Jack Morningstar is the Hellborn Prince of Hell, an assassin of at I.M.P and one of the main protagonists of Helluva Boss.
He is the son of Lucifer Morningstar and the estranged queen, Lilith and the twin brother of Charlie. He is the husband of the Queen of Gluttony, Beelzebub, and best friend of Vortex, with whom he attends his wife's parties in his spare time.
Appearance:
Jack greatly resembles Lucifer in physical appearance, yet is taller than his father and sister and is just as tall as Alastor and has slim-build and grey-toned skin. He has light blonde hair like the rest of his family and has always kept it short. Like his father and sister, his eyes are a light yellow sclera with red irises with small pupils. Jack also has the same teeth as Charlie, possessing two sets of white fangs on each side of his mouth while the rest are all white straight teeth.
Jack typically wears black businessman clothing, wearing a black collar shirt with black suspenders and black pants and black shoes, along with a black tie. He wears a black business jacket when out on missions or outings, but is seen with it off when either at home or in the office at I.M.P.
Full Demon:
When in his full demon, a pair of red devil horns protrude from his head and his eyes change to have black sclera with red slit pupils. His teeth also change into yellow fangs. His fingers grow black claws and he grows a red pointy tail.
Jack commonly assumes this form to intimidate his targets, but he often assumes this form whenever he is angered or frustrated.
Personality:
Jack is genuinely polite and kind-hearted. Much like Moxxie, he has best knowledge of weapons and other equipment. He is also knowledgeable of various forms of magic and enjoys sharing his knowledge with his colleagues. However, he tends to over-explain his knowledge, which tends to annoy his colleagues. Although confident and self-assured, Jack is not without insecurities, particularly due to being a Prince of Hell making it difficult to remain anonymous from many demons and in the face of his parents' separation has made things difficult for him and his sister, but mainly keeps them hidden and only shows them to those who he loves and trusts, such as Vortex, Charlie and Beelzebub.
Despite being high-class demon, Jack is very sympathetic towards lower-class demons and treats them as eqauls, even becoming close friends with a few, such Vortex, Loona, Millie and Moxxie. These beliefs are also shared with his sister. He is shown contempt to other high-class demons who think themselves above others, such as some of the Deadly Sins and some of the Goetia Demons. His wife, Beelzebub, and Asmodeus are the only two Deadly Sins who agree with his beliefs.
Jack generally gets along well with most people, as seen with Millie, Moxxie and Loona. However, he is above not expressing his dislike for people who have crossed him or have annoyed him too much. Though Jack doesn't dislike Blitzo, he is annoyed by his tendencies to invade other people's private lives, particularly Millie's and Moxxie's and often his own private time with Beelzebub.
Although he enjoys his work as an assassin, Jack greatly dislikes collateral damage and unnecessary killings, believing that such actions would draw unnecessary attention. Unlike Moxxie, he has no issue with the idea of killing targets who have families, however, he hates domestic abusers or families have dark secrets. He is particularly fond of killing mobsters, gang members and politicians, meanly because he loves the chaos it creates and enjoys sowing fear and disorder in his targets. While he is not overly concerned with the reasons why I.M.P's clients hire them, he has expressed distain toward clients who hired them to kill an ex-lover for petty reasons.
Jack's relationship with his family is very complicated, he has a close relationship with Charlie. Despite his skepticism about his sister's dreams in rehabilitating sinner demons, he is nonetheless understands her reasons for wanting to help sinners as he also believes the yearly exterminations are a senseless waste and is supportive of her efforts and hopes she succeeds. He also appreciates her sunny optimism and idealisms, claiming that she is one of a kind and appreciates her for who she is. While he is aware of Charlie's disapproval for his profession as an assassin, the two siblings remain close and stay in touch, particularly because both feel they need each other to help cope with their parents' separation.
Although his colleagues are aware he is Lucifer's son, Jack was initially secretive about his marriage to Beelzebub and never gave his colleagues any personal details of her identity, mainly out of fear that they (Especially Blitzo) would take advantage of his marriage to a Deadly Sin to call in unnecessary favours. It wasn't until "Queen Bee" that they eventually learned the identity of his wife.
Jack is shown to be very happy with his marriage and enjoys his activities with his wife, both sexually and romantically and enjoys her parties. He greatly loves Beezlebub and cares a great deal about her. The two are highly affectionate with each other and enjoy being in each other's company. This happy and healthy relationship has occasionally stoked the envy of some of the other characters, such as Stolas, who was very unhappy with his own marriage due to Stella's abuse and cruelty, and Blitzo, who has loneliness issues and craves for the healthily relationships his employees have.
