Snowflakes drifted lazily through the cold winter air, settling on the ground and crunching underfoot as Dino and Hibari strolled down the quiet path. The streets were serene, lit with soft white lights, and the world felt peaceful.
Dino adjusted his scarf, glancing over at Hibari, who walked beside him with his usual calm demeanor, hands tucked into the pockets of his coat. "Kyoya," Dino started, his voice light, "do you prefer winter or summer?"
Hibari didn't answer right away, his gaze fixed ahead on the snow-covered trees. After a moment, he replied, "Summer."
Dino raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. "Really? Why summer?"
Hibari sighed faintly, as if the answer should have been obvious. "Winter is cold. It slows everything down. Summer is efficient. Things grow, people move, and everything feels alive. I prefer that."
Dino chuckled. "Efficient, huh? That's very you." He smiled warmly and turned his eyes to the snowflakes gathering in Hibari's hair. "I like winter better. Because–"
Hibari glanced at him, puzzled by the tone of Dino's voice.
Dino grinned, stepping closer. "–I can do this." Without warning, he pulled Hibari into a firm hug, wrapping his arms around him and holding him close.
Hibari stiffened, clearly caught off guard. "What are you doing?" he muttered, his voice sharp but not entirely unkind.
"Hugging you," Dino replied cheerfully. "It's the best part of winter. I get an excuse to hold you like this without you biting me to death."
Hibari sighed, his breath visible in the cold air. "You're an idiot."
"Yeah, but I'm your idiot," Dino said with a laugh, tightening his embrace.
Hibari didn't respond, though he made no move to pull away. Perhaps winter wasn't so bad, after all.
