Fire of the Rebellion
Chapter 25: A Jedi Family
Hal struck out into the streets of Aldera.
Like a Jedi on a mission, he wanted his boots on the ground.
Sometimes a simple walk through a city plaza could tell you more about the state of a planet than a full briefing.
Aldera was built on an island over a vast shallow lake.
Most of the buildings were built from the same glowing white stone with domes and towers thrusting up into a sky that seemed to arc like a delicate teacup overhead.
The people of Aldera went about their business with pleasant expressions, hailing friends, slowing their steps to admire the day, stopping at a café. Unlike the other worlds he had visited, Alderaan didn't seem touched by the hand of the Empire.
And that worried him.
He didn't know if the Emperor had plans for Alderaan, but he sensed that the people here thought he would never dare to.
They were protected by their Queen, by their Senator, and by their own peacefulness.
Alderaan had banned weapons long ago and its citizens had found a way to coexist without the strife and anger that split other societies.
Hal knew that sooner or later Palpatine would turn his eye on Alderaan.
Bail was too powerful a figure to allow to remain so influential.
It might take months or years, but it would happen.
His heart told him it would.
Hal made his way to the Renar Residence which was where his wife and children were.
The Jedi Knight arrived back to his home and found Stellar in the kitchen, making a meat pie which was an Alderaanian food baked with fickleberries that created a blend of savoury and sweet flavours.
Stellar Corak was now a woman in her mid 30s wearing a pale blue glittering textured dress with many ruffled skirt layers cut at an angle on the right corner. Silver strings adorned with ornate snowflakes wrap around the waist. Long flowing sleeves were worn on her arms with bare shoulders. On the the fourth finger on her left hand was her gold wedding ring.
Her stomach was swollen since she was eight months pregnant.
Stellar turned around to smile at Hal.
"Hey, Hal."Stellar greeted kindly."Welcome back."
Hal went over to Stellar before the two of them hugged and shared a small kiss.
"Stellar, I should be cooking in your condition."Hal suggested.
Stellar placed her hands on Hal's face.
"Hal, I am fine. You don't need to worry."Stellar remarked."I am strong enough to do anything. I can take care of myself."
A smirk appeared on Hal's face when he heard footsteps since he knew who was coming to greet him.
"Uh oh."Hal sneered in amusement."Incoming."
Stellar covered her mouth to giggle while Hal bent down on one knee as their three children; Roxanne, Dimitri and Peggy Corak rushed forward to hug him.
Roxanne Corak was a fifteen year old girl with pale skin, turquoise green eyes and platinum blonde hair with side-swept bangs and tea-green highlights. She wore a white long-sleeved shirt, a navy blue vest and a matching skirt with short blue boots.
Dimitri Corak was a twelve year old boy with spiky periwinkle blue hair that had a right hair bang and turquoise green eyes. He wore a short green jacket with a red sweater, black trousers and grey green trainers.
Peggy Corak was a six year old girl with light nougat hair tied in two loop braids and held in place with velvet red ribbons and magenta pink eyes. She wore a cream coloured turtleneck sweater with a pink heart on it as well as pink bubble shorts, black socks and raspberry shoes.
"Hi, dad/daddy!"Roxanne and Peggy greeted in unison.
"Welcome back."Dimitri declared.
Hal chuckled as he hugged Roxanne, Dimitri and Peggy.
"Hi, sweethearts."Hal replied and then ruffled Dimitri's head, making his hair look a bit more wild."Hey, buddy."
Stellar smiled as she watched her husband and their three children, only to wince a bit as she felt her fourth baby kick her stomach a little bit.
"Hi, dad. Guess what?"Roxanne remarked."I aced my exams in the university."
"Well done, Annie."Hal praised proudly.
Peggy tugged Hal's right hand, earning his attention.
"Dad, can you play with me later?"Peggy requested.
Dimitri frowned at Peggy.
"Peggy, Dad promised me that he would take me to the Castle Lands later on."Dimitri reminded.
Peggy frowned and gave an adorable pouty face.
"No fair."Peggy retorted while folding her arms."Did you at least bring Aunt Meibe, daddy?"
Maybelline popped her head out and arrived into the living room.
"Way don't you hug her and find out, Peg?"Maybelline chuckled.
Peggy's mood immediately brightened up at seeing her half-aunt.
"Yay!"Peggy cheered in joy.
Maybelline picked up Peggy and placed her in arms.
Hal smiled at seeing his younger half-sister before looking at Roxanne and Dimitri.
"Why don't you kids go play in the garden?"Hal insisted."Me, your mother and Aunt Meibe have things to talk about."
"Okay, dad."Dimitri replied.
Roxanne nodded. "Sure."
Maybelline handed Peggy to Dimitri before her half-nephew headed out in the garden to play with his sisters.
The young woman slowly placed her hands on Stellar's swollen stomach that held her future half-nephew inside.
"How is little Jayden doing?"Maybelline asked.
Stellar smiled at her half-sister-in-law as she went next to Hal.
"Great. It's good to see you're doing fine as well, May."Stellar complemented as Hal gently held her hand."Though your visit usually means something has come up."
"That's correct, Stellar."Maybelline replied."Three members of the Ghost Crew went to visit an Old Republic medical base only to come across the two Inquisitors, Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister."
Shocked looks appeared on Hal and Stellar's faces.
"Oh my gosh."Stellar murmured, covering her mouth.
"Are they okay?"Hal demanded.
Maybelline nodded in agreement.
"Zeb, Ezra and Sabine are fine. They were able to escape."Maybelline assured."But I've been told the Inquisitors know about Ahsoka, Ferus…and Nadia."
There was now silence in the room at Maybelline's declaration.
"If they about them, it's likely they know about the two of us as well, little sister."Hal commented.
Stellar glanced at Hal with a worried expression.
"Hal, I don't want nothing to happen to us and our children."Stellar declared.
"It won't, Stella. But I have a feeling some day we have to leave Alderaan."Hal complemented."I appreciate Queen Breha and Senator Organa sheltering us. Though I wonder how long will we be actually saved in your home planet."
Stellar looked down in sadness.
"I understand."Stellar answered and looked at Hal with a brave look."Wherever you go, I want to be with you."
Hal brought his attention back to Maybelline.
"Were you able to contact Ahsoka, Ferus and Nadia about the Spectres' incident with the two Inquisitors?"Hal questioned.
"I was able to contact Ahsoka."Maybelline stated."But as for Ferus and Dia? Neither of them weren't available to take my call."
Hal went over to the window to see Roxanne, Dimitri and Peggy playing ball outside the garden.
"If they aren't available right now, please contact them as soon as you can, Meibe."Hal instructed."A lot of people in the galaxy have lost their families because of the Empire, I don't attend the same thing to happen us."
"I understand, big brother."Maybelline answered.
See you all in the next chapter and have a wonderful day!
