Chapter 13 is a surprise early update! Why? Because I have zero-self restraint! Bahahaha, thank you for following. Enjoy! (And of course don't hate my boy too much.)

(Sophia's POV)

I sigh, pausing on the bottom step of home-tree. The others had already gone up, ready to turn in for the night.

"Sophia?" A voice says behind me. I turn, seeing Mo'at and smile softly, nodding in a greeting "What is wrong child?"

"I'm not sure what to do with Manova. Norm will be out of the medical bay in a few weeks and its not like I can keep her in there. She's making some of the villagers nervous."

"Yes," she chuckles "And Tsu'tey is making you nervous." I hold her gaze, embarrassment on my cheeks

"If I go up to the hammocks are we certain Tsu'tey won't cut the ties in my sleep?"

She hums, looking at the small room "Why don't you go to your brother tonight. If Manova chooses to stay with you we will have a family sized hammock made for you both."

"And Tsu'tey?"

She sighs darkly "Tsu'tey will keep his distance if he knows what's good for him."

(Jake's POV)

"So what am I supposed to do?" I ask

"It's a video log, you talk about everything you see, feel, hear. Whatever's on your mind." Grace says, looking through a science tool I'd already forgotten the name of.

"Uh… The time is 1900, location the base." I run a hand down my face "The training is a pain, most of it going over my head. Neytiri keeps me on my toes at all times, I swear she has some vendetta against me. It's do or die with that one, you have to learn fast." I chuckle "she seems to like Sophia, the two of them are thick as thieves but she's still unresponsive… whatever happened with that arrow head really did a number on her. I know they don't say it out loud but I know that Mo'at is worried about her. I am too. Despite being surrounded by people Home-tree feels a little more lonely without her." I shift on my chair "Norm's slowly regaining use of his legs! The doctors say he should be back to full health by the end of the month," I hold my paper thin thigh "I know he's ready to get back on his feet but I've kind of enjoyed having someone else to wheel around with you know?" I look down "Is it selfish of me to be sad about that?"

"Everyone wants camaraderie marine. It's not like there's a lot of other people like you around here."

I turn around, glaring at the scientist lightly "Excuse me, this is my video log. See the name? Jake Sulley."

She rolls her eyes with a smile "Well you're the one doing it in the middle of my lab."

I place my elbows on the lower table, running a hand through my hair "I know that Sophia and I aren't doing the same things but I really want her to wake up. I'm neck deep in the hostile's camp and I don't have my partner. If you happen to watch this one day soon, I miss you kid. Come back to me."

*fourteen hours earlier*

(Sophia's POV)

"That's it, another step." Mo'at says.

Ta'kun and I were on either side of Norm, making sure to catch him if he fell. Norm takes another step, hands hovering above the bars of stone and bamboo. The smile on Norms face was huge, his legs shaking as he shuffles forwards a smidge.

"Feel the power of your legs. Listen to your body." Mo'at continues "Do not push," she adds as Norm drops, the two of us catching the taller male "Listen to your body Norm."

"Right, right. Sorry." he chuckles "I just got excited."

My head turns to the left as a few surprised squeaks echo around us. I smile at Manova as we lower Norm into his chair.

"Good morning," I smile, linking up with her.

"Good morning child, how are you?"

"I'll survive." I grin "Are you off to hunt?"

"Yes, if you do not need me here?" her eyes flicker to Tsu'tey and his trainee's.

Given his behavior yesterday Eytukan had forbid him from leaving Home-tree, he had to train with the youngest recruits, while Bo-want, his second in command lead the party. It was better then before but I still caught his subtle glares every now and then.

"I'll be fine," I smile, petting her head.

"I still think I should eat him." Manova states, an annoyed huff leaving her nostrils.

I rub her head again, feeling her pleasure laced with annoyance. She loved the sensation but argued it after Jake said she was acting like a big dog.

"Go, hunt. We'll be here when you get back. -Just don't eat any sky people."

My hand plays with the large head-piece. A blue and white beaded head-piece, decorated with her own loose teeth and claws was wrapped around her head before weaving down her neck. It was there as identification, I only used her harness when we were riding.

Her head hits mine, the warm scales rubbing against my forehead with love before I pull our link. She holds my gaze, giving Tsu'tey one more warning glance before she's running through the entrance of home tree. Depending on the size of the hunt she wouldn't be back for at least seven hours.

