John Wade looked up from the program he held in his lap, a smirk on his lips as he watched the brunette who had taken over his thoughts that day.

She was doing the same but looking the program over and trying to ignore certain things around her. Things like John Wade.

"How long do you think you can pretend I'm not sitting behind you?" He murmured, trying not to attract attention as everyone took seats around them. "You can't ignore me forever."

"You're very perceptive," Elise replied as she continued to flip through the program without looking at him. "Do you also realize that I'm pretending like you've vanished into thin air?"

"So did you know I was sitting behind you, or not?" he pressed, amused.

"Yes," Elise nodded. "It's hard to miss someone with such a big head when they're so close to me." She heaved a sigh. "And don't think I sat here because I like you or anything. I'm sitting here because this seat is part of the first row that was assigned for me. As for you sitting in the second row, that's very bold of you, considering that you were ordered from the premises on pain of death.

"Well, bold is my middle male," he commented, resting his arm on the armrest beside her. "This said, I find it very interesting that you were assigned to sit in the first couple of rows, because those seats are usually assigned to the family of the bride and groom at weddings and I'm pretty sure I'm not mistaken. Do you have something you would like to share with me?"

Shit! Elise's eyes widened as she struggled to correct what had come out of her big mouth. "Well, I'm extended family on the groom's side," she got out and took a deep breath. It wasn't even a lie.

"The Grays?" John made a face. "How interesting. I could have sworn they were a very small family."

"What's the point of this conversation, Mr. Wade?" Elise asked at last. She turned her head and stared at him, so close they almost bumped heads.

"Isabelle? Natalie? Irene?" He tilted his head and watched her closely in hopes of learning her name. "Just what is your name, darling?"

"Prudence," she lied, pushing him away even as she poked him in the chest.

"Oh, please," he burst out laughing. "That's a lovely name to be sure, but you're too proud to answer to it."

She rolled her eyes and turned away from him, keeping her eyes on the wedding program. Then she shivered and broke out in goosebumps when she felt his hot breath on her neck.

"Tell me, Prudence," he whispered. "Are you a romantic at heart?"

She turned a few pages. "About as much as Freddy Kruger is."

"Interesting choice of words," he remarked. "Maybe you just haven't found the right man yet." He reached over and tucked a lose strand of hair behind her ear. "Something tells me that you could be easily convinced but that man. That behind your headstrong exterior and stubborn, rigid attitude, you're full of a passion that needs to be brought out in the open."

"Are you insane?" she asked, blushing. Then she pushed his hand away with a slap. "Tell me something Mr. Wade, at any point during our conversation, have I encouraged you to flirt with me? If you feel I led you down that path, please accept my apologies cause that wasn't my intention at all. I'm not interested in you or any man!"

"Oh, this isn't me flirting, Prudence," he teased and reached out to play with her hair. "I'm just trying to have a conversation with you to pass the time before the wedding starts. Last I checked, it's not a crime."

"Well, maybe not," Elise said and got to her feet, heading over to sit a few chairs away from him. "But that doesn't mean it's welcome!" She looked away, closed her eyes tight, and took a deep breath. The man was insufferable!

"Do I make you nervous?" asked the smooth voice from behind her. She opened her eyes, feeling his warm breath in the crook between her shoulder and neck. How he had sneaked over behind her without her seeing him…she growled. He was a devil man!

"Don't flatter yourself, Mr. Wade," she told him, trying to hold on to her dignity. "I just don't want my friends and family, and in particular our hostess, who very clearly wants you dead, to see me in your company! She might think we're conspiring together."

"So you've decided it's easier to lie about what's happening between us," John heaved a big sigh.

"Nothing is happening between us!" Elise cried. "How can something be happening between us when I didn't even know who you were a few hours ago?"

"And now your whole world has been turned upside down since our first meeting," he continued. "You'll never be able to get me out of your mind," he whispered, amused by how nervous she was.

"Could you please go away before my family comes?" She ordered sternly.

He gave a mocking bow. "Of course. Ms. Prudence," he said before moving back to his original seat.

