Land of Lightning
Naruto knelt with Sakura, healing him as the allied forces surrounded them, "Kurama, do we have a chance?" Naruto asked his partner.
"I know what you are on about, but I do not think so. They are not going to arrive in time," Kurama told Naruto, who closed his eyes. "There is a jutsu that can send us back into the past, but it is risky," the bijū told him as the blond looked up at the massive form of the Jūbi, creating a gigantic Bijūdama.
And so he closed his eyes as, thanks to that beast, he entered Sage Mode faster.
"What are the seals?" Naruto asked as Kurama talked to him about the seals.
Sakura looked down at Naruto as he went through the seals. She looked at him confusedly before he curled his index fingers with his thumbs and held his hands above each other.
"Hijutsu: Kinpō: Jikan Tobu," Naruto called out as his body started to glow as everyone looked at him.
"Naruto, what are you doing?" Sakura asked him as he seemed to be fading away along with everything around them. People turned to light and faded away.
"I've used a forbidden jutsu that only the bijū can do," Naruto said with a sad smile as things turned to white light and faded away. "I'm sending myself back in time to fix things," he told her as she looked at him and reached for him, but her hands passed through him.
"Why, we could help you?" She asked as Naruto shook his head.
"No, you would not survive the trip," He said as more people turned to light, as did Obito and Madara, along with the Jūbi, "I have to do this," he told her as she looked at him as tears fell from her eyes.
"Why?" Sakura asked him as she choked up.
"Bee is not in the right shape to do this, and that leaves me," He said as his legs vanished.
He steeled his nerves as he leaned forward and kissed Sakura's forehead, to her shock. "I've always wanted to do that," he said as the ground and sky around them also turned white.
"That day on the bench," She said as Naruto's torso was gone.
"Yep, I've always thought that you were beautiful, and I still do, but I always knew that I've had to settle for second," he said as his upper body was almost gone, and tears started to fall down Sakura's face.
She said nothing, as Naruto's smile was bright. "See you in the past," he said to her before disappearing. And Sakura stood alone within a white void before she faded away as well.
Five Years Earlier, Land of Fire, Konoha, Naruto's Apartment
Naruto, sleeping on his bed, woke with a start. He looked around, smiled, looked at his hand, and then walked into his bathroom and looked at his body.
"It looks like it worked," he said as he heard a yawn in his head. "Is everything alright?" he asked his partner.
"I'm alright, so what is the plan?" He asked his host.
"We going to have to find out what time we're in first," Naruto said as he dressed and walked out of his apartment.
He walked around the village, listening to what people said: "Did you hear that the daimiō was on his way down?" "I can't believe that Uzumaki made it to the last round." "My money is on Sasuke winning it all."
The blond listened to it all before he walked to a quiet area, "So it's the Chūnin Exam, and now I need the day," Naruto thought as he walked around.
"Why is that important?" Kurama asked Naruto as he looked through the blond's eyes.
"It depends on how long I have to put something to stop Obito into motion," Naruto told him as he felt Kurama nod.
He walked around the village, smiling at people before finding what he sought.
A Newspaper.
He then pulled out his wallet, paid for the paper, and looked it over before he found what he was looking for.
"So, it's the day I meet Ero-sennin," Naruto said as he smiled sadly before he looked over to the Kage building.
"I may have a suggestion," a different voice within Naruto's head said as the blond walked over to a place where people would not notice him, closed his eyes, and pulled himself into his underworld.
He found that a seal bound Kurama and Naruto cursed as he failed to remove the Gogyō Fūin, but before he could say anything, he saw someone there.
They were a tall, pale-skinned man with deep wrinkles and a strong jawline with spiky, shoulder-length, pale brown hair, with a chin-length, braided lock hanging in front of his left ear. He also sported a goatee, short in his younger years and tapered down to his waist in his old age. He had a pair of horn-like protrusions extending from either side of his forehead, and his eyes shocked the blond; there were Rinnegan eyes. He also had a red Rinnegan-like marking in the centre of his forehead. He wore a white, full-length kimono with a pattern of six black magatama around a high collar. Below it, he wore a necklace made of six black magatama.
