"Alastor, no!"
Lucifer watched in horror as the Radio Demon stepped in front of the blade, blocking his daughter from it.
Everything seemed to slow down as Lucifer ran to Alastor and Beth. He watched as Alastor fell to the ground and barely heard Beth's scream as her dad bled out. He grabbed Beth and spread his wings, flying them both to safety before what really happened hit him. He landed on the roof of a nearby building and looked at the young girl he held in his arms.
"He's gone, isn't he?" Beth asked, tears beginning to fall.
Lucifer felt tears of his own as his voice caught in his throat. "He is, Beth. I'm sorry."
He held her tighter as she sobbed into his shoulder. He tried not to let his own sobs out as tears continued to stream down his face. This girl had just lost her dad. The least he could do was act like the stepdad he was going to be for her.
He looked at the engagement ring on his finger. The one Alastor had giving him mere weeks earlier. And he was gone.
Lucifer finally broke, sobbing and shaking along with Beth. How he hated his cursed immortality. He would have given anything to join Alastor in the after afterlife. But nothing could kill him in Hell. Absolutely nothing, not even himself. He was forced to live without yet another person he loved. Cursed to be alone.
He gathered himself and wiped his face. No. Beth needed him. He would not let Alastor"s sacrifice be in vain. He stood, still holding Beth tightly.
"I've got you, sweetheart. You'll be okay," he whispered as he took to the skies once again. He thought to himself, Get her to safety. Protect her. Then when the danger is passed; grieve.
I want to make it clear this an AU. I'm not hinting at my RDD story. And… more Radioapple hehe
