Hey guys, so this is a story I am very excited to write. This story is going to follow the adventures of a Danmachi OC I made up, and whilst it does follow the plot a lot, there will be some interesting incidents and other tidbits that result in a fun and tragic story about a boy trying his hardest in Orario. But, without further ado, onto the story.

It was a cold night. It wasn't a rainy night, but the season had passed well into the winter, and the streets of Orario had become littered with frost. Many had retreated into their homes for the night, warming themselves with hot meals and sitting by the fire to combat the freezing cold.

Unfortunately, Riveria wasn't so lucky.

The level 5 of the Loki Familia, Riveria Ljos Alf, was placed in charge of finding and collecting supplies for the Familia, which would soon be going into the dungeon on an expadition to Floor 51 to collect some materials for a few allied Familias. It was a dangerous expedition, but one that the Familia had made several times since she, Gareth and Finn ranked up to their latest levels, all of which were 5, surpassing the most experienced members of the Familia and their teachers, Noir, Dain and Bara.

They placed faith in her, not only due to her strength in the dungeon, which granted her the title of Nine Hell, but also because she was the most adept at organisation of the three level 5 members of the Familia. Finn was a tactician, and Gareth was a mentor. Both were well organised and could handel the supplies, but this was Riveria's bread and butter, and everyone knew it. She simply had it down pact.

It also helped that the clerk from the potion shop was smitten with her and gave her discounts. Money saved was money saved.

Riveria let out a sigh, watching the fog of her breath on the cold, winter air rise and disappear. It was not the night to be out and about, and she was thankful that her business had concluded for the night, allowing her to return to Loki's manor, where a hot cup of tea and a night by the fire, even if she was forced to do paperwork, would be welcome.

Riveria smiled at the tought, allowing her mind to wander to how warm she would be as long as she kept on the course for her home, and all the wonders that awaited her. Perhaps she would allow herself to sleep in tomorrow morning, she knew she more than earned it, and their materials would be ready to be collected in a week. She had finished her work for the expedition, all that remained was picking up the supplies and charting their travel and movements through the dungeon, as well as assigning groups.

Her thoughts came to a grinding halt as she noticed something in front of her. A small, shivering something, further down the street, was hunched over itself on the side of the road, small breaths escaping it's form, the mist quickly disappearing into nothingness. Riveria rushed over, falling to one knee next to the small figure.

She was shocked to look down at a small child. They looked to be six, maybe even five years old, wearing nothing but a thin and torn white shirt and black shorts missing a lot of their fabric. The child was ghostly white, pale beyond anything even remotely healthy, shivering against the cold. White hair sat atop their head, short and unkept, and the child was dirty.

Whilst not a healer, Riveria quickly recognised the symptoms and diagnosed the poor child with hypothermia. Acting quickly, in the way only an adventurer could, she took off her cloak and began wrapping the child in it's warm embrace. Sure, she would now suffer through the cold, but this kid was her first priority. The child snuggled into the cloak, shiverring constantly as the high elf held onto them.

Riveria noticed where she was. It was outside a little-known bar a few minutes away from her home. It was the closest place she could go, the Adventurer's Guild and hospitals farther away. Her home was the safest bet. Clutching the child as close as she could to her chest, she rushed off.

Finn sat down in the resting area near the entrance to the Loki Familia. Riveria was due back any moment now, and the two of them were planning on finishing up their paperwork before joining Loki and the rest of the Familia for a warm dinner at a local bar. The others had opted to go ahead of Finn, who stayed behind to meet with Riveria and finish their work, which was barely a few pages each.

Finn smiled fondly at the thought of his friend. She was the eldest person in the Loki Familia, who celebrated her 89th birthday earlier that year, and would kill anyone before admiting to it. Even as a High Elf that had the potential to live forever, and only looking as if she were in her late 20's, she was very sensative about her age.

Finn was snapped out of his thoughts as the door burst open, startling him as he had not expected Riveria to come home in a bad mood. Perhaps that man at the potion shop pushed her buttons the wrong way today, but even then it was unusual for her to get out of control with anger. She was usually much calmer and found sutiable punishments for the offending party.

"Riveri-" called out Finn to his old friend, only for the elf to rush past him, her cloak wrapped in her hands, leaving the door wide open and not even aknowledging Finn. The Prum turned as he watched Riveria ascend the stairs in a mad dash, seemingly making a beeline for her room. But what intregued Finn the most was the cloak wrapped in her arms.

Or more specifically, the white animal ear pointing out of it.

Finn followed behind Riveria, walking behind her as the High Elf burst into her room. He looked in to see his friend kneeling down at her fireplace, holding her cloak close enough to the fire for maximum heat without the risk of catching fire.

Finn walked over to her and sat down. "Who's this?" he asked the elf.

"A child I found on the streets." replied Riveria, not taking her eyes off the shivering child. "Suffering from hypothermia. He needs heat and warm food."

That second one was going to be a problem. One of the reasons Loki and the familia had gone out tonight was become someone, not naming any name (Arcs) accidentally destroyed their entire pantry whilst looking for a snack. How they did so, no one knows, but it had left the Loki Familia with no food.

So, their god decided to take the oppotunity to get everyone to let their hair down and go enjoy themselves at the pub. There was absolutely no ulterior motive to get drunk and maybe give some of the female members of her familia a feel up.

Absolutely not...

But the issue still stood. There was an absolute lack of food in the manor of the Loki Familia.

Finn stood up. "You should put them in some of my clean clothes and keep them by the heat. I'll grab a warm meal from the pub and bring it here."