He seemed floating above five black orbs with a floated staff behind him.
"Naruto Uzumaki, son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, it is good we meet. My name is Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, but you would know me as the Rikudō Sennin," The man said to Naruto as he looked at the blond before he saw a soul next to Naruto, "I have come to say that you must-""Don't even try to say that Naruto must work with Indra's reincarnation," Kurama interrupted from where he was bound.
Hogoromo looked at the fox, "And why is that Kurama," He asked his creation.
"Because all of Indra's reincarnations want to do is bring chaos to the world, and the clan that was born from what is going to plunge the world into darkness, so dark that not even me and my siblings cannot fight it," Kurma said as Hogoromo looked at the fox and then Naruto before back at the fox.
"What would you do if you were me then?" he asked Kurama, who looked shocked before he shook his head and pointed at Naruto.
"Grant Naruto the full power of the Rinnegan, as well as your Senin Chakra, so that he can beat Madara and Obito and stop the madness that they are brewing up," Kurama growled at the man as Naruto looked at his partner in shock.
Hogoromo looked at Kurama before going over to Naruto. He stood up, and when he did, three portals opened up. He pulled out the chakra from them, flowing into Kurama and Naruto while the fox grew in height.
"What have you done father?" Kurama asked as he looked at his creator.
Hogoromo looked at Kurama and then over to Naruto, "I returned to you the Yin half of your chakra and now," He said before he floated up to Naruto and held out his hand.
Naruto looked at the hand before he accepted it, and then the blond felt a rush of power as the Gogyō Fūin faded away, and the blond's eyes changed to the Rinnegan before they turned back to his normal blue.
When he pulled his hand away, he saw a white circle on his right hand, and when he looked at his left hand, he saw a black crescent moon before it faded.
"What did you just do," Naruto asked the man.
"I did as Kurama said, I gave you the Rinnegan, but I decided that with what happens with Indra's rencarnations, you will need the full power, so I gave it the full power that it could get, which includes all the power and abilities of the Sharingan," Hogoromo told Naruto who nodded at him.
"Right, but what was that other chakra," Naruto asked the man.
"My siblings chakra, you now have a small portion of each of their chakra, enough that you can use there alibies as well," Kurama said as the other beasts formed out of the water of Naruto's underworld.
"I shall stay with you so that I can aid you," Hogoromo said as he floated.
Naruto looked at the beasts before looking over to Kurama. "Right, I'll go talk with Hokage-jiji. Can you fill them in on what's going on?" he asked his partner.
At Kurama's nod, Naruto opened his eyes and started to walk towards the Kage building, not knowing he was being followed.
Walking up to the office, he found that Hiruzen had just opened the door and greeted Naruto. "Hello, Naruto. What brings you by?" he asked Naruto.
The blond stayed quiet before he looked at the man. "Can we talk?" he asked as the man looked deep into Naruto's eyes and saw they were different.
They looked older.
"Let's go to your favourite spot," he said as he led Naruto and the one watching Naruto.
They walked out of the building and to the top of Hokage Rock. "So what did you want to speak about?" he asked Naruto, who looked out to the village.
"What I'm about to say is going to sound crazy, insane, even that you're going to want to extract Kurama from me," Naruto said as Hiruzen raised a brow at the name. "But everything I'm about to say is the truth, so much so that I'm willing to ask Inoichi-san to check my memories to prove how real they are," he said as Hiruzen nodded at him.
"And that is," He asked the blond.
"I'm from the future, not my body, but my mind and soul," Naruto said sadly, smiling.
Hirzuen looked at him, shocked, before he saw in Naruto's eyes the truth, "Why did you come back," He asked the blond.
His sad smile became even more tragic. "To stop a war, save people," Naruto said as he sat down.
