The next morning as Renoa was pulling clothes out of her suitcase to hang up, Momo came running into the room, screaming joy. Renoa quickly dropped the shirt and hugged her niece.
"It's so good to see you again Mo." Renoa said.
"Same here Aunty R." Momo said.
Renoa then held Momo back and took in how beautiful her niece had become, "Look at that I don't see you for a few years and you turn into a runway model."
Momo laughed and said, "You won't believe how often dad had to chase boys away. And I haven't showered yet."
"Well you're already a knockout, I'm sure the boys at your new school are knocking each other's teeth out." Renoa said as she broke the embrace and went back to emptying her suitcase.
"Not really, since I kind of already have one." Momo said.
"Not even a month and you have a boyfriend, you scandal. Has your father met him?" Renoa said.
"Kind of." Momo said as she hopped onto the bed.
"And he didn't run away, brave boy. Oh I can just imagine how he looks, how he acts." Renoa said.
"Actually he's nothing like your type. He's short, sweet, kind, and almost adorable." Momo said.
Renoa smiled and said, "Well it was going to be hard to find a boy you were able to look up at."
"Knock it off." Momo said and threw a pillow at her aunt, "Midoriya is sweet."
"Midoriya, at least you aren't on a first name basis. Or I'm sure your father would die of a heart attack." Renoa as she hung a shirt up in the closet and then dramatically turned to look at her niece, "So what's his name."
Momo tried to stop herself but then blurted out, "Izuku."
"Awww, you're right, that is adorable. Tell me more about him." Renoa said as she walked back to the bed.
"He is short, but so caring. Really kind and he plays lacrosse and goes against guys nearly twice his size."
"Oh." Renoa said.
"His mom is a nurse, so he helps around the house all the time. He works at a vet clinic, that's actually how I met him." Momo said
"So mature. But the way your father told it, you hit a dog" Renoa said.
Momo's shoulder's dropped and said, "Yeah, but hey I got to meet him outside of school. We went to a school party and then had an official date last weekend." Momo then noticed Renoa hadn't touched one of her bags, so she began to reach for it, "Need any help with this one."
As Momo's hand got close to the bag, Renoa suddenly reached over and gripped Momo's hand. Then Renoa realized what she had done and released her niece's hand, "Sorry, kiddo, but your father might have begun your training, but the stuff I carry isn't for hands like yours. I still say your father shouldn't have started your train yet. Our father didn't start my training until we were already in high school. Your father was a special case."
"No worries. I did know." Momo said as she sat down on the bed.
Renoa disappeared into the bathroom connected to her room, while Momo asked, "How's your car?"
"Oh the battery just suddenly died on me. Needed a jump start." Renoa called out from the bathroom then stood in the doorway, "I tell you, I've always preferred old american cars. They were built to last."
Momo was confused about her aunt's response, as her father said the issue had been a flat tire. Maybe it had just been a miscommunication. But it didn't matter as Momo's favorite aunt was in town and she was going to be able to spend some time with her. But that was later as Momo still needed to get ready for school.
At school Izuku was feeling stressed. Though luckily it was just normal school stress, that was something he could deal with. The reason he was stressed was because of all the tests they had taken the Friday before and at the start of each class that teachers were handing out the results. And with everything that had been happening Izuku had struggled to find the time to properly study. And the consequences of that became apparent as the first test he got was a low C and the following grades slowly got lowered.
The only break in the day Izuku got was at lunch, but that was quickly filled with Kei. Izuku was sitting in the corner of the lunchroom when Kei suddenly put down his tray and asked, "So if Kuraim isn't the alpha, that means he isn't the one who bit you because betas can't make other werewolves. Meaning there is another hairy beast out there that we have to worry about."
"How longer did it take for you to figure that out?" Izuku asked as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"Then did the alpha kill that woman?" Kei asked.
"I don't know."
"But why would Kuriam be worried about covering it up?" Kei asked as he took a sip of water.
"I don't know."
"Maybe she was a relative of some kind. But Kuriam is the last one of his family alive and that kill was fresh." Kei siad.
