Amari was walking back towards his new home, his Eevee, Tera, treading beside him.

Though Amari didn't notice at first, his Eevee kept looking around and sniffing, almost as is sensing like something, no...as if someone was following them, watching them...

"Is something wrong, Tera...?" Amari asked, turning around as he finally noticed the Eevee's cautious movement.

She looked around again before shaking her head, prompting Amari to continue walking.

Little did they know, someone was watching them.

"So, that little pet of his noticed me...might have to kill it as well...maybe it can be dinner..." The mysterious figure said, as it went back into the shadows once more.

Amari eventually made it to the door of his home.

He went to knock, before hearing something behind him.

He snapped his head back, looking around frantically.

"H-Hello...?" He asked, shivering as he continued to look around his surroundings.

Then he felt a hand on his shoulder.

He snapped his head upwards the look at whatever placed its hands on him.

His heart had sank at who it was.

It was a man.

He was 6'2, had a beard that looked like it hadn't been shaven in months, and looked almost exactly like Amari, if not just a much more older version of him.

"Hey, ya' little shit." The figure said.

Amari recognized that voice too well.

It was his father.

He began trying to reach for the door.

But before he could do anything...

THWACK!

He got hit on his head, making him dizzy.

He tried to reach his hand out, trying to move his body, but it was useless.

He saw his Tera trying to defend him, as it managed to bite his father's leg, eliciting a pained yell out of him.

"You damn brat!" The man screamed, as he kicked the Eevee, knocking it towards the hard brick of the house, which promptly knocked her out almost instantly.

"T-Tera!" Amari exclaimed, worried sick for his Eevee as he tried to crawl to it, only to be stopped completely by his father putting his foot on his back.

"D-Dad...please..." Amari begged, on the verge of tears.

"Don't call me your "father" when you have another family, you waste of space..." The man said, cutting off Amari. "To think after all I've done for you, you decide to go to another family..." He continued.

"T-That's not-AGH-!" Amari tried to argue, before feeling his father apply more pressure onto his back, causing him to yell in pain.

"Shut up." His father said flatly. "You don't get to talk, not after what you've put me and the rest of our family through..." He continued.

Amari felt his vision going blurry, and his body becoming more and more unresponsive.

He was running out of time to do something, anything.

With his life on the line, and no other options...

"Someone please, HELP!" He screamed out loudly, hoping somebody in his home heard it.

And thankfully, they did.

The door swung open with a loud BANG!

"Amari, are you-HOLY ARCEUS!" Ash screamed out in shock, as his face then turning to one that showed anger. "Let go of him, you monster!" He said, his teeth clenched.

"Pika..." His Pikachu growled beside him, its cheeks sparkling with electricity.

"So this is your family..." Amari's father said, a smile creeping onto his face.

The man tried moving closer towards Ash, but stopped as the boy's Pikachu jumped between the two, growling and sparking its cheeks with electricity, ready to strike at any time.

"Tsk, damn animals..." The man cursed.

"Back off, or else you'll be sorry!" Ash said, standing his ground confidently.

"Or WHAT?" The man said, as he pulled out a Pokéball, one that Amari recognized all too well as he looked at its details.

"N-No...D-Dad, please...!" He begged his father, but it was too late.

Upon hitting the ground, a black, scar-covered Charizard emerged from the Pokéball, angry and ready to fight.

Or in this case, kill.

Ash cursed inside of his head.

How was he supposed to beat a Charizard of all things?!

"Oh, now you understand your place, huh?" Amari's father asked mockingly.

"Just to make sure you don't try anything, either..." The man continued, as he snapped his fingers.

The Charizard flew over and grabbed Amari into a "bear hug", squeezing him tightly enough to start breaking and dislocating bones.

"A-AHHHH-!" Amari screamed in pain once more.

Ash flinched, his face getting even angrier.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded, pointing towards the Charizard that was squeezing Amari to death.

