dream1990 asked for this one. :) Here you go, Amigo! :) Enjoy! :)

The Owl House belongs to Disney. I only own Mila and Solana, who will be appearing soon in the story.

Magic And A Simple Life

"Sweet Potato!"

"Batata!"

The joyful cries came from two young women, one with purple and brown hair swinging down from a ship on a rope, reaching out her other hand, which was caught by a brown-haired young woman, who hugged the other and spun her around happily. "Oh, I'm so glad you're back!" The latter said.

"Luz, I was only gone for a few days," Amity said in amusement.

"A few days too long," Luz said as String Bean nuzzled Amity's face, glad to see her too.

The explorer chuckled. "Good to see you too, String Bean," she said. "You kept an eye on Luz for me?"

The little palisman nodded and chirped when Ghost came up and rubbed against Luz's ankles, to which the human picked her up and petted her. "Hi, Ghost," she said. "You protected Amity on her expedition?"

The cat palisman purred happily and Luz smiled. "I'll give you some extra treats when we get home," she said.

"Speaking of home," Amity said. "Remember that place we were looking at?"

"Yeah?" Luz asked.

The purple-haired woman smiled. "I got paid in advance for this expedition and the gold is more than enough to buy the place," she said, smiling. "And it's near your mom's home."

The brown-haired woman smiled. "Let's go tell Mama then," she said.

Camilla had known that Luz and Amity were looking to buy a home and though she was saddened that they would be moving out, she was happy for them too. Vee came up to her and smiled. "You okay, Camilla?" She asked.

"I am, mija," the older woman replied. "I'm just a bit sad knowing that Luz and Amity will be buying their own house soon."

Vee smiled. "Yeah, they were excited about it and I think it's close by too," she said. "They didn't want to be too far away from you."

Camilla smiled. "Amity should be back from her journey now, right?" She asked.

"I think so."

Just then, the door opened. "We're home!" Luz called out, hugging her mother while Amity came up behind her.

"Amity!" Vee said happily, hugging her.

"Welcome home, mija," Camilla said warmly, hugging Amity. "How was the journey?"

"It was good, but I'm glad to be back," Amity said. "And I have enough for Luz and me to buy the house we were looking at. Would you like to see it?"

"I would," the older woman said. "I want to make sure it's a good house and won't fall down around you."

"Oh, Mama. It'll be fine," Luz said with a smile.

They went to see the house Amity was talking about and Camilla noticed it was only a few streets down from her own house. "You two would be nearby," she said.

"We didn't want to move too far away," Amity admitted before looking a bit sheepish. "I know I don't say this a lot, but you're the best mom I could ask for. I mean it."

Camilla hugged her. "I know you do, mija. And I'm always here for you, Vee, and Luz," she said warmly.

They went inside and Vee looked around. "It's pretty solid," she said. "I don't see any leaks and there's no magic residue."

Luz had to chuckle. "Thanks for checking, Vee," she said. Ever since they had stopped Belos and the Collector had fixed things, Vee had gotten a bit more protective and began checking to see if she could sense any magic residue wherever they went. She didn't want to risk Belos or someone else sneaking up on them, though Belos was truly gone after having been defeated in the final battle.

Amity sent some Abominations to check on the outside and they reported back on what they found. "The window sills need a little work and the outside needs some fresh paint, but I think that's all for the major home improvements," she said.

"Oh! You'll need furniture," Camilla said. "Let me call up a friend. I think she may have some furniture she can give you two."

"That would be great, Mama," Luz said. "We'd need a couch here and a room for Amity's work and a room for my work too."

"We could always share a workspace, Batata," Amity said.

"True, unless you bring more stuff home," Luz teased her.

"Hey!" Amity said, playfully pouncing at Luz and the two wrestled playfully for a moment, both laughing.

Vee giggled at seeing them. "So when's the big day?" She asked.

"Well, we can move in right now actually since the realtor gave us the keys while we made payments on the house, but we wanted to wait until the rest of the payment was made," Luz said before looking a bit sad. "But...maybe about a week?"

Camilla smiled, seeing what her daughter was worried about. "Luz, it's alright that you and Amity move into here," she said. "You two need your own space and this spot is perfect for you two." She hugged her daughter. "Yes, I'll miss you two, but you'll be just down the street."

"I know, Mama, I just...it's a lot to process that Amity and I now have a new house."

Camilla chuckled. "I felt the same way when your father and I moved into our first house," she said.

"Maybe we can help you with painting and decorating?" Vee said.

"I think that's a great idea," Amity said. "What do you think, Mom?"

"Of course I'll help," Camilla promised.

"Oh, we'll have to show Eda and King too," Luz said.

"And my dad," Amity said.

"And our friends," Vee said.

"Alright, let's focus on one thing at a time," Camilla said gently with a smile. "Tonight, let's go home and I'll make some chili and cornbread. Tomorrow, we can see about getting the window sills fixed and perhaps some of the house painted."

Luz and Amity nodded in agreement as they all headed back to Camilla's home, eating a wonderful dinner and that night, Amity and Luz were looking up at the stars. "It's going to be wonderful, Batata," the purple-haired woman said.

"I know, Sweet Potato," the brown-haired woman said with a smile before they went to bed, falling asleep and thinking about the new house that they would soon be living in.

A new journey has begun. :)
