Ahsoka sat down next to him, putting a hand on Rex's shoulder. Rex came back to the present and looked at Ahsoka. Ahsoka looked at Rex and said "me and some of the clones are going to pull a prank on Anakin if you want to come". Rex knew Fives death had taken its toll on Ahsoka even though she didn't show it as often, not that she didn't care she cared about all the clones, she just didn't show her emotions like he did. Rex was hesitant but said yes. A small smile appeared on her lips as she squeezed his shoulder then got up and walked out, the door shutting behind her. During the few days that Rex was down Ahsoka had been doing pranks on Anakin to cheer him up, always asking him to help. He wondered what the prank was this time. Two days ago Ahsoka dumped a bucket of paint on Anakin and during one of their meetings Rex noticed Anakin's face was a slight tint of blue. Rex was still walking when he heard something from the barracks. He walked in and saw Ahsoka, Jesse, Hardcase, Kix and Echo snickering as Ahsoka held Anakin in the air flailing his arms as he yelled at Ahsoka to put him down.
Ahsoka put Anakin down, his face red with anger and embarrassment as he told Ahsoka and the others that they have a month of cleaning duty. Ahsoka tried to protest but Anakin walked out the door before she could say anything. Ahsoka and Rex locked eyes as he walked toward her "I hope that was worth a month of cleaning duty". Ahsoka smiled "it was to see the smirk on your face".
Rex's face flushed pink; he was so caught up in the moment that he didn't realize he was smiling. Ahsoka's smile grew wider as Rex walked away. Ahsoka turned back to the group with a wide smile still across her face as they all simultaneously whispered "oooooooooo" Ahsoka blushed and said "I can give you another month if you'd like", they all stopped as she walked out. Later that day Ahsoka, Jesse, Hardcase, Kix and Echo are cleaning the mess hall when Rex walks in and asks if they need help. "Help would be great" Ahsoka says. "ya help would be great" Echo says in a sarcastic tone. Rex and Ahsoka glare at Echo as Rex grabs a rag and starts wiping off the tables.
After they are done Jesse, Hardcase, Kix and Echo leave, Ahsoka starts walking out when Rex stops her and asks if she would like to play Sabacc. Ahsoka says "are you sure I have been told that I am pretty good". Rex folds his arms and says "that sounds like a challenge?", Ahsoka folds her arms and says "maybe if you want it to be?" as she runs down the hallway Rex walking after her shaking his head. Ahsoka and Rex have been playing Sabacc for an hour but Ahsoka has purposely been letting Rex win. "You let me win on purpose that time". " Maybe I did," Ahsoka said with a grin on her face. One more round a real one this time" Rex says resetting the Holo table. Ahsoka is about to make the first move when her comlink chimes. She answers it, Anakin's voice comes through the comlink, "Ahsoka I need you and Rex at the bridge". Ahsoka looks over at Rex as she says "we'll be right there master".
When they get there Anakin is leaning over the Holo table but straightens when the doors slid open. He tries to hold back suppressed excitement "I have been called back to Coruscant vea request of the chancellor to escort senator Amidala to the planet Scipio". Rex and Ahsoka give each other a look. " I will be gone for the next two and a half days". "I am leaving Ahsoka in charge". Anakin looks directly at Ahsoka, his expression hardening "when I get back if there are pranks around the ship you will be at the temple helping masters with paper work".
Ahsoka folds her arms and in a low voice she says "yes master". Anakin continues "I will be leaving in an hour" after that he dismissed them. They were in hyperspace at the moment but in half an hour they'll be landing on Coruscant. By the time the ship was docked Ahsoka was practically pushing Anakin off of the ship and onto the gunship that was waiting for him. As Ahsoka and Rex waved goodbye.
As soon as the gunship was outta sight Ahsoka went up to the bridge and dismissed all of the clones to go on leave. The clones filed out of the room Ahsoka grabbed Rex's hand and ran down the hall almost making him trip on the way to the barracks. When they got there Ahsoka pulled Jesse, Hardcase, Kix and Echo into the hall as they gathered in a circle. Ahsoka with a grin on her face looked at them and asked, "Do you want to know what would be fun?" They looked at her cautiously as they said "what". "A MOVIE" Ahsoka said excitedly.
They sighed with relief as Echo said, "I didn't feel like having another month of cleaning duty''. "Where would we even have it?" Jesse said. "In there," Ahsoka said as she pointed to the barracks. Though the ship was almost empty, Ahsoka could make a ship wide announcement for all of the clones who wanted to watch the movie. Hardcase, Jesse and Kix took some of the mattresses from the bunks and put them on the floor while Rex, Ahsoka and Echo went to the mess hall to get snacks.