Once he was gone, she took another deep breath and did her best to maintain a light, pleasant mood. That…that man! He meant nothing to her! He was just a troublemaker! If only her body could figure that out and her heart would stop pounding so hard at the sight of him. Then everything would make sense.

Angie shifted from foot to foot as she waited in line to get seated. Wincing, she pulled on the fabric of her dress that suddenly seemed much tighter on her than when she'd first put it on. She'd probably gained some weight, which she didn't understand. Even though she did love eating, she ran around enough to work it off.. It didn't make any sense.

"I told you we should have sat down before everyone else!" she scolded Klaus, who was standing behind her with his hand in the small of her back. "Now all the good seats are getting snatched up and who knows where we'll be stuck!"

"There's no need to worry, love," he assured her with a whisper in her ear. "Selina promised me that she had reserved the first two rows for family, which includes us." He chuckled, his lips against her earlobe. "You know, that blush in your cheeks suits you. Your face is adorably red! We should have impromptu quickies in the middle of the day more often!"

Her cheeks matched her dress even more and then she turned to stare at him. "Lower your voice! Any…encounters we have are no one's business but ours!"

"Well, all right," he said, biting her earlobe and chuckling. "It will stay our little secret then."

"Will you behave?" She snapped, pushing him away because she was really starting to like how his body felt against hers, but now was neither the time nor the place. "We aren't behind our closed bedroom door! This is a wedding, in public, that is hosted by your brother and my aunt! If anyone sees anything, we'll never hear the end of it!"

"Of course we shouldn't disrupt this sacred wedding with our dirty business," Klaus nodded as he followed her toward the front rows. "It's the wedding of a son your aunt had with someone other than my brother."

"They were on a break at the time!" Angelica reminded him, rolling her eyes. "And it's not like you don't have a complicated romantic history, especially where the mother of the groom is concerned, Mr. Judgy!"

"This is true," Klaus admitted. "But, my sweet love, you're all my heart desires now and for the rest of eternity!" He put his hand over his heart and winked at her.

"You're so full of yourself, Klaus Mikaelson!" Angelica rolled her eyes and blushed. Then she continued making her way to the first few rows, a smile on her lips. Even though he'd assured her of it several times, she still had her doubts that a powerful, gorgeous, and extremely sexy hybrid like Klaus Mikaelson would be interested in staying with someone like her forever. Unless it was because he needed someone to cook and keep everything in order for him and all that. That might be a reason for him to keep her around. More believable than him thinking she was attractive or anything like that. Although every time he said it, she found it a little bit easier to believe, and it just…it warmed her heart.

"Look!" she cried out suddenly and pointed. "There are some empty seats over there, in the second and third rows!"

Klaus glanced where she was pointing and growled. "I am not sitting by my stepfather! Let's sit in the second row."

"Nope!" Angie shook her head. "Not siting by John Wade! Not a chance!"

"And by John Wade, you mean your loved and cherished great-grandfather, right?" Klaus asked with a playful wink.

She narrowed her eyes as they became red. "Don't you call him that! I don't want anything to do with that man!"

"I think you're lying to me a tiny bit," he called her out, pointing a finger under her nose.

She promptly growled and grabbed his hand, twisting it hard and making him cry out and swear, nearly losing his temper with her, something that hardly happened.

"Fuck, Angelica!" He cried out. "Let go of my hand! That hurts!"

"Oh, you big baby!" She muttered, rolling her eyes and releasing his grip before walking with confidence to the third row of seats.

"Let me just make it clear that I don't agree with this!" Klaus muttered behind her back.

"Well, tough!" She hissed as she approached John Wade. "It won't be forever, so suck it up!"

As they approached, John turned to look at them, a grin curving his lips. "Well, hello, Angelica my dear," he said. "A pleasure to see you again!"

She just shook her head. "Whatever, Mr. Wade! I know my aunt asked you to leave but you're still here, clearly lacking respect for her."

"Well, my plus one has the car," John explained. "I don't know where they are, and I have no intention of walking all the way back to the city." He smirked. "Furthermore, this gathering gives me the opportunity to rekindle my relationship with my lovely and highly intelligent great-granddaughter!"

Angie blushed, lowering her eyes and continuing her way over to Mikael.

"Klaus," John nodded at him with a smile.