"Pikaaa...CHUUU-!" Ash's Pikachu screamed out, releasing a large wave of electricity towards the Charizard, shocking the pokémon.

The Charizard howled in pain as he let go of Amari, causing him to drop into the ground, unable to move.

Luckily, the Charizard had also been paralyzed, as it also laid on the ground, completely knocked out.

"Shit...you damn brat, that was my best Pokémon!" The man cursed at Ash.

He went to pull out another Pokéball, but before he could, he was surrounded with some type of aura, and then he felt like as if he was paralyzed.

"Ugh, what the-?!" The man said, both shocked and surprised.

He then looked up, and what he saw made his heart drop to his stomach.

Two Pokémon, ones that didn't look like they were normal.

Their eyes emitted a bright glow, displaying their anger.

You despicable waste of life... One of the Pokémon said.

The other one didn't speak.

Instead, they acted.

With one swift motion, they raised their hand up, and threw the man in a random direction, sending him flying through the forest, until he eventually couldn't be seen anymore.

'...You should've killed him.' Mewtwo said, his eyes narrowed.

'I would rather not anger Ms. Ketchum like you have done in the past.' Newtwo responded.

'Hmph...' Mewtwo grunted, as he then turned around to see Amari, freezing in shock.

'Amari?! ' Newtwo, on the other hand, flew over to Amari, worried.

She crouched down to his level, examining his brutally injured and slightly bloody body.

Ash, get Delia, NOW! She commanded.

"R-Right!" Ash said, running back towards the house to get his mother.

Newtwo looked back at Amari, trying to calm him down.

'Hey, hey, it'll be okay...you're gonna be okay...' She said, trying to soothe him the best way she could think of.

Amari, on the other hand, was barely hanging on by a thread.

"Nnh...Mmn..." He groaned weakly, unable to even speak.

His body writhed in pain.

He couldn't move.

Blood kept pouring from every wound in his body.

He couldn't calm down or anything; It just hurt too much.

Then, he felt a small paw on his hand.

'Shh...relax...'

Amari opened his eyes, seeing Mew above him, her body and eyes emitting a blue aura.

He felt his body relaxing, his pain dying down to a point where it was tolerable.

Rest. Mew said calmly.

Amari suddenly felt sleepy, and closed his eyes, falling unconscious.

Darkness, pitch black.

Then a bright light burned through it.

Eventually, it engulfed his entire vision, making him open his eyes slowly.

He looked around.

Above him, a mounted TV that displayed the news channel.

To his left, a heart rate monitor that showed his vitals, as well as a I.V. that was pumping some weird looking fluid into him.

He was in a hospital bed.

He sighed, lying back down.

"Was it a dream...?" He asked himself, looking at his hand.

After looking down to see his bandaged wounds, it was clear it wasn't, much to his dismay.

"Just great..." He mumbled to himself.

By now he had realized he was in a hospital.

But before he could think any further, he was quickly interrupted by a loud but weak"Eevee!", snapping him out of his thoughts.

"T-Tera...?" Amari asked, his body trembling in disbelief.

"Eevee!" Tera replied.

Tears welled up in his eyes.

He shook like a toothpick.

He tried to say something, anything.

But all he could do was grab her and hug her tightly.

"I-I'm so glad...you're okay...I thought you were gone..." Amari finally spoke up, his voice broken.

Tera simply nuzzled and licked his face, glad to see her owner happy.

"Seems like someone's happy to be alive." A male voice suddenly spoke up, getting the two's attention.

Amari looked up to see his Step-Grandfather, Oak.

"O-Oh, h-hi, Grandpa..." He said, frowning slightly. "What are you doing here...?" He asked.

Oak walked up towards Amari's hospital bed.

"To check up on you, but first..." Oak said, as he hugged Amari.

"I'm glad you're okay, Amari." He said. "I knew I should've walked you home, and yet I still left you alone..." He continued, frowning deeply. "I'm sorry for not being responsible." He apologized.