"Kei, I'd rather not have to think about that right now." Izuku said in a rough tone.
"Oh wo, okay. What's got you so stressed out?" Kei said.
"I barely passed most of the test from Friday." Izuku said as he ran his hands through his hair. Out of everything that had happened since the start of school, why was failing school test causing him the most stress
"Sounds like you need to study more. Want some help?" Kei offered.
"No, Momo offered to study with me at her house after school."
"Oh, my man." Kei said as he held up his hand for a high five, but Izuku didn't raise his.
"All we're going to be doing is studying." Izuku said.
"Sure the same way that you put a sock on the door handle when you're at college." Kei siad.
"What? No." Izuku said not believing his friend could say such a thing.
"Oh come on man. Who's stopping you? Your mother, Yaoyorozu's father?" Kei asked.
"Right now, I'm more afraid of her aunt. Mr Yaoyorozu would at least be reasonable, but her aunt seems to be the kind of person to shoot first and ask questions later." Izuku said. It certainly seemed that way after what he just witnessed last night.
Kei thought about what Izuku had told him about last night, "Oh yeah. With Mr Yaoyorozu he might give you a warning shot."
"Can we stop talking about that? I'm already stressed enough as it is, and I'm getting close to slapping you to make you shut up." Izuku said glaring at Kei.
"You would never." Kei said, but then Izuku's eyes got a dim glow, "Fine. No more talk about werewolves and werewolf hunters. Or about the alpha and Kuraim, especially Kuraim who still scares me."
Luckily for Izuku the rest of school was manageable as the grade of his tests started to go back up. But that relief didn't last as at the end of school Izuku ran into a different issue.
When Kuraim had been shot by Renoa he thought he would be able to heal from the injury. It hadn't been the first time he had been shot and he didn't smell silver in the bullet. But when the wound didn't close and he began to nauseous he knew something was wrong. He first tried all the at home remedies he had for the different types of wolfbanes but none of them worked. And he knew he was in trouble and as much as he hated it the only one he could go to for help was Izuku.
Stumbling and nearly falling over multiple times, Kuraim made his way to Aldara Middle School. Once there Kuraim had to brace himself against the outside of the school, he could hear all the sounds of the students of Aldara middle school. Different lockers being opened and friends talking about what they had done over the weekend. Kuraim tried to shut it out, but his instincts were running wild. Eventually Kuraim saw someone he remembered being around Izuku.
Stumbling over to the bike rack, Kuraim put a hand on the bike rack to hold himself up and looked at the blond spiky haired student, "Where's Izuku Midoriya."
Bakugo looked up from his bike lock and saw a junkie that looked like he was about to pass out, "Why should I tell you where Deku is?'
"Because I ask you nicely." Kuraim said and stumbled a bit, "And that's something I rarely do."
Bakugo scoffed, "Alright extra I'll tell you where the useless deku is, if you tell me what you're selling to him." -Kuraim gave a confused look- "What blend you give him. Dianabol? HGH?"
"You're talking steroids." Kuraim in disbelief.
"No edibles. What the hell else would I be talking about? You're his dealer, so why don't you tell me what you're giving him for the field." Bakugo said, "And a word of advice from the future number one pro hero, whatever you're selling I'd stop sampling the merchandise. You look wrecked."
Kuraim just looked at Bakugou and decided it wasn't worth it, "I'll find him myself."
Kuraim began to walk away but Bakugo grabbed his hand and said, "No we're not. You tell me what you're selling him, then I can get that damn nerd off the team."
Once Bakugo grabbed Kuraim's hand, the pissed off werewolf turned around and grabbed Bakugo's neck. Kuraim then slammed Bakugos head against his bicycle's seat and then dropped Bakugou to the ground, "I told you I wasn't going to ask nicely again."
Kuraim left Bakugou on the ground and walked away while the blond bomber slowly raised a hand up to his neck and felt blood coming out of small punctures. Kuraim stumbled back to the school and came across Kei.
"Kuraim." Kei said out of surprise just as the wounded werewolf fell to the ground, "Damn it. Midoriya!"