"John," Klaus nodded back.

Meanwhile, Mikael looked up in surprise when Angelica sat beside him. He hadn't expected anyone to sit by him at all since Sybil, the only person who usually would, was a bridesmaid. "Angelica," he greeted at last. "Why are you sitting next to me?"

"I beg your pardon, Mr. Mikaelson?" She looked at him, dumbfounded. "This isn't your property. It's my aunt's. I can sit wherever it suits me."

"I have no problem with you, my dear," he was quick to reassure her. It's just…him." He pointed at Klaus. "He's the one I have problems with."

"Well, my apologies, Mikael!" Klaus took his own seat. "Can't you see that there are no more seats available? Believe me, I have no desire to sit by you either!"

"I can see a few over there by your grandfather, Mr. Wade, my dear," Mikael said to Angie, pointing at John who was waving at them.

Angelica scoffed, doing her best to summon up her Princess of Hell attitude so this stupid conversation would end. "I don't wish to sit with him, Mikael. I wish to sit here and that's that. Am I clear?"

"As you wish," Mikael said, rolling his eyes and sighing.

"Where is your lovely wife?" Klaus asked with a smirk. "I assume she's around somewhere. Or has she finally come to her senses and left you too?" Then he let out a cry of pain as Angie stepped on his foot for that remark.

"Actually," Mikael replied slyly, "she's here but fulfilling obligations as a bridesmaid. Did you forget already? Good, because I don't want you thinking of my wife at all!"

"Well, you know Sybil and I will always have a special connection," Klaus remarked, poking the bear.

"Don't go there," Mikael warned, glaring at him.

Angelica nudged Klaus and made a face, hoping he would stay silent.

"Well, I am so excited for this lovely wedding," she remarked. "I can't wait to see how the procession works. It's not often that I'm at a wedding where there are surprises." She opened the program she'd grabbed and began looking through it.

Meanwhile, Mikael was eying his phone and scrolling nervously.

"What's the matter, if you don't mind me asking Mikael? You seem nervous. Is there something I can do?"

"No, thank you," Mikael shook his head. "It's just Kristin…my daughter. She's been on a trip around the world, and I haven't heard a word from her or Eric Anderson for days. He's her bodyguard and pilot because I didn't like the idea of her traveling by herself."

"I'm sure she's having fun," Angelica replied. "That's all it is. And I bet no harm has come to them and they'll remember to call or text eventually."

Klaus chuckled, earning a look from Angelica.

"What?" he shrugged. "Something in the program made me laugh!"

But it was a lie, and she knew it. "You know something," she whispered in his ear. "Spill it!"

"They're visiting the island," Klaus whispered back. "Eric brought her there of all places! Of course I was informed the second they arrived."

"I'm wishing very hard that this is one of your jokes," Angie remarked, wide-eyed and horrified.

"Nope, sorry!" Klaus shook his head, grinning wickedly.

"Oh, my grandpa," she put a hand over her heart. "What are we going to do about this?"

"Well, I don't know why you always feel like we need to solve every problem that arises, but for now, we'll just enjoy the wedding and talk more about the island after."

"What are you two whispering about?" Mikael asked suspiciously. "Do you have something that you would like to share?"

"No, not particularly," Klaus replied. "Just talk between two people who are crazy for one another that has nothing to do with you. You should try it with Sybil sometime." He then grinned wickedly, the elbow Angie put in his ribs having no effect on him whatsoever.

But Mikael just winced and groaned, turning his attention back to his program.

Lucifer Morningstar peeked out from behind a wall, watching as the guests took their seats for the ceremony. Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck! All he wanted to do now was leave, and there was John Wade, his ticket out of here, just sitting as bold as anything right in the front row! How was he supposed to talk to him now?

He rolled his eyes, then realized that the sun had completely disappeared, and the sky was dark with clouds. Bad weather, it seemed, was on the way.

Not that he cared. He didn't care about the weather or this wedding anymore. Now he just wanted to leave and forget the ludicrous idea that he could reconnect with Angelica. He turned to go, then felt someone grab him by the ear.

"Ouch!" he growled in pain as his assailant pull him further behind the wall so that there was no chance he would be visible to anyone who might be looking that way.

