Chapter 7: Monster Mashionals - Part 2
Danny was worried. The Box Ghost being there was one thing since he was all bark and no bite but the Lunch Lady Ghost was an actual threat. 'I hope she's too afraid of the monsters to cause trouble here.' Danny thought.
Clawd then showed up. "Ghouls, your turn is about to come." He said and then looked at Jack Fenton. "You must be Danny's father."
"Yes, my name is Jack Fenton." Jack said, trying to be civil with the monsters. "And you are..."
"I'm Clawd Wolf." Clawd introduced himself. "I'm Clawdeen's brother. Nice to meet you."
"Same." Jack hesitantly said.
After the fear squad left, another werewolf girl showed up. "Clawd, is that the normie who's dating our sister?" She asked.
"Yes, Howleen." Clawd answered. "This is Danny Fenton and the big normie with him is his father Jack Fenton."
"Nice to meet you, Howleen." Danny said and offered a hand for a handshake.
Howleen then looked at both Danny and Jack. "Danny, do you think you'll become huge like him when you grow up?" She asked.
"I hope so." Jack commented.
Somehow, Danny considered it nearly as bad as his father assuming all monsters there were evil.
They eventually took their seats so they could watch the ghouls performing. "They're good." Jack commented.
"Better than the Casper High cheerleaders." Danny added.
"Cheerleader?" Howleen asked, now knowing that word.
"That's how normies call their fearleading, Howleen." Clawd explained.
After all fear squads ended their performances, everybody waited until the results were announced. Monster High's fear squad won again. "Congratulations!" Danny told the ghouls.
"Thank you, Danny." Clawdeen said.
A guy with flaming hair approached them. "Congratulations, ghouls." He then looked at Danny. "So, that's Danny Phantom's normie look?"
"Heath!" The ghouls scolded him.
"Oops, I forgot his Dad wasn't supposed to know." Heath apologized.
"Know what?" Jack asked.
That was a cue for the Box Ghost to reappear. "That your son is Danny Phantom, duh." He said. "You must really be an oaf as Plasmius says if you haven't realized it by now."
"You liar!" Jack accused the Box Ghost. "My ghost detection devices would've noticed it if my son was a ghost." He said and then produced his Fenton Finder. "Ghost standing next to you. You must be a fool to not notice it." The Fenton Finder said.
"Well, they did." The Box Ghost pointed out.
"That's a malfunction." Jack said and produced another device.
"What's that?" Spectra Vondergeist asked.
"What's that? Fear me." The device said.
"It's the Ghost Gabber." Jack proudly answered in spite of the asker being a ghost. "It translates ghost speech."
"It just repeated what I said and added 'fear me'." Spectra pointed out.
"It just repeated what I said and added 'fear me'. Fear me." The Ghost Gabber said.
"That's because you're already speaking English." Jack explained. "Try to speak in another language."
"Bonjour." Spectra said.
"Good morning. Fear me." The Ghost Gabber said.
"See?" Jack asked in triumph. "Albeit I'm still curious about why it treats Danny like he's a ghost."
"Because he IS a ghost." The Box Ghost said.
"Because he IS a ghost. Fear me." The Ghost Gabber said.
"No way!" Jack protested. "At most, he's got some ectoplasmic contamination." He then realized what he'd just said. "Son, we're doing an ecto check-up after we're back home." He stated and then noticed his son glaring at the Box Ghost. "Danny, I'm glad you're hating that ghost but, unless he's the one to blame for your contamination, don't blame him."
"Okay, Dad." Danny reluctantly replied.
After the monsters left the fearleading camp, Jack started driving Danny home. "Don't worry, son." Jack tried to reassure Danny. "The sooner your mother and I examine you, the sooner you'll be rid of that contamination and hopefully that monster girl will no longer feel attracted to you and you'll no longer want anything with her without ghostly pheromones."
"Ghostly pheromones?" Danny asked, having never heard about those before.
"To be fair, son, that's just a theory." Jack commented. "I believe something about your ecto-contamination might make you attractive to monsters and you attracted to them."
Now Danny was worried Clawdeen wouldn't like him if he were a regular human. The monster world didn't seem fond of 'normies' even if not going out of their way to attack anybody.
As Jack was driving himself and his son back home, they noticed Maddie fighting Skulker, who was holding Tucker and Sam hostages. "Release my son's best friends right now, ghost." Maddie demanded.
"No way." Skulker replied. "They're the perfect bait to catch that whelp."
"Who?" Maddie asked.
Watching that, Jack decided to interfere. "Son, you weren't trained for hostage situations. Stay hidden while I help your mother." He ordered Danny.
"Okay, Dad." Danny replied, secretly glad he won't need an excuse to leave to go ghost.
"Why do you believe Danny Phantom would care about any humans?" Maddie asked Skulker. "And why these two over anyone else?"
"As much as I'd love to tell, there's someone other than him who'd be upset if I told you." Skulker answered. To his surprise, Jack Fenton suddenly tackled him. "What?" The surprised hunter asked.
"Wow." Danny Phantom said. "I guess I'm not needed." He then returned to the spot Jack left him and changed back into Danny Fenton. "Are you okay?" He asked his parents and his friends once they approached him.
"Yes, but I wonder why that ghost thought Danny Phantom would care about your friends." Maddie replied.
