beckford would leave on her bed was the perfect idea. And causing the stupid girl to cry infront of the whole school was better." Abraxus Laughed.
Tom indeed watched as Abraxus stood behind Cardia that night after the toad faced girl in Ravenclaw gave him the stuffed animal before he entered the Great Hall. Once Abraxus had gotten the girls attention, he took glee in having the girl beg for her beloved stuffed animal. After some of the older years had begun telling him to give it to her, Tom watched as the boy tossed the toy up into the air, pulled out his wand and casted Bombarda at the falling toy. The spell caused the stuffed animal to be blasted into oblivion. This caused the girl to run out of the Great Hall crying as others laughed at her.
"Soon everyone will know that the Heiress of the Beckford house is a crybaby." Nott stood up stretching.
Tom had already placed snakes in the beds of all the boys except Blacks who stood up to Malfoy for what he had done. He planned to also turn Malfoy into an Albino Rat and leave him to the will of the snakes. Tom didn't like it when those he considered his to be treated like that.
