The trip to Italy was supposed to be an exciting adventure. Dino had been thrilled to bring Hibari to his homeland, eager to show him the beauty of the Cavallone estates, the bustling streets of Rome, and the serene countryside he adored. However, from the moment they arrived, Hibari had been noticeably grumpier than usual.

It wasn't that he complained—Hibari Kyoya didn't do that. But his usual sharp remarks had turned into curt nods, his movements sluggish compared to his usual fluid grace. Dino tried not to take it personally, assuming Hibari was simply adjusting to the time zone or getting used to the change of scenery.

"Kyoya, how about we check out the vineyard tomorrow morning? You'll love the view," Dino suggested over dinner.

"...Fine," Hibari muttered, barely glancing up from his plate.

Dino blinked, slightly taken aback by the lackluster response. Usually, even if Hibari was disinterested, he'd at least look at him. It was as though a gray cloud loomed over the normally composed skylark.

That night, Dino retired to his room, feeling unsettled. He tossed and turned, unable to shake the feeling that something was off. Hibari had never been one to vocalize discomfort, but Dino prided himself on noticing the subtle things about his partner.

By 4 a.m., Dino couldn't sleep. His curiosity and concern got the better of him, so he decided to check on Hibari. Throwing on a robe, he padded quietly down the hall to Hibari's room. The soft glow of a lamp was visible under the door, and Dino's brow furrowed.

He knocked gently. "Kyoya? You awake?"

There was no answer. Frowning, Dino opened the door a crack and peeked inside.

Hibari was sitting on the bed, legs crossed, leaning against the headboard. His arms were folded, his face drawn with exhaustion. The lamp cast a warm glow on his features, highlighting the faint shadows under his eyes. He wasn't asleep.

"Kyoya?" Dino stepped in, his voice soft.

Hibari's sharp gaze flicked toward him, but there was no anger in it—just tiredness. "What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that. Why aren't you asleep?" Dino asked, closing the door behind him. He walked over to the edge of the bed, concern etched on his face. "It's 4 a.m., Kyoya."

Hibari sighed, closing his eyes briefly. "I can't sleep."

"Why?"

Hibari hesitated before muttering, "New place. It's unfamiliar."

Dino blinked, realization dawning. "You've been having trouble sleeping this whole time, haven't you?"

Hibari didn't respond, which was all the confirmation Dino needed. He sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"You should've told me, Kyoya. I could've helped."

"I don't need help," Hibari said curtly, though his voice lacked its usual bite.

Dino chuckled softly, reaching out to ruffle Hibari's hair. "Even you need sleep, you know. Scoot over."

Hibari's eyes narrowed. "What are you doing?"

"I'm staying here," Dino said firmly. "You're not getting any rest on your own, so I'll make sure you do."

Hibari stared at him, debating whether to argue, but his body was too exhausted to protest. With a small huff, he shifted to make room. Dino climbed into the bed, settling beside him.

"See? Not so bad," Dino teased, pulling the blanket over them both.

Hibari didn't reply, already feeling the warmth of Dino's presence ease the tension in his body. Dino reached out and gently took Hibari's hand, squeezing it.

"Close your eyes, Kyoya. I'm here."

For the first time in days, Hibari allowed himself to relax. Within minutes, his breathing evened out, and he drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep. Dino smiled, brushing a stray strand of hair from Hibari's face.

"Goodnight, Kyoya," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his temple before closing his own eyes.