"I think I know but we need to discuss this at home." Jack commented. "Danny, are you okay with your friends being there for that?"
"Yes, Dad." Danny reluctantly answered.
At Fentonworks, Jack told the others about his concerns about Danny being contaminated. "And there's a ghost saying our son is Danny Phantom?" Maddie asked in outrage.
"Yeah but, regardless of that, I'm concerned about Danny having an ecto-contamination and that being the reason some of our devices identify him as a ghost." Jack replied.
Danny then decided to open up. "Mom, Dad, remember about when the portal was activated with me inside it?" He asked.
"Yes, Danny." Maddie answered. "Is that where you think your contamination came from?"
"I'm going ghost." Danny sadly said and turned himself into Danny Phantom, shocking everyone. His parents because they didn't know and Tucker and Sam because they didn't think he'd tell.
Jazz then showed up. "Mom, Dad, what..." She then saw Danny as Phantom. "Aaaaahhhhh! Danny Phantom! Do something!" She unconvincingly said.
"You already knew, right?" Jack asked with a deadpan tone.
"Well, I don't wanna intrude into what's clearly a Fenton Family matter so, goodbye and..." Tucker tried to leave but Jack stopped him.
"You and Sam already knew too, right?" Jack asked with a frown.
"Can you blame us for not trusting you after how you and Mrs. Fenton talk about dissecting ghosts?" Sam asked Jack.
Jack and Maddie's initial reaction was to say "yes" but they thought over it and understood where the teenagers were coming from. "I suppose not but Danny must be examined for other unexpected effects." Jack said.
"Will it hurt?" Danny asked in fear.
"I'm afraid so, son." Jack sadly replied.
"But first, we must talk about your actions as Danny Phantom." Maddie firmly stated. "And please change back into your human form."
After a very long discussion, the Fenton parents were digesting everything. "Wow, you gave us a lot to think about, Danny." Maddie commented.
"But there's something I don't get." Jack commented. "If you gained your powers from our portal, shouldn't Vlad's accident with the proto-portal have done the same to him?" He asked and then saw Danny's, Jazz's, Sam's and Tucker's faces. "You know more than you're telling, right?"
"Dad, we still have a lot to tell you." Danny solemnly stated. "For starters, he calls his ghostly self Vlad Plasmius but you know him as The Wisconsin Ghost."
"NO!" Jack shouted. "I thought he no longer hated me."
"It turns out he's obsessed with Mom and is trying to get rid of you." Danny explained.
"Jack, remember that time the DALV group invited Danny and me to a symposium?" Maddie asked and told her husband about what she already knew about Vlad's plot back then.
"How could he?" Jack asked and then turned his attention back to Danny. "Son, tell me everything you know about Vlad's crimes."
Feeling like he could trust his father, Danny told everything. "We will have a lot to think about." Jack said.
"Can't we just report him?" Tucker asked.
"We'd have to explain how we know all of it." Maddie replied.
"At least you won't be hostile with Danny Phantom anymore." Sam commented.
"Don't be so sure." Jack replied, shocking everyone. "After all, people might suspect something if Maddie and I start going all chummy with Phantom. At best, we would try to present it as reluctantly trusting him to fight other ghosts for sake of keeping up appearances; or to schedule patrols at different areas to avoid public interactions."
Sam was the first one to talk afterwards. "Wow. Well thought, Mr. Fenton." She commented.
"Sam, do your parents know you're risking yourself by helping Danny Phantom?" Jack asked.
"What about yours, Tucker?" Maddie asked.
"They don't know." Sam answered.
"Mine neither, Mrs. Fenton." Tucker added.
"Sam, Tucker, it's one thing when you just happen to be nearby when a ghost attacks or decide to go out of your ways to help others being attacked by ghosts but we cannot condone you going on patrols with our son unless your parents approve it." Maddie pointed out.
"What about those students who were being coached by you when Walker and his goons made it known to Amity Park that ghosts exist?" Sam asked, believing there were no way their parents allowed that.
"Their parents authorized us to coach them and to offer them a safe place from ghosts but not to take them into battle, Sam." Jack explained.
"Fine, we only help if we're already nearby." Sam said but the rest of Team Phantom didn't seem convinced that she meant it.
"Okay." Jack replied and then whispered to Danny. "I just said that to have plausible deniability, son."
"Now that's settled, we have something important to discuss." Maddie stated. "It's regarding Clawdeen."
"True." Tucker agreed. "Does she have a sister?"
"Yes. Her name is Howleen." Jack answered and then noticed Maddie's face. "But I think Maddie meant something more important than that."
"Yes." Maddie replied. "Danny, do you really trust Clawdeen?"
"Yes, Mom." Danny answered.
"I don't." Sam muttered. "Too much of a valley girl to my taste not to mention she's a cheerleader."
"And better than those at Casper High." Danny replied.
"Please, don't remind me." Sam asked while making a disgusted face. "I still can't stomach the fact monster girls aren't like those from the Trinity of Doom."
"You really want an excuse to hate Danny's girlfriend, don't you?" Jack accused Sam. "Why don't you just tell him the truth?"
"Which truth?" Danny asked.
"You're so clueless." Jack asked.
"People keep telling me that but I still don't know why I should consider it the truth." Danny commented.
"Takes after his Dad." Tucker whispered to Sam.