When they came back almost the whole floor was covered in mattresses. They didn't expect many people to come but if they did they would have room to spread out. As expected nobody came but while Rex, Ahsoka and Echo were in the mess hall Rex called Cody and Obi wan to see if they wanted to watch a movie with them. Cody said he would be over right away Obi wan said yes but then asked if he could bring a plus one. Ahsoka said "bring whoever you want the more the merrier". Cody arrived first then Obi wan ten minutes later with his plus one Satine.
She had been on Coruscant for the past few days working out bills to bring Mandalore into the Republic. They started the movie. Half way through the movie Ahsoka got up and left the room for 10 minutes then sat back down. After the movie Cody, Obi wan and Satine said their thanks and left, leaving Rex, Ahsoka, Jesse, Hardcase, Kix and Echo to clean up, taking them 20 minutes to clean. Then everyone went to their rooms Ahsoka followed Rex back to his room as he walked through the door she saw blue glitter fly out into the hallway making an outline of where he was stood. She could practically hear the way his eyes rolled as he sighed then chuckled.
The next day Ahsoka was walking down the hall when she saw Rex with specks of glitter still stuck to his armor."I didn't know you liked glitter captain". Rex looked at her then at himself and said "ya I like the sparkle it gives it". Ahsoka smiled "and you really like it?" Ahsoka asks curiously Rex looks at her, a grin spreading across his face as he says "no I just couldn't get all of it off so I guess it's part of my look", Ahsoka looks at him.
"I know how much you like glitter but that has to come off before Anakin gets back or I'll be in the temple doing paperwork". She rolled her eyes at the thought of doing paperwork. "Come on, maybe we can talk while we try to get this glitter off". Rex goes to his room while Ahsoka goes to get a bucket of water and a brush to scrub with.
When she came to Rex's room he was in his blacks, she set the bucket of water on the floor and handed him a brush then sat down in his desk chair. As they washed the glitter off they talked about the missions they went on, the best pranks that they did, and what they would do after the war was over, when the question came up both were hesitant to give their answer. But Rex went first and shifted uncomfortably as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well I haven't really thought about it that much honestly". "Actually," he corrected himself. "I've been thinking about a family ever since Saleucami". Ahsoka lifted her head to look at him.
"You told me about Cut but you didn't say he had a family". "I thought it wasn't important at the time". "Does he have kids? Does he have a wife? what are their names?". "Whoa slow down one question at a time". "First question" Ahsoka thought about it for a moment before answering "does he have kids?". Rex thought about the kids names " yes he has two, their names are Shaeeah and Jek if I remember correctly". "What about their mother?" Ahsoka asked curiously, "Her name is Suu, she's a Twi'lek".
"But I thought two different species couldn't mix". Ahsoka said, confused "that's what I thought to but I guess that's not the case" Rex replied. After two hours of talking and scrubbing but mostly talking they had managed to clean half of the 20 pieces of armor. "How many pieces of armor do you have?" Ahsoka said out of exhaustion "I have 20 so we're about half way done" Ahsoka groaned as she dropped the brush into the bucket and leaned back in the chair.
"Can we take a break?" Ahsoka said almost begging, "my back hurts and my butt is numb from sitting on it". Rex snickered "fine but only for 20 minutes then we have to get back to work". He got off the bed "20 minutes" he repeated as Ahsoka got off the chair and stretched. "20 minutes," Ahsoka said. They walked through the ship to the mess hall, ate and went back starting on cleaning the pieces of armor.
After they were done Hardcase and Jesse walked in pulling Echo and Kix with them as they asked Rex and Ahsoka if they wanted to go with them. Rex looked at Ahsoka then back at them. "What do you have in mind?" he said, one eyebrow raised. "Umm" Jesse hummed his eyebrows furrowed trying to think of something. "We...could go to that..." Jesse snapped his fingers as his eyes lit up "there's this new place that opened two blocks down from 79's".
"They have unlimited breadsticks," Jesse said with a sly smile. "Not if I can help it" Hardcase said momentarily, losing his grip on Echo's hand just enough for him to break free and run, Kix using the surprise to slip through Jesse's fingers and run with Echo down the corridor Hardcase taking off after them. Jesse looked at the three of them take off then sighed and looked back at Rex "should I retrieve them captain" Rex looked to Ahsoka she looked away from Jesse to meet his gaze. Reassurance in her eyes and a slight nod, Rex turned back to Jesse and nodded, Jesse nodded back and left. Ahsoka got up off the chair and started to walk out "were you going?" Rex asked, stopping her right before she reached the door.
Ahsoka leaned against the door frame "I can't go to dinner looking like this" she said gesturing to her soaked tunic and shorts "I'll change and meet you there just give me the time and place. Rex gave a wavering grin "I'll message you after I go and find them" and with that Ahsoka left.