Amari's eyes widened, and he shook his head.

"T-There's no need to apologize for anything, Oak...I should've known that he would try something..." He responded. "You can only do so much as a scientist, I'm sure you had much more important things to do than worry over me..." He said.

Oak shook his head in response.

"Amari, you are important to me..." Oak admitted, holding the boy's hand tightly. "You're my grandson, one that needs the most attention more than anything right now, and yet, here you are in the hospital, nearly in critical condition..." He continued, squeezing the boy's hand as tears threatened to fall. "You're as important as Ash or any of my own sons..." He said.

Amari froze, letting Oak's words set in.

Then tears started to fall.

Amari took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself, but it was futile.

And so, with no other way to find comfort, besides the Eevee sitting on his lap...

...He pulled his Grandfather in for a hug.

"I-I'm sorry...I-I didn't mean to worry you..." He said, the tone of his voice faltering.

Oak hugged the boy back in return, tightly but not enough to flare up his injuries.

"I know you didn't, my boy..." Oak responded, rubbing Amari's back.

After a few minutes of comfort, the two finally regained enough composure to change topics.

"So, now that we've gotten our emotions out, do you mind if the rest of your family comes in now?" Oak asked.

"The rest of them came...?" Amari asked.

Oak nodded.

"W-Well, might as well..." Amari said.

Oak pressed a button on a Rotom-shaped speaker, before he began to speak.

"Yes, this is Oak; you can let them in now." He said.

It didn't take even a minute until the door swung open with a loud slam.

"AMARI!" Delia exclaimed, tears practically spraying from her eyes as she hugged him tightly, holding him close to her chest.

Ash, on the other hand, walked up slowly towards Amari, his expression blank.

"A-Ash...?" Amari asked, a worried expression forming on his face.

No response came from Ash.

Then suddenly, he was hugged.

"A-Ash...?" Amari asked in both surprise and shock.

"NEVER do something like that again..." Ash said flatly, his voice sounding emotional, something not many people see from the usually-ecstatic trainer.

Amari frowned slightly, knowing what Ash meant by that statement.

He wrapped his arms around his stepbrother, hugging him tightly.

"I-I won't...I promise." He said, his voice shaking slightly.

They both stayed silent as they held their positions for a little longer, both Oak and Delia watching their children comfort each other, smiles on their faces.

Eventually, they both broke the hug.

"Are your injuries bad?" Ash asked.

"T-They're throbbing a little, but it's nothing I can't handle..."Amari responded. "Oak was actually going to do a quick check-up with me..." He continued.

"Right, almost forgot about that." Oak said, pressing another button on his walkie-talkie and speaking into it, this time requesting a Nurse Joy to be sent to the room.

Not even a minute later, one walked in.

"Someone requested for a check-up?" The Nurse Joy asked.

"Yes, that was me." Oak responded. "I'd like your help with this boy here." He said.

The Nurse Joy nodded.

"Of course." She said, grabbing a few tools and equipment to treat Amari.

Amari stiffened slightly upon seeing a scalpel nearing his skin.

"Scared?" Oak asked playfully, hoping to cheer the joy up.

"A little..." Amari answered. "A lot of...trauma...with sharp objects..." He said.

Oak nodded his head, knowing all too well that Amari meant.

"I-It won't hurt too bad, right...?" Amari asked, a little worried.

"It will, but it's necessary for your recovery." Delia spoke up, her voice flat but caring.

Amari took a deep breath.

"Just...be gentle..." He said, turning his head away.

And so, the two began their work on treating Amari's injuries.

The treatment hurt like hell.

He winced and gasped in pain, screaming like a madman into his pillow to muffle out the sound.

His body ached, and his limbs felt sore.

He was exhausted, but he couldn't sleep due to the pain.