"What war," He asked as Hiruzen looked down at the village.
"The fourth great war, all villages working together to fight the person that sent Kurama to attack the village on my birth," Naruto said, clenching his fist.
"I see," Hiruzen said as he looked at Naruto, who looked down at the village. "How many will you try to save?" he asked Naruto.
"At minimum two, maximum, I don't know," Naruto said as he looked at the village.
"And they are?" Hiruzen asked. This time, Naruto looked at him with tears in his eyes.
"You and Jiraiya-sensei," Naruto said as Hiruzen looked shocked. "Your death is coming up soon. Well, in my time, and it is coming up quickly," he said as he looked back at the village.
"And what was that for you?" Hiruzen asked him if Anbu had appeared with Inoichi.
"The day of the finals, you use the Shiki Fūjin, too, at first, seal away Orochimaru, but when that fails, you seal away his arms," Naruto said as Inoichi looked confused.
"Hokage-sama?" He asked before he could say the name of the person who followed them, but Hiruzen shook his head slightly.
"Inoichi, can you check Naruto's memories to see if his statement is true? If he is, then we shall retire to my office, where we shall discuss everything," the Sandaime Hokage said as Inoichi nodded.
"And what am I looking to see?" He asked as Naruto looked at the man.
"Five years of the furture," Naruto said as Inoichi narrowed his eyes, confused before he did as asked.
When he looked into Naruto's mind, he did not know what to say as Kurama showed him everything that had happened during those five years.
When he released his jutsu, he looked at Naruto with respect. "You had a hard choice to make, and I'm glad you picked it," he said with a small smile before he looked at Hizruzen. "I can confirm that everything that he has said is the truth," Inoichi told his leader.
"I see," Hiruzen said before he looked at the Anbu. "Get me Jiraiya and Kakashi now. Sakura, come out of hiding," he said as Naruto's pink-haired teammate stepped out.
"I knew I sensed a familiar chakra," Naruto said sadly.
They all returned to Hirzuen's office. Jiraiya then appeared in a puff of smoke, and Kakashi opened the door to the office.
Hiruzen and Inoichi filled them in as they looked at Naruto, who was standing by the window looking out at the village. "So, kid, I hear you from the future," Jiraiya said to Naruto, who turned to him.
"That I am Jiraiya-sensei," He said as the man saw the sadness in the usually bright blue eyes.
"Who starts this war?" Kakashi asked as he saw Sakura there. "Shall I get Sasuke?" Just as Hiruzen was going to nod, Naruto shook his head.
"No," he said, shocking the room. "I did not want Sakura to know about this, only you, Jiji, and both of you, Inoichi, as he would need to look through my mind," Naruto said as the others looked at him.
"But why?" Sakura asked him.
Naruto looked at her before walking over to a seat and sat down while looking at the floor, saying, "Sasuke abandons the village in four months. He joined Orochimaru, no Sakura, it's not the curse seal; no matter how much I want to believe it's the curse seal, it's not," He said as he looked up at her as she collapsed to her knees, "He almost kills me with a Chidori three time, and if not for Kurama I would have died," Naruto added as Kakashi looked down.
"Who starts this war?" Hiruzen asked the blond.
He looked at the man, then briefly looked at his sensei and sighed, "At first. At first, it's a group of S-Rank ninja called the Akatsuki," Naruto said as Jiraiya's eyes narrowed at the name. "The goal their fake leader has said is a lie. Their real goal is to bring back a monster of world-ending power," he told them as they looked shocked.
"Who is in this group?" Kakashi asked the blond.
"I can do one better, I can say how I met them, and who killed them and as little bit more," Naruto said as Hiruzen nodded.
"That would be good," He said as Jiraiya pulled out a notebook and pencil.
"First, there is Orochimaru, he is an ex-member, he is killed by Sasuke after he was weakened by a drug," Naruto said as they nodded, "Then there is Itachi Uchiha, dies of an illness that he has and makes it look like Sasuke killed him," Naruto said as the sage wrote this all down.