Coming out from the front door of the middle school, Izuku heard Kei call his name. Izuku looked over at the field that was on the side of the school and saw Kei kneeling on the ground over Kuraim. Izuku quickly ran over to them, "NO, no, no. Not here." -Izuku knelt down- "What are you doing here?"
"I got shot last night." Kuraim said as he struggled to stay conscious.
"I remember. Why aren't you healing?" Izuku asked while Kei siad, "He doesn't look good."
"I can't. It wasn't a normal bullet." Kuraim asked.
"Silver?" Izuku asked, as he looked down at Kuraim's hand and saw blood dripping from his fingertips.
"No. I didn't smell any silver. It's wolfbanes, but not the normal kind the hunters normally use. It's different, more potent." Kuraim said.
"Wait, that's what she meant when she said you had 48 hours."Izuku said.
"Who?" Kuraim said.
"The one who shot. Mr Yaoyorozu's sister." Izuku said and then Kuraim took a sharp breath in while his eyes glowed blue.
"I need you to find out what type of bullet they used. The wolfbanes will be in the tip of the bullet. Find one to bring to me, I'll be able to handle it from there." Kuraim said.
"How am I supposed to find the bullet?"
"You said the hunter was Mr Yaoyorozu's sister. She's staying with them. Get in her room and find that bullet." Kuraim said.
"And what are we supposed to do with you, the walking dead, until then?" Kei said.
"Take him to Dr Asa's clinic. It's closed for the day." Izuku said after a moment of thought, "I'm heading to Momo's house to study with her. I'll try to get into her aunt's room and find the bullet."
"And how am I supposed to get dead weight to the clinic." Kei said.
"I don't know. Hi-jack a car." Izuku said and Kei gained a smile as he began looking around, "I like the way you think Midoriya."
Izuku suddenly looked over his shoulder and saw Momo walking out of school, "Crap I gotta go. You." -Izuku pointed at Kuraim- "Don't die until I get back." -Izuku then pointed at Kei- "You, nothing high profile."
Kei mockingly stomped his foot and said, "Oh come on, why do you always have to ruin my fun."
Izuku stood up and picked up his backpack and quickly walked over to Momo, "Hey."
"Hey. What's going on over there?" Momo said as she gestured to Kei hilariously trying to pick up Kuraim and get him to his feet.
"Oh nothing you need to worry about. Come on, let's get to your house, I really need to study." Izuku said, really hoping Momo wouldn't press any further. Luckily she didn't and they began walking to Momo's house.
As he walked his best friend and his girlfriend walked over, Kei had to question why he was the one that had to deal with the dying werewolf. Eventually Kei managed to get Kuraim onto his feet and they began walking to Dr Asa's clinic.
"Alright, did you have a large breakfast, or are you just naturally this heavy?" Kei said as he nearly fell forwards but caught himself and took another step forwards. Kuraim's answer was a grunt. They barely made it a block when Kei lost his grip and Kuraim fell against a brick wall and slid to the ground. Kei dropped his hands, letting them hit his jeans, "Great, all that progress for nothing. And I'm not going to be able to pick you up again."
Kei looked around and spotted a parking garage. Izuku had given him permission to steal a car. "Wait here a second, I'm going to get us a ride."
Kei raced across the street and into the parking garage. He began looking for a car to steal when he came across a really nice Mitsubishi that had a spoiler on the back and a custom paint job. Kei took a step towards it but then Izuku's reminder about nothing too high profile came to mind. Kei cursed his friend, but it was true an expensive car like that would easily be called it. Kei needed a car that even if it was called in, would be hard for the police to find.
Kei headed up to the third level and noticed that the floor was empty save for an old car in the far back. Kei ran up to the car and found that it was an old jeep with fading blue paint. Its back side was made out of cloth and looked like it could be folded down for an open back. Best yet there was a good layer of dust on the jeep, meaning that the car had been here for a while and its owner wasn't going to miss it.
"Hello beautiful." Kei said with a smile as he pulled out a blank key and slid into the car slot. Once he felt his quirk take hold, he turned the key and opened the door. Kei slid into the driver side seat only to find that the car was left side driver instead of right, "Weird."
