"Why do I have late fees from the library, I thought you guys took the books back, wait how did they get scorched." Maddie asked making Knuckles scowl at Tails playing with his new drone pet makijg Sonic sigh, it wasn't Tails's fault the books got scorched seeing Tails wonder, what was going on.

"They got wrecked fighting this robot in the junkyard and that's what happened to those books." he told Maddie while they were in the kitchen helping her with Thanksgiving stuff making Knuckles sigh, punching the cupboard door in anger making Sonic shake his head as Tom entered from work seeing what Knuckles was doing.

"We need to chill Knuckles out, you know." Maddie whispered to him.

"How're you gonna chill him out, he adores you." Sonic whispered back.

"We'll figure something out, like getting you in school." Maddie replied.

It was a few days before Thanksgiving, so the family were preparing for Rachel, her husband and JoJo were visiting which made Tom and Sonic along with Tails excitable only Knuckles was unsure of them, even though Tom and Maddie said that Rachel was family even if she was still getting used to them, plus trying to get Sonic and Tails into school plus Maddie was teaching Knuckles to make family recipes which was helping him feel like he was part of the family.

"It's okay guys, I guess keeping Green Hills safe from a robot is more important than returning books to the library." Maddie replied makijg Sonic relieved only Knuckles was quiet going to his room slamming the door making Tom frown.

"Sorry guys, Unit scorched the books, but he's good now, we're helping him with his poetry." Tails told them makijg Sonic get it, he was learning to be responsible so Unit was helping Tails learn this like what he'd told him at the junkyard after converting Unit from bad to good, noticing Ozzy needed a walk.

"I'll do it guys, as Maddie was busy and you were at work." Sonic told Tom and Maddie putting the dog on the leash before leaving the house, relieving Tom that he was showing good example to Tails saying Rachel and her family were coming in a few days making Tails wonder something, involving travelling using the rings seeing Tom impressed by his thinking.

"We use them in emergencies remember, and don't think Rachel would want to do that." Maddie told him as she was making dinner for everybody hoping Knuckles was okay going upstairs to check on Knuckles opening the door seeing him surprised she was up here.

"Sorry I was just upset about what happened to thebooks, and thought you were mad at me or disappointed as you trusted me to get the sacred tomes back to the library and I failed, thanks to that detour through the junkyard." he said lookijg away from her feeling her hug him.

"Awww it's okay, it was a mistake, they happen plus nobody's perfect." she told him.

"I guess Maddie, just getting used to things here, Sonic seems adjusted here." he said making her understabd goijg back downstairs telling Tom things were okay relieving him along with Tails seeing Sonic return with Ozzy.

Plus she was going to check on Knuckles seeing him looking away from her.

"I'm just upset about what happened to those books, as you trusted me with the sacred tomes and they got destroyed by that detour through the junkyard, I thought you'd be upset or disappointed." Knuckles told her.

"It'sokay, mistakes happen besides nobody's perfect." she replied.

It was a few days later and before Thanksgiving so Tom saw Maddie go pick her sister and her family up from the airport making Tom sigh, because the last few days had been crazy with tidying the house to get ready for guests seeing Sonic watching shows like usual which was keeping him quiet guessing Knuckles and Tails were still sleeping as things would be intresting.

"Are you okay, Tom, why so nervous about Rachel coming for Thanksgiving." Sonic asked Tom as he'd gotten up and watching shows on TV he always watched every morning.

"The holidays make everybody stressed,, Sonic plus Maddie wants help with cooking so Knuckles should help and Tails is getting Unit to help." Tom replied to him makijg breakfast for everybody.