"If you don't let me go, then I swear I will…" he began, stopping only when he was let go and found himself face to face with Dexter. "You!"

"Yes, me!" Dexter narrowed his eyes at the devil, hands on his hips. "Please explain to me why you're here."

"Well, honestly," Lucifer remarked without looking at him as he adjusted the sleeves of his silk shirt, "I don't think I owe you any explanation of my whereabouts. I never have, and I don't intend to start now."

"But you invaded this wedding without an invitation!" Dexter reminded him, dumbfounded. "Knowing you, you didn't even have a plan for what you were going to do here!"

"Oh, I beg your pardon," Lucifer drawled. "Do you have an invitation on your person somewhere that entitles you to judge me?"

"Selina welcomed me with open arms," Dexter replied after clearing his throat.

"Why?" Lucifer wanted to know. "You're not close enough with her anymore to be on the guest list. Not to mention you have no connection to either the bride or the groom."

"Well, I told her I'd come to make sure you didn't cause trouble during the ceremony, and I was admitted without hesitation, that's why!" Dexter exclaimed.

Lucifer burst out laughing, a sparkle in his dark eyes as he clapped Dexter on the back. "Oh, that's brilliant!" he remarked. "Considering that I'm already here!"

"I realize that, Einstein," Dexter nodded. "That's why I want you to leave! This isn't the place for you!"

"And it is for you!" Lucifer pointed out, unable to let it go. "And why is that?" He tilted his head and crossed his arms, eyebrow raised as he peered at something behind Dexter's back. "Oh, look! My granddaughter is headed this way. Could she be the reason you're here? With my presence as a weak excuse for a make-out session behind some bushes, or while you're hidden away in the stables, perhaps?"

Dexter froze, a blush coloring his cheeks as he turned his head to see Victoria coming toward them. She didn't look happy at all!

"What are you still doing here?" she yelled stabbing a finger in her grandfather's direction. "You can't stay here, Lucifer! We've gone over this!"

"Victoria, like I explained to you, I can't leave right now, but I promise that it'll happen soon." Lucifer spoke in a surprisingly calm voice. "Why are you so mad at me when you should be asking your boyfriend why he's here instead?"

"My…" Victoria froze in shock, glancing at Dexter and blushing. "Mr. Dexter isn't here for me!" she cried out, stomping her feet in the grass, hands balling into fists on either side of her waist. "He's here to make sure you leave the property like you promised you would!"

"Mister Dexter?" Lucifer repeated with a sly grin. "Is that what he asks you to call him in bed?"

Victoria growled and jumped at him, wanting to strangle him so badly. Then she let out a cry as an arm looped around her waist to stop her.

"Victoria!" She felt Dexter's lips near her ear and his hot breath on her neck as he whispered to her. "Don't waste your energy on him. He doesn't deserve it. This is a lesson that took your mother much too long to learn. It would be much better for you if you learned it faster than she did."

"Fine," Victoria nodded and pushed him away. "Since you just acknowledged I have a mother, you don't need to be acting like another one. One is enough." She glared. "I'm not a child. I'm old enough to decide what's good for me and what isn't."

Dexter scoffed. "Well, you're certainly acting like a child now, Victoria," Dexter told her as he watched Lucifer out of the corner of his eye. "She's more like you than I originally thought she was."

"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Victoria demanded angrily.

"I would take the compliment, darling," Lucifer replied and gave Dexter a smirk.

"What's so funny?" Dexter asked. "Why are you smiling now?"

"I'm just smiling because there's obvious sexual tension in the air between you two," Lucifer answered, crossing his arms. "I mean if I wasn't here to distract you, I'm sure both of your clothes would be off, thrown haphazardly across the lawn by now."

"What?" Victoria cried out, a slight blush coloring her cheeks. "You're really disgusting! What sort of grandfather talks like that?"

"One who knows he's right!" Lucifer insisted. "Disgustingly right about you two!"

"This is what I mean," Dexter told Victoria. "Your grandfather is like a child. You give him the slightest bit of attention, or even take it away, and…"

"Oh, I'm sure I'd love to see how you'd react if my granddaughter paid you attention, Dexter," Lucifer said with a grin. Then he cried out in pain, grabbing his right shin.

