Chapter 11: The Other Halfas

Danielle "Dani" Phantom was aimlessly flying around when she felt weak and landed. To her horror, she saw ectoplasm oozing from her like before Danny stabilized her with Ecto-Dejecto. Her horror increased even more when she felt her ghost sense. "Is there something wrong?" The approaching ghost asked her.

Dani was too exhausted to answer before passing out and reverting to human form.

Meanwhile, at Fentonworks, Jack and Maddie finally decided it was safe to restore Danny's powers. "I never thought I'd miss being able to do that." Danny commented as he flew around the house.

"Fortunately, since you still retained some of your ectoplasm, you won't have to relearn how to use your powers." Maddie commented.

"Fortunately indeed." Sam muttered while thinking about that time when she wished she and Danny never met.

Danny's phone then rang. "Clawdeen?"

"What does she want now?" Sam asked with a frown.

"Hopefully, it's about Howleen." Tucker hopefully said.

"Spectra what?" Danny suddenly asked.

"Are they talking about Spectra Vondergeist or Penelope Spectra?" Tucker asked.

"From Danny's reaction, I'm afraid it's the latter." Sam commented.

"Wrong." Danny said. "It's Spectra Vondergeist. She found my clone in Oregon near Monster High."

"Clone?" Jack, Maddie and Jazz asked in shock.

Before explaining, Danny set it so Clawdeen could hear it as well. "Long story short, Plasmius tried to clone me and the only clone to survive was a girl he named Danielle Phantom." Danny explained. "Dani with an I."

"How original." Clawdeen sarcastically muttered.

"Anyway, how's she?" Danny asked.

"She's not feeling well, Danny." Clawdeen sadly answered. "She's oozing some ectoplasm."

"I thought I had already stabilized her!" Danny exclaimed in horror. "Where's she?"

"She's at Monster High." Clawdeen answered. "It was the nearest place with medical equipment."

"I'll go there as soon as possible!" Danny said and ended the call. "Mom, Dad, I need more Ecto-Dejecto!"

"We don't have any and, either way, you shouldn't use it unless it's really necessary since we don't know its long-time effects, son." Jack replied, afraid Danny planned to use it on himself.

"It's for Dani, Dad." Danny explained.

"We can make a new batch but, even if it works, your father's concerns about long-time effects are still valid." Maddie pointed out.

After Danny accepted those risks, his parents made more Ecto-Dejecto and he took some with him to Monster High, where everyone was surprised that he was a half-ghost again. "I would have come sooner but I had to wait until my parents made more of the serum that helped her last time." He said.

At the school nursery, Danny once again stabilized Dani's body. "Thanks, cuz." She said. "I hope the Ecto-Dejecto lasts longer this time." She commented.

"I doubt it." A monster who reminded Danny of a chainsaw-wielding cannibal from a movie said. "You must be the ghost-normie hybrid my "patient" was made of. I'm Mr. Hackington, Monster High's Mad Science teacher."

"I'm Danny Fenton." Danny replied after recovering from the shock. "But you may call me Danny Phantom, Mr. Hackington."

"And you may call me Mr. Hack." Mr. Hackington replied. "That's what I'm usually called. About young Ms. Phantom here, I'm afraid I need to know more about the remedy you gave her before I can give a more definitive diagnosis."

"Alright, then." Danny replied and explained about Ecto-Dejecto. "So, you treated your clone with an experimental serum and took it for granted that its effects would last?" Mr. Hackington asked.

"Uh, yes?" Danny answered.

"Anyway, Ecto-Dejecto seems to work like a continuous use medication." Mr. Hackington commented. "I would like to have a sample to analyze to know the consequences of long-term usage. For all I know, her organism might eventually reject it and she'll need a more permanent solution."

"I'll talk to my parents about it, Mr. Hack." Danny replied.

"By the way, have you used that serum on yourself, Mr. Phantom?" Mr. Hackington asked.

"No, Sir." Danny answered.

"Good, because we don't know how addictive this thing is." The Mad Science teacher commented. "About you, Ms. Phantom, I advise you not to go too far from the nearest source of Ecto-Dejecto available until we know more about your condition."

"Loud and clear, Sir." Dani replied.

Mr. Hackington nodded in approval and turned his attention back to Danny. "If you don't mind, I'd like to meet the ghosts your parents used as test subjects for the Ecto-Dejecto."

While Danny was trying to come up with an answer that wouldn't offend the monsters, Vlad Masters was trying to regain his ghostly self. Danny's family heard someone knocking on their door. "Who's there?" Jack asked.

"Masters' Blasters stop disasters!" They sung and then forced their way in. "Mr. Fenton, this is an order signed by Mayor Masters requesting you to deliver us the ghost who was overshadowing him." Vid said while showing Jack a piece of paper.

"You and Mayor Masters have no right!" Maddie protested.

Unbeknownst to the Fentons or even the Masters' Blasters, that was just a distraction while Vlad's ghost vultures phased him in. "Excellent." Vlad said and then looked around for the Fenton Thermos containing Plasmius. It turned out to have a note with "Plasmius" written on it. "Jack, always an oaf." Vlad happily commented as he opened the thermos. Both Vlads then used the Fenton Ghost Catcher to merge back into one.

"Welcome back, boss." One of the ghost vultures said.

"Go back home, you bird brains." Vlad ordered and then flew to the living room. "I'm free!" He announced to the Fentons and the Blasters, the latter of whom tried to capture Vlad but their weapons didn't work on him and he fled.

