"Welcome back home Buck." Steve said with a smile as the remaining Avengers off the ramp of the Quinjet.

"Thanks pal." Bucky smiled, he took a deep breath. "It's good to walk these streets again being free of HYDRA and no longer looking over my shoulder every time I heard a siren."

Sam slung his arm around Bucky's shoulders. "Better get use to it now, Barnes."

"Touch me again, and you'll be chicken food." Bucky threatened as he shoves his arm off.

"Buck." Steve gave him a look.

"Ah, he'll come around." Sam said lightly, brushing off the threat as he followed Thor and Rocket further down the ramp.

"I wonder what kind of food is left in the kitchen." Wanda wondered out loud and Natasha shrugs.

"Let's go check it out." She moves off the ramp, the Witch and the three children follow. That just left Bucky, Steve, and Bruce.

"Steve?" Bruce approaches him, holding a device that was blinking and beeping. "What should we do with this thing?"

"Well, it was next to Fury's car." Steve starts. "It has the SHIELD logo." He looks at it curiously. "Doesn't look like SHIELD logo. We should get it inside."

"Should we be worried?" Banner asked with worry. "I mean we don't know who or what this thing is trying to contact."

"We'll have to figure that out eventually." Bucky replied.

"Right." Steve nods.

Bucky moves down the ramp and into the sun of New York.

He didn't know how long or where he currently was. Bucky kept his hands stuffed deep in his pockets as he kept in the shadows and away from the public. It was cold but he didn't mind the cold as he was use to it all thanks to HYDRA keeping him frozen for centuries.

He came up to a building and something made him pause. As he looked at it. And he didn't know how long he stood there, but when the side door opened …

Bucky blinked hard and lifted the collar of his jacket up and started to move.

"You look like you need a meal." The voice had Bucky jump startled and turn to see a Nun standing nearby. "Come inside." She offers, turning slightly towards the building. "We have plenty of food left over."

"I." Bucky hesitated, but his stomach rumbled quietly. "If there's room."

The Nun smiles. "Please come. We have room."

Wanda walked into the lounge of the facility. "I see that Stark has repaired what I destroyed." She said, making Steve raise his eyebrows as he and Bucky came into the room.

"What happened?" Steve asked, watching Bucky as he roamed around the room. Wanda turns to the blonde.

"He prisoned me." She reminded. "When Clint came to get me for the fight in Germany. Vision refused to let me leave. He and Clint fought."

"Uncle Steve, I wanted a cheeseburger, but tomato face refused for mama to leave!" Melina cried as she's sitting on a sofa.

"Tomato face?" Bucky repeated the name as he moved to sit on one of the sofas.

"She's talking about Vision." Steve answered, causing Bucky to nod.

"Ok." He turns to Wanda. "What happened when you tried to leave?"

"Vision refused that I leave. Even after Clint came for me." Wanda said as she moves to sit next to him.

"He do anything to Melina?" Bucky asks.

"No." Wanda shook her head, she leaned on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"Good." Bucky narrowed his eyes at the far wall.

Steve shook his head, he looked down when Melina grabbed his leg, she looks up at him.

"Tomato face was scary Uncle Steve." The child said as she hugged his leg, he bent down to pick her up and she now rested on his hip with her little arms around his neck. "He put Uncle Clint in a headlock!" She looked ready to cry just thinking about it. "Then mommy used her powers to free Uncle Clint and shove tomato face through the floor and kept pushing. Tomato face went through all the floors!"

"I'm sorry Wanda." Steve apologized. "I had no idea until Tony told me his plans for Bucky and what he did to you."

"It is not your fault Steve, you had a lot on your mind back then." She told him.

Steve sighs as he moves to another sofa, he shifts Melina to sit in his lap as he sank onto the sofa across from them. "Tony and I had a fight about his actions." He replied.

"If anything Stark should apologize to you two." Wanda said firmly.

Bucky started to open his mouth, but Bruce swiftly walked into the room.

"Steve, something's happening with that device of Fury's."

A few minutes later, in the control room. Steve, and Bucky walked in meeting up with Natasha and Sam who were already there.

"What'd we got?" Steve asked.

"Whatever signal was sent finally crapped out." Bruce answered.

"I thought we bypassed the battery." Steve frowns.

"We did." Sam nods. "It's still plugged in, it just stopped."

"Reboot it. Send the signal again." Steve ordered.

"We don't even know what this thing is." Bruce said, gesturing to the derive that looks like a pager.