Dexter and Victoria started as he cried out, turning to see Diana, who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere to give Lucifer a swift kick with her heel.

"What's your damn problem, Diana Dove Johnson?" he lashed out at her.

"Oh, I think you are!" She answered, stabbing a finger in his direction. "You're my problem, Lucifer Morningstar! I bet you were already ordered to leave, so get your ass off this property!"

"Diana, it's okay," Victoria said. "You can calm down."

"Yes, we have this under control," Dexter tried to reassure her. "You can let him be."

"Did I ask your opinion?" Diana asked, turning to glare at him.

"Fine, whatever," Dexter stepped back, hands up in surrender.

Lucifer growled and leaned forward to stare into the tall brunette's eyes as his own turned red. "In what universe do you think that just because you say something, I'll listen to you?"

"Apparently in the same universe where you think those red eyes of yours are scary," Diana replied. Well, if you think that's true, then boo-hoo to you. I'm not my mother or my sister so the last thing I intend to do is bow to your whims just because you say so."

"Oh, you don't know just how much you should fear me, little half-human," Lucifer hissed. "That much is clear." He laughed. "And for disparaging my daughter, or any other unwise slight, I could crush you with one hand!"

"Go ahead," Diana challenged, getting right in his face. "I dare you! Remind everyone at this wedding just how much of a killer you are!"

"I could.." he growled, without blinking. "So easily…"

If he were completely honest, he had to admit that she was a knockout, which was no surprise, considering that she was Eleanor's daughter and of course he'd found Eleanor attractive once upon a time.

"Well, well," Dexter chuckled and crossed his arms as Diana and Lucifer glared at him. "I can feel the tension in the air. The obvious tension!"

Lucifer froze, narrowing his eyes at him. "Oh no, no, Dexter! You're mistaken. There's no tension, romantic or otherwise. Just pure hatred!"

Diana scoffed. "I agree with him. Hatred is the word you're looking for." She paused. "A hate that burns hot in my veins!"

"Well, that's good," Lucifer nodded. "I hope your hatred burns so hot in your veins that you burn!" He paused. "As for me, I could find myself on a mountaintop in the middle of a snowstorm, and if it turned out you were the only one who could offer me shelter, I would rather freeze than have a wannabe queen at my side!" He tried to slow his breathing, then let out a cry and a curse as Diana kicked him again.

Just then, Dexter realized that their little battle was beginning to draw unwelcome attention.

"Okay, that's enough," he told them. "People are starting to notice us. I think the ceremony's gonna start soon, so Lucifer, you stay here until I find your plus one, and then you can leave."

"The sooner the better, before he has a chance to ruin everything!" Diana spat. "I'd come with you and help look but I don't trust him to be left alone."

"Aren't you a bit dramatic, Miss Know-it-all?" Lucifer rolled his eyes.

"Tell me who you came with!" Victoria demanded sternly.

"In the front row, I believe," Lucifer answered, heaving a sigh.

"Second row?" Dexter looked at the second row in surprise. "Don't tell me you came with John Wade!"

"Fine you won't hear it from me." Lucifer put his hands in his pants pockets and shrugged.

"You're even more despicable than I thought!" Diana cried, poking his chest.

"Stop poking me, little girl, or you'll see me get angry very quickly!" He pushed her hand away and she stumbled just a little but stayed on her feet.

"Come on, Diana," Victoria urged, taking her friend's hand. "Let's get out of her and go talk to John Wade."

Diana nodded and soon they were walking toward the chairs where everyone sat waiting for the ceremony to begin.

"You're unbelievable, you know that?" Dexter shook his head. "Of all the people you could have chosen to bring here, you chose John Wade!"

"What can I say?" Lucifer smirked. "I'm special that way."

As Diana and Victoria reached the second row, they stopped, glanced at each other, and nodded. It seemed like it was showtime. And they weren't thinking of the wedding. They were thinking of what they could do to get John Wade out of his seat and looking for his plus one!

They murmured apologies to the couple they passed by as they made their way to the middle of the row and John.