"This is your fault!" Download told Jack and Maddie.

"Let's check the security cameras first." Maddie replied, secretly glad for Tucker's idea.

Later on, Danny returns home, finding not only his family but also Tucker and Sam. "What happened?" He asked.

"Bad news, Vlad recovered his ghost half." Sam said.

"Good news, my plan worked." Tucker added with a smirk.

Moments later, Vlad was resting at his mansion, glad to have his ghostly half back. "I feel complete again." He commented.

However, his relief was short-lived as the Guys in White barged in. "Vlad Masters, in accordance with the Federal Anti-Ecto Control Act, Article 1, Section 1, Sub-section A, you're under arrest." Operative O said.

"You're also accused of breaking and entering." Operative K added.

"Daniel must have made another prank call." Vlad said, hoping it would make the Guys in White leave.

"The Fentons had cameras installed inside the lab where you regained your ghost powers, Wisconsin Ghost." Operative O stated.

"Oh, butter biscuits." Vlad muttered.

"If ghosts had rights, you'd have the right to remain silent." Operative O stated. "If we had to bother with a trial, everything you say might be used against you in a court of law. You don't have the right to have any attorneys during questioning. You cannot pay anyway because we're seizing your assets."

"Too bad, gentlemen, otherwise I could pay you to leave me alone." Vlad suggested. "I'll even throw in Danny Phantom's identity. He's Daniel James Fenton."

"Nice try, Masters." Operative K sarcastically replied. "That boy is too prepubescent to be Danny Phantom."

Realizing there's no peaceful way out, Vlad turned himself into Vlad Plasmius and generated three duplicates to fight the Guys in White. In spite of the fruitloop's best efforts, he was outnumbered and captured. "Vlad Masters, resisting arrested will be added to the list of charges because of this." Operative O said.

That night, it was reported on the news that the Guys in White searched Vlad's mansion and found documentation of the illegal things he did to amass his fortune. "Good." Jack commented. "Now we won't have to expose Danny to tell about those."

"True but I'm worried about what'll happen if Vlad left behind notes about his cloning experiments." Maddie replied.

"Don't worry, Mads." Jack reassured her. "She's safe and sound in the Monster World."

Concerned about Dani, Danny flew back to Monster High. "Mr. Phantom, I respect your concern for your cousin but we should start scheduling your visits." Mr. Hackington commented.

Danny and Dani met at the creepateria. "So, Vlad's behind bars?" Dani happily asked.

"Yes but my parents are worried he might have left behind some notes regarding your existence." Danny replied.

"Don't worry, cousin." Dani said. "Headless Headmistress Bloodgood reassured me no monster around here would reject me and being somebody's clone doesn't make me less of a ghoul."

"Headless?" Danny asked in confusion. "How does she talk without a mouth?"

"I do have a head, Mr. Phantom." Headless Headmistress Nora Bloodgood said as she revealed her presence. Danny was intimidated by her sheer size and her horse. "It's just not attached to my body. Am I clear?"

"Y-y-yes, Headmistress Bloodgood." Danny fearfully answered.

"Anyway, your cousin could enroll at Monster High but we need an adult to act as her guardian." Bloodgood said. "As the parents of the monster she was cloned from, your parents qualify."

"Can't I enroll her here?" Danny asked. He was ashamed of himself for not thinking about her education until now.

"You're not an adult yet, Mr. Phantom." The Headless Headmistress explained.

At that moment, Monster High's fear squad showed up. "Ghouls, we need more practice time." Cleo told the others.

"Cleo, we need time to study and..." Clawdeen replied until she noticed Danny. "Danny, what a surprise! Are you enrolling?"

"No, I'm just visiting Dani." Danny explained. "Albeit we might enjoy a date later. What do you think, Clawdeen?"

"Sorry, Danny." Clawdeen replied. "But we must study for an upcoming Mad Science test."

"You don't wanna make Mr. Hackington mad." Frankie added.

"True." Danny agreed. He barely knew the guy but was nearly as scared of him as he's afraid of Coach Teslaff.

"Passing the test is easy." Cleo commented. "Just sit next to Ghoulia and copy her answers."

"Moan." Ghoulia replied with a frown.

"What're you going to do?" Cleo asked in disdain. "Tell Mr. Hack on me?"

"She doesn't have to, Ms. De Nile." Mr. Hackington answered, revealing his presence. "Detention."

"I've heard that any students of his who are late for his class even by one second must attend classes at Saturday." Dani told Danny.

"Okay, now I'm more afraid of him than I'm afraid of Coach Tetslaff." Danny commented.

"But there's also a teacher with a funny name." Dani said. "Mr. Loser."

"His name is Lou Zarr." The Headless Headmistress corrected Dani.

Danny eventually returned to Fentonworks and told his family and friends about his visit. "Ugh, stop reminding me that monster girls are also cheerleaders." Sam asked in disgust.

"Focus, Sam." Tucker replied. "Is there really a teacher named "Loser"?"

"Lou Zarr, Tucker." Danny answered.

"His parents probably knew he'd become a teacher if they gave him that name." Tucker commented.

"He probably went to therapy at some point." Jazz theorized.

Answer to guest: He had other plans and I'm not sure Danny would either way.

Answer to guest:

1 - At least regarding Sam's feelings.

2 - At least she has the excuse of being concerned about ghosts too powerful for the Blasters.

3 - She wouldn't cross the lines the fruitloop did even if she also had ghost powers.

4 - The Fentons would have to explain how they know the truth.