..

..

I sighed, rubbing the cloth in the water and wash my face.

"Go get cleaned up and we'll keep practicing." Mo'at had said five minutes ago.

I hold the damp rag on my flesh, enjoying the cooling sensation in the damp forest heat. Given everything that had happened it had been forever since I had a moment to myself. I could already hear my therapists arguments.

Rest days are important Sophia.

You have to worry about yourself from time to time.

What do you need?

What I need is the universe to stop shitting on me for five bloody minutes… If it wasn't something here at home tree it was back on the base. I hadn't gotten a moment of peace.

I pat my face dry, grabbing a few things around the small medical room and toss them into the small wicker basket. String, rocks, leaves, tree bark, and reach up for my arrow-head. My hand pats around the top of the shelf and pause when my hand lands on the tub of powder. I stand, looking along the shelf and find it empty. My eyes glance around the room in confusion.

I had put it here last night and saw it before I went down to help Norm, I know I hadn't moved it.

Unless it moved itself.

The dark thought bounced around my head like a wrecking ball and I felt my stomach boil in anger. There was only one person that would have taken my talisman.

"Fucking hell…" I'm winding down the staircase, moving around a few people and make my way to the back of home tree "TSU'TEY!" I roar, he spins as I reach him, stumbling back as I shove him, hard "Give it back!"

A few if the trainee's jump, looking at us in confusion "Demon-"

'I AM NOT FUCKING AROUND TSU'TEY! GIVE IT BACK!"

The smug bastard had the audacity to smirk "I don't know what you're talking about."

"The arrow-head was in my room when I left and now its gone. You are the only person who cares about that thing besides me." my hand shot out, palm flat "Give it back."

His hand rests on-top of his weapon, the tall staff was some variation of a spear, but the point was rounded, telling it was more about brute force and deadly blows, then stabbing.

"I don't have it, search me."

"Seriously? You are such-" a child falls silent when that familiar sensation hits me. I spin, looking at the group of hunters and lift a hand. I follow the pull, moving through the group to a smaller boy in the back and glance down at him "Hello," I smile softly "Tsu'tey took something that doesn't belong to him, may I have it back please?"

his eyes flicker between us, but his hands slowly move to his braid "Tawali!" Tsu'tey roars but I lift a gentle palm to him, nodding gently "Don't you dare!"

I spin, hand hitting his chest and place myself between him and the boy "Eytukan already said it was mine, your Clan leader has spoken!" I extend my hand to the boy "I do not have time to be playing these childish games with you! The arrow-head is not yours, now back off!"

"What's going on here?" Mo'at asks.

I glance at her as the arrow-head is set in my palm "Well apparently Tsu'tey thought it was best to repeat yesterdays argument " a sense of completeness fills my body as I lift my hand "He took my arrow-head."

"It is not yours!" he growls, grabbing my hand.

"Tsu'tey!" I try to yank my hand back but his large one was wrapped around mine.

"You don't know what it is, or what it represents!" his grip tightens

"Tsu'tey stop!" Mo'at tries

"You can't use it!" the pressure increases jamming the point into my palm, blood dripping down my hand "I won't let you."

It pierces my palm. A sensation I could only describe being struck by lightning ripped through every nerve of my body.

(Mo'at's POV)

I had gone to find Sophia when she hadn't show up for practice and found her arguing with Tsu'tey.

His hand was wrapped around hers.

"You don't know what it is, or what it represents!" his grip tightens as she cries out in pain. my eyes widen at the blood dripping down her fingers.

"Tsu'tey stop!" I try, already moving towards them.

"You can't use it!" he roars "I won't let you."

"Tsu'tey!" I try again grabbing his arm but its too late.

Sophia's body jolts, her entire form going rigid before she's collapsing. I catch her in my arms, barely holding her shaking form. Her eyes are flickering back and forth rapidly as Tsu'tey steps back in shock. She was gasping, foam rolling down her lips.

"GET MY KIT AND SUMMON THE CLAN LEADER!" I roar, lying her on the ground.

"What happened?" Tsu'tey asks, the fear clear in his voice "I only had her hand."

When he steps forwards my hand swings out "BACK! YOU HAVE DONE ENOUGH!"

"MO'AT?!" my mate's voice breaks through the crowd.

"Here my love!" the basket of tools is set beside me

"What happened?!" his eyes flicker from Sophia's shaking form to Tsu'tey, the once proud warrior had stepped back four paces, head shaking.