"Then we have Kisame Hoshigaki. No one kills him as he takes his own life instead of being captured and his memories taken," Naruto said as Hirzuen narrowed his eyes at that bit of information. "Then we have Kakazu. I killed him," Naruto said as Kakashi nodded his head.
"Then we have—I think Shikamaru said his name was Hidan," the blond said as he shook his head before he looked at Hirzuen. "He killed Asuma-sensei," Naruto told his leader, whose eyes widened.
"How?" He asked the blond.
"From what Kakahsi-sensei told me was that if Hidan took in your blood, he would then stand in a seal on the ground and any and all damage he would take would be transferred to you," Naruto said as the adults looked shocked, "Hiden stabbed himself in the heart, after he took in Asuma-sensei's blood," He told them.
Jiraiya looked at his leader and saw his fist clenched so hard that it was bleeding.
"How did he lose?" Kakashi asked, noting the Hokage's state.
"As Hidan was a true immortal, Shikamaru buried him alive within the Nara forest," Naruto said as Inoichi nodded at him. "Then we have Deidara; he was not killed but made sure Gaara, the godaime Kazekage, could be taken. He was killed by Sasuke on his way to fight Itachi," he said as others did not know what to say.
"Then we have Sasori; he is taken out by Sakura-chan and Chiyo-oba," he said, and the others could not help but sigh as Sakura looked surprised.
"I take out an S-rank ninja," She asked as Naruto nodded.
"Yep," He told her with a smile.
Before it vanished, "Chiyo-oba used a Kinjutsu to bring Gaara back to life," Naruto told them as they all looked down. "Then we have a creature known as Zetsu; I don't know a lot about them, as they are a mystery, but the next three, well, both of you are not going to like this," he told both his sensei.
"Why is that?" Hiruzen asked the blond.
"The puppet leader of the Akatsuki is called Pain. He is technically seven people as he uses the Rinnegan," Naruto said as Jiraiya's eyes shot wide. "His real name is Nagato. He became Pain when Danzo tricked Hanzo, and thus he became known as Pain," he said as Jiraiya looked down before he looked at Naruto.
"What about Konan and Yahiko," He asked Naruto, who shook his head.
"Nagato loses his ability to walk, so the main body of Pain, the Tendō body, the one that has the most power and the one that crushed all on Konoha to nothing but a crater in the ground, that body belonged to Yahiko, the reason why Nagato became Pain is because Hanzo kill Yahiko," Naruto told the man who looked down, "Pain also killed you," He said Jiraiya who sat down as he felt weak.
"Natgato then used a jutsu that brought back everyone in Konoha he killed, but as you were in Ame," Naruto said as he shook his head. "Konan was by his side, even in the end, and she died trying to stop the real leader," Naruto said as he looked at Kakashi, who had gotten clued in.
"So my turn for bad news," He joked as he moved to a seat.
"The real leader of the Akatsuki has been doing multiple things around the world; the first was the death of hundreds in Konoha when he made Kurama attack, and why my mother and father had to give their lives for me; he is the reason why the yondaime Mizukage is, or was, going on a killing spree with people with Kekkei Genkai," Naruto said as everyone looked sick to their stomachs, "He goes by an alias called Tobi, but his real name is one that is seen as a hero," He said as the adults looked at each other. Still, Naruto did not take his eyes off Kakashi.
"He an Uchiha," Naruto said as Kakashi's eyes widened. "With one Sharingan, his right eye," he added.
"No," Kakashi said as he shook his head. Sakura had never seen their sensei like this, and Hirzuen narrowed his eyes in anger.
"He was a student of my father alongside you, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto said as he hung his head again. "Obito Uchiha, he's the real leader of the Akatsuki, and he starts the war and brings out that monster," he said as Kakashi did not know what to say.