The reasoning made sense. Finn was the fastest member of the Loki Familia, despite being a Pallum. He was exceptionally fast for his height, and would be able to make the journey quickly, especially if he ordered something simple and easy to make. Riveria nodded, as Finn rushed out of her room and towards the entrance to their manor.

Riveria left the child near the fire as she went over to Finn's room, quickly grabbing a simple pair of shirt and pants. Despite the probable 20 or so year age difference, the chances of the clothes fitting the young child were astronomically good. She quickly returned to their side, unwrapping the cloak and sighing in relief as she noticed colour had begin to return to the body of the child.

Riveria, not caring that the child was still dirty and deciding that the time for a bath was later, slipped off the clothes that the kid was wearing. She noticed the child to be a boy, nodding before slipping on Finn's clothes. They were a little too big for him, but they would do fine for now. She returned her cloak to him, who continued to latch onto it. She looked down at the poor boy, frowning at the thought of how he was left alone in the cold.

Then, the craziest thing happened to her.

She started to hum.

Not a hum she would usually do to get messages across when she was tired or to voice her frustrations and confusion at some of the paperwork she had to do. She did recognise the tune she was humming however, which threw her for a loop when she realised she was humming a lullaby to the poor child, one her mother would sing to her when she was younger and taught her to sing as an older child.

Rock-a-bye, baby
On the treetop
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock
If the bough breaks
The cradle will fall
But mama will catch you
Cradle and all

Baby is drowsy
Cozy and fair
Mother sits near
In her rocking chair
Forward and back
The cradle she swings
And though baby sleeps
He hears what she sings

Hush a bye baby
Up in the sky
On a soft cloud
it's easy to fly
Gods keep watch
Over as you sleep
So hush a bye baby
Don't make a peep

Rock a bye baby
Do not you fear
Never mind baby
Mother is near
Wee little fingers
Eyes are shut tight
Now sound asleep
Until morning light

Riveria smiled down at the little boy in her arms. He had stopped shivering, and most of the colour that had left his body had returned, seemingly telling he had warmed up enough to not be shivering. That didn't stop the poor boy from clinging to her though, and she embraced him as she remembered her mother did all so long ago.

"Mama-chan has a beautiful singing voice~"

And just like that, any thoughts she had on this being a beautiful moment came crashing down.

Riveria turned to the door to be greeted by the annoying sight of a smirking goddess. Loki, her goddess, was smirking in that one specific way that made Riveria want to punch her, Finn standing beside her apologetically, and Gareth bringing up the rear, carrying what seemed to be something steaming.

"You do have a beautiful voice, Riveria." offered Finn, a small smile on his face, before returning his attention to the child. "How are they?"

"He's warming up..." muttered Riveria, still clutching the baby close on maternal instinct. "He could use some food though."

Gareth came forward, recognising his que to bring the child some food. He had brought with him a cup. "Barmaid said that he should have warm drinks, not food. It's hot coco." he said, wrapping his arms around the child and taking him out of Riveria's hands. It had been a long time since the dwarf held a child in his arms, but he sat down on one of the chairs near the fire, not as close as Riveria had the boy, and began to slowly pour the drink down the young boy's mouth.

The child did drink some of the coco, before promptly coughing, having swallowed too much at once. Gareth simply smiled as he took the mug away, and patted the young child on the back. He continued to cough, before slowly opening his eyes.

The boy had golden eyes, slit like that of a fox, and very long eyelashes. His eyes were drowsy, if nothing else, but also confused as to where he was, and who he was with. His eyes shifted to each person in the room, starting with Gareth, the smiling dwarf, then Riveria, the concerned high elf, to Finn, the questioning Pallum, and finally to Loki.

And his eyes went wide.

"G-G-God-Goddess..." he muttered. "Falna... adventurer... dungeon... please..."

"Falna?" questioned the red haired goddess of trickery. "You want to join my Familia?"

The renard only nodded his head. "Monster... home... destroyed... revenge... Familia... please..."

And with that, the boy's eyes shut.

The room was quiet, before Loki made her move, taking the young boy from Gareth and placing him on Riveria's bed, taking Finn's shirt off. Riveria's eyes widened, before looking sternly at the goddess. "You're giving him a Falna?"

"He asked for it." replied a nonchalant Loki, pricking her finger and placing it on the boy's back. "Besides, he needs a place to stay, so he can help out as a helper if he decides to not be an adventurer after all. This just marks him as mine to keep someone's grimy mits off."

That someone being a certain goddess of love was left unsaid. With Zeus and Hera gone over the last 5 years, Freya had made it her mission to collect anyone that showed promise in adventuring at a young age and forcing them to become adventurers to showcase their powers for the slightest chance to garner her affection. By placing the boy under her Familia banner, Loki was essentially giving him her protection from Freya.

The ceremony was in session as Loki gave her Falna to the boy. The Falna functioned as a way for an adventurer to grow and become stronger through basic stats and levelling up. To do so, they required something known as Excilia, which is gained through actions, such as fighting monsters or training. The gods that give the Falna could see the Excilia from the Falna, essentially allowing Loki to view the boy's life story. And as she placed the Falna onto the young Renard, she watched his story.

And she cried.

As the ceremony was concluded, and Loki sank to her knees in tears, she turned to her children and smiled. "His name is Akihide Okami, the only survivor of the Okami Clan from the Far East. And he is now a part of our Familia as well as an adventurer in training. Treat him well."