Kei quickly jumped over to the driver's side and pulled out a new blank key. He slipped it into the injection and after a second turned it. The engine began to turn over and after a few seconds it turned on, "Okay, okay, ok." Kei looked around the dash to look over everything. The first thing he noticed was the jeep had a full tank of gas.
"Okay, first things first. Press the brake and shift it into reverse." Kei said as he pressed the brake down and grabbed the stick that was in between the seats. He pulled it back until the R was highlighted on the dashboard. Kei then let off the brake and the jeep began to move back before suddenly coming to a stop.
Confused by what just happened, Kei looked around until he spotted a light on the board that said "Parking Brake." Kei looked around until he noticed a pedal on the far left pushed down and held in place. Tapping his foot against the pedal it disengaged and the jeep began to slowly roll backwards. Kei turned the wheel and once the jeep was properly turned, he shifted into the drive and drove out of the parking lot.
Quickly cutting across the street, Kei pulled alongside the sidewalk and got out. As Kei hauled Kuraim to his feet, the injured werewolf looked at the rusted over jeep, "Where did you find this?"
"Try not to bleed over the seats." Kei said as he helped Kuraim to get over to the passenger seat and inside the seat. Kuraim was in, Kei slammed the door closed and ran over to the driver's side.
"How did you get this thing running?" Kuraim question. From the state of everything in the car, it looked like it was ready to die any second.
"Well at least it's in better condition than you are right now. And my quirk can open any lock." Kei said as inserted the key and began to turn the engine over but it wouldn't start.
"What was that about this thing being in better condition than me?" Kuraim huffed.
"Great, you're alive enough to be cracking jokes." Kei said as he turned the engine again, "So what happens if Midoriya does find your magic little bullet. Are you going to die?"
"Not quite. I have one last resort." Kuraim said as he slumped to the side and had his head resting against the door of the jeep.
"What do you mean? What last resort do you have?" Kei said.
Suddenly Kei's eye glowed blue and he growled. He quickly grabbed his sleeve and began to roll it up until the bullet wound was uncovered and blood could be seen flowing out of it. Kei quickly looked away from it as he continued to try and start the engine.
"Oh my gosh. Please tell me that it is not contagious. I can't believe I'm doing this." Kei said.
"Get this car started right now." Kuraim said, looking over at Kei.
"You know I don't think you should be the one barking order right now with the way you look.." Kei said as he tried the key again," In fact I'm sure I could drag your little werewolf ass out of this car and leave you to die. You better hope you come across a pro hero with a healing quirk strong enough to heal your magic bullet wound."
"Get this rust bucket started." Kuraim said as he looked at Kei as his eyes started to glow blue again, "Or I'm going to rip your throat out. With my teeth."
"I'm trying." Kei said as he turned the key again and slapped the dashboard. Suddenly the engine turned over and the jeep started, "Ok." With the jeep starting, Kei shifted into drive and drove to Dr Asa's clinic.
At the Yaoyorozu household, Momo helped Izuku study, but he was struggling to focus because at the moment he was more worried about finding the bullet containing the wolfbanes that had hit Kuraim.
"Izuku, is everything alright?" Momo asked drawing Izuku back in, "You seem distracted."
"Huh. Oh sorry, yeah I guess I am. I've never been in a house this fancy before." Izuku said.
"Really, your house is big as well." Momo said.
"Maybe, but my mom and I had to do a lot of hands-on renovations. The water heat sometimes turns off and the AC will randomly kick on in the middle of the night. So it's big but not fancy." Izuku said
"I like how your house looks. It's homey." Momo said.
"That's just another way to say old." Izuku said, "Face it, It's a grandparent house."
"No, it looks like the house every single uncle owns who used to be in construction and is renovating it." Momo said.
"And your house looks like the ones, parents inherited from the rich millionaire grandparents." Izuku said with a chuckle.
"Hey." Momo said and bumped her shoulder into Izuku's shoulders. Izuku jokingly fell over onto Momo's bed then rolled onto the ground. As Izuku landed on the ground he got a good look under her bed and saw a long metal case. He grabbed it and pulled it out.