"Amari, sweetheart...are you okay?" Delia asked, noticing the boy's distress.

"Everything...hurts...Nnh..." Amari responded, his voice weak.

'Everything will be alright.' A familiar female voice echoed inside of his head.

'W-What the...?' Amari said in his head. 'Mew...?' He asked.

A small chuckle echoed in his head as a response, confirming his suspicion.

'Yes, it's me, Amari.' Mew said, her body showing an invisible outline as he looked more closely towards her. 'Came to visit you, was worried you'd be...y'know.' She explained.

'Yeah, dead...' Amari responded, frowning slightly as he looked down towards his bedsheets.

It had been a while since he last ended up in the hospital, hadn't it...?

It had to be when he was just starting to enjoy his freedom...

But once again, his past catches up to him, and it nearly cost him his life this time.

Pathetic...

Pathetic...

Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathetic...

Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathetic...

'Hey...'

PATHETIC, PATHETIC, PATHETIC...

'Amari-'

Nothing but a worthless scum-

'ENOUGH!' Mew's voice rang loud in Amari's head, being more than enough to snap him out of his self-depreciation.

Amari could feel the angry but caring glare coming from Mew, almost like as if there was an aura coming off of it.

'I REFUSE to allow someone like you to berate yourself any longer than you already have...' She said. 'You will promise me you WILL NOT do it ever again.' She said, the tone demanding.

'But-'

'No.'

'I can't just-'

'No.'

'Mew, I-'

'You WILL.' Mew snapped, her voice full of frustration and slight anger.

Amari froze, getting flashbacks to his old mother.

I own you, and there's nothing you can do about it.

The gall to call you my son...what a waste...

Don't expect your happiness to last long, you waste of seed.

He didn't even realized he was tearing up, sniffling slightly.

He also didn't realize the others had been watching.

"Amari, is something wrong...?" Delia asked, placing a hand on his arm.

Amari slapped her hand away, his reflexes kicking in accidentally.

Delia froze, shocked by her stepson's actions.

"Amari, dear...?" Delia asked once again, this time much more worried for his wellbeing.

"I-I'm fine...just...some bad memories is all..." He spoke up, his voice cracking from the effort of holding back his emotions.

"If...If I can ask, what are they about?" Delia asked.

Amari looked at her with a mix of skepticism and uncertainty on his face.

"For me, please?" She pried further.

Amari was still reluctant, but eventually...

"O-Okay, I'll tell you..." He said, giving in.

Delia smiled softly.

"Thank you." She responded.

Amari's explanation of his past was nothing short of horrible.

It was basic; Drugs, Alcohol, Violence...Rape.

His sister was a porn star, his older brother sold fentanyl...

...His father was a drunkie, while his mother was a heroin addict.

His much younger brother was mostly neutral; Never hurt him or anyone, but still had his father's manipulation.

Overall, it was nowhere near difficult to see why he was like this.

"T-That's about it..." Amari said, finishing his explanation.

Delia was silent for a few seconds, before pulling the teenage boy into a tight hug.

She fought every part of her body to not cry.

This boy, this child that was barely the age of an adult had been through hell and back.

Even though it wasn't her fault, she felt like it was.

Like as if she could've done something.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that, sweetie..." She finally spoke up, her voice shaky.

"It's fine, all in the past anyway..." Amari responded, frowning softly as he hugged his stepmother back.

He felt Mew kneading and rubbing his hair, trying to provide some form of comfort for the boy.

His Eevee rubbed against his body and hand, purring softly to help the boy relax.

Ash simply frowned softly at his stepbrother, feeling his own form of guilt as he pet his equally-as-upset Pikachu.

'You have us now, don't forget that.' Mew said inside of the boy's head.

Amari eventually relaxed, enjoying the first good amount of comfort he was provided for the first time in his entire life.

Welp, Chapter 4 is finally done.

Once again, apologies for the huge delays between new chapters; I've been busy with other things.
