Shadow looks tired, really tired and has his headphones on meaning don't talk to him when he's like this plus Maddie refilled the coffee jars and he's listening to Taylor Swift as usual and bet he was up all night again.
It was a few days after the birthday thing and for Sonic it was the last day of school before summer break knowing Tom and Maddie were probably wondering or worrying about what he'd be up to during Summer break but he noticed a tired Shadow eating coffee beabs which was normal seeing him growl at Ozzy makijg the dog run off whimpering surprising Tails until he saw Shadow looking tired getting it. "He was probably thinjing about youknow who again." Sonic whispered to Tails as Maddie waljed in seeing both young males were up along with Shadow wearing headphones making her sigh as she and Tom were trying to bond with him but he would Chaos Control himself to his room or have headphones on which made her sigh as they liked hanging out with them and talking to them.
"Just leave him be Maddie as he was up late. We'll keep trying to get him to open up to you but maybe you remind him of the obe human he bondedwith growing up. He grew up in a lab until Robotnik woke him up." Sonic told her while eating cereal surprising Maddie wanting to check Shadow out making Sonic gulp knowing that wouldn't fly but saw Shadow's hand shake making him wonder if he was okay. "?… I guess…" he said zoning oht making Maddie and Sonic concerned especially his head hitting the table and his headphones slipped off which Maddie caught knowing how much Shadow used them.
"Don't worry I got this, you gugs go to school, enjoy your last day plus we dan't wait to see your report cards when you get home." she reassured them but Sonic was quiet as they left the house but Shadow was on his mind the whole day which cancelled oht his anxiety aboht his report card knowing Tails wasn't nervous about his texting Maddie asking if Shadow was okay but his phone was in silent mode one of the rules Tom and Maddie told him before letting him have the phone and they didn't know he had TikTok and a lot of followers plus was excited once the final bell rang speeding oht of there but heading to the park for a bit to destress after this morning.
When he got home, he saw Maddie home knowing what was on his mind but saw him go into the living room seeing Shadow on the couch wrapped in a blanket but he looked calm which he found sweet deciding to leave him alone going into the kitchen seeing Maddie looking at Tails's repirt card making Sonic facepalm because worrying about Shadow had made him forget aboht that detail feeling his stomach like it was full of chilli dogs or Chaos Cola and Maddie noticed his facial expression guessing it was about his repirt card. "Don't worry, Tom and I won't be that upset because we know you try yoyr best when the world's not in danger. Shadow actually taljed to me for a lil bit and feel bad for him. He needs therapy." she told him making him surprised that Shadow had taljed to her as he only taljed to him.
"Yeah, he called me Maria for sone reason which is weird but cute. We should let hin sleep boys." she told them as Sonic nodded guessing Shadow was projecting Maria onto Maddie making him frowning as he was seeing Tom home early but relieved by his grades only he noticed Sonic wasn't focusing about that but hoped Shadow would be okay knowibg Tom and Maddie had put his blaster in the safe knowing he'd be upset by that as sometines Shadow sleot with it.
"He'll be okay Sonic, as Maddie was taking care of him you know she's a great vet. Like when we're hurt or sick." Tails pointed out as they were having lunch only he was checking on him or saw Maddie checking on him hearing him call her Maria making him feel bad for him knowing how it felt to lose somebody you cared about with Longclaw and Knuckles had lost his tribe and his father including his dad feeling a lump in his throat zipping off before Maddie saw or discovered him.
