"Shadow you okay, you don't look so hot." Sonic said to Shadow.
It was a few days later and morning only Sonic noticed Shadowwas not himself but was hiding it from their family only he couldn't hide how he was feeling from Sonic feeling terrible unaware he had a bad summer cold, needing help knowing he was being tough knowing that was more Knuckle's job, letting the black-purple male lean on him finding Maddie noticing Shadow wasn't himself despite his protests seeing Sonic glare at him because he cared about him and his health was important needing to get his point across to him.
"I care about you and would hate to see anything happen to you, because you're trying to be tough as we already have Knuckles for that, I just want my Shadow to be okay." he told him seeing him relenting and letting Maddie check him out diagnosing him with a bad cold saying he needed to rest seeing him frowning sneezing which made a worried look cross Sonic's face helping him upstairs and to his attic-room.
"Ugh, I feel terrible, is this what this cold thing does to you." he said coughing a lot making Sonic get him something to drink seeing Knuckles doing weights sighing and was heading to the kitchen, seeing Maddie understand helping him, finding it sweet he was helping Shadow feel better knowing he couldn't do any police shifts until he felt better realising this frowning knowing Shadow loved being an officer of the Green Hills Police Force.
"Thanks Maddie, as he's feelijg terrible and in bed." Sonic replied taking the flask and goijg back upstairs to Shadow's room opening the door gently, realising Shadow had fallen asleep knowing that rest also helped with being sick hearing him feverishly talking mentioning Robotnik washere to capture them, and wreck Green Hills stunning Sonic.
"Hey it's alright, you just have a fever, let me cool you down." Sonic reassured him putting a cold cloth on his black-purple furred head which would bring down the fever hearing him sneezing making him frown tucking him into bed.
He was letting him be, going downstairs to see what everybody else was up to and saw a baseball game was on the radio in the kitchen listening to it while having a snack sitting at the table, making Maddie smirk, asking how Shadow was feeling.
"He had a fever but I helped cool it down." he replied to her softly.
"That's good as he's becoming part of the community, and our family." she told him seeing him smile at her words.
It was true that at first, the others had been wary of Shadow being part of their family but now he'd shown his real self, they'd warmed Up to him and now he'd became a police officer, he was becoming part of the community realising they were supposed to hang out tonight guessing it would have to wait.
"It's okay Soni as I don't want you getting sick too." he told him sniffling.
"It's worth it buddy." Sonic replied to Shadow sitting beside him on the couch.
"Mmmm, the ice-cream's really good, will Tom and Maddie be mad, as they went out for dinner." Shadow said coughing as Sonic nodded.
They were on the floor of the living-room on a picnic-rug as this had been Sonic's idea because Tom and Maddie were out having a date-night so they were having an indoor-picnic and Shadow had a blanket wrapped around him, which was keeping him warm plus had tissues.
"Yeah, it is, plus Knuckles and Tails are doing their own things outside." Sonic said drinking an Icee making Shadow grin, because he loved being around Sonic feeling happy despite being dosed-up plus surprised that Sonic wasn't grossed out hearing him explaining he'd gotten sick after a snow-day.
"How you describe snow-days sounds wonderful." Shadow said seeing Sonic's cheeks go pink at his words which Shadow found adorable surprising him, telling Shadow more stories as Tails had returned from searching for invention-materials knowingTom and Maddie would be relieved returning seeing this.