"Too much has happened," when I glance up Tsu'tey had run, disappearing into the crowd "Take that arrow-head out of her hand!" my mate's fingers dig into the wound and yank it from her palm with two tugs.

"SOPHIA!" Jake Sulley's voice breaks through the crowd

"MOTHER?!" Neytiri's is next, the two of them are by our sides in moments

"Fuck! What happened?"

"Hold her hand steady." I place a good chunk of dried grass on her wound and grab my knife. it cracks against the rock in my palm a few times and I lean back as the pile bursts into flames. The smell of burning flesh and blood fills the air as I grab more things from the basket and mix them into the sticky tree sap. When the fire dies I dip some pieces of cloth into the sap and wrap it around her wounds.

"Mother," Neytiri says, already knowing the magnitude of what just happened.

"I know," I sigh "First I'll remove the energy from her body, then we will worry about her soul."

..

..

(Jake's pov) *present time*

I turn off the camera, rubbing my face again. I could really use a shave…

"Did Mo'at say anything about Sophia?"

I glance at Grace. She wasn't looking at me but the movement of her hands had stopped.

I scratch my chin "She thinks she jumped to early."

"Jumped?"

"Well they can connect with Eywa right? Like hear things that others can't?" Grace nods "Well apparently there's levels, tasks you complete before you get there."

"Yes, the Tsihik has the ability to go to Eywa and back again."

"Well her talisman was supposed to help her do that but when Tsu'tey pushed it into her hand she was basically sling shot into outer-space with no directions." my hand dives forwards like an arrow

"Sophia doesn't know how to find her way back and Mo'at's not sure where to look." she sighs

I nod "Right now its like trying to assemble an AK-47 in the dark, with a rookie that's never done it."

..

..

(Neytiri's POV)

I gave Seze a few pats and a fish before I release our bond. My dragon gives me a little whine, pushing on my chest with her head but I smile.

"Stay." I whispered, wandered through the forest and find my target "Why did I know I'd find you here?"

Tsu'tey turns to look at me.

"Neytiri." he sighs, lifting his hand in a proper greeting.

I stand beside him, looking at the forest "Why are you hiding here?"

"I'm not hiding." he huffs

"You are hiding, like a child." I tease, shoving his arm lightly.

"I am not hiding!" he growls "I'm… I'm… I'm lost…" he sighs, all anger leaving him "How can you stand to be near them? These aliens took everything from us and your siding with them."

"Them, or her?" I hold his gaze "Tsu'tey, she isn't like them."

"They are all the same. They come to us with false promises. Lies. A word we learned from them. I mean our people can't even dream of the concept, and yet they do it so easily. Like breathing. They poison everything around them."

"Have you watched her?"

"Haven't you been listening? All I do is watch her."

"I'm not talking about surveillance, I mean have you looked at her? Not with hostility or rage, just looked."

His head turns to me "… Where are you going with this?"

"Sophia is so worried about everyone else she can hardly take two steps without falling. She isn't some demon of deception Tsu'tey, she is a child pulled into the current and trying not to drown."

HIs face shifts, a hailstorm of emotion in those eyes. His lips curving in that pout he did when he was overwhelmed and trying not to show it.

"Well, maybe it don't want her as my mate." he sighs, sitting against a tree with a huff "I mean this is all messed up! First they take Sylwanin from me and now she steals your birth-right-"

"Do you love me?"

His face twists, shock in those yellow eyes "… what?"

I chuckle softly "Do you love me, Tsu'tey?"

More confusion fills his gaze "What kind of question is this, of course I love you."

"No, Tsu'tey." I lift a hand to his chest "I know you love me, I mean do you love me?" his mouth opens quickly, yet no words come out. I soften my gaze, hand sliding up to hold his cheek "You have loved my sister since the day you met, your heart was always hers. I took the role of Tsahìk because Sylwanin was taken from us. But it was never my path." his hand lifts holding mine "Your heart should be loved by one that loves yours, I can't give that too you." a few tears roll down my cheeks "And we both know that…."

I wipe away a few of his tears with my other hand "I wanted to make it work… for Sylwanin. I really wanted to make something good come out of her loss…" he whispers

"You still can," I smile "I see her Tsu'tey. I see my sister in Sophia. Watch her, and maybe you will see it too."

Read and review, peace.
