Chapter 1: Embers of a Legacy
Author's Note: Welcome to the first chapter of this new Naruto fanfic! This story follows Katsuro Uchiha, a survivor of the Uchiha Clan who is determined to surpass Sasuke. The evening sky burned in streaks of deep orange and crimson, fading into the indigo of an approaching night. Katsuro Uchiha sat on the rooftop of his small apartment, watching the sun sink below the horizon. The wind carried the distant laughter of children playing in the streets, their carefree voices a stark contrast to the quiet solitude he had come to know.
He brushed a strand of black hair from his face, his crimson eyes—no, not yet crimson. Not yet the Sharingan. Just dark, empty pools that reflected the sky. He exhaled slowly, fingers tightening into a fist.
For all his training, all his efforts, he was still weak.
Below, the streets of Konoha bustled with life. Vendors closed their stalls, shinobi returned from missions, and civilians hurried home for dinner. Katsuro had spent years blending into this world, hiding his lineage, knowing that he was the last of the Uchiha besides Sasuke. Unlike Sasuke, however, he had no legendary brother to push him toward greatness, no prodigious talent that set him apart. He had nothing but his ambition.
And yet, ambition alone would never be enough.
He needed power. Strength. He needed to become something more than a relic of a dead clan.
The academy was his first step.
Tomorrow, he would begin his training in earnest, and though the village saw him as nothing more than another orphan, he would make sure they all remembered his name.
Not as the last Uchiha.
But as the strongest.