Just then, Klaus spotted his daughter and gave her a wink.

"Where were you, pumpkin?" Angelica asked, her voice full of worry. "We thought you were going to miss the ceremony."

"What?" Victoria shook her head. "Don't worry, Mom. I was keeping track of the time." She took a seat next to her father. "I just bumped into Diana, we started talking, and time got away from us. You know how it is."

"Hello, sister!" Diana took a seat and waved at Angie.

"Hello, Diana!" Angie waved back. It was still strange to think of Diana as her half-sister, a child that her mother had had with another man while still married to her own father. But Diana was an amazing woman, nonetheless.

"Mr. Mikaelson," Diana greeted Klaus a little more shyly.

"Please, call me Klaus, Diana," he winked at her. "We're family after all."

"Very well…Klaus," Diana nodded but still looked uncertain.

Then both girls glanced at one another as John turned to survey everyone in the row behind him.

"It's such a pleasure to be here at this wedding with my family," he commented. "Ladies, you all look very lovely."

"Mr. Wade," Diana raised her chin. "I think I made it very clear that I don't want anything to do with you."

John smirked. "Well, what I think Diana is that you reacted impulsively because you've been influenced by other members of your family instead of taking the time to create your own opinion of me. I thought we had a very pleasant talk before you found out who I was. That being said, things could change in the future, to the point where we're at least being civil to one another."

"I don't think I'll ever be able to be civil to you, Mr. Wade," Victoria said, narrowing her eyes at him.

John smirked and shook his head. "Dear Victoria. You're as beautiful as your mother. And as smart as her too."

Angelica rolled her eyes and leaned forward to try and protect her daughter from whatever it was John was planning on doing to her. She appreciated a compliment, but not at Victoria's expense.

But before she could do much, Klaus put a restraining hand on her arm, making her growl softly in frustration. "At ease, love," he whispered. "I know you want to protect our daughter, but…I don't think you should interfere. It seems like they have it under control. Trust them."

Angelica rolled her eyes and heaved a sigh, knowing he was right, and thinking how different her own life would have been if her father had been willing to take such advice when it came to his fears about how everyone upstairs didn't like her and wanted her hurt. What kind of person would she be if she didn't learn from his mistakes, even if it were difficult? She took Klaus' hand and squeezed it hard.

"It'll be okay," he whispered. "It'll be fine."

Meanwhile, Victoria kept her eyes on John. "Flattery will get you nowhere," she informed him, no emotion in her voice. "Just because you're an important person in my family and a big reason why so many of us are here, that doesn't mean I have any obligation to be nice to you."

John grinned. "I'm not just a big reason why so many of you are here. I'm the big reason!"

"Whatever," Victoria replied, blushing a little.

"I would suggest you find your plus one now, Mr. Wade. Maybe that person is very close by and is waiting for you to get your ass out of that chair so the two of you can leave as soon as possible." She tilled her head toward the entryway, hoping he would understand that it was time for him to go.

"How thoughtful of you, Diana," he smiled back. "But I'm very comfortable in this chair and I wouldn't want to disrupt the ceremony when it's so close to starting, so I think I'll just stay right here."

"Elise!" Victoria shouted her friend's name after trying to catch her eye.

Elise, who had been listening to the conversation taking place behind her back, froze in her chair and bit her bottom lip as she tried not to say a word.

"Elise!" Diana shouted.

John turned to look at the front row, a large smirk curving his lips as he whispered the young woman's name. "Elise…what music to my ears!"

She blushed and rolled her eyes, looking over the program for what seemed like the millionth time.

"Has she gone deaf or what?" Victoria asked. Diana just shrugged.

At that moment, her parents made their way over and took seats on either side of Diana.

"Couldn't you have found another place to sit?" Eleanor scowled at John.

"Eleanor, you are a force of nature that I don't want to reckon with," John replied as he gave her a wink.

"Well, stay away from my daughters and you won't have to find out just how right you are," she threatened.

John then found Julian and watched him closely. "You have good taste in women, young man," he complimented him.

"Do you think one compliment will make me like you?" Julian scowled.

"Oh, I doubt it," John remarked with a wink before turning to face the front. "It will take a very long time before we get there!"