"What's this?" Izuku said, causing Momo to look down at him.
"Oh that's probably the one thing I was good at growing up. Terrible at photography, horrible at painting, and those two are even close to how bad I was at poetry." Momo said as she grabbed the case from Izuku and put it on her bed, "I'll show you if you promise not to laugh."
"I promise."
"Okay." Momo said as she opened the case and pulled the lid up, "I was ranked nationally and my father wanted me to continue but around that time I said I wanted to become a pro hero." Momo turned to Izuku and showed off the compound bow that was in her hand, "You promised not to laugh."
"I'm not laughing." Izuku said, instead he remembered the time he saw Mr Yaoyorozu out in the woods carrying a crossbow and how he had pinned Izuku to a tree with a bolt, "It's cool."
"Well I haven't practiced in a while so I'm probably rusty. What's that old saying, hitting the broadside of a barn." Momo said.
"I'm sure you're not that rusty." Izuku said.
Momo lowered the bow and took a step towards Izuku, "I'm sure that's not the only thing I need practice in." Momo got in close with Izuku and dropped her lips towards Izuku's. Izuku could not comprehend what was happening so his entire body froze. Izuku did not know how he would react if Momo kissed him, his saving grace was Mr Yaoyorozu walking past Momo's open door only for Renoa to call out, "Hey Rean, you want to come help your sister with the groceries."
Mr Yaoyorozu sighed as he stopped and called out back, "Be down in a minute." Momo quickly took a step back from Izuku, hoping her father wouldn't notice but then he turned to them and asked, "You two want to help."
"Hey sure dad." Momo said with a blush.
After his reboot Izuku siad, "Yeah no problem." While Izuku stayed frozen in place, Momo stored her compound bow back in its case. They followed Mr Yaoyorozu down and to the driving way from Renoa was parked with the trunk of her car open and filled with groceries. They worked together to bring all the groceries and Izuku was left with the last bag. As he grabbed it and began walking back to the front door, he felt his phone buzz. He pulled it out and saw it was a text from Kei; 'Hurry up dude. Kuraim is looking so good.'
Before Izuku could respond, Momo stepped through the front door and asked, "Everything all right?"
"Huh." Izuku said quickly, putting his phone back in his pocket, "Yeah. I'm just wondering, if you were up for more studying."
"Is that what the kids are calling what I saw in your room?" Mr Yaoyorozu said, walking around his daughter and grabbing the last bag of groceries from Izuku.
"It wasn't anything Dad." Momo said, but the light blush on her cheeks didn't help.
"Yeah, sure." Mr Yaoyorozu said, "Contrary to your belief, I was once a teenager yourself."
"Really, that's not the way mom tells it." Renoa said as she stood in the doorway, "From what she took me, you came out with a scowl and a personal vendetta against the world. Weren't you the one who convinced dad to start training you when you were ten."
"I was 14 and if dad didn't think I was ready he wouldn't have agreed to it." Mr Yaoyorozu said turning to his sister then turning back and Izuku, "You, on your bike." Mr Yaoyorozu then turned to his daughter, "You inside, helping with dinner."
Izuku gave a hesitant nod. He didn't have a chance to search the house for whatever magic bullet had hit Kuraim and it seemed he wouldn't. Kuraim was going to die from whatever herb had been in that bullet. And now there was nothing Izuku could do about it.
"Oh come Rean, What they were just making out, I bet the kid isn't ready for anything past first base. I'm surprised he even took a swing." Renoa said, then looked over at Izuku, "You with the adorable green eyes. Drop your bike, you're staying for dinner."
Izuku looked over at Momo and she gave him a look that told her aunt had always been like this and it would be best for him to just go with the flow of everything. So pushing his kickstand down again, Izuku followed Momo and Ronea into the house. Leaving Mr Yaoyorozu on the front porch, debating with himself if it had been worth calling his sister to help with the werewolf problem if she was going to be this irritated. Though, now in hindsight he should have seen this coming.