"How did you find this out?" Hiruzen asked Naruto as Kakahsi started to break down.
"Just before I sent myself back, it was me, Killer Bee, Kakashi-sensei, and Guy-sensei fighting Obito, and we were trying to get past him, and that is when Kakashi-sensei found out that their eyes were connected, and so he sent a clone of mine into the Kamui world to break his mask, and when the clone did, it releved Obito Uchiha," Naruto told him as Hiruzen put a pipe in his mouth and smoked.
Inoichi looked at the others as if they did not know what to say, "Can you name any other moments in time that we can on the look for or try to push to the front so that we can subvert some of these outcomes, like Asuma's death," He asked Naruto who looked at him.
"Well, from what I know, Asuma dies after a mission; me, Sakura, Sai, Team 8, Lee, Shizune, Ino, and Tenten to make sure that Isobu is not captured by the Akatsuki," Naruto told them as they nodded at him, "It is around that time when Orochimaru is wanted to make someone into a Jinchūriki for Oto," He said as Hiruzen nodded.
No one said anything for a while before Hirzuen looked up. "Alright then, the first thing we're going to do is make sure that we keep me alive after Orochimaru's attack on Konoha and Naruto; you said that takes place during the finals, correct?" He asked Naurto, who nodded.
"Yes, it happens when Gaara is fighting Sasuke, Sasuke forces Gaara into a corner and Gaara going into a transformation, that I work with Gamabunta into fighting him off and waking Gaara up," Naruto said as Hiruzen looked at his student and nodded.
Jiraiya summoned the scroll holder and gave it to Naruto, who unrolled it and smiled as he signed it again.
He then moved to the side bit, using his thumb, and went through the seals before summoning the toad he needed.
It was a small green toad with white hair and a small cloak.
"Jiraiya-boy, did you summon me?" the toad asked, but he shook his head and pointed at Naruto before explaining who he was. "I see, then, as the Sage of the toads, I accept you as the summoner, and I shall tell the others about you," he told Naruto before he returned to the summoning realm.
"Did I have you summon Pa the first time," Jiraiya asked Naruto, who shook his head.
"No, you pushed me into a riven and had to pull on Kuama's chakra before summoning Gamabunta," Naruto said before he looked to Hiruzen. "On that, can I try to call on his chakra?" he asked as the man nodded.
Everyone watched in amazement as Naruto was washed over in golden orange chakra. His hair became like horns and six magatama markings around his neck, his whiskers became thicker to resemble the trigram, and a full-length haori formed as his chest became black with a red where his seal would be.
They looked at his eyes and saw that he had turned the Rinnegan on, and they were slit and red.
Sakura was amazed at Naruto's appearance but could not help but look at his eyes. "Naruto, what happened to your eyes?" she asked as the others looked at them.
"Well you see, they were a gift," He said as Hiruzen raised a brow.
"From who?" He asked.
"Me," Hogoromo said as he appeared in the room, shocking everyone.
"Who are you?" Kakashi asked as he prepared to attack.
"He's the Rikudō Sennin, and the creator of the bijū," Naruto said as the others looked at him.
"Indeed I am, and I have given Naruto a tool to help him take down Obito and Madara Uchiha," he said as Naruto slapped his face.
"Oh right, I forgot about that," He said as he looked at the sand aimed, "Kabuto used the Edo Tensei to summon back dead ninja from around the world; I faced the sandime Raikage, the sandaime Mizukage, the nidaime Tsuchikage, the yondaime Kazekage, and Madara Uchiha, and it was said that another ninja was brought back, a clone of mine faced someone with a bone Kekkei Genkai, Itachi and Nagato were also brought back, the other Jinchūriki that were brought back, and that is only a small amount," He told them.
Kakashi stood up and narrowed his eye. "So we kill Kabuto, that means that Obito doesn't get his forces," he said as Hiruzen narrowed his eyes.
"Alright, here is the plan," He told them as they looked at him.