"Fury did." Natasha said, her eyes never leaving the device. "Just do it, tell me the second you get the signal, I want to know who's on the other end of that thing." She turns and stops short.

A blonde woman stood behind them. "Where's Fury?" She demands.

After some time, Bucky and Wanda followed Sam into the meeting room. "You wanted us here too Steve?" Bucky asked, and Steve turns to them.

"Yeah. Don't know how you'll like this." He warns.

"After what has happened to our friends and the rest of the world." Wanda starts. "I don't know."

Bucky placed a hand on her back to guide her to the table next to Thor, Wanda eased herself down and that's when she saw the new arrival.

"Who is she?" The Sokovian asks, her eyes narrowed on the new arrival.

The blonde arrival turned to her. "I'm here to help."

"That is not answering the question." Thor said as he's leaned back in his chair with his arms folded. "You are not doing anyone any good by concealing your identity."

"All of us are all keyed up right now." Steve tried to defuse the tension in the room. "You never told us your name."

"Fine. If it'll put everyone at ease. It's Carol Danvers." She looks around at everyone. "Happy?"

"Ecstatic." Sam answered dryly as he's leaned on a wall.

Natasha turns her attention back to the screens again. She moves in for a closer look. "He used the stones again." Her comment made everyone tense.

"Hey, hey, hey." He said hesitantly. "We'd be going in short handed."

"You know he's still got the stones." Sam reminded.

"So, we use them." Carol said, turning to Steve. "Bring everyone back."

"Wait, wait, wait." Bucky said. "Just like that?" He asks.

"Yeah." Steve nods. "Just like that."

"Even if there's a small chance." Natasha's voice was filled with hope. "That we can undo this, I mean we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try."

"If we do this. How do we know it's gonna end any differently then before?" Bruce asked.

"Because before, you didn't have me." Carol said confidently.

"That suppose to mean something?" Bucky demanded.

"Buck." Steve rests a hand on his shoulder.

"No, Cap." Sam looks at him. "Barnes' right." He turns to Danvers. "New girl, everybody in this room is about that superhero life. And where the hell have you been this whole damn time?"

"There are a lot of other planets in the universe." Danvers answered cooly. "And unfortunately they didn't have you guys."

Wanda stood up from her chair. "You think you are better than us?" She demands with anger.

"I never said that." Danvers replied, looking at her.

"You think you are a one person army?" Wanda continued.

"Earth is my home too." Carol told her. "I want to protect her just like you."

"Funny way of showing it." Sam said.

"You guys need my help." Carol said, looking at him. "Fury was obviously calling me to come home."

"So you can take away our job?" Wanda demanded, red energy had started to spark and dance between her fingers. "I can root in your mind and."-

"Doll." Bucky firmly but gently cut her off as he placed his hands on her shoulders. "Calm down."

"I'll make this easy." Thor said as he stood up and walked around the couple. He approached Danvers who turns to fully face him, and he raised his left hand. In an instant Stormbreaker flew into his hand and Carol Danvers never flinched or blinked an eye as they held each other's gaze. Finally he nodded. "I like this one."

That was all Steve needed to know. "Let's go get this son of a bitch."

While Steve and the others left. Bucky and Wanda wanted to stay behind to look after Melina. "You wanted to talk?" Wanda asked as she and Bucky sat in the lounge watching as Melina and the two Wakanda children named Umde and Thira, the three are coloring at the coffee table.

"Yeah." Bucky nods, with his flesh hand he took her hand and lead her to the doorway. "I've been think a lot about this. And I should've told you, but I wasn't sure."- He trailed off when Wanda lifts her left hand to gently place her fingers over his mouth.

"You are rambling." She removes her fingers

"Sorry." He took a deep breath. "I want to start an orphanage. For kids who's lost their parents." He tells her. "During this time. they'll need shelter. We can start small, and if it's only a small group of kids, that'll be good enough for me."

"The Avengers facility is no place for children." Wanda said. "Even for Melina, but she know where to go and who to ask and talk to. Other children would not."

Bucky looks over at Melina, who had paused in her coloring and watching her parents, Bucky turned his attention back at Wanda. "We'll find a home. And I want to stay in New York. Preferably Brooklyn."

"Ok." She agrees. "But we should wait for Steve to return, he might want to help?"

"Then we'll wait for him." Bucky nods, he almost looked lost.

"James?" Wanda frowns, she reaches up to gently cup his face. "You ok?" She asks in concern.

"Don't worry about me doll." He promises. "I'm ok."
